    Union Vs Defiant

There is a Union Vs Defiant event happening tomorrow on the test server. Warburg and PocketD arena matches.

Come along even if you arent a big PvP'er. Hopefully should be good fun for all. For more info there is a thread in the PvP forum.

For info on how to access the test server check the training room forum.
Also latest patch is there so any regen scrappers can come over and see the new MoG in action (better imo).
Also I advise setting test up in advance as you will have to d/l the new patch before you can play and also transfer your toons over.
  2. Am askin whoever i think i can get.
Also isnt it a good idea for someone to spam all the defiant/union forums with an announcement?
  3. I will be there!

    Toon- Charnell
    AT- Broadsword/Regen
    Server- Union

After all theres no point pvping if you cant actually kill your opponent.

that kinda sounds like, if you cant win, dont even bother trying...

which... is kinda sad =S Shouldnt you at least try.

Well yeh but you have to have a lot of patience in todays PvP climate. I have got into it a little more recently. But only by working through those initial encounters where you are subjected to almost non stop frustrations.
I think I was on the edge of dropping PvP perma untill I got involved in a few team battles in sirens and RV and found that it can actually be fun. And that you can actually get kills.

I think a lot of people go into a zone to see what pvp is like then get AS'd. Then get AS'd. Then get AS'd. Then get AS'd. Then leave and never return.
Replace with TK, heat loss or perma Dom or plain old ganked.
And maybe they persist and actually manage to get an opponents hp bar below 50% only for them to Phase.

It is all well and good to reply or flame people who are desperate for PvP to be more balanced with the usual its pvp its unfair, use any tactic you can etc..

But the plain fact is that PvP is dead in the water EU side. From scanning the US boards it doesnt seem as bad.
Maybe just a bigger population will solve 90% of the problems.

edit- also one thing that still gets under my skin is the mobs in some of the zones. Heavies stink. WB an RV its pretty annoying in a duel or battle to have some annoying psi enemies run over and finish you. If an enemy uses them to get you fair enough but the random element adds nothing but frustration imo
  5. Unless we could make it happen again.
Yeh was a bit of a dissapointment. Was lookin forward to it too

    Trash Talk

Yeh its frustrating and I do think some powers are really over the top in PvP. But in those instances such as being TK'd into a wall perma I direct my hate at that power. If the positions were reversed and it was me with TK I would do exactly the same.

I play for fun primarily but I also play to win.

A stalker complaining about phase shift?? Thats rich.
One I got the other week in an arena duel was "oh i never seen a tanker run so much!". Not only that he just left the duel. So he wanted me to stand under his storm cloud and die basically.
Its PvP and you get griefing. I do it sometimes but more directed at certain powers I suppose than the players. I agree if the power is there I will use it though.

Lets make a list of things that make you a n00b!

    1. Defeating somebody
    2. Not letting somebody defeat you
    3. Using inspirations
    4. Using temps
    5. Using powers
    6. Moving around

    Does that cover it?
  8. Well its never going to be balanced.
One way I think would improve the PvP zones would be to actually make some PvP zones.
Recluses Victory is ludicrous. I really cant get my head around the thinking behind it, 'we need a lvl 50 PvP zone!', 'Hey I know what would be cool! We will absolutely LOAD the zone from edge to edge with mobs!'. And not just mobs but the heavies. Nothing puts me off more than diving into a scrap with some villains. Get the pulse going. Surviving, got that villain down...One more big hit!! BANG. Oh i suddenly went from my full hit points to zero?
Check combat log - arachnos heavy hits you for 1500 nrg dam, arachnos spider hits you for 300 psi, Mu Guardian hits you for........etc etc.

I dont care about balance. And you have to understand that even with huge changes to the mechanics of the game to introduce balance players would still find ways to abuse it. I think the system is ok. Not perfect. For me the biggest problem is the very poor design of some of the PvP zones.
  9. Cant follow this thread. The words 'PvP' and 'Balance'????
What are you thinking?? These words must keep a safe distance of at least 1000 km from each other at ALL TIMES!

