@Kid Spark: No worries man.
Yeah I've heard that (except the bit about the cat... everyone has loved the cat tugging the ribbons) about the unfinished crowd several times now.
Short version... I might've been able to fill the crowd with all new art of other forumites, and planned to, had the deadline been midnight (which it has been every other month) but it was 7 hours shorter than expected this month so I just did what I could right up until the last moment then posted what I had.
Tried explaining it a few times now.
So you're saying something more like this?
Quote:Yeah people tell me that a bunch too (that I notice little details... it's kind of inside joke lol) and I'm not ducking the question, honestly I'm of two minds on the subject.CR. Dude you seem to notice small details alot can you honestly say you don't see what I'm talking about in Shia's piece?
On the one hand I want Shia's piece to be valid so we can have a legit finale to this contest. Also if there are not two valid entries then there is no prize money and that means I cannot win anything for charity.
On the other hand I do see what you are saying. There are certainly some very adult themes and imagery expressed that I think go over the line.
However my thoughts on the issue don't decide anything anymore than anyone else's here do. Officially it's up to Bayani how he wants to deal with it. He inherited the judges position when Wassy stepped down and it's his prize money so he can accept Shia's piece or not as he sees fit.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
@Suichiro: DJ is saying you came up with the idea. It's a true statement... you did.
You are saying Wassy chose the theme. Also a true statement... she did.
You are both right... the two ideas are not mutually exclusive you know.
My hand made "roll eyes" emoticon mocks you both.
P.S. "Lightning Rod of Hatred" would actually be a sweet name for an electric based villain or vigilante lol.

Quote:Lol he still makes me laugh too. I think it's the beard..............Buddy Caemgen still makes me laugh out loud. ..................
Honestly, that was a really creative way to make use of the theme.
Thanks.
Quote:Since CR actually showed up at the end and came through, I'm going to bow out of voting since I think both ideas area pretty equally matched...............
OMZ! The subtle suprise plot twist no one saw coming!

I can appreciate what he is saying I just don't think it's much help in a thread that is supposed to be for voting but then I would never try to silence him either. From what I gather he is pretty new to the forums so I can forgive the lack of netiquette. He does make some points I agree with (though his tone might be getting in the way of his message) and others that I don't.
There is no doubt that had the "dark line" been ruled a nipple I would've been out and the contest would have ended long before this thread existed. Also it's true I would've gladly reworked the area in question had someone pointed it out before the deadline (would've been nice). It didn't work out that way but I don't fault BW for his words. He called it like he saw it and he made his point. I made my counterpoint and Wassy made the call.
For me it's all water under the bridge now but it's a good example. People make their points and debate their opinions and even though I was not happy with the remarks at the time I would not want them silenced either. If there is a problem or something people don't like I think they should speak up and I've always been open to, and gotten a bunch of useful, critique. As long as people are being constructive I'm ok with it.
I agree with DJ that the odds are not in my favor here but I don't agree there is any conspiracy against me. Realistically I know I'm submitting a black and white piece against a color one, traditional vs. digital, less than a day vs. plenty of time and the theme I feel is way more suited to Shia than me etc. etc. I know some people are choosing Toxic Shia's piece over mine for these reasons and that's fine I knew all this going in and didn't run from it. I just hope no one here is voting based on the thread drama.
Win lose or draw at least I showed up and gave my best effort and we as a forum will finally have a real end to this contest.

Wow you definitely know when you are looking at a Bakart. Beautiful.
He did an amazing job on the Rikti's face too.
Were those wings your idea or his interpretation?

Quote:Silence! I keeel yuuu! You need to watch Achmed the Dead Terrorist nao. o.o
Also Sa NaTa Ah Na and it has a part 2 and 3. These are his uncensored versions lol. You should also check out some Walter.
He has other characters (Sweet Daddy D, Bubba J, Melvin the Superhero) but Peanut, Jose, Walter and Ahcmed are probably his funniest.

This one is more complex but how about Ctrl+Shift+Alt+S which does "Save for Web" (I use it for saving the finished piece into a .jpg for posting) I find myself using it all the time.
Also Ctrl+Z is undo
Ctrl+Y is redo
Z is for Zoom (the magnifying glass)
etc etc.

Cool artz MCG is this a commission you got or did you create it? It's kinda like a terminator meets demonspawn.

Hey there IBones. Oh man I went through the same thing a few months back, trying to make the jump to working digital from traditional mediums (it still doesn't feel quite right to draw on my lap while the lines appear on the monitor in front of me but it's getting easier) and am still a n00b about a lot the of the things photoshop can do but I'm learning more all the time.
Layers occasionally goof me up too. Just trying to wrap my head around a 2D version of my art divided into layers as opposed to a 3D one layer object I can hold in my hand when done. Also I sometimes forget what things are on what layers or get lost in the stack... it comes with time and practice I guess.
Have you made any progress or run into any big obstacles yet?
Also do you have a link to any of your work we can see?

Here's my Super SAM with cape!
Also, the sidebar thingy was black with a white stripe... this morning, I painted it pink *giggles*
Also here is the tinkering that I mentioned a while
back I did with the CoDF collab.

Congratz to Powerstream and Attache both. Great designs you two.

The forearm shields remind me a bit of the power armor from movie Tron. So cool!

