Great find Caemgen... that is crazy cheap for that kind of linework.

It's partly how you define lag as well.
If you mean it as in "frames per second drops to the point of slow or stuttering images" then my high end gaming rig doesn't ever lag in ITFs or during MSRs.
If you consider "powers in my tray look as if they are charged when they are not" as lag then yeah I've gotten that on occasion and it's annoying.
Personally I go by the first definition (since there is nothing I can do about the 2nd) and would say I don't ever lag when playing CoH.
I think it's what most people refer to when they say they are lagging but that's just my opinion.
P.S. Yes I have a high end system (I build custom computers for a living) and fast internet.

I have mentioned it before but your image does a much better job of conveying it than my text explanation.
Hey Psi-bug would you mind adding a copy of your post to the tips and tricks thread too?

The happy/sad theatre mask pommels were an interesting touch.

Or use a light cage.

FYI the above is intentionally a non-working link because the computer generated image is female and unclothed from the waist up.
You will need to copy this address and paste it into your address bar and remove the space after the W's (because the
forums automatically linkifies it if I don't put the space in) but be forewarned this is "technically" nudity.

Lol guilty...
Now get to it! I wantz mah birfday artz nao!
-
I should be more clear, as I don't want to give the wrong idea... it's fine to be able to see skin (or the sky in the
background for that matter) in between the individual strands but it shouldn't be for the whole length of the strand.
Even hair with a ton of flyaways can work (especially if it's windy) but where the hair comes from the head should
still have clumps and look like a solid mass and as it gets out towards the tips it can be more scattered and windblown.
Think more like this...

Welcome back Gale, looking forward to seeing your art progress as you get back into it.

I donated a little to the Red Cross but similarly I don't see how it can make a difference given how bad the disaster is.
Just have to trust that every bit helps in some way I guess.

Speaking from long experience in doing gift art I think you meant to say....
Quote:Also welcome aboard Junior.........I wanted him to understand that drawing things for yourself because they are cool is much easier than drawing something for someone else. Most people have definite ideas and wants for their character and it's very important to keep those things in mind........
Good to see you have your own forum account now and I'm looking forward to seeing your new artz.

Ok I stand corrected then. I thought it was a brush just for the sheer volume of individual hairs going in separate directions if you are drawing all of those by hand I'm even more impressed that these are your early attempts.
One thing I might suggest is there are too many fly away hairs. You can see skin between too many of the hairs that go across his face and all along the outline of his head there need to be clumps rather than so many individual hairs.
Also there is something about his face, hmmmm, the eyeballs are shiny and done in a realistic fashion but the other features look a little flat... it kinda reminds me a bit of a ventriloquist's puppet.

I agree with the others TBA. As someone who has had more than one instance of not having
anything ready until the 11th hour but still managing to get something in on time I
can honestly say it's waaaay too early in the month to throw in the towel.
Give it time.

Animation is up.
I had to quit staring at it long enough to post it lol. Even though I know
exactly what is going to happen I still watched the loop like a dozen times.
P.S. You are off to a great start with the hair brushes DD.

Quote:Went ahead and added more contrast as I said I would. The one thing I would hope this shows you is just how close you are getting in your colors.lol, somehow I knéw you were going to say that.
As long I can learn from it, sure! You have my blessing. It's a collab afterall. Would you like the PSP9 file (not sure if that goes well with PhotoShop though)?

You did like 90% of the work here on the coloring but often times it's that last 10% that can really make a piece of art pop.
I will put an animated gif later if you like so you can see some of what I did and maybe pick up a few things.
P.S. I am very proud of how this collaboration came out. Thanks DD for working with me on this.

Quote:WOW!
I am so so so immensely happy I checked here tonight before going to bed. We just got in a couple hours ago after driving home from Boston (yay PAX). Unfortunately not long after getting home we had some terrible drama involving a towing company and one of our cars and this just totally made me feel so much better. I couldn't even hope to put it into words.
Goat, Soobooku, CR, I <3 you guys, you've just totally made my night.
You're so very welcome Ransim and my thanks to Soobooku and Lord Goat, it's a fine collab and I'm very happy to have contributed.
Quote:I'm going to look over everything you guys have done, I'm making some attempts to learn coloring/shading and I'm picking up a Wacom tablet probably this weekend. So hopefully with some practice I can get better.
Okay i'm going to bed before I get to excited and can't sleep. >_<
I'm hoping these collabs will encourage more people to participate and actually learn by doing (and maybe volunteer their linework pieces they drew or got as gifts for coloring) you really don't lose anything and stand to gain a lot.
Plus as more people get proficient at coloring it would be great to be able to drop some pencils in here and see it colored up a variety of different cool ways.

That is awesome that you raised so much for a great cause. Congratulations!
I'm happy to have helped (even in such a small way). Thanks for the opportunity.

Quote:Lol.It's the lack of controversy. I have defeated all my foes so peace, harmony and boredom has come to this realm?
@Bubba: yeah I have been away off and on last week or so (no new art to post) and keep expecting to see a ton of new posts and stuff to read when I get in but it has been slow. Personal RL things that are taking up my time aside the weather finally is warm enough that I don't need a coat to go outside. It's good to see sunshine again.

Cheers Ben hope it was a great day and that your job hunt is going well.
P.S. Not sure if his account is active to respond to this or not but I noted him on DA so I'm sure he will at least see this.

Quote:As one of the ones who advised I am very happy to hear this news.An unexpected update regarding an awesome drawing tablet!
I will own one starting tomorrow!!! (so far that is)
Today I happened to stuble upon a Wacom Intuos 3 A5 wide.
Having read many reviews and gaining advise from several friends, that tablet should do well beyond my expectations.I was aiming for an older version tbh. As it would be more in my budget.
Now, I have been saving up for quite some time now and been on the look out for a reasonable priced drawing tablet (2nd hand would do aswell) with pressure indication (obviously).
I do posess a tablet, but it has no pressure indication and it's working very poorly (which is why I stopped using it). Luckily for me it didn't cost me much.
This one is over 50% off (not new though) BUT... it's been used only once for demonstration ánd it comes in the orignal box! *cheers*
I can't wait to start working with it (yes, I know I will need much more practice, but I'm up for it!).
(I just had to share my joy)

I use the Wacom Intuous3 as well, it will take some getting used to at first but in the long run you're going to love it.

@ Bubba: That's another alternative... of course one would have to know that the kneeling hooded figure was a Burnt Matchstick to begin with.
She is almost completely covered hiding any distinguishing features and not on fire (although looking at it now the yellow
and black do hint at a color scheme that gets used on a number of matchstick designs).
I suppose if I had given it a moments thought I might've concluded that you nearly always draw your own heroes but thinking
from my perspective, where the reverse is true (something on the order of 85% of what I draw is gift art of
other peoples characters and like 5% is art of my own heroes), I didn't make that assumption.
@DD: It's the name Bubba gives his own line of characters. He primarily creates fire based characters for his project and they all have
a similar look of a burned out matchstick (mostly a black costume). See the "burnt matchstick project" link in his signature for more info.

Checking for a font!
Oh my Zod I totally should have tried that first!
Turns out you were more brilliant than I was DD.
