He clearly knows nothing about VEATs if he thinks a crab spider can beat anything in PvP.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nice misquote. I never said anything of the sort.
Also nice to see the personal insults float in. I dont remember once alluding to any other posters gaming skill.

I do have a 50 PB that I played to 50. I played a WS to 44 but deleted it as it didnt ultimately suit my playstyle. I have healthy respect for WS all the same and they can be truly awesome ATs in the right hands.

And as far as my skill with khelds goes I believe I am pretty good thank you. I have over time tried the different permutations at different levels and at 50. I think I have respecced that toon more than any other just out of curiosity for different styles. Tri, human/dwarf and human only. I did a fair amount of psuedo tanking from 22-40ish.
Current build is human/dwarf and as in all my PBs incarnations it is practically unstoppable in PVE. Through lightform then a reasonably slotted dwarf and human form if viable in the circumstances, I will constantly be pouring out damage and if needed some aggro control in all forms.
The only downtime is lightform crash which usually will be about 5-10 seconds to pop some blues then back into the fray.

On my WS I used the standard tactics of the stun aura>double mires/eclipse>Nova form with as many fluffies out as possible.

Depending on build I have full sets of binds for flipping forms and putting a shield up, changing trays etc.

But hey what do i know? I would be very interested to see some of you khelds work your godlike genius and put me to shame. I thought I had a healthy understanding of khelds play styles but obviously not.

Tbh I would prefer anything over watching 99% of PBs i see sat in dwarf when there is a real tanker in the team.

And BAM you are completely useless to all. No damage, very poor aggro control. You STILL have to retoggle back in human form.

I have a human/dwarf pb and i know full well how useless dwarf form is. That argument is old. Try fighting a map of CoT or any of the other non stop mezzers and tell me that a pb is contributing anything bar novelty to a team.

They will continue to be such. Novelty AT that gets invited to teams out of pity. Until the CYST turns up and the team breaks up or they force the pb to change toons.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Perhaps useless to you, but that might just be down to build or play style. Personally, my triform PB steamrolls through pretty much ALL mobs, only slowing down a little for EB's and Malta sappers. Dwarf form is FAR from useless either. I can quite happily tank AV's as long as there's an empath around to throw a heal at me every once in a while.

TBH, your comment about Cysts is kind of telling. I don't have ANY problems dealing with those things, and usually solo the buggers even when teaming.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Come on. When fighting +2 or +3 missions with a cyst next to an AV????? You may have no problem but that doesnt mean your team wont.

Dwarf is poor. After 35 they cant come anywhere close to a tanker on practically any level.

You missed the bit about the damage biuff then I gather...

Who needs mez prot when u can kill anything in 5-10 seconds.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Can't kill a PB in dwarf form.

    [ QUOTE ]
who needs mez prot when your opponent cant hit you? RAD or Dark for example.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No one informed you about the to hit buff in nova form then?

Not to mention things called inspirations?

It's not keldians that suck in PvP. It might be the person playing them...

    [/ QUOTE ]

The damage buff isnt that great. Still a huge way short of blasters and you know it.
Going into nova form in pvp is suicidal to say the least.
Dwarf form is useless for anything and in pvp you will die quickly. An em stalker will mince you very quickly.

Ill duel you anytime with my pb if u want. I do pvp with it now and again but mainly for the aforementioned novelty value. Until every single person guns for you shouting "LOLPVPB!" And I have beaten a few VEATs in 1v1 duels. And the hardest VEAT duel was with a crab spider.