Aw man I love stick figures. I used to draw little stick figure ninjas as a kid.
Stickify Shieldara!

Hey man great to see you got the ball rolling on this. I have several commitments already waiting
(3 small commissions and one large one) but if I get some time later in the month I'll try and add something up here.
Cheers.

Quote:Hey Municipal, just click the following:................Finally: How do you put pictures under your name?
1. "User CP" at the top of your page
2. Choose "Edit Avatar" from the links on the left
3. Tick the radio button that says "Use Custom Avatar"
4. Type in or paste the address where your pic is held.
Note: You will need the pic hosted online somewhere... Photobucket is a good free option if you can't host it yourself.
Also the image must be in either .jpg, .gif, or .png format and can be no larger than 100x100 pixels in size for it to work properly. Cheers,
Christopher
P.S. Welcome to the forums.

Quote:Sorry I've been away for a while Lexxx, it looks like you are off to a great start on Shieldara though and I look forward to seeing it progress.Hey guys, sorry for lack of pictures. =( I had no idea college would be consuming my time so much. Have a little update on CR's prize for the contest. After I finish Shieldara, I will work on Johnstone and Lord Goat's prizes. =D I apologize for the slowness of it, but I will try to work on it more. Have to get caught up on school work. -_-
And here's a little something that I've been doing during class.
That is my math notebook, and pictured on it are my characters Gene-Tech ad Dead Naught. I have three notebooks, one for each class, and each one will be decorated with a certain theme. I won't be adding any more of my toons to this one, but if you would like one of your characters to be immortalized on my math notebook, send me some pics and I would be happy to add him/her/it. =D
Cool notebook sketch too.

@Warlord Mars.
I appreciate the time you spent going over my piece and I probably should've mentioned it somewhere but I was just so tired after being up most of last night. Heck I'm still in zombie mode now (braaaaains!) but I assure you that's an accurate approximation of how long it took me to do that piece. It is not artificially inflated in any way nor does it include time spent on any previous drawings (Buddy Caemgen etc). If you did look through my thread you surely noticed I post up how long the all my drawings take in real time and that should give you a fair idea just how long these entries take. What you may not know is that each individual piece of these designs is drawn really large and fills up an 8.5x11 page so I can get lots of detail work into them. So Xllusya's head is on it's own separate full page and took almost 2hours alone, Xllusya's figure is full size on another sheet, the curtains another, the wings (mirrored) fill another page etc. etc. Then all of them have to be scanned (multiple times along the way too so I can post up the WIP stages later for people who've asked me nicely to show my steps), cropped, resized, cleaned up (removing scanner dots by hand sucks), brightness contrast adjusted so they match all the others parts and then shuffled around/seamed up into place.
Plus while I would love to say every drawing I attempt comes out perfect and in it's finished form the very first try that's just not the case. Some parts take many drafts to get something usable and there is a minor mountain of crumpled up paper balls (drawings that didn't make the cut) overflowing my little trash can now as a result. On top of that I made a few costly mistakes along the way like one of the wings being too big for the page so the tip feathers were cut off. I tried to fix it in PS but it stuck out like a sore thumb (like the unfinished runway does compared to the rest of the design) so I ended up drawing the last few feathers multiple times on a separate sheet until I got it to fit and then seamed it onto the rest of the wing... you can still see the line if you look close but I did my best to hide it.
If anything that 13½ hour time estimate is a little conservative.
Finally I knew everyone would recognize that some of the faces in the crowd were drawn previously as I don't really make a secret of my free gift artz, birthday sketches or contest prizes (my new artz thread is the 2nd most viewed art thread on the forums after David Nakayama's) but what it came down to in the end was time.
I had half a dozen new figure sketches started (including the Malleable Mechanic, Nezumi-ko, Sapphic Neko, TA, a Burnt Matchstick etc and I briefly entertained the idea of starting a thread to see if anyone else wanted in as I have done in the past) that I wanted to use to fill out the crowd but several hours of work into them I knew they wouldn't be complete in time so I either had to shrink the stage/curtains/composition and have it be close in on Xllusya with Amerikatt flying past with the crown and ribbon while the Lounge Crooner sang Miss America (Paragon) off from stage left or find a way to fill in the crowd faster. There was nothing against it in the rules and several other pieces submitted in this years contest used their own previous work as background or filler so I chose to go with the filled in crowd so my piece didn't look so sparse. It's my own fault for being away for so long and then trying to pull off something of this scale with less than one day until the deadline... I accept that. I did the best I could with the time I had.
Ironically, I thought if the seating gallery looked too empty people would think I hardly spent any time on this.

Ok here it is but I suggest you click the pic (which will take you to DA) and then click the download button
to see it full size.
Yeah so I ran out of time and couldn't finish up the stage/runway or the curtain like I wanted. I also wanted to add 3 more people (2 under Amerikatt and one below Grey Ming) to the audience. I was just about to detail and blend the ribbon going from the flowers to Amerikatt's mouth when my "post it now or miss the deadline alarm went off" hopefully what I was able to finish was good enough.
About 13½ hours work and 15 individual drawings (crown, wings, Xllusya's head, her body, Lounge crooner etc are all drawn on separate sheets of paper and were assembled in Photoshop) with almost no sleep went into this but at least I got something in on time. Phew! -
Submitted to the contest page on DA... I'll have a copy up here in a sec.
