  1. This a finished commission of my Archery/Ice blaster Pocahostess.

After seeing some of his efforts in the Silver Spectre Art Thread, I realized this guy really should be put to work, and arranged a commission of Pocahostess, my current favorite character (except for maybe Too Sweet, my MA/SR scrapper, who is soon going to get the Juggertha treatment. ).
    Here was the First WIP

After seeing the WIP, I realized that I wanted MORE than I had originally conceived, and requested a couple additional "characters". SS captured what I was looking for exactly, bringing a bit of 'action' to what would have otherwise been a 'merely' gorgeous portrait piece.

I present Pocahostess and friends (2nd near-finish WIP).

And here is the finished version. Pocahostess and Friends
I have been cleared by SS to throw this out to any takers who might want to try a color job on it. I would LOVE to see the image in color.

OK!! Almost done, I think. Here is the pic with the changes and all the inks nearly complete. Wanted to stop to eat, and see what you guys think thus far. Chazz, feel free to chime in!

That is SWEET! I appreciate the change to the face (the face in the first draft was gorgeous but this version is more Native American in character.) The critters look great and have great personality!

    Looks terrific!

Here is a commissioned Work In Progress for Chazzmatazz. I have just the pencil guidelines at the moment. If you cant see it, I apologize. It is a pic of Chazz's toon Pocahostess. She is leaning on a wooden rail fence, and holding a margarita. There is a large parasol leaned up behind her to provide shade, and her bow will be pinched by her thumb and index finger in her other hand. Tell me what you think, and Chazz, give me suggestions or comments please, they are important to me. After I hear from Chazz, I will refine the pencils and ink them, then post the finished product here. Pocahostess

Very nice! Better than what I was thinking. My mental image was more cinematic (i.e. wide-angle), but this image FILLS THE PAGE with the character. This is a true portrait. Much better. Sending a couple nit pics in a PM, but so far....

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is gonna take a little longer than planned. My 'nit-picks' developed into some additional background/detail elements and an expansion of the commission. I'm with you guys in wanting to see it, but I'm throwing him some curves. Can't make a debut commission too easy.

Going to let you pick between my scrapper Priss Teen (also done about 2 yrs ago by Gill Bates ) or my Scrapper, Too Sweet (actually a tribute character of a friend of mine who created the original). Screenies of each on my new Photobucket site. I'll get a few more up in the next few days. Obviously, I expect to be relatively low priority, given your project load.

Man, this is great! I'm very excited to see the result. Your dynamic style has always made you one of my Art board faves!

  6. That was it! (the no black ink) When the Cartoon Network show Samurai Jack first started I found myself wondering, "What is so odd about this animation?" It was that they used no black outlines in the characters. It allowed the color to have more of an impact. Of course your skills have been growing a lot in the last couple years, but I found the black ink-less method distinctive and it seems (coming from a non-artist) as though it perhaps accellerated your skills in using color.

I added Too Sweet's "Funk Samurai" costume to the gallery if you'd like to use it. I love that costume.

That's awesome! I love your work and have a great character for you to do. Just resizing the screenie it to imageshack compatible. Shouldn't be more than a couple min.

Imageshack not cutting it. Trying photobucket...

  10. Dang I was in a refresh click contest with you two and got the 10,000 exactly, (and have the window still open to it, but have no idea how to get the image of the screen saved.) Doh!

How will the people who don't have CoV be able to get into Grandville?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It'll be an instanced outdoor map I'm sure. You wont be going to the actual villain zone.

I sure hope my complete unplayability issue I have in GV doesn't make the STF an exercise in futility.

I can't believe they do not understand that a substantial portion of the player base simply can't run GV with an acceptable framerate?
  12. Welcome. Just another voice in the chorus of "Bravo!" Your stuff is clean and stylish. Methinks you could generate a nice little side (primary?) income from the community here. Look for a PM with a commission offer in the next couple days. Good stuff!
  13. /signed.

The "rants" are the most dynamic, entertaining parts of the boards. It is the clash between the rational and irrational. Are the boards not supposed to be entertaining?

One of the things I noticed while testing i8 is that Lusca was frequently appearing near the tailor and the tram. Since only one Lusca can appear at a time, and can appear in an area where there's a lot more hero-traffic, I'm hoping that it will mean more frequent Lusca-fighting groups.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Did they change this? I have FREQUENTLY seen multiple instances of Lusca in IP at once.

  16. Excellent guide! I have no disagreements regarding any of your power observations, though I have differred a little in power selection in my build to this point (currently lvl 36). I took Snowstorm and it is a bread and butter debuff for me (moreso in teams, vs bosses or for its excellent application in dropping flyers out of the sky) but it does slow things down as far as laying down the offense, and I can see your reasons for passing on it. I respecced out of Dark Blast at lvl 26 and have a Hasten/SS build.

I also love Life Drain, but have shifted two slots to damage (from heal) so that it works better in my attack chain and as a VERY satisfying "finisher".

Due to the lack of hard control I find that judicious insp use (esp. Lucks and Break Frees) to be the key to survival in big battles.

I have only PvP'd a little bit in Siren's and mostly served the role of buff-bot to very grateful stalkers/brutes. Tended to get whacked by scrappers who get the first shot and controllers of any sort. If I could get the drop on a blaster, I could perhaps get an opportunity kill, but I haven't really tried to play aggressively in PvP with this build.

Again, great guide for a currently somewhat obscure corruptor build.

  18. Excellent! I was unaware of the Mayhem mission travel power bonuses (playing mainly upper level content right now). That makes playing my Super Speeders much less challenging/frustrating in the Pit in Sharkhead and in Primeva. Having no vert' in those sections is a pain.
  19. This power is definitely in need of being re-conceptualized completley. Phase other is probably the least useful "control" power available. Look at the effects comparison.

Hold- enemy is offensively and mobility negated, but is still defeatable during the duration. Base durations tend to be moderate.

Sleep- enemy is offensively and mobility negated, but ceases to be controlled by any non-regen health change (up or down). Base duration is very long.

Disorient- enemy is offensively negated, but is not immobilized (though movement is random). Enemy is defeatable during this time. Base duration is moderate.

Immobilize- enemy is not affected offensively, but cannot move (except by TP). They are defeatable during this time. Base duration is long.

Confuse- enemy's offense is applied vs. other enemy units (generating slightly less xp per unit defeated by such offensive output, but actually yielding greater xp/hour)and buffs applied to friendly units. Unit is defeatable during this time. Base duration is long.

Fear- Unit is offensively neutralized and usually immobilized, unless damaged at which point the unit may make one retaliatory attack. Unit may be defeated during this duration. Base duration is long/very long.

Slow (i.e. -rech). Enemy unit's attack rate is decreased (mitigating incoming damage substantially). Movement speed is usually reduced as well, which can also have a damage mitigating effect (primarily enemy melee units vs. friendly ranged units). Units may be defeated during this time. Base duration is very long.

All of the above have the shared (and obviously desirable) trait of allowing the enemy to be defeated while under the status effect (sleep, only with one-shots). Also they can all have enhanced duration.

Now look at Black Hole's traits:
    Enemy offensively negated- good.
Enemy is undefeatable- ridiculously bad and contrary to the whole point of the game.
    Short UNENHANCEABLE duration.- effectively broken.

The only reason I can think of NOT to alter/buff Black Hole is that they would then probably nerf other powers in the set in order to maintain balance.
  20. Three more sweet pieces by Gill Bates are up today, including my Liberty scrapper Priss Teen kicking Malta bootay!
