Lol don't know about god... mebe Demi-zod of photo phixinz.
Well I've traveled all over the world and taken many hundreds of pictures but didn't always have such a great camera so
I taught myself how to fix up photos out of necessity more than anything. It can be a fun challenge sometimes too.
Thanks guys, decided to try another Dante's this time.
Corrected the blue-ish cast in the shadows and the red-ish eye glare.
I had to kind of guess at the real color of his eyes (went with slate blue)
and that his shirt was black. Also fixed up the skin tone and the dark circles
under his eyes and got rid of some background artifacts and dust flecks.
Couple little blemishes corrected for good measure.
Cheers!
P.S. Don't ask why I fixed the pit marks in the wall behind him... they just had to go.
Hong Kong Phooey FTW!
Lol nope. Believe it or not I'm not an artist by trade either (it's for the most part a self taught hobby).
I build custom computers for a living while I study other areas of interest.
-
Also I took a whack at fixing the over exposed (heh) pic of Anasthesia above...
much trickier but I think it shows her off better now.
Cheers!

The process is described in the patch notes too.

He's only the "2nd to the Last Mohican" in the thread.
Quote:It's a Dell Dimension E520 at least that is what it says on the front, I am not computer literate so if you asks for the specs, um yeah it has a monitor a keyboard and a mouse. :P
with the midship videocard vent, just curious is all (I'm something of a computer hardware geek).

It should be noted that you need to be signed in to DA to see past the mature filter. So just don't sign in to DA from a work PC.
If things can get past the filter or it would be a problem to have nudity appear on your screen while at work you can just avoid DA altogether until you get home.
Could Sensei have tagged it NSFW? Sure but ultimately it's up to the individual what links they click, take responsibility for your own actions.
P.S. That comment against the artists in Sensei's gallery and her sense of artistic taste was uncalled for and frankly, pretty childish.
-
Ahh so that's the distinction. I figured someone clever
(who also has a FB page, as I do not) would come along and solve it.
Cheers.
P.S. Cool 'hawk Johnstone, have you tried to make a character with hair/appearance like yours in game as well?
-
Doesn't look like BAB to me (other than being black and muscular)... he only seems to appear in art done by Felsus so maybe an OC of the artist?
Also kind of curious if this is a continuation from the last piece where she was seducing him up on a rooftop... things take a turn for the rough?

Here's one of my favorite shots of Dark Aedan my latest 50.

Great find on ArtGutierrez and some really nice stuff thusfar. Looking forward to seeing more of your collection.

Quote:Oooh very nice! Welcome to world of digital coloring DD you're off to a great start.Because I like colours but am not good with them on paper, I thought I'd give it a digital try with Paint Shop Pro 9. I actually read a "how to" book about the program and have now finally worked out how to use layers. Well the theory that is. Actually doing so is a whole other subject!
I have a few scanned png's on my pc to use for practise.
Here's my first tryout. Very ...VERY.. basic colouring.
Chichester Dawson (user Welshman_EU)
I still need to learn more about using layers and the right colours I'm afraid, to get the shading and stuff added to the drawing. Tips and Tricks are always welcome!
*waves*
Sorry so slow to see this I've been repeatedly buried in snow for several days in a row now. Digging myself out (and a neighbor who was injured) has been exhausting.
What about a yarn ball laced with catnip?

Me and my preggo fiance =)
Thanks alot chris!! I learn something new everyday..
Learning something new about image posting is always good...
But circumventing Facebook's "you must log in to see this image" and making them host for you... Priceless -
Quote:You may be right about them blocking links. Not working sorry. I think FB blocks hotlinking. Try uploading it to photobucket.com and hotlink it there.
It works on your image because I hosted that on Photobucket.Still curious if it works on Facebook.
Quote:I tried to do that Mr. Robin, but when I right click it I do not see a "copy link location" I see a copy and a copy shortcut. I am trying to post a photo from my facebook account too.
If not just getting a free photobucket account and putting it up there is quick and simple to do.
Edit: I see you did that already 2short.
Very nice pic too.
Hey is that a Dell 5150?

