#1 Christopher Robin (with a deck of digital colors stacked against it I am still pleased at the results "just a pencil" can bring
)
#2 Shia (hilarious and well posed... her apathetic look of "Meh" is priceless)
#3 Pyro (way to mix it up and bring something new to the mix... and it was a camera malfunction... no really it was)
------------------------------------------
Honorable mention
Juggertha (nice piece... daring choice of subject)
Johnnykat (it was certainly something different to see your villain put a beat down on TA, Thornster, Bayani {yeah I noticed the boots} and Feral Kat)

Demmit!!!
Man when it rains it pours...
As I do every month, I was going to put up the WIP stages (for those that like to see the behind the scenes stuff) in my "New Artz" thread and the finished piece here but I copied the wrong link from photobucket and posted the WIP here instead. Not realizing I then went about adding the links to my post to show the screenshots of me not being able to get online earlier and hit f5 to refresh and make sure everything was right.
That's when I saw it was the not the final image but one of the WIP's I had posted... I went to get the correct link and blaaaaarrrrgggghhhh Internet FAIL! I would have caught the mistake right away but even though I was connected everything was going slooooow and this was all of the image that had loaded so far... looked like the right one so I moved on. Had I seen the bottom of the picture I would have noticed from the boot or Luminary being missing that it wasn't the right one.
This kinda stuff has been happening since last weeks TF with the 606 group and I think VexXxa, Bayani, Planet Girl etc. etc. can all attest how many times my connection dropped during that TF... that never used to happen to me during gaming.
Oh well... here is the correct link to the finished piece and as you can see this is after I sticthed the two WIPS together and cleaned it up a bit (also fixed TTC's boot) on the right is The Tick Tock Clock who represents the sin of vanity, he had a self articulating mirror installed so he can always be looking at himself, and on the left is Luminary, the trainer from Talos Island, who represents the hawt chick.
"I'd Click Me" is how I pictured TickTock saying "I'd do me" while Luminary's reply is the best robotic substitute I could think of
for a girl rolling her eyes (except I don't think she has eyeballs) and saying... "Oh brother."

GAH! My internet router has been messed up for the last several hours and I've been clicking away frantically trying to get it to let me post something.
No go.
I took pictures with my camera of my monitor as it was happening with the clock showing the time... at one point the page partially loaded (as if to taunt me) and I got half the City of Heroes logo at the top of the screen and I could see the post screen's topic but it just sat there despite my cursing and verbal abuse of it.
Problem looks to be that I could send packets but not receive anything (see the first pic) back.
I ended up writing a temporary profile by hand and overwriting the routers firmware just to get a functioning connection... it's a jury rig at best but at least I can get access.
Oh well I do have an entry to post though I know it's late... I'll leave it up to the FArtmistress to determine if it's valid or not.
I chose Vanity...
Edit: added the links to screen caps in my text for those who care to see... good thing there is no streaming audio to go with it. -
When your face levels up mail it here and I'll train it...
I have nothing more to add to this.
Cept maybe AHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
P.S. D'oh 1 day left.

Meh there was already a superbrowse for anyone with firefox... it's called Cool Iris and it's waaaay better than the single row they have on DA... it's a full page of thumbnails you can grab and slide at high speed through dozens of pages in seconds (with out ever hitting next
) or slowly coast along one column at a time, see something you like and you can zoom in on it full screen it or go right to it's page with one click, plus it works with Google images and about a dozen other sites.
Granted you do need a decently powerful system for it to be totally smooth (it still works but it jumps to pages instread slowly gliding).
The only thing missing is the ability to keep the Iris open and save your spot while you open an image in it's dedicated page but that's minor.

Yeah sorry I couldn't make it in time and I was kinda on call to pick up my father from the airport as soon
as his plane got in... by the time I got back and checked in it was almost over anyways. Hope you guys still had a fun time.

Quote:Yep a Dark/Rad/Power Defender and she has the Dark Servant, Shivan's, Will o' wisps, and Annah the Cabal witch available to summon.you gotta relink me some screenies CR, I found that snippet from my original portrait done months ago... unless you like having robotic feet. So what's her AT again? She's a dark defender? I like the idea of summon behind him, I could do that in shadow, might look cool.

It was a camera malfunction I swear! ...those things have a mind of their own... the cameras that is... ahem.
That was hilarious man... self deprecating humor, punny asides (Tempe Rising lol),
some good-natured poking of fun and "hawt chick" news caster, good stuffz Pyro.
The only thing I would have wanted more would be some kind of animation out of Tempe. Even if it were just a frame or two with slight modifications.
Like the bit where she is talking about being into beast men as a come-on to Caemgen insert a frame with her just as she is but make one
eye closed in a wink or make one frame with her head turned to look at the mini-screen to her side and insert it every so often.
Just a thought but I don't know with the program you are using if that would be feasible or if it would be more trouble than it's worth.
P.S. I totally got the "human nose" poke at meh. -
Hey Caemgen PM me if you are going to be on later and we can catch a few levels together... I've got 9mm up to 22.5 so far.
We can go all dual Blasters up in heeyar.

