Been real slow to post (I've been under the weather pretty bad as of late) I am still doing some drawing
while lying in bed with a cold/fever so I will have a a bunch to post all at once here...
21 and 22 are Disney inspired (don't ask lol)
23 is a color/mixed media test run. -
Really? I dunno never is a really long time an... err I mean Here Here, Agreed!
Quote:Thanks! I have more I can add but I was getting a bit lazy and tired of cropping/resizing headshots. Also, I was getting a bit heavy on the 'Princess. I need some more Rose Veldt art and maybe another up-n-comer to dilute the pool.
Also, Wassy is over-represented which is something I'm sure she'd agree with
you should go take a peek at my NewArtz thread.

Quote:You make a valid point BW, when I was growing up the internet didn't exist and it was a mere shadow of what it is now while I was in school so getting to see the stuff in person trumped an old photo in library book no contest. It's great to experience an artwork firsthand, but the majority of things you will need to learn to become educated about that object don't relate to being in it's presence (ie. it's history, cultural context, method of production, critical interpretations, etc.). I lived in the heart of Kyoto for a year and experienced medieval architecture every day I was there. I can't build a temple and can't really explain how they did it either. Zanen dakedo.
These days with video tours starting to become more commonplace you can feel like your there without ever leaving your house but for me there is still something about being there in person that I just don't get from web or the classroom. It's all up to the individual and how they learn I guess.
I would add that with famous pieces (like the Mona Lisa) almost everything that is known about the work is available online but for lesser known works or for countries where the internet hasn't got much traction yet it's still better to be there... plus some of the best stuff I have learned came from stories told by local guides (had to double check some of the crazier stuff I have heard but most of it turns out to be true) and then there is the whole shared experiences and fun stuff that happens in between the art and culture.
Finally there are some things that no picture will ever do justice to whether it be from the detail being so intricate or the scale being so epic... ya just gotta see it to believe it.
(like when I saw the reclining Buddha in Thailand... I was there and had all the time I wanted to take as many pics as I could... but none of them even come close to the real thing... in the pics it looks like "just another statue")
Quote:Wassy's been a broad forever.
Thank you! I'll be here all week! Don't forget to tip your servers...
Quote:You know, you are 52 times more likely to die travelling by boat than by plane. Although these statistics include drunk rednecks in their bass boats, I would say traveling by air is still one of the safest ways to go.
Plus, I'd rather die quickly on a plane than float around in the ocean for a few days. Deep water is scary.
Way to go Wolffe now you've given her a boat phobia... I hear walking is still pretty safe (albeit slow... and the whole ocean thing is problematic I suppose), of course the traffic is usually on the wrong side of the road overseas and most of the rules we take for granted about pedestrians don't apply... one of my taxi drivers actually laughed and didn't believe me when I told him in the US people on foot have the right of way... "so they don't over here? not even in a crosswalk?" I asked to which he replied "What's a crosswalk?"
... sorry Wassy that probably didn't help any. -

@Caemgen: Nothing specifically in the rules against it for this month and it does give a nod to the Hawt Chick rule (lol) while throwing in a reference to your January submission (a clever touch).
While I also would rather this not become a writing contest for the occasional entry it's fine and I actually though it a pretty good story.
I won't bother going all grammar nazi (up in hyah, up in hyah) but there is one thing I would point out from a story consistency standpoint.
The part when Fenian gets told she has a present under the bed she puts the clothes she is carrying down on the bed and then crosses the room to look under the bed for her present. If she is already at the bed she would have no need to cross the room to get to it.
There were no references that I noticed to there being more than one bed (i.e. she didn't say my bed or your bed or "the beds" plural) and several refs to "the bed" singular as if there was just the one. It could be that there are two in which case she should cross the room from "her" bed to Angela bed... or much simpler just substitute a different piece of furniture as is she put her clothes down on the dresser and crossed the room to the bed.
Other that that it reads just fine and it was interesting enough to hold my attention all the way through (even though I'm running a 101 degree fever and have a nose like a faucet atm) while being suggestive/intriguing in all the right places but not crass or vulgar at any point, plus finally we now have the story behind Fenian.
Nice work.
P.S. I lol'd at the line about the toaster.

Bump... just over 36 hours left and we are missing half our submissions...
*cracks whip*
Get to eeeeet!
*notices that he is among the unsubmitted*
Ahem right then... as you were.
-
Agreed.
Been abroad much?
If not you really should make an effort to get out and see some of these works for yourself...
only so much you can learn about a piece from lectures and images in online.
-
I would've posted one but I have no villains to speak of really.
-
That's pretty cool Wolffe.
Man VexXxa is getting all kinds of gift art lately... what's up with that?
Quick note on the eyes... perhaps the light source is directly in front of her and very near and that is why the reflections are so near together but if that is not the case I would suggest moving the "white dots" in her eyes a bit further apart and/or mirroring them (i.e. keep the dot in the lower right of her left eye but move the dot of her right eye to the same lower right position so they match) ...the way it is now she looks a bit cross-eyed.

Quote:Ahh ok now it makes sense and I understand where you were coming from.I said Moses because the bust itself IS a Moses. When you said Michelangelo, I knew it wasn't HIS Moses because they are so different.
And I've studied a lot of Michelangelo's work. I'm either doing an Art History minor or going back for an Art History graduate degree at some point....
Nice! Congratz on that.
Art history is something I wish I had taken more of but while I lack the formal classes I do a lot of research on what famous works (or just pieces I would like to see in person) will be in the region I am traveling to and really try to soak in as much info before I go so I have a better appreciation of what I'm seeing and then I make sure to have plenty of time in the museums when I get there (no rushing to meet some arbitrary tour schedule) to see everything I can and take as many pictures as possible (unless they are not allowed... even then I sneak a pic if I can) and then spend several days reviewing pics and reading more when I get back to try and put it all into some form of context.
That reminds me it's been a few years since my last trip (I used to just pick a new country/region I had not been to yet each year and go) I need to start planning what country/countries to hit next.

