Yeah, I noticed this too. And it never crossed my mind that it might possibly be an exploit, oops. X_x

My first experience with it was doing a little street sweeping in Sharkhead. You know those looong lines of arachnos troops trotting around the place? Well, I hit my "target nearest" a liiiittle bit early, while I was still Combat Hurdling past the group, activated Jacob's Ladder and went "wooooah. I LIKE hitting all of them in a single tiny cone."

It's gotten SO MUCH EASIER since melee was extended to 7 feet from 5. And Combat Jumping + Hurdle, well, I thought I swore by it BEFORE- now it's even MORE betterer for tactical melee positioning.
  2. The matchup of the century that I'd love to watch: Rularuu Vs Vanguard.
IMO, the two most powerful groups in the game. (Malta are obnoxious, but those two take the cake)

    My money would be on...
[censored], I don't even know. I guess I'd vote for Rularuu.
  3. I only click powers that have no chance of ever being vitally important for me to hit RIGHT NOW!
This includes things like nifty props and temp powers, catchphrase macros, and the macro I keep around that informs people that no, I am not going to SK you up, it gives me epileptic seizures.

I use the numpad for the bottom tray, Shift+Numpad for the second row, and Ctrl+Numpad for third tray. Fourth is non-vital stuff. Numpad+ is autorun and Numpad- is autofollow. WASD, like everyone else, is my movement stuff, however I actually use the strafe buttons. Most people seem to bind over those, and it drives me nuts. How can you live without strafing?!

I familiarized myself with the targeting system (Tied for the award of "best one in any MMO I've played". About equal to the targeting in Guild Wars, also excellent), and have Tab for cycle to next-furthest target, and C for target nearest on-screen foe. For spot-targeting, I hit C and then tabtabtabtabtab, or in some cases, mouse-target. (but not usually)

I've trained myself to be able to jump my right hand from mouse to numpad and numpad to mouse in a fraction of a second, with literally unerring accuracy. It is REALLY nice to be able to do that. I can activate a power, queue another, and adjust the camera to juuust the right position before they finish activating. And of course, check behind me for the things beating up the squishies (REAL squishies fight up close!)

Here's a screenshot that gives a good idea of how my trays look:

So yeah. I'm not a power button clicker. But I DO use a hybrid of keyboard and mouse play, so I feel ya.

Then, a brief period of experimentation with Mercantilism - in order for you to earn XP, someone else to lose it! Nothing could go wrong with that!

    [/ QUOTE ]
We've already had that. Remember when Peacebringers' Cosmic Balance gave them XP whenever someone else mysteriously lost XP?
So, we did Mercantilism for a very short time already. Check that one off the list.
  5. Welll... I'd offer to pact with ya, but I am completely and totally unreliable. Like, seriously.

Otherwise, I'd whip up a Dual Blades/Something brute to try out and pact it up.
  6. I remember hearing a bird perfectly imitate the crosswalk-beeping noise. You know, the one they have in place so that blind people know that the crosswalk is open for going across?

    Those poor blind people.

The funniest /afk I've personally seen was when someone on a Hess TF said, "I've got to get to the Safeway before they stop selling soup."

I guess they just really needed some soup...

    [/ QUOTE ]
Haaa! I remember hearing about that one! XD

My best has been "AFK, people want to dress me up"

Considering how often this happens, I'm surprised I've only used it once.
  8. Lately I've played a Mind/Fire Dominator a bit, and that is.. very relaxing, really. Just for the heck of it, I'll go out to the middle of nowhere and street sweep.
Mass Hypnosis'd. Okay, ready to start the fight at my leisure.
Mesmerize- some nice damage, and that guy is out of the fight for the next sixty seconds if I don't mess with him.
Okay, now Hold the toughest guy in the spawn. If it's a boss, follow up the hold with Mesmerize. And then hold again when it's back up.
Okay, now he's really really held. Set him on fire.
Oh, the Mass Hypnosised guys are about to wake up. I'll confuse a couple, for good measure.

It's just such a relaxed, free-form experience. I really love it.

    Magic Origin

Hm. I like to pretend I have a pretty good variety of characters. But frankly, so long as it's done well, a character of ANY origin makes me happy. So what if magic is the most common?

