Oh hi.
Personally I had moved on from this because I could see no good outcome or positivity here.
It left me completely uninspired to draw anything for a long while now much less submit
an entry and I loathed the idea of ribbons as the theme for the grand finale.
Also there has been a lot going on in my life recently keeping me busy and I just wasn't willing to devote any time to such a negative.
Even having a cash reward for the contest was not enough to sway me to come back (though I really do appreciate the gesture Bayani).
Upon popping in last night to see what had become of this something DJ said caught my eye.
Donate the money to charity.
I may not want/need $50 from this contest but there are many worthy charities that sure could use it.
I have several great causes both local and abroad I used to support but have not been able to give to
them in a long time now. Now I see a way to make something good come out of this contest.
So I'm back in and playing to raise awareness (and hopefully money) for one of my favorite local charities the 2nd Harvest Food Bank.
I have no idea what kind of piece I will be able to create in the time I have left but I will try my best.
P.S. 5pm? Since when is that the deadline??
It's always been midnight (11pm my time) before... any chance we can get the usual?
I will try and have at least something done in time either way but midnight would be much better.
I may just end up pulling an all nighter. Wish me luck. -
Quote:Your logic is neither sound nor valid as your premise only has merit if you completely ignore the guaranteed immunity............. If you don't want to do it, but Shia does, I would say Shia wins by default. Likewise, if Shia doesn't want to continue, you'd win by default. If neither of you want to continue, I'd just say the event fizzled without reaching the end.
Two people left, one cannot lose and the person hosting/officiating is leaving. The outcome is a win by default.
@DJ1: Thanks man.
Yeah I did put in a lot of hard work (as did many others) and I'm glad someone appreciates it. Also yeah I was wondering what happened to Lousy Day too... anyone know if he is still posting or did his subscription run out? I would think he could still have posted an entry to DA had he wanted to and someone could've linked it here for him... I hope everything is ok where ever you're at LD.
Edit: Holy flurry of activity while I responded to BW.
@Powerstream Caemgen summed the position up.
@Frost and Caemgen and peeps in general: My biggest problem is getting to the end and having nobody there to officially run it. It would be like if Paragon Studios held another big contest, they set up the rules and declared a theme for the upcoming event but then mid-way through they go out of business and disappear. They don't return in time and no one is there to oversee the contest... what would happen? The contest would end prematurely and that is what I saw happening here.
If Bayani is willing to substitute for Wassy then my position would be I want to talk to both Shia and Pyro and know if
a) Shia is still in.
b) If Pyro wants in or is staying out.
c) If the theme of ribbons is ok with the others.
d) Would those remaining accept Bayani as substitute for Wassy. (I see no problem with it at the moment)
I sent you both PM's I'm willing to talk and see what we come up with if you guys are.
@Bayani: Thankyou for stepping up and offering a potentially viable alternative. I too would like to see a better ending to this contest than what some are trying to make of it. I honestly wasn't thrilled with the "win by default" but it seemed a better choice than going on with no one in official capacity to make a ruling in case of controversy... it could have gone from bad ending to worse.
*emote salutes Bayani*

Actually if Shia was the one that had immunity I would happily congratulate him on his victory and on being the FArt champion for the year.
If neither of us had the advantage I would agree with a tie or a no contest but neither of those are the case.
This...
Quote:..........I'll give Shia and CR a final theme if they want to do something a little more epic for their last show, but otherwise, CR wins.
Quote:..........In 100% fairness, doing that declares CR on the winner, because he won immunity last month.

Congratulations Wassy that is great RL news indeed. Go get em girl.
However it's sad news for this forum (you will be missed) and for this contest though. Most of the artists that should be competing have dropped and if the host/admin that is in charge of running the whole thing is leaving now too, then that to me says contest over. I take Wassy's official ruling to mean that my piece this month constitutes a valid entry so my immunity stands.
I wouldn't choose a win by default but it's better than nothing.
Thanks to all who participated/voted/followed along and I hope we have a better go of it next year (if there is a FArt next year... perhaps an art jam is the way to go).
My apologies to Toxic Shia for an anti-climatic ending. -
Hey there DZ131, great idea for a thread and welcome to the best part of the forums.
By the way do you have a thread with your art here somewhere or a DA page?
Edit: Oops forgot the link. Have a go at
Xllusya if you like.