To quote the old knight in Indy's Last Crusade... "He chose poorly"
See it only looks like he has the drop on her until he realizes she turned her back just to lure him in while her Dark Servant materializes right behind him... once he is held she'll debuff him until his defenses are about as effective as mud and then Comrade Hero can say hello... she can always summon in her brethren of the meteors or her sisters of the cabal to irradiate/electrocute whatever's leftover back to the Zig.
The sketch is looking great so far Bobby, can't wait to see what you do from here.
P.S. the same page you got that snapshot of Chloe has pictures of her feet.
before the meteors fell she wore the same gray rough stitched leather boots the cabal uses...
after the event in Bloody Bay and during her time training as a hero she wore the tied black wrappings with open toes...
after taking her rightful place as Queen of the Cabal she now wears thigh high black witches boots (magic pack) with white bat trim.
P.P.S. Anyone else think that last shot would make a great hold... Radiation Controllers anyone? with Shivan Decimators for pets?

See there?! That's how good I am at free artz whorin'... I have freebies that even I don't know about, pure skill I tell ya!
Yeah I'z a dolt for missing that Bobby. Been so busy the last few days I just come in and look at what's on the first page and read through a few threads of interest and then off to sleep... somehow that thread slipped down to the middle of page two without my even seeing it. It's like stealth artz... very sneaky n' stuffz
This would help... or a centralized thread for all your new art so I could keep up to date on all your new stuffz.

My blaster 9mm Migraine is a 20... I think I can get him to 25 and a silver bot suit by Friday.

Found the tardis pretty easily but I actually thought it was a chimney of some sort at first but that made no sense then I saw the your "Who clue" and knew what I was looking at. Nicely done.
Bakart's paintings are really detailed and filled with so much cool stuff I just enjoy letting my eyes wander over them at random. Awesome grab Attache!
Sidenote: That man must have either a set of custom foliage generating brushes or way too much time on his hands.

Several steps in the wrong direction so far from what I'm seeing... I'm still being optimistic though and looking for something I like in the changes so I don't just reject it because it's new and different.
There does seem to be a ton of wasted space... hopefully they plan to add in new features and needed to make room.
Out of curiosity do they ever consult with anyone or do polls (they are built in may as well use them) to see what people want or think before they go changing stuff like this?
-
Hmmm didn't realize getting free artz was an advanced whorin' skill... I better sign up for the group in that case.
more than a dozen freebies whor... err collected that is, so far...
and 4 pieces paid so far.
It'd be more than triple the number of freebies if I counted me drawing my own characters (hey it's free, I haven't charged myself anything... yet.).
Oh and I'm responsible for like 27 (and counting) free gift artz to other whores... where does that leave me in the hierarchy lol.
P.S. Got one more freebie and one more paid, both from Wassy, coming soon...

Welcome Frosty!
(I'm too new to the forums to say welcome back since anything much older
than 8 months or so pre-dates me... 5 year+ vet on the game though.)

Oooh I'll take obscure song lyrics for 800...
I'm a sinner, i'm a saint...
I do not feel ashamed.
I'm your hell, I'm your dream,
I'm nothing in between, you know you wouldn't want it any other waaaay.
So a (curse filter won't let me say the correct song title but it rhymes with nitch, heh) then?
Thought that a was female dog not a cat...
(Meredith Brooks song)

Hmmm I have several 50's but on Virtue a 44 scrapper is my highest, so no go for me this time around.
Perhaps next week depending on what is being run.
Quote:Sidenote: it looks like I'm holding up the support beams in this pic "hurry... up... and take ... the blasted picure!... hurrrrk!"Thanks to those who were able to join in the Moonfire Madness! We saw a lot of moons out there, including Sharker Quint's!!
A fun time was had by all. Stay tuned for next Friday's TF.

Quote:Likin the new art Jordan and sorry to hear about the site going down.Note that my site is down (5/12/2010) because some jerk hacker managed to get in. I'm busy fighting it and trying to restore the site, but it's taking time
Pics (or Federico artz) or it didn't happen.

On the art, I like how the colors came out on that piece Bobby. Cool gift art.
As for the situation I too would prefer TJ came back (and told him so in exchanged PM's) and I think the thread he started became,
over time, a useful resource that several people learned stuff from, but if he doesn't enjoy being a part of board drama, well I can see that.
Now I just need to figure out how to get LJ to insultz meh an stuffz... then after he feelz all guiltified (tm) I can haz sum free gift artz nao!

I was blown away from the very first time I saw "The Death Dealer" and his work all the way through the Jeddaks of Barsoom (John Carter of Mars) and Conan had a big impact on the way I looked at art.
His left an amazing body of work behind and will not soon be forgotten.

