Quote:aha. good point. But then again, it wasn't the overall length it was that I had to stop and rewind to figure out what happened a couple of times because the scene was too quick.
Teasers are short and fast. Don't worry - when I do the trailer, it'll be long.
Never fear (and please don't misunderstand) - it is quality work and light years ahead of what most (certainly I) could do. Good job. -
Yay, Samuraiko/DR.
Good work as always.
picking nits: shame it wasn't a touch longer, in a couple of the scenes I was absorbing when it cut over to the next. -
A respectable member of the Marvel Studios stable.
Not their best, but I thought it was just fine.
The Avengers trailer at the end doesn't show enough, but does wet the appetite. Next year can't get her soon enough. -
Quote:That really is the best way to tackle the issue.Percentages and numbers aside, here's the question I'd answer:
Which set of powers do you want to get to first?
If you want the shields up as fast as possible, sonic dispersion, etc. go for the Defender. They'll have everything by 32 - and sometimes getting those powers faster is more important.
If you want all the blasts first, go corrupter. (And hope nobody needs Clarity before level 35.) -

Quote:Only been here since about I7 (post-ED) and I can remember the poll, so it wasn't that far back.Have you've been here from the beginning, and I mean City of Heroes ONLY BETA beginning? I don't remeber when the poll took place, but it was before ED, I do know that.
Quote:Regardless, they did have an official, this is what was in First: Shields (explaining why they can't do shields at that time)
Second: Psychic Weapons
Third: Dual bladed weapons
Fourth-?: I don't recall.
I do remember that Staves has always been popular (I remember that being craved far more than psychic).
Quote:I have. And what I remember being said about that poll was that shield was #1, and Dual Weapons was #2, nothing past that. I do know a realistic fighting set has been requested forever, so much so that players have tried filling that hole with Super strength, DM, and EM. Let's face it, MA just looks fruity like some TKD demonstration, and the punches added were not that impressive. As a RL martial artist, I would like a set that looks like you could actually be fighting with it.
And what I'm reading about StJ/ makes me hopeful.
Also looking forward to more of all types: staves, psychic melee, a toxic rad/poison melee set would be nice, etc. etc. -

Corruptor is my favorite AT in the game.
Sure the debuffs are less, but the damage is more. And with Sonic Blast/ to get even more more damage... I'd take the corr, tyvm. -
Quote:I see what you're saying.Well... Mechanics don't really make a set for me. As long as the set works (unlike Dual Pistols, but that's for another thread), then I'm fine with any gimmick that comes attached to it. I'm much more interested in what the developers will do with the set visually to set it apart from Martial Arts customized with all the custom animations.
That's not to say I expect it to be bad, actually. Far from it! But it will decide whether I want to reroll a character or make a new one.
In contrast, since MA and SS have never really appealed to me, I'm looking foward to what makes this set different in how it works. If it isn't different enough, I'd agree that customization with the animations for existing would have worked fine. -
I21 is shaping up to be a huge issue from what they've told us so far.
My one disappointment remains the complete lack of Dominator love, but it still seems pretty spiffy and I'm looking forward to it. -
Quote:I read out that description that it is the new mechanic that differentiates it, rather than the animations. So it should be interesting.Street Justice seems like an odd choice for a new powerset, considering the power customization options on both Martial Arts and Super Strength were supposed to do just that, but I won't turn down a new set. Now the only question is whether I want to make a new character or reroll an old one into using this set. I have a level 30-ish MA/SR school girl who might look better with a more brawl-like set.

Quote:I am looking Sam. I am sure that there was mentioned made of timing at some point.Where in that post does it say WHEN said proliferation will be included in the game? I saw no dates, no mention of Issues, no mention of Freedom or anything other than just an explanation of what powerset proliferation IS. I know what it is by now, I've seen the list quite a few times. I don't know WHEN it is, and I don't see that info in the post linked.
edit: and Voodoo Girl beat me to the links. -
Quote:Speaking as someone that has generally been unable to get into an MA character and only have one SS character that has made it past the 20s, I am cautiously enthusiastic about another option that may bring a different feel/mechanic to the table and let me get my punch on.Giving me a different thing that's just a new "Flavor" of the same thing when I could have gotten
A:something completely new or
B: More flavor added to the existing thing
doesn't sound encouraging.
I say "cautiously enthusiastic" because our Devs have rarely disappointed me over the years and I generally wait until I get any new places or tools on my screen with me at the keyboard before I rush to any opinions.
Good points, Voodoo Girl. -
Quote:I'm firmly in that first camp.... See, I think it's funny that this is turning people from "Oh god not Freedom" to "Hey, that's kinda cool."
... Personally, I think that sounds obnoxious.
Quote:... The new character creation interface sounds like an insult to the user's intelligence,

and ditching the sewers seems like yet another drastic inconsistency toward their ever-changing opinion on farming and grinding..
So did I.
In fact, I thought the outbreak tutorial was one of the best tutorials in any game, period. But that doesn't mean I am not enthusiastic to see this effort to liven up the game experience and evaluate it for myself. -
Everything looks like it got answered for you, Sam.
I21/Freedom is shaping up to be a huge issue.
Quote:Which is new from the comic con floor as I understand it and not in the previous slate of announcements. Beam guns too.And Street Justice!
Doesn't it just make you want to punch someone? -

Quote:Anyone can try to login, and get as far as this screen.I think you should leak this information just yet, they can well band you form Close Beta or something.
In fact, the way I read the OP they were just checking on the blind hope they would be able to access the beta and are not actually part of it.
Nothing 'leaked' here, I don't think.
and re: the image, fancy. I want more from my dramatic first impression/login, but it isn't bad. -

The first movie had it's moments, but as a whole, the second is superiorly structured as a film to display the Hulk.
There is a reason the Marvel Studios movies have been doing well, and it isn't just that they are taking time with budget. It is their own content that they know intimately.

Quote:Unless your nuke is Darkstar. I find that it does not 100% kill every mob, but with the severe debuff you aren't afraid - Heat Loss for a full end bar instantly, kill at your leisure.also, it seems there might be a touch of confusion here...
heat loss BEFORE you nuke.
nuked mobs are hopefully dead, and you dont have end to cast heat loss anyways.
I find 8+ mobs is the break point for my cold/ice def that I can sleet, ice storm, heat loss, then blizzard.
Keep in mind that this will still detoggle you 50% of the time. if you're lucky you'll catch a tick of end as your bar drops and you wont detoggle, but this is rare. -

Quote:I needed that dose of humor in my day.Blasters are actually terrible at any level, but especially at high level. Incarnate powers make them obsolete as do all fourteen of the fourteen archetypes. The only way justice will be had for blasters is if they are combined with tankers into a super AT that does the best dps at range and has the best survivability.
Thank you very much.
(solid advice elsewhere in the thread for the OP) -

It talks about replacing the heal with something else, and doesn't mention anything re: endurance. I'd read that as no change related to endurance.
I could be wrong, but I'd hold off worrying about it at this point.
