Thanks PG.
@Airhead: Hmm I did consider making it a 2 color Manticore but wasn't sure it would look as nice or read as well... perhaps as you suggest just taking off the outline for the helm would simplify the image while keeping it looking like him. Heh I thought of a ghost from pacman when I saw that too (must be from all that Google pacman I did when the logo changed) but I think you are on to something there with Lylith maybe zoom in some more to show less black space and even crop out some of the horns... morbid horns are really distinct and you don't need to see all of them to recognize what they are.
Also thought this might be an improvement on my earlier attempt... whatcha guys think? Does one do the job better than the other?
-
@Airhead: That positron is the best so far... instantly conveys him and is unmistakable.
@Suichiro: Much better with the straightened ribs... I also thought the first one was a face and when I couldn't think of any hero
that matched the black hair etc... I started looking for what else it could be and figured out (lol) it was SN's figure.
How about...

Cool! It's about time you grabbed your own little corner of the forums to post up your artz buddy
You should post up some of the buttons you did... and the sig banners... and the graphics and badge you made for the CannonBrawl run...
and when are we having another Cannon Brawl Run anywayz the first was awesome fun... and don't forget to post the...
Ok I'm getting a bit ahead of stuffz here but I'm glad to see you go this route Pyro and I'll be watching this thread with interest to see what develops.
P.S. As for quotes that inspired you to accept your artisty-ness (tm) lets not forget even earlier in the contest when you called yourself a non-artist who set you straight!
Quote:Ok that's not so much inspiring as a Gary Coleman (RIP) style kick in the pants... "Not an artist?... What choo talkin' bout Pyro?!?" but hey it's the thought that counts right?Originally Posted by ChristopherRobin@ Pyro: Nonsense buddy! You have the right to voice an opinion same as anyone... and what's this non-artist baloney?
Are you participating in an Art contest?
Then you are by definition an Artist...... and if you think that's just a technicality and you have no "real skill" well I'd say your latest entries here would beg to differ with you...
P.P.S. Oh yeah and merely by posting here I am displaying what is of course your finest creation of all time.
*polishes up his shiny Pyro made CR button*

I'm going with Kilotonnage, Sapphic Neko and Invincibelle. I had to think about that last one cuz theirs like too much clothing n stuff.

Cool thanks Bubba and Coolio... I backtracked the link and still didn't see anything on the page named calendar... but you can click on today's events at the bottom and then back step the link path at the top... sheesh they sure do a good job of hiding stuff where I would never think to look for it.
Well at least I can find out in advance who's having a B-day in advance (mwhahaha).
-
Hmm never knew the forums had a calendar... don't see it anywhere either. Got a link?
-
Gratz Shia... PL meh face!
Gratz to Pyro and Juggy on 2nd and 3rd too way to bring it guys.
Thanks again Frost for the handy chart so I can verify my numbers... it seems the power of the 2nd place vote was the key this month.

D'oh Happy Belated Uterus Expulsion Day dude!
Well the birthday wishes are belated n' stuffz not the whole expulsion thing...

Quote:I think Wolffe was making a clever reference to this thread... it's one of the funnier threads to ever come off the Justice Server and I thought of it too when Jordan coincidentally mentioned Jerk-hacking... I almost made reference to it in my May FArt entry but thought it might be too obscure.Originally Posted by Blood_Wolffe

2 days left on the contest! Be sure to enter.
I'm liking the new comic as well... copper must have been a challenge to draw so kudos for tacking that.
I may just be tired but I can't think of what tune Copper Cat is playing... is it Beethoven's Fifth? (has an extra DA then perhaps?)
Oh and gratz to Copper and Amerikatt for officially being part of a web comic... you're like pop culture icons n stuffz now.
**keeps fingers crossed for winning the contest**
P.S. Bonus points awarded for the reference to an Arnie quote Jordan.

Hmmm I could almost see that except that it's only the skin that is whited out...
the black in the immediate vicinity and further up the thigh is pure black with no equally bright highlight on it.
Also it's not in the shape of the highlight running along the surface (looks twice as wide as the shine running up
from her knee) it's in the shape of the gaps in the fabric where you should see some skin.
Might just be the way I see it though it could indeed be a highlight that is just
too bright and so stands out and draws attention to itself.

Not sure he looks like the type to beg so much as... punches you into drawing him.
Some cool work there Commander. -
Quote:Nevahz! ...err I mean that would be cool to see and stuffz.Well, to be totally honest I did think the including of the word sour a bit appropriate... Not in an insulting way but rather a mildly teasing one. She does have her sour moments afterall... But mainly it was just the green apple thing. *shrug*
LJ - another cool piece of art! You he on quite the productive roll of late! Heck, if you tried perhaps you could match CR's 40 in 60.
I'd follow along.