Quote:Gratz man. Yeah it's real nice when you can see Ultra Mode with all it's eye candy goodness.Congratulations! I just upgraded myself from my old c.2003 Dell Dimension. It's a nice feeling to be able to turn up some settings
Quote:Dude, that CPU cooler is GINORMOUS! Great rig! Grats DE! I'm very jealous!
Definitely one of the parts helping to keep everything running cool and near silent.
Thankyou very much LJ.
Quote:It's just what I wanted - no huge light show, no jet noise, no nothing.
It just kicks butt and stands there, like the monolith from 2001.
FYI, I have it setting on the side of the computer desk for the moment, just to the side of my monitor and keyboard/mouse, and all I hear is the game.
Oh, hey, CR - that ZoneAlarm deal is about to drive me to axing it. I keep telling it to allow stuff and remember the settings, and it's managed to pop up and stop the game from launching and such. It might be great, but I'm not sure I'm doing it all right.
Anyway, thanks again for your time and for putting it all together for me!
Ya I know right? For being such a powerful machine you can barely hear it.
Towards the end of the build the only thing left that was still making noise were 4 of the covers for the unused motherboard slots (unlike the the videocard slots which were filled) on the back of the tower. They were lose and even when screwed down tight would occasionally rattle when the machine was going full tilt so I took them out soft glued to each of them two strips of foam damping material I had measured and cut out. Now they are silent and since the foam is attached to the covers and not the tower itself it will not interfere if you should ever decide to install something into those slots down the road. Click the thumbnails below and you'll see what I'm talking about...
Hah it's funny you should mention that... I almost put this in place of the windows startup theme to play when you turn your PC on.
The firewall is not preventing the game it's just holding it until you give it permission (the first time) to run. Because it's a clean installation on a new machine it hasn't yet learned what is trustworthy and what is not.
Zone Alarm is an excellent firewall and like most of it's kind it has to learn your computer habits so initially it will start out asking you frequently what processes should have access to the internet and also what things "out there" should be allowed in to your machine. This is doing exactly what a firewall should do and I would strongly suggest you not disable or uninstall it.
Don't worry once you get past the first few days of telling it what gets permission you will almost never hear from it again... it will just sit silently in the background and protect you based on your directions... but if you want a real eye-opener though just wait a week or two and go into the settings and see how much bad stuff ZA has blocked from coming in... the number is usually in the hundreds if not thousands of attempted break-ins with an always on high-speed connection. >0.o<
Two other things:
1, Only use the "remember this setting" if you are absolutely sure you want to Always allow or Always Block something. The settings can of course be changed later but it's easier to spend a few minutes initially to get it right. If you are not sure about something tell it to block (without remembering) and see what happens. This should be your default answer when you are unsure as it's better to be skeptical than too trusting. If, for example, you install Firefox and the first time it prompts you say don't allow you will right away notice that your browser can't connect to the internet and so you can click on Firefox again and now when it prompts you can say yes and remember and then you will not have to worry about your browser again (unless you reinstall or do a big update, see below).
If you don't recognize the apps name that is asking for web access just let it wait while you google it (ZA will hold the app indefinitely while you decide yea or nay). Type the name of the process exactly as you see it ZA's prompt box (example: avgrsx.exe) and you will find sites saying what the process is and if it's ok to let pass. In my example it was part of AVG Anti-Virus so I'm sure it's a good app I would go back to the ZA box which is still holding the AVG process up and say allow and remember.
Think of ZA as your first line of defense... like the guard at the gate saying "HALT! Who goes there!" and forcing everything, that would normally sneak by you, to stop and identify itself.
2, Sometimes you will get asked permission again for a program you already gave the green light to weeks ago (and said remember this answer)... this is also correct behavior and usually means the program has changed.
Example, when there is a huge patch or whole new issue to CoH (small patches aren't a problem) the firewall will recognize that it's not the same app as before (much of the code is changed) and challenge it. This behavior is to stop a once good program from being corrupted or taken over by malware without you knowing about it. It only takes two seconds to click "remember" and "yes" again (if you are sure all is ok) so it's not a big deal but it's far better than having a program not smart enough to realize a potential threat.

Quote:Ahh much better. Thanks Frost.
(lol @ the guy that smacked him in the face with pixie dust at the end)
Wait... I have a team?
Your welcome and thank you in turn.
Wait, you're quitting the artz section because the tone of a few of the posts you received? Your call man but that's kind of silly in my book. If I need info I will talk to whomever knows more about it than I do, take in the info I need and ignore the presentation if it's bothersome. Honestly though I didn't really see any rude or mean spirited comments. *shrug*
Meanwhile I'm glad to see others popping in and getting info and sharing thoughts on the process as well. Free exchange of ideas is what makes a good thread I say... well that and boobies.

D'oh I thought these start at 8:30/(7:30 my time)?
Hopping in now.