Regardless of pvp changes khelds will STILL NOT HAVE MEZ PROTECTION.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What utter utter rubbish.. I really don't know why people persist in believing this blatant falsehood... Kheldians have LOADS of mez protection; arguably some of the best mez protection in game, in fact. It's called Dwarf Form. It's a toggle power, just like many other forms of mez protection. All you have to do is click it, and bam.. No one is mezzing you. If fact, with these changes, it just got better too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

AND ALL ATS WITH NO MEZ PROTECTION JUST SUCK IN PVP. LOOK AT BLASTERS AND CORRUPTORS FOR EXAMPLE.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeh lets look at blasters. No mez protection true but a humongous amount of damage output. Way above anything a PB could ever dream of. Who needs mez prot when u can kill anything in 5-10 seconds.
Fender is also a nice comparison as PBs damage is in the same ballpark as fenders secondary. Fenders primaries offer huge amounts of mitigation. Either direct defence WITH mez protection sonic/FF or huge amounts of debuff - who needs mez prot when your opponent cant hit you? RAD or Dark for example.
Same goes for corruptors who are a mixture of the two.

And I think I am justified in wanting at least some pvp capacity for the hero epics as some of the VEATs seem specifically designed to perform excellently in PvP. Why else do they have such huge amounts of mez protection and resistance?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Perhaps, instead of blowing off steam, you actually READ what Castle posted. These changes are for PvE only, as clearly shown in the announcement title. There will be a post in the coming days/weeks detailing the upcoming PvP changes as well. Currently they're not finalised so he can't tell us what's changing there... Yet.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Regardless of pvp changes khelds will STILL NOT HAVE MEZ PROTECTION. I seriously doubt they will be adding new pvp only powers. And any global change to mez as a whole will STILL benefit every other AT before khelds.

And maybe in future you could try not shooting in with your LOLPVP comment every single time anybody mentions those three letters?

Even when they orgnise a special PvP event 90% of the player base aren't interested.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So what? that is relevant how? This game is developed in the US for the US playerbase. 10% of the US playerbase cant be far short of total eu players.
And now they are changing the powers system so finally the endless crying of pvp ruining the game can finally stop. Justifiably so in some cases and others just hysteria.

PvP IS an element of this game and I dont see why people who dont like it start jeering and carping about any mention of it. What about all the other broken elements of the game? 100% of the playerbase completely ignore the shadow shards yet you dont start crying about them? All that development time wasted on a huge white elephant.

And I think I am justified in wanting at least some pvp capacity for the hero epics as some of the VEATs seem specifically designed to perform excellently in PvP. Why else do they have such huge amounts of mez protection and resistance?

    [/ QUOTE ]

PBs can PvP, in fact they just got several boosts in that regard since their damage just got upped and they can switch to Dwarf form from human even while mezzed (there's your VEAT mez protection matched, or surpassed, right there).

Plus Castle has just announced the PvP / PvE seperation thing for powers, so no-one can realistically state that they aren't doing anything for PvP.

Warshades might be a different kettle au poisson, but its not like Crab Spiders are particularly well designed for PvP either from what I can see.

    [/ QUOTE ]

True pvp may be different in i13. Still while u can pvp with a pb, human form will still be useless without light form. No huge difference from how it stands now. Two minutes of mediocre damage output then just not dying the rest of the time. Crab spider will still pwn a pb.

It is only a minor quibble truthfully in light of the huge QoL boost that khelds will get in PvE.

Although tbh I dont think I will be logging my pb again. The toggle drop change seems more appealing for blasters/fenders/trollers to me. And no one seems to have mentioned it but the toggle drop issue seems a somewhat dubious bonus for khelds.

The much vaunted dwarf mez prot STILL means you will have to retoggle all of you powers.

PBs will just sit in dwarf all the time and WS will just carry on as usual i expect.

Maybe I am just negative as the khelds will still be a non option for pvp while some VEATs seem tailor made to be highly effective all round pvp'ers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This doesn't bother me in the slightest, seeing as PvP is complete carp anyway. This game is primarily PvE, and always will be, no matter how much they try to glue PvP elements to it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Didnt a dev quote 10% of the player base pvp'ing at some event last year?

And part of the reason for PvP being odd seems the devs previous desire to jump from idea to idea leaving a lot of unfinished or ignored elements floating around. Hami, shadow shards, khelds, that SG power object trial, cimer, etc..

PvP in this game can be truly spectacular and really quite exciting in a way that I dont think many other games can match.
I have been playing WAR for the last few days and all I can say is MEH. Boring, boring and dull. The pvp while being balanced is more of the same. Completely uninspired.

