Just got out of a meeting with Geko...
I completely concur that the Wet Ice Def buff is so slender that it's pointless to slot Def Enhancements...but people already have done so.
Here's what we'll do: Wet Ice will no longer accept Def Enhancements. We'll increase the base def somewhat. Def Enhancements that are currently slotted will continue to have an effect, but players won't be able to slot new Def Enhancements into it.
We're also adding resistance to Toxic in Permafrost to bring it into line with Invulnerability's Resist Elements.

So I assume you'll be reducing the endurance cost by 75%? -

Here's the real numbers (that's what I get for doing stuff from memory).
Wet Ice
0.5% base
1.265% Defence from Wet Ice with ++ SO's.
17.71% Max Defence from Energy Absorbtion (not what I had earlier).

This is just silly (both, but mainly Wet Ice). This CANNOT be the result of deliberate game design. The idea of offering a "power" that offers an imperceptible and statistically insignificant benefit is cruel and unusual game design.
I'd LOVE to hear the justification for a sub 1% base defense (realistically a sub 3%) power that accepts defense enhancements. Seriously.

Well, in any case it would probably be good to give at least some lip service to thier concerns. How much do you play a week? More than 20 hours? That MAY be excessive. Is it keeping you from going to work, or school? Addiction is real. Online gaming addiction is real, but it can also be a very valid social environment. Do you have friends in game that you enjoy chatting with? Are you active in your SuperGroups? One thing they may not understand is that virtual communities are not that unusual a thing and that it is not an inherently anti-social activity (though it can be.) If you can get them to understand what you find gratifying about playing then maybe they won't be so distressed.
If you defy them and are hostile, it will just reinforce their concerns. -
Here's one that I just discovered (I may be slow). By clicking on the "I" in the yellow star in the mission window, you get an expanded text description of the mission status (might just be a rehash of what the contact told you when getting the mission initially). I was wondering what the big deal with Task Forces was, because as the non-party leader, I couldn't SEE any of the story arcs occuring. I finally got clued in to clicking on the Yellow "I" while doing the Synapse TF at lvl 20. It adds a fair amount of story "texture" to the game, if you care about that.
Oh yeah, another voice for not taking leadership pool unless defender or controller.
I'd like to dissent on Air Superiority's "uselessness". I think AS is a great melee attack for controllers (esp) not to mention having a huge knockdown chance (which is good damage mitigation). -
Outstanding work there Zealot!
I play a Storm secondary Illusion controller (currently only 11) and find that it is fundamentally different to the other defender secondaries in how it influences the basic Controlling strategy. Snow Storm alone allows for a more patient and strategict battle. I think slow is a very under-rated form of CC. The scrappers I team with love the street sweeping, knowing that I will always put the storm on the buckshot (the least threatening mob to leave unattended for a fight) and to defeat him last. They take down lts and bosses like pit-bulls. The SR scrapper loves the O2s buff against Bruisers and Shockers/Bricks in Steel Canyon. I just got Steamy Mists and am just figuring out how nifty it is. As you mentioned Gale is situational. I don't use it much (and won't slot it.)
Again, nice work with the guide. -
Greetings Liberty!
Attention Liberty Scrappers!
- Tired of living the solo lifestyle? Roaming the streets of Paragon, dispensing justice in bite-sized nuggets?
- Tired of looking at that crowd of eight Outcasts taunting you with their superior numbers, but vastly inferior warrior spirit?
- Tired of scrambling for the leftovers in groups dominated by blaster AE damage, hoping that the LT or Boss might have some fight left in him, by the time you get there?
- Tired of chasing down runners who you have taken to 1/4 health?
--------------------------------------------------
Attention Controllers!
- Tired of "cultivating patience" via the chip, chip, chip process of the solo controller lifestyle?
- Tired of being told to not use sleep/mez CC because it gets whacked by hamfisted blaster AEs?
- Tired of using your healer functionality more than crowd control in groups?
We've got a group for you!
Supergroup Name: Scrap Control
Website (if any): None yet. Will probably build a yahoo group if we can get a decent sized crew.
Leader or Recruiting Officers: Toasty Tony lvl 11 Fire/Kin
Priss Teen lvl 16 DM/Inv
Preferred Method of contact: Regular email. There_is_no_spoon@msn.com
Colors: Charcoal/Purple
Guild Description: Mainly a grouping network with some coordinating for Task Forces, etc. encouraging the excellent compatibility between these two occasionally frustrating ATs. Controllers and Scrappers ONLY. Promoting and developing strategies for maximum effectiveness. Non-hierarchical. No egos, please. Role-play or not, individual preference. Colorful character bios appreciated but definitely not required. Looking to build a decent sized network, but if we hit the size max, will boot anyone who doesn't log in at least once every couple weeks (allowances made for special circumstances, of course.) Maturity appreciated.
Weird builds encouraged.
Also, as a general rule, we will NOT interfere with other players (i.e. Kill-steal, griefing, etc.)