Here are some of my characters- the ones I can remember at the moment-
    Magic
Scantily Clad - Demon that hardly existed before being summoned by a demonologist. Okay.
Destined to Die - Extremely cursed. Cursed to die over and over and over (aka fearless scrapper).
Desmira - Zaps things with magic, just like everyone else. Wishes she was awesome and unique.

    Mutant
Allergic - Born with the strongest allergies known to man, she fights evil with righteous sneezes!
Sunsoldier - Sunbathed a lot, got mutant powers instead of cancer.

    SCIENCE!
Arblis - Created by SCIENTISTS! for great SCIENCE! >_>

    Techie
Okay yeah, I have no tech characters I can remember right now.

And Natural kind of bores me.

So maybe I don't spread the love evenly. But I still think everything ever is awesome. But Natural and Tech are just lacking good ideas in my head.
  10. I find it rather fun to imagine things that *aren't* going to be proliferated.

-- Icy Melee for Brutes. Yes, make the enemies stop attacking you.
-- Fire Blast for Defenders. I think there is some dev-chosen flavor beind this, actually. Defenders are not considered offense hogs. Fire Blast is an offense hog.
-- Dark Miasma (support) for Controllers. Why? Tier 9 Pet- I don't think they want controllers to have two permapets at once.
-- Illusion Control for Dominators. Sorry. It just doesn't mesh well with their inherent. And it's just not personal enough for a Dom. :3
-- Super Reflexes for Tankers. You do realize how big Tanker defense values are, right? We're talking "beyond soft-capped while solo with no pools or IOs or T9" here. Also, a defense set with NO other survival tools seems very un-tanker.
-- Broadsword/Katana for Tankers. They wouldn't dare remove Parry/DA. And they wouldn't dare keep it in.

I know there are more, but I'm done for the moment. Isn't it fun?!

    - wonder what makes an 'open letter' thread different to any other thread posted on these forums outside of polls.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Oh good, I'm not the only one.
Hell, I was just thinking of making an Open Letter to Open Letter Makers to ask them whether even THEY know what they're talking about. I sure don't.
  12. I would join in the shouting to take Arcanaville out to coffee, but it just wouldn't work out. She's too popular for me.
  13. (QR)

If you, personally don't want to get hit on a squishy, choose to-hit debuffs. If you have, for example, Cold Domination- your buffs aren't reduced by the enemies' debuff resists.. but the shields don't target yourself at all. With -tohit, YOU are protected as well as your allies.
  14. (QR)

I have a hard time being outraged about this. Mostly because I feel like ~30% of what I'm reading is just [broadsword].

I could blather on and on and on about why I think that, but really, what's the point. Woo hoo another furious forum post. Can I get my Jaded badge now?

Something about this style of indignant outrage really gums my goat.
    [ QUOTE ]
Proly just be an excuse to ban both of us and dlete this post however

[/ QUOTE ] -- And that makes it sound like you WANT to be deleted and banned and suchlike. More ammo for the hate cannons!

    Chill out. Everyone else, too.
  15. Heeee, this is awesome!

It also explains why I get so many Psionic Manifestations and Spiritual Essences.

Next comes the hard part. While these are the birthsigns, a full horoscope needs a guide to what to expect each day.

For example, if you are a Spiritual Essence, and your first three salvages of the day are Brass, Heavy Water, and Symbiotic Armor.. You should just log off. You will do your best to help each and every person you come across, but will be met with boisterous disapproval for your methods. It'll all end in tears today.

    Also, you missed one:
    Merit Reward.
I'm not attuned to the natural forces of fate myself, but I'd say this is the mark of a driven person who will go nuts trying to get something done. You DO it, no matter what!
  16. Pet Peeve attacks!
    MooCow takes 18 damage!
    MooCow is Enraged!

    Why do people continually...

    ... use uninformative thread titles?

Wouldn't "Why the Server Shard system?" have been FAR more informative?

    Aaaaaaaargh! *hissss* *fume* *self-destruction*

For those who don't know what we're discussing, MUDs, MUSHs and MOOs are the roots of today's MMORPGs.

Damn straight! I was makin' top-notch roleplaying games back when I was a little baby, you better believe it!

