Quote:Nah by all means speak up, this is a multi-cultural forum from both sides of the pond now and having been on both sides frequently I just recognize there are words/sayings/expressions that won't carry over so well... I try and help wherever I can.And there in lied my problem. (I was too literal)
I got to pay more attention, I'll be quiet now.
Quote:No, no, all comments are appreciated. There is no need to squelch yourself. Certainly not 'literally'!

P.S. If you are ever in England and the guy working the desk at the hotel offers to "come round and knock you up" in the morning... he means a knock at your door or a wakeup call... not the other thing heh. A woman in my tour group was ready to call the Bobby's (cops) over that one until I explained it to her.
So that's what a full on Becaro piece looks like... I've seen so many of his quick commissions in the past I almost thought that was all he did.
Very nice piece Kat, she looks sexy and inviting yet deadly all at the same time... I wonder what her tail is up to this time?

Quote:It's a good idea and I'm not saying it can't be done by any means just that there is a lot more involved than one might suspect if you want a polished result (a Samuraiko level production won't happen overnightI remember someone doing someething like that a few years, I think they called it Queens of Kings...
Though I don't think it was half an hour long per episode.
It would be interesting to work on something like that though.). I tinkered around with the demorecord function (I've even written binds that send you confirmation tells when you start and stop recording) and editing the files many times in the past, I even created a live bio for Chloe Macomber where she narrates the history of the Cabal with tells, emotes, thought bubbles, power fx and a little help from her pet (no voice track though)... I got it done but it was not as simple as I thought it would be.
It would take some time and some organized people who have the apps necessary (and are familiar with them) and have done demo-editing before to really get it off the ground... or people with a lot of spare time on their hands, a willingness to learn from scratch (Zloth's tuts were very helpful to me in the begining) and a bottle of aspirin.

Oh right that makes sense. I already had an account which I used to post in the thread about the contest and thought you guys had one already as well. I just thought there was a problem with the submission part of it... that part isn't very straightforward either.
Added a note to the instructions above. -

Quote:It was indeed called The Queens of Kings and it was done by LizzieLizzie.I remember someone doing someething like that a few years, I think they called it Queens of Kings...

It would be interesting to work on something like that though.
The title is a spoof of the show The King of Queens (personal rank/location of Queens NY) except that with Queens of Kings (sexual orientation/location of Kings Row) it was more like an episodic Will and Grace set in the CoH universe.
It was very well done with a good script and a bunch of tie-ins/inside gags and she had a group of voice actors working with her a different one for each of the speaking parts. etc.
It centers around Captain Yarr who used to be normal until she went on vacation and came back with an eyepatch that was possessed by the spirit of a pirate called Rum (he's hilarious)... the episodes are short enough and it's worth a watch just for the Coh stuff alone (they portray Azuria as a total dingbat and a stoner... it would explain a lot lol).
P.S. More like 7-9 mins apiece... ½ hour episodes would be a tremendous amount of work.

Yeah I do.
Step#1... don't enter so I can haz bettah oddz of winneh teh stuffz...
errr I mean...
You will first need to have to create a ZAM account and sign in or the steps below will not work... so go do that here n' stuff.
Then goto the contest page here.
Hit the red enter now button
from the window that opens click the upload (think that's what it was called)button
then click browse and locate the picture you want to enter on your pc.
Click ok/upload
The new screen you go to will have slide rulers for you to adjust the size of your pic
the top window is the adjustable one that actually contains your image and the bottom window is the preview frame so you can see your changes.
You will need to stretch, shrink or adjust your pic fit inside the border of the green frame.
When it looks correct in the bottom frame give it a title and add any notes you want up top, hit next/yes/accept or whatever the affirmative button is called.
When it comes back to the contest page hit enter now again and you will see a miniature thumbnail of the pic you uploaded in the small window that opens
Fill in your name email etc... hit the submit button.
When you go back to the gallery the pic will not be there as the server takes about 3-5 minutes to update.
Wait a few minutes then hit f5 on your keyboard to tell the server to send you the most recent updated page and your pic will now be in the gallery.
Good luck to you all.