............oh and in the photo I happen to be at the computer playing CoX. :P
Quote:I'm at work or i'd be in my bunk
And CR - you like Lady's hair color so much because she could play Fenian with it??
As for the facebook image, I suspect you cannot link right to it. Facebook doesn't seem like a hosting site - they want you logged in for anything...

Just echoing that Cashoo sometimes takes forever to respond. I noted her for a commission way back when she
started this thread and she took like 4 months (and two more notes as well) to get back to me.
I Pm'd her here a couple times as well although to be fair her CoH account
may or may not have lapsed some time after I sent them?
I got tired of waiting and let it go. I'm patient but not that patient.
Shortly thereafter she did a freebie for me in this thread and I agree
with most everyone here that her artwork is exceptional and I am happy with and
appreciative of the art she did of my character, just not thrilled with the lack of communication.
Sidenote: She is very responsive if you ask her something during a livestream but people
are there to chat, have fun and watch her create stuff... it didn't seem like a good time to bring up business.
-
Hmmm, well I don't have access to FB to test it for you but if you are willing to try something quick...
Goto the picture you want to show on facebook and right-mouse-click on it.
From the menu that appears look for an option called "Copy Image Location" and click it.
Come here and open a posting window and click once in the white space then hit ctrl+v (press and hold down the control key and press V then release both)
it should create a line of text that points to the image.
Last step, at the very beginning of the line of text add the following.
and at the very end add
[/img]
then hit preview post. Does it show the image?

Pics of me, @Anasthesia, my tatts, an adopted cat, a scary santa and more.(Not on FB, can't see pic)
I imagine it might... for those that are on FB. Is it that hard to throw up a direct link?
Quote:And to keep the topic on track, I found a more recent, non costume picture of me. Taken in October 2010.
...is that a glowing jewish zombie on the mantle?
Quote:Me
Sorry about the size, I'm pretty much tech illiterate and I think that's as big as my phone can make them lol
How about...
I quadrupled the resolution, corrected the color, contrast, hue (etc) and removed a few artifacts.
That's about as big as I can make it without it getting terribly pixelated.

Quote:Encouraging people not to procrastinate with a "very minor" point bonus is fine with me but it should it should never be enough to compete with the voting and being early should never be the end goal.Originally Posted by Tartyrsause..good idea, most artists need a kick in the *** to get started, it should help a LOT with

P.S. Tartyrsause you may want to read some of what's above before posting... the early points (as they stand now) are available to all not just the first person.
Edit: Think I read it and started to post before the edit but yeah reread it now and see you did read the OP.

-Simple is tried and true.
-Complex can work but only if it's well planned out in advance and adds something worthwhile without taking away it's core.
-At it's core, emphasis should always be on posting the best art possible, not on the fastest.
-Someone posting early should never beat, tie, or come close to someone who earned the most votes.
That would be a more succinct statement of my opinion.
Anyone else have an opinion one way or another?

Quote:You mean calf? See not taking you seriously.I am the Jophiel, I speak for the cows...
I enjoy that picture because it forces me not to take myself seriously. Also, it has a baby cow.
Same here but then what I don't know about comics lore could fill a museum.