While a random night in RV can be crazy. Players shooting around the map with fast paced action. Melee types scuffling with ranged attacks flashing around.
There are huge problems that finally, like it or not the devs are giving serious attention to.

So regardless of your opinion Devs obviously have made time to focus on the pvp element of this game. Just a pity that khelds will continue to miss out on the fun.
  10. Personally would have preferred mez protection. All those great buffs are still useless when mezzed, which will still be all the time.
So ultimately little will change visibly as PBs will just be sat in dwarf 90% of the time.

VEATs still seem a vastly superior option for both pve/pvp. Mez protection coming out of their ears and team buffs that make most teams eager for them to join.

Cosmic balance is random at best. As Carnifax said a team with 3+ blasters hardly needs more damage vice versa with tankers and resistance. Mez protection is just an irrelevance from cosmic balance.

The rest of the changes could have been left out and just give mez protection. This alone would boost khelds performance as they wouldnt be staggering around half the time.

And I refuse to get excited about cosmic balance being extended to forms as that was just a ludicrous omission in the first place.

Maybe I am just negative as the khelds will still be a non option for pvp while some VEATs seem tailor made to be highly effective all round pvp'ers.

    i13 Changes?

Yeh res cap team is hard work.
Pain domination incoming too. I would guess that will be a pvp set.
  12. Charnell

    i13 Changes?

So any ideas on this pvp rebalancing?
It has been stated that pve powers will no longer be directly linked to pvp powers.
Hopefully this opens the doors to more pleasing nerfs/buffs to powers.

Maybe if they get it right we will see different sets coming out to play for a change. I am a little bored of the wave of ss/wp melees and fire/nrg blasters.

But ultimately I am quite excited as I like a bit of pvp and as it stands it is so broken I cant see the changes being anything but positive.

Anyone else got any ideas or rumors :P

Khelds gonna rule pvp like forts did?
  13. Actually after running around WB a bit I did miss regens uber survivability. Altho the usual fire/nrg blasters were out and they make anything feel squishy.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Yep with 2 builds it can be like having a defensive stance for 8 man teams and a offensive stance for solo. My Shannon always had the offensive stance, no AT is needed and so there is nothing wrong with that but a second build would offer me more flexibility.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeh will be interesting to build a tanker without going for maximum survivability for a change. Take all those attacks I just couldnt find room for
  15. Yeh multi build is such a great idea. Totally love it.

Build 1.-Team tanker, Heavy on defenses and aggro management tools, maybe less single target dam output
Build 2.-Scranker, Damage output focus with defenses tailored for smaller teams or soloing.

Also this could really open up having multiple tankers on a team. One tanker has a scrank build while the other plays the classic team tanker role.

I know with all my tankers I build with the idea of tanking for a big team. Attacks dont get much attention till 32+ while survivability and aggro management are primary. Makes soloing pretty hard or impossible. Or the one exception was my fire tanker which had a great damage output but till later could only adequately tank teams of 6 or less.

    Roll on multi builds
  16. I have been lvlin a spine/fire scrapper on and off for a while. Think its gonna be a good all round toon. Only been pve up to now but again the damage output is quite special.

/fire on scrappers seems a really solid choice all round. Good fast heal and another build up power.
Cant wait to get mine up to RV level.
  17. Well I still think the "HUGELY HUGER THAN THE HUGEST THING EVER!" claims seem more absurd with each announcement, but...

    i13=win

Finally some overt dev action towards pvp. Rebalancing powers only for pvp. Multiple build=goodness.

Xp Pact looks pretty good as I start duo's with a friend a lot but i tend to outlevel him a lot. I am really looking forward to this feature. Abuse is possible but whatever. Farmers gonna farm and denying non farmers a great system is surely letting farming rule the game.

