Or course, we could just claim he just said "Bosses shoudl NEVER be able to be soloed..."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Frankly, until I hear otherwise, I'm assuming that's exactly what he meant. He put them in the same category with AVs and Monsters! How else are you supposed to interpret that?
  2. [ QUOTE ]
Am I the only one who wants to know what was in all these PMs? (That's the plural of PM, not the... other thing.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree...if most of the information being distributed is going out over PMs, then I would really like to see some sort of digest or public answering of those. I've always heard from lecturers and such that if you've got a question, ask and have it answered publicly, because chances are a dozen other people have the same question and were afraid to ask.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
But I remember reading something about sometime down the line we may all get the chance to have a personal archvillain. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, there have been any number of suggestions for this, but I think I know what you're talking about, yeah.

IIRC, in one of the recent interviews with Statesman, the interviewer asked a question about player suggestions or something. I believe Statesman used the "personal nemesis" suggestion as an example: if they wanted to, they could throw together a nemesis system in about a week, but it wouldn't meet their standards of quality.

    Ah, found it:

Here is the interview, and the pertinent quote is

    [ QUOTE ]
As for prioritizing, it’s all a matter of implementation measured against design. In other words, if a feature is not a big design improvement, it’s not worth a big expenditure of effort. But if something is cool, and fits the game well, then it’s worth the effort. I’ll give an example: an Arch Foe system. It’d be really cool if players could earn their own Arch Foe – and battle him on and off throughout a character’s career. This is a staple in comics and movies, after all, so it’s a natural fit for City of Heroes. So this feature is naturally worth the time spent to implant it.

This gets to something else – and it’s almost like a company statement at Cryptic – don’t do anything half well. We could jury-rig an Arch Foe system pretty quick (in a matter of a couple weeks), but it wouldn’t be that intriguing. From Cryptic’s point of view, spend the extra effort and make something cool, rather than rush the feature out the door.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's not exactly a confirmation that such a thing is coming, but it's certainly encouraging, I think.
  4. Hmm...I'm not sure that the first two epic ATs having something to do with Paragon City history necessarily implies that all epic ATs will. I would actually find that rather disappointing, since I feel that it rather limits background creation for those characters ("Hey, I'm a Kheldian and I'm here...fighting crime for some reason. Oh, and both my parents were killed by Nictus.")

    [ QUOTE ]
The third potential source I see for an epic archtype is Tielekku. The story arc has you save her from a trap by the banished pantheon and send a message that will hopefully bring her back to help the world.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmm...while "god" as an epic AT would be pretty cool, I think that would lead to a pretty big pantheon. Demigod or angel or something would be cool, though, but those don't really have links to existing backstory (haven't heard of any angels of Tielekku).

    [ QUOTE ]
In a similar vein to Tielekku's return we know to that a Emreeth(maybe misremembered name) patronized those who would someday debase themselves and become the circle of thorns.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heh...it's a correct use of the word, but the image with the "Don't patronize me!" meaning is so much funnier...

    More answers....

My main is a fire/energy blaster and so I was just a little concerned about upcoming changes to AOE. Any more info on this?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ditto. I realize your last post had "Look at AoE alpha strikes" scheduled for some time from now, but I'd like to know what the current thoughts are as far as how badly (or "in what way", I suppose "how badly" sounds unfairly negative) it's going to get hit. Damage nerf to all AoE powers, upped mob hitpoints, reduction of all-minion spawns, damage reduction over area or number of mobs...what's currently in the front running? I'd like to know how badly I need to motor my way to 50 before Issue 3

    "I got a rock"

    [ QUOTE ]
Heh, I also tend to think of Netrunner and Cyberpunk every time I hear this phrase... was that the 'Urban Renewal' card that had the 'I got a rock' flavor text? I remember the card, once played, thoroughly nuked the bejeebers out of the opposing runner...

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, the Netrunner card was actually titled "I got a rock." IIRC, Urban Renewal did 4 damage, and I Got a Rock did 15 but required more "tags" on the runner. (For reference, the base max health of the runner was five.)

Killer Croc: I threw a rock at him!!!

    It was a big rock....

    "I got a rock"

I don't know if it's related to the Peanuts thing, and maybe I'm seeing links where there aren't any, but I remember a Netrunner card with the title "I got a rock." I was told it was a reference to some Cyberpunk thing, referring to a corporation with the ability to drop a satelite or meteor onto someone's house from orbit.
  11. I haven't seen any Carnie minions with dark blast powers, so I don't think the Coven are just remodeled Carnies. Unless I missed some Carnie minions somewhere.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
And don't worry - it'll be available in ALL City Zones and ALL levels.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Only city zones? We can't go trick-or-treating in DA?

Or are there...other plans for DA on Halloween?
  13. Wow...it sounds so good, I'm not sure I'm going to believe it until I see it implemented. No offense, but it sounds like it's still at the stage where it could go through several major revisions before reaching us, so I'll reserve judgement until I start hearing things like "It'll be on Test next week."

I also have to say that I'm disappointed that there won't be origin-specific skills...it seems that something like a "Magic" specialty under Scholarship would be perfect. On further thought, though, there's really no reason to stop Bob the Robot from enrolling in Arcana 101 at a community college...so I'd like to ask: Will any of the skills be origin-enhancing? For example, science origin characters who are supposed to be scientists can flesh out their character by studying Science skills. Will there be magic-related skills to flesh out my magic-using characters, and technology-related skills for tech characters? (Detective sounds like it would have a lot of things to work for Natural...I can't think of anything for Mutants at all.) I'd really like to see this.

According to the COH gudie book it says the following:

That guide is worth slightly more than wet toilet paper.

But yet, the description they list for Jurassik is completely correct.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I believe the Crey's Folly thing is mentioned on Jurassik's in-game info as well. I remember being surprised by it when I read his info box on the Numina TF.
  15. As far as tuning-down goes, I'd just like to say that (except for stuns and sleeps) I like seeing the variety of powers when fighting a bunch of Outcast minions. It's the lieutenants and bosses (Shockers, especially) that are nuts, I think. Haven't played a low-level alt since they got tuned down the first time, though, so my opinion may no longer be valid.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
FYI: There are NO story arc badges. None. Never were. Never will be. You have Souvenirs for that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Would it be possible to get confirmation as to whether or not the eight-player-requiring, no-maximum-level final mission from the chain of Hollows contacts is, in fact, the Hollows trial, and if so, is it supposed to be granting a souvenier but no badge?
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Unfortunatly, there are no places for lot's of Warrior or family bosses, or Tsoo sorcs, so you'll end up using SC, IP and TI for them, these will be alot longer to do, and be your most grueling.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Don't forget the Banished Pantheon. At least the Warriors spawn over a large section of the zone, and all of their bosses count.

    [ QUOTE ]
Positron, your option is built on a HUGE assumption that such a character has debt to work off.

    [/ QUOTE ]

For me, the bigger assumption is that somebody will want to exemplar me. I can't find anyone willing to admit they have BP door missions, and finding the Spirits street hunting is already like pulling teeth when I can one-shot them.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Choice 4: Find spots that are away from those in the zone for *real* levelling. It takes marginally more time - not much - and besides, respawns are always popping up, and so if someone who *belongs* in that zone happens to cross your path, you won't be much impediment to them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A good idea, when it's possible. The problem is that some of the kill badge mobs only spawn in one place. I've only found one place that spawns BP Spirits, for example. And sweeping the Perez Park streets is about your only option for Damned.
  19. "Blaster looking to exemplar with someone with Banished Pantheon door missions!"

    Dead silence.