Well most of the tops from GR I was looking at are bulky or look like power armor which you said you didn't want (the probable exception being the one Powerstream is using) and seeing as you really loved the bridal one Vex picked out I went for something similar in that it has good coverage while still showing some skin and also has some partially see through mesh (hex pattern though) and cool shape too it except it's more sharp and not wedding/valentine themed.
The hair is long but put up in a "feisty" double braid so it doesn't get in the way when smashing stuff.
The visor is brand new from the GR set but the mask pattern underneath has a little bit of the classic LJ shape to it and I thought they fit well together.
For the gloves I chose the new organic ones they look like they mean business and you wouldn't want to get hit by somebody wearing them plus the silver spines are another one of those touches that hint at the old costume (which had the triple spikes) only more modern looking.
The belt is one that I almost never use because it doesn't ever look like it's holding anything up it just floats without touching in the front or back but here at last
it looks like it could actually be connecting the fabric in front to the fabric in back and it touches both pieces top and bottom perfectly. The seam follows the mesh all the way around with no gaps and the stripe of the bottoms looks like they tapers right up into the triangle shaped peak of the top on both the front and back making the belt look like it was made custom just for this outfit.
The bottom fits the theme dark and sexy yet stylish, a little showy but still leaving much to the imagination and it matches well with the top.
Went with the new Praetorian style boots as they look reinforced and perfectly suited for Foot Stomping villains of all kinds and not just boots you wear for show. They're large on an 8ft. frame but not over-sized or mechanical looking.
Black and white and silver plus a hint of cool blue is what came to mind when I though a bit darker yet sexier take on Judgment.
All in all I think it's a totally new version of LJ (a reboot if you will) but if you look closely a lot of the elements suggest a tie in with her original suit (eyes covered, mask pattern, forearm spikes etc) so it has that hint of familiarity to it.
Cheers Bobby,

Quote:The devs are pretty cool but no way would they help alter their intellectual property... this is definitely a mod (one of Electro's if I remember right) with an audio tracked dubbed in.That was impressive. Can you actually find the designs in the game or did you have a Dev help you?
Pretty hilarious work though Chimoru.

Quote:Clearly I meant sweat... with four arms he must ummm sweat a lot... yeah that's it.You're a sick, sick, sick little man!!!
(besides, this is a family game and since they wear no clothes they must have no naughty bits! They obviously reproduce by cell division?)
P.S. That's a sick, sick, sick large man... being 6'3" and built I'm hardly what anyone would call little.
Quote:Did you miss that loincloth, mate? Arachnoids wear loincloths. Still, porous floor + no apparent toilets is pretty bad...
Uh oh. lol
Haha is that Mr.Yuck? Haven't seen him since I was a kid wondering what was in the cleaning bottles under the kitchen sink.

Oooh wait I got one... his human mouth wrote a check his iron butt couldn't cash?
While I wasn't able to provide any kind of useful help (my comics creation knowledge is extremely limited) during your work on this I wanted to say I really like the layout and direction you took in the end and I think I even learned a few things here. Good work Juggertha.

Well yeah... the Carnival of Shadows didn't exist 20 years ago.