Wow those are some gorgeous Cashoo colors Tabcef.
I have much to learn yet about coloring digitally. *sigh*
P.S. Something's not quite right about her (camera left) knee. I'll politely refrain from describing what it's shape suggests to me. -
Quote:Your welcome and thanks as well DJ.Well, thank you, sir!
Note, however, that you can super heat water until it turns into steam - which is what I was trying to achieve, but drew so poorly that you can't really tell!
And congratulations on the win, mister orange!
True but that's not so much causing water to be burnt as it is causing a state change, but then again... "By the process of evaporation I order you to
transform your upper body from a solid to a gas by way of liquid, Snowman!" didn't have quite the same ring to it.
How about "Die Snowman Die" or "Eat Firesword Frozen Fiend!"
Quote:Congratulations CR and everyone who competed. There were a lot of pieces I considered worthy of votes this month and you all did great!
-
Quote:**Yellow is the cliff notes version againThanks for the input CR, I made a couple less drastic changes to the rules which I hope will take into account the points you were trying to make.
The Early Bird points are reduced to 3 points, and the winner of each month gains an additional 2 points.................**
Your welcome. Well it's better than having the winner of the most votes lose to the person who posts first but honestly I still think you are giving too much weight to a "hey I posted early" vs. a "hey I took my time and did my best so I could WIN... err I mean so I could tie with the guy who posted earlier than me"
If you can still earn more bonus points by posting early in the month than you can by actually winning the month that brings us back again to who will bother striving to win? Much easier to post fast and try for 2nd place... which would actually tie you for first. You are still encouraging "Post something FAST!" over "Post your BEST artz."
Here's what I see that leading too...
-A whole lot of 'tied for first" months.
-Some people complaining that they "just missed" out on the EB points by 5 minutes (or an hour, a day, whatever).
-Those taking their time and not posting EarlyBird fall behind. i.e. if half the artists were to post quick and half take their time and try their best the quick posters would all be guaranteed 3 points but only one of the "tried my best" gets any (and he gets fewer points than a quick poster to boot) and the rest would get zero.
-Since only one can "win" each month but all contestants can post early... everyone will start post early.
-You will never see peoples best work, rather you will end up seeing only whatever they think they can post quick enough to make the Early deadline.
-The actual deadline will become the 10th of every month instead of the 20th.
-Between the 10th and the 30th the thread will drop off the front page for lack of interest since everything will be up early and there's nothing to look forward to until the vote thread is posted. etc etc etc
If you are set on 3 and 2 for bonus points then at least swap them around (+3 for first place +2 for early post) since the thing that is rare should always have more value than the thing that is common. Only one can win the most votes for the month but everyone (8 now but many more potentially) and their kid sister can throw up something quick for EB points... the two should never "tie" in my opinion.
I suggest +3 for the win and +2 for the early bird bonus but I shouldn't be the only one posting on this what do others think would work best?
Has anyone else run some numbers or have an opinion one way or the other?
Speak now or forever hold your FArt!

Ok I normally just PM someone an answer like this but I've been asked about shadows a couple times and I got
a request to make a separate tip thread for it so here we go, I'll share my tip for making shadows
and if you have a cool tip or trick to share now there is a place to do it.
Have at it.
Note: While I've been using photoshop for many years it was just to edit photo's and make web content never to create art/digitally
color so bear in mind I'm no PS guru and there are probably different/better ways to do this but I'll give all ya peeps a
quick outline of one decent way I've found to make quick easy shadows. I call this the "knock over" method.
1st separate the object (in this case a drawing I did of Kai's WyldeFyre) onto it's own layer with no background then duplicate it.
**Bonus Tip** with a high contrast background you can use the magic wand tool to quickly select the white space and
then up in the menu choose "Select --> Invert" to select just the object then Ctrl+J to do this quickly.
2nd can name that layer (I left it layer1 nyah nyah) and color it black/darken it completely to get a shadow copy of your image like this.
**Bonus Tip** you can quickly blacken it by hitting Ctrl+U and moving the "Lightness" slider all the way to the left.
3rd use Free Transform (Ctrl+T) or the warping tool of your preference to "knock over" the shadow layer onto the ground/wall.
**Bonus Tip** if using FT to knock over it helps to hold down your control key (ctrl) when
doing so as this lets you manipulate the points individually.
4th set it's Opacity to about 88% so it's not too dark and then go to Filter --> Blur --> Gaussian Blur and set to about 6% to soften it.
**Bonus Tip** If you want to get all rich and fancible (yay Firefly!) you can use a gradient to make it darker near her feet and
lighter as it gets further away as I did here. To do that I clicked the Gradient tool and then left-clicked between her
feet to plot the first point, then I dragged the line up by the head of her shadow released it. If it doesn't
look quite right hit Ctrl+Z (undo) and repeat until you get a result you are satisfied with.
That's it, enjoy!

Indeed.
Photobucket (and others like it) are free and easy to setup. That is what everyone here is doing and if you hit the little quote button in the lower right
corner of a post where someone has an image posted you can read the syntax they are using and where the pic is hosted.
Like this one...
