Precisely. I'm old school; my understanding of a competition is that you try to win based solely on your own merits. That involves doing everything yourself including considering which likeness to use,
Umm I am of course going to consider which likeness (if any) to use for my piece. Who else could?

Gross exaggeration. This is not a formal art contest. They are not professional judges or art critics judging me based on uniform criteria.
They are people voting for what they like. The only real judge/host/overseer hasn't objected and has in fact participated in these threads in the past.

Even if it were true (it isn't) that all the people posting here vote in the FArt (several haven't/don't) do you honestly think that if I went with say PeeWee Herman for Lord Recluse as a comedy movie poster that it would somehow force Caemgen to vote for me? What about all the others who's ideas I didn't use? Would they all be forced to vote against me? Is the absurdity apparent?

Clearly I made the mistake of doing this in public (ohnoz!) where anyone else can steal an idea from the "judges" and all the guaranteed votes that will surely follow thereby defeating my ebil plan.

Lol yes indeed I forgot that you have already done it in this competition. But i don't remember people submitting celebrity likeness with the specific characters. I believe that's a significant difference in terms of rendering a character.
That's not all you're forgetting but I haven't the time for/see no reason to go digging for the rest.




You are asking people for input on what likenesses to use in your piece. Deciding who to use is part of doing the entry.
More of the same. Of course I am going to decide who to use.
Asking for input and making my own decision are not mutually exclusive things.

You should really try that yourself. So far the things you are claiming for the most part either have happened many times prior without your objection or never really happen at all.
Perhaps you have some concept of how an art contest should work and this is not living up to your expectation (Zod knows it's not following my idea of how a contest should work either) if so I really wish you had spoken up sooner... and over something more substantial.

P.S. If you see something in this thread that gives you an idea feel free to use it (ask first if it's Shieldara please) I don't think anyone will object.

Yeah it's allowed (some artists vote for themselves all the time) but I usually never do it myself.

There are no more points or standings to be earned so the only thing that really matters is not being
in last place from here on out. I wasn't before I voted and I'm still not so no worries there.
I was just really happy with what I accomplished especially with her face and hair.

I felt DD and DefianceJones and Tatyrsause all really showed the theme of Tarot well but
Tatyrsause's was unfinished and between DD and DJ I liked the lion coming out of the card plus
that sleeve reminded me of a Circle of Thorns mage which made DD's expression even more amusing to me.

BattleWraith got my third because even though I don't really get all the elements in it... well it's amazing quite frankly.
It could've easily gone to Liz as well as she had a really strong multi-panel piece but BW edged her out.
Airhead's made me laugh when I first saw it, his entries are always a fun surprise.


P.S. Though BubbaWheat isn't around to make it official, Congratulations Liz on another grand victory.

So I have a basic idea for July but not sure really who I will include on the poster. On the one hand I would like to have
known characters people can recognize/relate to like the Freedom Phalanx but on the other I wouldn't
mind something more creative/interesting than the default cast everyone expects.

So that's where you guys come in, help me come up with a great cast list and who they
might be acted by and maybe score a cameo for one of your characters.

So post a decent photo of of an actor/actress and say what NPC character they would be great for in a City of Heroes movie
and then post up a ref one of your heroes (mainly looking for heroes but a great villain/praetorian
idea might work too) and a pic of what actor/actress might play them.

Random example:
Michael Clark Duncan

would make a good Back Alley Brawler

and I think my character Shieldara


could be played by Meagan Good

I know next to nothing about children's books but sounds like an nice story to me.

I also wanted to participate every month but didn't want to be greedy.
I was waiting for an obvious zone tie in to one of my characters (like Croatoa for Chloe) to pounce on.

Might help to have a separate thread for each months contest. It's just a perceptual thing but it makes each month seem "new".
Or how about give the winners a choice of a known artist (Jazzcarmona in this case) or a MysteryArtist
(someone else who you choose but don't tell until the art is revealed)?
Things to create suspense n stuffz.