The only thing that would totally satisfy me for i13 would be some attention to pvp zones, revamp rewards and fix the little problems. And nerf heavies to pve targets only.
  18. I am currently playing a stone/stone tanker.
I got to 32 using only stone skin, Rock armour, rooted and minerals. Oh the wedding band temp helped a lot too.
I have only picked up tp and fitness pool atm.
I thought about leadership but end usage is pretty tight so im not sure if I will be taking it later. Maybe ill pick up conserve if i do go leadership.

For attacks I have both mallets, fault and taunt which along with mudpots helps aggro management.

I slotted some run speed unique and 3 slotted swift. Without rooted in granite I move fast enough for maneuvering around.

Pretty good fun up to now
Will start working on a final build closer to 50 then spec into it.
  19. No mez prot but 3 shield powers in human? What earthly use are all those shields when you are getting mezzed every 10 seconds.

Inherent doesnt work in forms. What is the point of having an AT with the big feature being the forms and an inherent that doesnt work in those forms. Seriously. Major league stupid.

On top of that the inherent is pretty poor even when it does work.

In light of that i feel quants and voids are the least of a khelds problems.
  20. Tell me what?
You are seriously deluded if you think wp isnt one of the best.
Each primary has strengths and weaknesses. Willpower is the one set where the weaknesses are minimal. Full range prot including psi, full mez prot and huge regen and recovery. Only weaknesses are taunt aura isnt the best and no heal. Both of those problems are EASILY offset with minimal work.

Now every other set has bigger weaknesses imo. Stones weaknesses are pretty obvious. Fire has no KB prot and is a lot squishier than other sets. Invuln is just lol. Ice is just odd and dark has huge end usage and no kb.

Nothing wrong with them that is just how the weaknesses/strengths balance out. Except invuln obv.

The taunt issue is pretty pathetic in the face of all the other huge strengths of wp. You saw a few noob tankers. Well noobs will make any sets look bad.
  21. A tanker has a secondary set too???
There is more than just taunt and aura to aggro control. Dont tell me a wp/fire couldnt hold aggro. And dont tell me a wp/ss couldnt easily hold aggro post footstomp.
  22. If its not broke dont fix it.

just had to stop by and say hope everybodys looking forword to some nice freindly action tonigth and we get a decent turn out. happy hunting all

Yeh I was looking forward to it.
Unfortunately it was overwhelming villain vs 6-8 heroes at most with added griefing on top. Not really my idea of fun.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
This is a message from the villains of the rogue islands we plan to lead an invasion team into your beloved Paragon city and attack Sirens call to claim it as our own, we challenge any hero who thinks themselves powerful enough to step up and try and repel out forces who will be lead by Monster Bru and the members of Dark Lords of the Underworld accompanied by members of E.V.I.L. and The Dirty Hand Prints, appose us if you dare.

*rp mode of* This is a nice simple one by popular request mainly from sg and coalition members we plan to run a good old sirens call invasion for control of the zone we invite all heroes and villains pvp nuts and those who don’t care for it all that much to come along good fun is always had by all the time again will be

Friday the 12th of September hoping to kick things of about 8pm

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Translation-
We are gonna bring a huge number of villains and gank any heroes that come into the zone untill they either leave or change to a villain.

If you arent a regular pvp'er bringing your whole group dont bother coming unless you want to be farmed. We have zero interest in having fun and just want our temps back so we can pwn in sirens again.
  25. Get yourself to the stealth cap, hide+stealth+stealth IO. Dont even bother with pvp on your stalker till you do.

Siren's Call is the perfect zone for your blaster and stalker. Devices performs best in Siren's imo.

Team when you can and watch other players.

Always have BF's on your blaster.

You will get kills on both, just on your stalker at first go for squishier targets. On your blaster tripmines, webnade,tp foe and trops are powerfull weapons.

Recluses Victory is a great zone but there are a lot more powers in action and the AT imbalance in Siren's evens out imo.

I think buildwise you need to build up your own playstyle and spec accordingly. Two people could play the same AT/sets with a totally different build and both be good players. Also Siren's builds need to be tighter with the lvl 30 cap. For instance a lot of stalkers squeeze phase shift in before 30.

But in the main part, just have fun. You will get some verbal abuse as ppl just hate stalkers :P