Sooo this is an add for joining a Multi-MMO SG? Care to elaborate?
-
@Johnnykat: Telling someone they are making numerous errors ≠ (does not equal) mudslinging.
Also I'm not avoiding the question at all I just realize I am in no position to to make an official ruling on it.
Neither are you. Neither is a mod.
Asking for a mod's perspective is just a diversion as he/she could only give their opinion the same as you could... and it would be equally useless in deciding this contest.
It is for the FArt admin alone to decide.
You seem not to understand this though as you don't say "you think" Shia should win or present what you think you see to Wassy and leave it at that, instead you declare that Shia should indeed have already won. By the time you get around to saying "in my opinion", in parenthesis... at the end, you are already speaking in past tense and congratulating him on his victory like it's a forgone conclusion... that somehow because you declare it's over, it must be over. Your flawed opinion has no bearing here.
So I say again you are wrong and it is not your decision to make.

Oh cool City Hall backdrop. Nice work.
So that remains in the background while you surf or is it homepage only?

Hey gratz on another 50 and on the Taclobanon artz.

Quote:Not too shabby DC. The two things I would address right away with that system though:Two words for you guys today regarding my new computer...
Dual. Core.
[URL="http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0332780"[/URL]
And yes, that is my new babyAdded an Nvidia 8400 SE video card
1. Upgrade the graphics card. Since it is using onboard video +shared memory and has no dedicated card it would not be suitable for gaming. (Sounds like you did that already... an 8400 is a decent step up from onboard video)
2. Upgrade to a matched pair of RAM in the correct banks. That chipset is about 3 years old but it does support dual channel memory. By having a mismatched set (2GB in one slot and 1GB in the other) you are either defaulting back to single channel mode or are making the memory controller attempt to run in dual mode with an unmatched pair. Some can do this but others can have problems down the line. Plus your may be bottlenecking your dual core processor and not getting it's full potential. I would take out the 1GB and get another 2GB that matches the one you have in there now... talking about $35 or so to solve this.
Just my 2 influ and hey gratz on being able to turn on UM now.

Quote:Your acronym is problematic. With how little I pay attention to these boards and by proxy any posts you make, I have decided to agree with you! It's a terrible idea, but I have a better one!
We'll call it the Shia Happy Imagination Tour!
What we'll do is we'll get together once a month and all draw things in the same subject together, thus touring the imaginary art world together in a happy manner, hand in hand! It can't fail!

for the TLDR crowd.

Yay Christina Hendricks art with Mal! That's some shiny work, thanks Wassy.
Does she play a temptress on Madmen too? If so I need to watch more back episodes!
What I've seen so far she just makes small appearances as a secretary here and there.
Also Even though he didn't recognize the author of the work (understandable
on such a small screen) he was paying you a compliment Bayani.
P.S. You guys can't read into the future? S'matta wit choo?