I understand what you are saying but I disagree. A friendly request to even the sides a little can and does work. I have seen this happen a few times in Sirens and RV. Only speaking for Union but there are a lot of PvPers who seem more interested in having fun rather than just ganking or farming ppl.
I really want to get some villains a lot higher for this reason alone. So i can switch sides if it will keep the fun factor high in PvP.
  10. Well after playing my first toon to 50, broadsword scrapper i can say how it makes me feel. Rooted tension building animation then BANG release. Its fun
Also even with all the damage being S/L I have been having fun in PvP as the huge dam output seems to make up for it being so resisted.

But you really have to have a compatible mindset to deal with the very slow attacks.
  11. At what point have i stamped my feet and called names?
Also what does 'speed run' equate to in your terms?

And do you remember hitting on Flames for disconnecting? That wasnt very nice and completely uncalled for. Want me to quote that back to you badger?
  12. 01-22-2008 19:16:37 Death Badger has joined the team

U really want me to carry on?
Sorry your feelings were hurt but if you would have given the OP the chance you would have recieved a sincere apology.
  13. Solar Flare is pretty bad for kb. As a pb and as a tank i know it cant be really annoying doing it in the middle of a herded mob sending them flyin everywhere.

Well to be honest, last night i saw a Stalker consistently targeting a defender, the defender was not experienced in PvP... in fact broadcast the fact on entry to Sirens that she was not used to this kind of thing and would appreciate any pointers, she had clearly accompanying a friend.
This aside, It IS a PvP zone and it was bound to happen, but I must say this stalker was overly targeting the defender (who was having very little impact on the tide of battle) because she was inexperienced. Hide-target-AS Strike-Run-Hide-target-AS Strike-Run-Hide-Target-AS Strike-Run-Hide-Target-AS Strike ad infinitum ad nauseum.

I must say,... when i see this I do not think "Wow, thats a really cunning Stalker targetting the weak link of a chain for strategic effect for his teams benefit!" - I just think "lame...one.trick.pony", and to be honest its not really hard is it, they actually fall down in my estimation as cunning stalkers.

Well beyond the skill argument why is that player acting in that manner? They are getting no reputation becuase they will be killing them so quickly after last kill.
The only motivation is to annoy or upset somebody. That is their perogative and it is PvP zone but that behaviour purposefully towards somebody who has stated they are newb will just turn that player off zonal PvP. Then they can come on the boards and complain about empty zones. And they are probably perma /hide too. Great way to guarantee permamenent empty zones.

I agree that in PvP zones everyone is fair game. If i see em I will attack mostly. I will lose or win. If it looks like they are up for more it carries on and hopefully ppl have fun.
If they start crying about it I will back off. Then probably kill them again later on for the rep. I wont repeatedly kill somebody just to wind them up. Unless they are really asking for it.

I think stalkers get in a certain mindset. Its like the stanford prison experiment. Brings out all the base behaviours in people
  15. Well ice/energy tanker is friendly for PvP but to be honest I have found mine to be a bit meh in Pve. It is a good solid build dont get me wrong but I think EM is a bit boring for a new player.
From what I have seen but not played myself I have seen spines/regen scrappers who can mix it up nicely in PvE and PvP. Maybe not the uber PvP build but looks like a nice all round toon to play.
  16. I havent got my current build in mids atm.
I use my fire/fire/pyre to do a bit of everything.
Imo tough/weave arent that needed. Not at all for farming. I dropped taunt as it isnt that hard to hold aggro really.
Burn is good but irrelevant really with all the other damage u can pump out without sending mobs screaming away from you.
My approach to my tanker is more biased towards dam output as I find this plus the excellent heal mitigates most dam u take. Slot to improve your rech so your heal is up practically perma then not much can take you down. If you are up against mobs who you arent that resistant to just use smaller herds.