Hahaha the Chibi-shade is hilarious.
I really like both of the new sketches you made (IT and HH), definitely some good linework and poses there.
My first impression of the wallpaper though was that the heroes look awesome but the Freakshow look a bit childish.
You know really young and fresh-faced rather than looking like gritty and tough street gangers.
Overall some very nice additions to your gallery though, keep up the good work.

I went speed dating and blew through 20 "first dates" in one evening, w00t!
-
Number 20 is another shading with ink practice.
My Feb FArt submission just isn't looking as good as I would like in pencils so I am practicing this kind of inking
(soft gradual shades not hard outlines like for digital work or comics) in case I decide to try it in ink or markers or some kind of mixed media...
Just a heads up there may or may not be sideboob involved.

Q: How many Scrappers does it take to change a light bulb?
A: SCAPPERLOCK!
Q: How many Stalkers does it take to change a light bulb?
A: None of them ever would... they just camp the bulbs location and backstab anyone that shows up to try.
Q: How many Controllers does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Three. One to "hold" the bulb and two more to rotate the ladder.
The one about the PUG team was brilliant.

Hmmm yeah I guess the 20" monitors I have make for ok backup monitors when I have something else already
running on the 30" and the 28" monitors.
Those are a neat idea to think creatively Foo... I like the garden gnome and the freakshow thumb puppet ones.

No it's not bad as a whole and parts of it (notably the hair) I really like but what ruins it for me are the horns... when I stand back and look at it they resemble oversized ears more than horns.
If the horns were reshaped and moved a bit though I think it would be a much better overall look I think.
Also the face doesn't resemble Caemgens much... strangely enough it actually looks like a difference face in the CC (supernatural face 13 I think it is) but that may just be coincidence unless she has knowledge of the game that I am unaware of?
-
Did you mean that you have or have not studied a lot of his work?
Also, out of curiosity, what made you think of the Moses in particular when I said Michelangelo? Horns and the Moses being a full statue aside, the two don't look much alike.
Yeah I agree the David is done to death he crops up everywhere you go in Italy it seems...
I forget what small town we were in but my two travel companions decided they shall call this one Mini D (they had just seen Austin Powers).

Quote:I am well aware it is not a depiction of the Moses (which is not a bust anyway but a full body seated poseThe artist is Yumiko Dorsey, but that is not a Michelangelo bust. Michelangelo's Moses had horns. The bust is 19th century neo-classic.
) as I have been to Rome, Italy (along with a dozen other countries to look at art) and stood before the Moses in "San Pietro in Vincoli" (St. Peter in Chains)... snapped this pic of it with my (at the time actual "film") camera too.
I just meant it looks to be a his (Michelangelo's) style of sculpture being depicted.
There were of course other sculptors with similar styles but he is the first that popped to mind when I saw that drawing.
Sidenote: the reason that pic (and most others you see of the Moses) is lit from the side is that the interior of the church is kept dimly lit on purpose
so the only way to get a good shot of it is the the little "light vending machine" the church has set up. It's a slot that you drop coins into and it turns on a
flood lamp for about 8 seconds so you can shoot a pic and then turns off again until you put more money in... I would make a joke about the over the top greed
of the church here but it would be redundant.

Quote:Yeah it can certainly be a challenge. For what ever reason, I interpreted Desmodas right arm as being restrained/affected by GW. Hence the discoloration not only of her powers but her entire fore arm, as seen in both versions of the piece.
I can't tell from your post if it's clear that I was not the artist.
I do think Paulo Barrios tried to reconcile some choices since both GW and Desmodas have so much black in their costumes. I was planning on getting several Desmodas vs Ghost Widow pieces done by various artists, but black on black color scheme presents lots of problems.
I am aware you are not the artist... I clicked into the large version to view it up close so if I didn't already know that would have told me. I am just mentioning the suggestion to you cuz, well he's not here.
Yeah I am familiar with Paulo Barrios and have had him on watch since I saw his take on Invincibelle.

Sapphic Shot.
Two Shot Neko.
45 Caliber Neko.
Lulz @ tits and wesson hahahah.

Commented on her DA already but yeah the Fenian piece came out great... it's a whole other side of her I haven't seen depicted yet.
Daybreaker is good too considering that is her first "robot" ...Caemgen is a bit sad wookie-ish but hey to quote the immortal Meatloaf... 2 outta 3 aint bad. -
Great job on the latest batch Eddy.
I agree with Caemgen it's great to see this stuff in color but I can still tell easily tell that's a Wassy piece (wooden duck and all)... you are adding to the works without overpowering the original style.
Nice.
-
Yeah it looks to be a charcoal design of a Michelangelo bust.
Very cool... who is the artist?
-
Nice collab you two... and yeah I agree Foo a good colorist can really bring out the best in a piece, Eddy did a real nice job with with my Psygon pencils too.
Nice to see you catching up now that your classes are done ES.
-
Sneaky Free Artz lol.
Very nice stylized take on Neko and it looks good in charcoal too.
That's a medium I haven't used in ages (right up there with silverpoint and craypa).