The armor looks much nicer now DD and wohooo congratz on opening up for commissions.
P.S. If it helps anyone in the United States wanting to get something from DeeDee Productions the current exchange rate is 1.00 USD = 0.78 EUR.
While I cannot mention specific costs of the services here I will say you should not be concerned... we're talking less than a $3 swing. So grab one already n' stuffz!
When she actually opens that is. -
Quote:I stated my intentions for this piece very clearly from the beginning. Quoting myself from the August 2010 Fan Art Battle thread at the beginning of the month:I haven't commented on it, because I don't SEE it. What (I think) people are saying is part of a nipple looked to me like it was just a line weight choice. That side of the bikini was shadowed, so it was a heavier line at the bend. If CR INTENDED for it to be otherwise, than it is disqualifying.........
Quote:...........Don't worry I'll make sure and cover the naughty bits.............."
Quote:His last FArt submission looks racy and most definitely "edgy", IMO.
If you mean my current submission let me say I presume Caemgen's statement (which you are attempting to rebut) refers to my history on this forum when he says I'm not known for being racy. I have a body of work consisting of over 100 pieces which you could look through to establish what my history here is.
I also have almost 50 pieces on DA too. You know Deviant Art, the site where you can post damn near anything short of an outright sexual act (sometimes even those slip through) and get away with it, what do you see in my gallery there? Disney cartoon characters from the Lion King and Lilo and Stitch side by side with City of Heroes gift art with some Dragons and StarWars stuff thrown in. You've seen tons of my artwork VexXxa how would you characterize my history?
@Johnnykat: For those that want a short version of what I'm about to say here it is.
--------------------------------------------------------------
You're wrong Johnnykat.
A lot.
What qualifies and what doesn't qualify for this contest is not your decision to make.
Who should win the contest is not your decision to make.
--------------------------------------------------------------
For those who want the line by line break down of just how wrong he is read on for the list...
Despite what you publicly state I don't like doing this (you have no idea what I like or do not like, stop visiting my intentions with baseless accusation) and I generally do my best to ignore the sheer volume of wrongness in your posts (factual, contextual, semantic etc etc etc) but every so often it gets to be too much in one confined space or you direct it at me forcing me to respond. So as to not further depress the thread though lets try it with a bit of humor.
Lets play a little game of "How many times can Johnnykat be wrong in one thread."
Quote:LOL...classic, yes dismiss my points under the disclaimer of "tirade."
2. Dismiss: Her post was not a dismissal it was a correction... you had your facts wrong... again.
3. Disclaimer: It was not a disclaimer either since she did not deny you a claim (she just pointed out you were wrong) nor is she revoking responsibility or affiliation with your words nor is she limiting the scope of a contractual obligation.
4. Classic: It was not a classic example of anything.
5. LoL: I doubt you truly laughed out loud.(yes this last one was teh jokez... let's call it 4½
)
All that was just one sentence. Slow down man are going for a record or something?
6. "Fair enough, in regards to Tartar" Fair enough is something I say when I make a point and someone else has a compelling counter point. What actually happened here is you were wrong yet again and never bothered to even check your facts before spouting misinformation if that's what it means to you then yeah... fair enough.
7. Bonus wrong! His name is Tartyrsause. You repeatedly call him "Tartar" which isn't even a correct abbreviation of his spelling... it's a condiment.
8. What you claim is a Nipple: It's not.
You're referring to the dark line along her right micro-kini strap I take it? ahhh but you know her left micro-kini strap has a dark line along it's outside border too, it's up near her hair, but I don't see you mentioning that one... I guess by your incredible "dark line near the bikini edge must be a nipple" logic her left nipple must be sticking out of her shoulder then.I think you and the shaper are seeing what you want to see.
9. "Shia through attrition and adherence to the rules should just have this FArt title now.": Wrong. I have broken no rules this month. Furthermore you are not the FArt administrator Johnnykat, you do not get a say in the outcome any more than I do. Despite your declaring it, your statement is really just your own flawed opinion. That and $3 will get you a latte.
10. "Ironic your burned-out theme sort of summarizes how this year's FArt burned out." This is not irony. I'm guessing you thought you were pointing out Situational Irony (since Pyro's statement is not even close to Tragic, Socratic or any other form of irony) but this result is not an unexpected surprise contrary to what everyone thought would happen... to some it was not only expected but predicted pretty much from the beginning.
11. Bonus Wrongsauce! Burned-out ≠ Fire Sale. The two have very different meanings
12. " I find it even more irritating when someone instigates the situation and then retaliates and complains about it even though they originally instigated it. And you know who you are." BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Wait really... your not joking here? Come on you cannot be serious! The best recent example of someone doing this is YOU Johnnykat.
Have you forgotten YOU were the one responsible for the Bayani flame boot incident? You were the both the creator of the piece/source of the problem and the instigator. Ring any bells?
Also you keep mentioning it over and over and over and over again.
You find it irritating? Now that IS ironic. Lol!
(and yes I really laughed out loud)
P.S. Hey didn't you like already quit the contest n' stuff?

Quote:That's because it's the Cimeroran armor from the looks of it. You would only see it in your CC on characters who have been to Cimerora and unlocked it.You're glad I got stuck doing the armor part? *laughs* why thanks dude! :P
The shoulder pads were no problem tbh... it's the chest I'm having trouble with atm.
But I've asked for more references (and hope I'll get 'm soon), because the references I have do not show a good visual of the suit. And I can't figure out how it works... nor can I find it in my own CoH to have a good look at it :s.
No worries I took a few close up shots of it for ya.
Here it is in white...

I like how the colors came out on Willow but my favorite of those is Broken. Something about her expression. Very nice.

So would that be Darque Chocolate?
I'm just surprised/happy to see my face in one of these.
Gonna take a guess and say Military Brat and Mythology/Religion?

Cool pic Master Blade and the tagline fits in a sinister sort of way (did you come up with it or is it from the game?). Thanks.

Quote:Hahaha see it's almost like we've done 2 collaborations already................ at least I won't have to worry about the neck shades, as Mr. CR has done that himself already *giggled*
Oh an I'm glad you got stuck doing the armor part... those shoulder pads are a royal pain for me and yours came out great.
The second one is better to my eye. Now just blend it a bit better so there is no hard visible line between the two dark shadows and I think you've got it.
(If the lighting for the piece is going to be really harsh and bright then visible lines between shades do happen
but if the lighting is softer or diffused then the more blended the better)
-
Yes indeed that looks much better.
There is a small white space near her jawline though that you could probably pencil in so the shadow goes right up to the line.
If seeing it in other pencil art helps at all, my most recent work on Battle Maiden is a pretty good example as even in a tiny thumbnail you can see
what having a well placed shadow under the chin can do. Click the thumbnail and then click on the "Download Image" button if you want to see it at the largest setting.