Its my only 50 tanker and at first there was the point where i realised i was teh squishy tanker compared to other primaries. I am not sure on figures but I expect there are scrappers out there with equal or higher def/res than me. But once you get the balance between dam incoming and outgoing I realised the beauty of the fire/fire tanker.

And for farming I find I can keep up with fire/kins pretty well. Touch of SB and I am a farming machine.

Shame some moron cleared my freak farming mish
  17. I had fun too. First time I have played in team arena fights and really enjoyed it.

    PvP in Siren's!

there is never anyone in sirens

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well maybe there is but they all on hide
  19. Can somebody help me with a PvP build for a BS/Regen scrapper? Something that will hit hard across the zones? Sirens and Warburg mainly and RV now and again.
I have tried a few different builds but never been totally happy with them. I do use mids but i'm not an experienced PvP'er so not sure on stuff like what set bonuses to go for etc.

    Any help appreciated!

Oh just wanted to add I seem to be very susceptible to terror effects. Any way to cut down or stop this would be REALLY appreciated. Other than BF's obv.

    PvP in Siren's!

Just wanted to say something nice!
Im still a PvP newb but I have been playin around with some of my toons for PvP recently. Spent ages in Sirens yesterday and had a really fun time. On hero side. I found it really fun with the ebb and flow of villains and hero's. At one point there was a really together Vill team pwnin the hero's with FFG an heals. All great fun.

A couple of thoughts tho, why do so many people, mainly Vills have hide on so their name doesnt come up on whoall? I just find that if i go to a PvP zone and no names come up I will leave to do something else. Does it really matter if I know there is a stalker in the zone? Doesnt everyone just act as if there is one there anyway?

Also maybe it is more in Sirens than other zones the only thing that I found a little boring was the huge numbers of stalkers. I am not bashing the players of stalkers and some are very good players but it just felt like the most fun was when there was a balance of Villains around. Otherwise it just seemed to be - Wait in a small/big group of heroes. AS or dual AS from one or more stalkers, chase stalkers, kill or not. Repeat. Maybe I just need to pick up a +per IO.
Also yesterday wasnt too bad with ppl leaving the second they got killed. Why do people do that? Its not like you get debt or anything?

Either way I hope to make PvP'in a bigger part of my CoX time.
  21. I dont see how a squidless WS is worthwhile. I have seen it done but after playing one to 39 I dont see the point. Seems like a gimped troller to me.
Main feature for me of the WS is the mires and once you have mired once or twice you need to pump that damage out and only squid has that capability. Dwarf dam output is laughable and there arent that many human form attacks that will do the mires justice.
PB human/dwarf is far more realistic.

    PVP

I really wish khelds were PVP-able but they arent.
Yes it is possible to stay alive but you just cant pump out enough damage. Not worth the effort imo. Just roll a toon for PvP and save yourself the time you would waste getting pwned with your kheld in PvP.
  23. I only got in on that big team battle in RV on saturday morning. Was great fun. Great Defending by Psydock too!
  24. Kheld haters are just boring. Ignore them. Seems like any time anyone mentions a kheld there is a troll waiting in the wings to hurl abuse.

They have their own distinct play style. They are fun. And in PVE they are excellent in the right hands.
WarShade is really fun and really powerfull. I take it you have just discovered the joy of double mire's-wipe out mob-stygian circle? I know the feeling
PB's are great for the self contained approach which is cool but with the WS I feel you trade off with more power but become more dependant on the trail of the dead. You constantly have to think one step ahead for the majority of your powers. I suspect this is one of the elements that draws some of the disparaging remarks. Khelds need constant dynamic playstyles, you cant sit back and mash through the same routine every fight. Thats what I personally enjoy about them anyway.

And btw it gets better. Your next milestone in your nictus fuelled career is 32 where u MUST get your fluffies.