I stopped Drawing for almost 8 years so I understand what you're saying HoC.
You do seem to have a talent for it though... it would be a shame to waste it.
(P.S. I started again a few months ago and while it has it's ups and downs I haven't regretted
picking up the pencil again after all this time... it really helps that there is such a supportive art community here.)

Quote:Came out much nicer this time around LG. One thing I might suggest is more contrast in the hair.Ok this time I returned to Doom Therapy.
After seeing how High Lord Creep turned out with low/high lights. I started over fresh with Doomies, so it might not be the same colors i used the first time around.
I gotta say I like it more than my frist go at it.
Doom Therapy: Recolor by Goat.
Some lighter strands and and some darker ones to mix it up a bit would help so the hair doesn't look like it's made of the same stuff as the cape and costume.

Quote:You needn't be an artist to participate (indeed it would be a small community if there were only artists here). If you appreciate artwork you will fit right in.Thanks for the welcome, have been lurking around recently admiring all the prettyness that is in this part of the forum, since I have close to zero artistic skills I was happy when I found this mission and thought I could contribute to a thread here! So all of you keep doing what you do because I approve and I'm sure there are tons more like me who have been lurking and not posting while appreciating it all!
I'm on Union in the EU, theres a bit of RP here and there, not hugely got into it but I've turned up occasionally.
Also if you see something you like that an artist has done tell them so... it doesn't have to be a library just "hey that's cool" works.
Furthermore we can always use more voters in our ongoing FArt (not what it sounds like... it's a Fan Art Challenge abbreviated) contest.
You and any friends from the Euro servers are welcome to participate and everyone gets 3 votes (pick your top 3 favorite pieces each month that you think do a good job of conveying that month's theme).

Wow Doug's paint-overs are getting better and better everytime I see them. Great catch VexXxa.
P.S. out of curiosity why aren't her hair, horns and wings purple (or her eyes blacked out for that matter) is this an alt costume perhaps?
Also aren't Positron's power fx green? Color inconsistencies aside I really like the look of the piece.
Oh and he forgot to color in one part of her leg... it's on her left (the bent one) thigh in the mesh area one piece is white instead of being
skin tone like the rest... oh and also...
*see's the look on Vex's face, clamps hand over mouth and runs away leaving further nits unpicked*

For the new bottom row I'll guess...

Heya Amy, if you are looking for the best place to roleplay that would be Virtue on
the US servers (lots and lots of it there)... not sure about the Euro servers.
Oh and by the way welcome to the best part of the forums!
Edit: Drat Caemgen beat me to it! -
These are great.
I got 8 of the original nine (to be fair the 9th pre-dates my time on the forums but once I found out who it was I remembered coming across art in her gallery and it does represent her well).
Bubba: You did a great job on yours too... I think the matchstick one really stands out with the shapes and colors and Fenian's really summed her up with minimal info. I had to chuckle at The Lounge Crooner (how could anyone not pick him out lol)... only problem I saw was that VexXxa's not horny enough in your depiction...
wait that sounded bad... ummm she needs like more hornz n stuff?
Flahsrains: Yours is graphically very well done and I recognize the Bullseye#2 chest detail I guess I just don't know the character well enough to associate it with that emblem. (P.S. that dark screen shot of a dark hero taken in the dark didn't help much lol)
Airhead: Your Minimal Effort is really well done man I could've instantly picked it out as your character and the way it's positioned makes it read right away as suit jacket over striped shirt and tie to me. That close up detail that Eddy Swan did of your tie is probably how I recognize it so easily since that tie is not an ingame option.
U-Naught: I get the Dagger pattern and the "Shag" hairstyle but not much else from it... could be that I don't know your character well enough either though. One thought I had that might help would be, if that is the 50/50 facemask, putting a white circle for the eye cutout on the left and a blue circle for the eye on the right would make it more distinguishable.
Thornster: Your last two were the best in my opinion as well but I think if you were to combine them it would really stand out as you... the light image on dark background color scheme of the third and the radiating thorns of the fourth except make the parts depicting his horns and mustache about twice the size and lose the text. Something like this maybe?
(yeah I know graphical works like this are not my strong suit)
...hmmm wonder how one of my heroes might look like this? -
We need to do a "Classic Video Game" themed TF run.
Mario Bros, Legend of Zelda, Streetfighter, Punch-Out etc etc I bet people could come up with some cool stuff for that...
or heck it could even be zombified versions of video game characters if ya want to make it a real challenge.