Quote:Lol it's just me noticing stuff again... in this case the prices of Caemgen Comics up in the corner of your Fenian piece. Even taking into account the exchange rate CAD vs USD Canadian's are being overcharged for the same exact thing.Hmmm, never was sure just how CR's last comment applied but....
......................
I guess only someone who's traveled outside their home country a lot like I have or who thinks of money exchange rates would've picked up on that... if they had noticed the prices were different in the first place... nevermind.
What makes art for an individual is such a subjective thing and there aren't good classes of designation for machine assisted versus hand drawn (that contest on ZAM asked for "hand drawn" but got many digital pieces for example) and now with tablets and digital pens, technically you can say work done in photoshop is also "hand drawn". Or for collaborative vs solo creation (precious few artists actually create all their own tools or models) so most things could technically be called a collaboration and lets face it, if there were any good lines to delineate such things artists would be pushing the boundaries to blur the lines all the time.
Essentially it comes down to a judgment call, what is art to one may not be to another. Is poser work true art? A case can be made for both sides but I would say it comes down to how you use it. There are many shades of gray here but several factors I think are relevant such as...
To what extent an artist is having to make decisions and choices vs. having it pre-made for him comes into play... also quality of the work (anyone can apply paint to a canvas but it doesn't automatically make it art) is a factor and skill on the artists part but it's more than that.
Complexity is also a factor for when a thing is so complex that while it's technically possible for someone else to recreate it the chances are next to nill. For example when an animator creates a scene say for the matrix they often times are using custom tools made inhouse and rendering a thing that is incredibly complex... could another animator at a different studio create the same scene? They might get close but there are so many thousands of little decisions made and intricacies imbued that it's virtually impossible. Furthermore you can also often times recognize which animation house or even which animator is doing the work (look at Zoic for Firefly/Serenity for example... or show people a movie like Toy Story or Finding Nemo and they will recognize it's done by Pixar) which to me means there is art happening on some level.
That brings me to a seldom mentioned factor (probably because it opens a huge can of worms)... duplication. Duplicative ability is a factor for me as well and it's why creating stuff in poser using just what is available in the software is not "true" art for me anymore than designing a hero in the CC is... if someone else can come along and arrange the same pieces and create the exact same character exactly the same (identical detail) as you have then you haven't really created art I would say. Before anyone objects and says their original character is their own creation and a work of art I would say that the OC itself is a thing that can and often does exist on it's own outside the game (many people have remade characters that long predate this game) you are just using the City of Heroes premade engine to express it visually... and so you can go kick some butt with it.
When you can do something unique with the tools that no one else can (like creating your own unique mods to make your character a new unduplicatable creation in the CC or painting over poser models in photoshop) come along and duplicate exactly then you are coming up more to the level of collaboration and at some point when you have enough skill that you can create most all of the elements in a piece yourself (light, color, composition, value, accurate figure anatomy) and only use poser or the CC as a basic visual reference or for consistency (i.e. her cape, when there is no wind, comes down to the back of her knees and not her ankles) you are coming up to the level of what I would call true art.
Is poser true art? Most of it that I've seen I would say is not. When you use a program to render a characters hands knowing full well that the program will render them incorrectly every single time (but you don't have the skill to improve upon them at all) then something is lacking. While saying "true art" may sound snobbish, for lack of a better term, poser work won't be true art for me until the person working with it can use their own skills to compensate for all the inherent flaws (fake eyes, plastic-y fingers, deformed joints, unrealistic textures, ropey hair that defies gravity etc)... basically when I can no longer tell (or barely tell) it was created in poser just by looking at it. So far no one has done it yet but the skilled poser users are getting closer all the time.
I'm really rushed here (clients waiting) so I may not be expressing things as clearly as I would like but hopefully this adds something meaningful to the discussion or at least gives people some food for thought. Cheers

Heya DD, Ercassiel's hair and lips are both much improved with the corrections you made and you did real nice on the fire boots and Witch leathers.
Amerikatt is off to a great start too... is she perched on someones shoulder like a shoulder pet?
If I might suggest something, the underside of her chin should be fuzzy and not a hard corner.

Methinks Cuppa is being clever not literal... crying over spilt milk is an expression in the states and probably other places as well.
-
...At the very least you don't want to be in the cage under him, with a porous floor/ceiling overhead.
I mean with four arms and lots of time on his hands (so to speak) no telling what will...
lets just say it's good you have a helmet on.

I should be able to make this one tonight, I'm always willing to learn new info or digital
techniques and I've been sketching a lot of faces lately so I'm really looking forward to this one.
Also BW not sure if that coloring you did of War Witch got saved or not but if it still exists I would like
to put a pic of it in my collab gallery with a link back to your page if that's cool with you. Can PM me if you have any ?'s

Hmmm I guess I should've verifyed that myself before posting up stuffz, can anyone verify or point to some post somewhere saying the NDA is lifted?
Hercules, remember where you read that it had been lifted?

I put together a little slideshow here with some of the more unusual things I've come across.
Some things others might not think to post...
The resistance has their own lingo and some of it's pretty hilarious, I don't about you but I
refuse to live in any so called "utopia" where getting baconized is a bad thing.
Sometimes you need to just stop and smell the flowers... but try not to get planted.
New Load Screens.
I too am rockin a Kinetics Scrapper... whole lots of Kin powersets
cropping up in the various archetypes it seems. Also they added new...
Apparently in utopia they still drive cars from the 70's

Hey there Generilisk I know something to say... welcome to the best part of the forums and gratz on snagging a piece of DD artz.

I posted something up but I had to chuckle a bit when I saw the other entries. Almost half of them aren't even possible to make in the the CC. One entry is a floating eyeball for grape's sake.
I think one might be a photograph/manip rather than a "hand drawn" piece.
Oh well I suppose it's neither here nor there, good luck everyone who entered and Thankyou Deebs for... you know... not following directions.