Now you know how I felt about the Mission Architect. Only I was alone (Angry Citizen doesn't count). And you apparently aren't.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
If your character is not eligible for any xp/influence/debt reduction rewards in a Mission Architect mission, you will no longer be awarded any tickets for that mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I didn't quite understand this one. I mean, maybe my brain hasn't started running for the day, but it seems kind of.. wha?
  20. Another bugfix not mentioned: Chat Binds no longer add in the key you bound it to at the end of their beginchat text. However, standard "Press enter or / to open chat box" functionality still has a tendency to give you "wwwwwwwss dddeee/b www w ww qqqqqq" syndrome.

    (( Clarifying-
    /bind shift+L beginchat /send "Virtue LFG" <$name, $level $archetype>
No longer adds an extra L after the name/level/AT section. Rejoice! ))
  21. This just in: I was right. Stop doomsaying. Only Mission Architect Comm Officers had their rewards reduced.

    You have defeated Communications Officer
    You gain 9,029 influence.
    You have defeated Infantry
    You gain 3,160 influence.
    You have defeated Advanced Drone
    You gain 2,633 influence.

Now get back out there and fight REAL pretend bad guys!

    [ QUOTE ]
Was exp and inf given back to the rikti summoned by the comm officer, or are they now minions who summon a bunch of friends you have no reason to fight? After all, risk vs reward, right? Where's the reward for fighting something that has no reward?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I bet ya the summoned minions won't give squat. So nobody will want to fight the comm officers, just like nobody wants to fight the family since the xp nerf.

    [/ QUOTE ]
As far as I know, the XP change was to architect critters only. Rikti Comm Officers in groups of actual real non-virtual Rikti probably still give normal EXP.
    Checking that right now.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
    I want an Umbrella/Parasol scrapper.

    No, really. I do.

    [/ QUOTE ] YES.

    Oh my god yes.

    1) Bop: Standard 3sec Recharge Melee thwap.
    2) Belt Upside The Head: Standard 6sec Recharge Melee smack.
    3) Twirling Swing: Swing the parasol around and smack any targets in front of you- Good Old Melee Cone.
    4) Pose: Build-Up clone, except you pose fancily as you glow with power.
    5) Prancing Spin: You open your umbrella, leap in the air, and spin gracefully around, dealing damage in a PBAoE.
    6) Neener Neener: Scrappertaunt Clone.
    7) Demure Technique: You lightly bat the enemy, and then hide behind your umbrella, giggling. Even if you are a big muscley manly man. Like Parry/Divine Avalanche, but somewhat less powerful.
    8) Mesmerizing Patterns: A cone attack where your umbrella's deft movements hypnotize your foes even as they're rapidly beaten by umbrella. Confuse, melee cone that damages over like four ticks.
    9) Parasol of Trickery: You crouch down and reflect light into your enemy's eyes off the few metal parts of your umbrella, then spring up, slamming them into the sky. Excellent damage, knockup, and a bit of a tohit+perception debuff.
  24. I know I have the full stats for these two written up somewhere.. But I am having a hard time finding them at the moment.
Anyway, these are my dream sets:

O-fuda or Runic Support or Whatever You Wanna Call It.
A fast-paced close-range support set that throws out ribbons and runes to shield allies and debuff specific enemies. Very Magic themed, but also works with Tech (enhancing nanofilaments!), Mutant (I'm throwing spores I grew myself!), Science! (Those runes are coated with something..), and even Natural Chi stuff.

Arm Cannon, because Blasters and Corrs and Dominators need more weapon customization. A LEFT handed costume option like Shields.. possibly one that is always visible. Because you don't draw a cannon that stays on your arm all the time. (And cause there are only two states for a custom weapon, right? More on the second state later.)
The blasting cannon on your arm could be from your awesome techie suit, or it could be a mutant biological weapon you turned your arm into, or it could be a symbiotic plant that lives on your arm! So many costume options!
Mostly Energy attacks, with maybe a little Fire, Smashing, or even Cold mixed in. The nifty unique perk of this set would be its "Overdrive" form, which increased ToHit, beefed up the damage of some attacks and added debuffs and mezzes to others (using code like DB's combo system- "If state is Overdrive, this effect goes off too").
Overdrive would ideally make your Arm Cannon change appearance to an awesome form- Panels on your tech cannon move outward and a powerful glow seeps from the cracks.. the plant on your arm opens its petals/leaves into a very threatening open flower cannon.. that sorta thing.
  25. ... I really, really want this. This would be a million fillion times awesome. It would make me happy.
