Quote:Hey there and welcome to the best part of the forums (the Artz section naturally).I was supposed to be working on comic pages for a contest. I really didn't want to do them at the time. I had looked at this thread I think and came across your character design. And so...fanart!
By the way is your name from the Latin for Reckless Night?
(Temere=brash or reckless Nox=night)?

Thanks everyone.
DD, sorry to see you eliminated from the contest but that was a very eloquent way
to exit it and I'm proud of how far you've come, even just since the start of this event.
Liz, congratz and best of luck upcoming.

Hmmm doesn't work for me. I have exceptional eyesight and I can usually spot those hidden image illusions pretty quick but I just see two cups here.
-
No costume making experience here but just wanted to say gratz on getting the gf to dress up.
Oh and there are a bunch of cosplay aficionados over on DA that make their own
outfits from scratch, if you cannot find what you need here I'd ask around over there.
Cheers!

It pays to have well taken refs of your character ready in advance (or your own thread) I guess.

This is the 4th annual FArt battle so far. There will probably be another starting in January next year.
There was a monthly Art Jam that was going on for a while where each month "the torch" was passed to a new person
and they chose a theme and all artists interested put up a piece for that theme. It was open to all and no
eliminations like this contest has. Someone might look to starting that up again from Oct to Jan.

Lol running won't get you far in the shard... FLY FOR IT!

A shot of Pocket D perhaps? The underground lounge? Or there's that new nightclub in Praetoria too.

Okay so I used some of my built up points to do some tweaking (can't use them on much else at this stage
) to my image after the fact.
Fixed up the tones and added a hint in the background (for those who have read the official comics) as to who is responsible for her demise.
Also redid Psyche's hair to better suggest that she really is dead. Not sure if that was coming across so much before.
I don't know if Bubba will put some kind of note indicating that or if people will just read this and go
look at it again. I'll probably put a side by side up in my artz thread.
Larger version with better detail can be seen here (just click the download button over on the right).
Cheers!

No worries Caemgen. That's why I PM'd everyone involved first before posting my version.
I have a certain image in my mind of how Amerikatt looks (less like Garfield more like Supakitty) and
so made the correction for my own whimsy but I realize that some artists are open to alterations and others are not, so I asked.
His edit is a few steps in the right direction and since he made his own correction I'll forgo posting mine anywhere.
Cheers!

So then would catbot be "Ridin' Furry"
Also I can't even think of the Chamillionaire song without hearing Weird Al's version in my head now.

Quote:Oh I recognize that!Been colouring a bit today...
Another CoH drawing I had lying around for quite some time actually...
Gosh the woman is pale!
Basic colouring sofar...still loads to do...
On the Black/White thing... perhaps the difference has to do with the artists background.
Coming from pencils I thought black a challenge and white fairly easy (a little finger smudge gets a nice light
shade) in pens/ink black was easy and white (especially white hair) was tough but now working with digital neither is that bad.
P.S. @Henri: Half right buddy it's true White and Black are not colors but they are not really shades either. Technically it depends on if you are dealing with B/W as pigments or as light but generally speaking White is all the colors of the visible spectrum mixed and Black is the absence of all color (i.e. the absence of all light) that's why when you are in a room and turn the lights off everything turns black even though the objects in the room still "have" colors.

I would agree with Photobucket, I have literally hundreds of images hosted there all sorted into folders and in chronological order. All free.
The only drawback is they are capped in size to 1024x768 but for displaying on the web this is fine. Any larger and those with small monitors will have to "scroll to see."
There is Image Shack as well that lets files get a little larger but the links always seem slower to come up (even with a fast pc and internet connection).
Other people I've seen have Flikr accounts but I've not tried them yet.

Quote:Hey it's not her fault, she heard of a possible attack by the Skulls on the factory that makes herAmerikatt looks a bit... tubby there
Been lounging in laps too much and not enough crimefighting i take it!
..................
chocolate covered fish sticks and so she had to keep a close eye on the assembly line.
See all in the line of duty.
Quote:Amerikatt is NOT a tubby tabby!!! It is just a trick of the light, I assure you! As you can plainly see below, before this photograph was manipulated, Amerikatt was showing off her very lady like physique!

Also glad to hear Liz is ok (I have family living on the coast that are/were in the path too, thankfully they are all ok for now).

Quote:Using the almighty "Undo" button to go like 50 steps back and have it appearHaahah.. thanks CR. Digital work is very different from any other medium I've worked in and there's a lot of things that you can get away with that almost feel like cheating when you think of more traditional methods.....................
exactly as it was with no erasing lines or smudges always feels like cheating to me.

No worries Twiz all pencil artists crossing over to digital are n00bs at first (I certainly was no exception
).
It's a completely new medium that can be very counter-intuitive until you learn to wrap your head the
concepts involved but stick with it (and resist the urge to smash your tablet/mouse) and the improvement will come.
You're off to a great start.

Quote:Fixed that for ya............ butt that Atlas shot is at a very unfortunate angle. Heh.
Very cool staging for a vampiric character.
Love the look of those wings on that character.
Alternate caption.
Person one: Oh hey look it's a Zeus Titan...
Person two: On a steeeeck.
