This would be my suggestion. This also makes a good build for doing the incarnate trials.
T4 Judgement, Musculature, and Ageless, with a dash of Reactice, equals 6 minute reset on +4 x 8.

Quote:Some of these are pretty good, but this one is just plain silly. The reward tables have nothing to do with jumping into the spawns, and probably little to do with iXP. The only fun part of these repetitive trials is mobbing the mobs. Waiting for the leader to say sally forth when everyone has done the dang thing a 100 times or more is a waste of time and typing.
[guns on the wall, only boss xp]
If you are going to leave the guns on the wall, why not leave the mobs in the courtyard? They despawn anyway. Personally I like taking them all out just because it is kind of fun.
Just wanted to say, that mostly this happens when different people have different load times.
As with most of the points I was originally trying to make, it all comes down to impolite actions and words. You think its silly to actually wait for everyone to be ready. That is your opinion. My opinion is that it might be better to get all of the league into the zone, and buffed up before you "Sally Forth".
Nevermind that eager beavers are usually the first ones to do bone headed stuff, like the rest of the points I made. So, I will agree with you. It sure does help figure out who to hit with the Ban Hammer for my trials.
Oh look, an ignorant ,rude S.o.B, P.o.S...lets play whack-a-mole!
Anymore. If I do a trial without the usual group of friendly misanthropes I hang with. I start off all of it with a series of questions based on this list. So I know exactly what I am dealing with. That is, after I place the new foam rubber mat down just in front of my keyboard on my desk. It saves us both later... -

10: Jumping into the first mob before the League Leader says…GO.
This happens a lot in the trials as everyone assumes that jumping in first to every mob will yield better iXP and better chance for higher tier drop tables. Mostly just leads to frustration for the League Leader and anyone that happens to be on TS or Vent with that person
9: Not finishing off one mob spawn before jumping into another.
This happens about as often, all League members are running around the map together trying to defeat a mob and Scrappy McHopsalot has hit one aoe attack and then hopped off to the next mob. Look, we all like the new shiny, we all want to get something done, but please, wait for all the baddies of one mob to be tp’d to the villain hospital before heading off. It’s just rude not to.
8: Not having a League Chat Tab open
Look, we are trying to say something about what the plan for the trial is, where each team should go, who should get the Pacifier Grenades, where the heck are all the Acids for the spawn doors, and who is going to be pulling Nightstar and or Siege. If your chat window isn’t ready, how are you to know?
7: Having a temp power and not using it, or where to find it
The best suggestion is to have two or three free spots in your power tray so that if you get a temp power during a lambda it shows up easily. If you do not have the room, please, open up the power list tab, scroll down and look in the far right column of powers, normally under Temp Powers. Look out for Molecular Acids or Pacifier Grenades.
As a side note, let me tell you how annoying it is to have a AR corr or blaster and the Pacifier Grenade icon looks a lot like one of the normal attack powers. Sigh.
6: Not giving the Grenades to a League Leader assigned Pacifier
Sometimes the best thing to do is get all or most of the Grenades on one tank, brute, scrapper or whoever is decided will do the job. Nothing is worse than you are beating on Marauder and he gets enraged and you spend precious minutes calling out to everyone..”Who has the grenades???” Followed by the lovely excuse..”I don’t know where to find them, why should I have them? Oh..yeah..i went with the team into the Warehouse…but why should I have them. I didn’t attack any of the boxes.”
I think I have two bald spots due to this happening more often than I would like to remember!
5: Doing the Job given to your team for that Trial
Goes back to having a League chat tab open or at least asking what is going on in team chat. If you and your team are doing the job assigned then things typically go smooth. If not, then just like Malcolm Reynolds on Serenity, you are going to wonder why it never goes smooth.
Breaking up the Trials a bit
BAF:
4: Not Being Patient for the First Attack on Nightstar.
If you are doing the normal safe run where you pull the AV’s to the middle building just north of the Tennis Courts, then let’s all agree that were you pull Nightstar and defeat her, is kind of nice to have her right about the middle of the wall. It helps when she rez’s after defeating Siege to have them both as close together as possible. This helps those that have veng bait, or toggle anchors to have both AV’s grouped up.
If that is how you do it, then let’s all agree to back the pets off and let the puller get her to the middle. Wait just a few seconds to start spamming holds, slows, immobs, and toggles until the League Leader says GO.
3: Escapee Coverage Phase
The League Leader says something like Team 1 and 2 cover the South walkway, Team 3 cover the North. How about you look to see what team you are on, and swagger on over that way. If you have a chat tab open and are trying to pay attention, then that should be a piece of cake. If not I know for sure that the League Leader is doing some loud HEADDESK’ing. Please. Think of the poor defenseless desks.
2: Look for the focus of the AV’s or Adds
If your team is tasked with looking out for the Adds, please for the love of a hell-spawned paranormal investigator, let that be your focus.
If the League Leader chats, “NS getting to low, focus more on Siege”, Let us not have you going over to try attacking the Towers or Just sitting in the Tennis Court contemplating your navel.
1: Leave the Towers alone
Another thing, Please, don’t always run over to turn off the Towers. I know it’s a glowie. And the Dev’s have conditioned us to click on every glowie we can find, but…DON’T. We have an easy Astral Merit for not touching them. Unless the League Leader says to. Then, go ahead and click away.
Lambda:
4: To Gun or not to Gun
Ok. You have cleared the street, the courtyard, now let’s see, I would ask “Are we clearing the Guns?” Answer from me, No! Why, cause for the trouble to kill them, all you get is boss xp. And for two teams, boss xp isn’t really worth it to me.
3: Don’t just hop into an elevator after the Big Bot
So now you enter to defeat the Security team of one giant robot. Things go well, you beat him to scrap metal. Now, this is the tricky part. Go where the League Leader says to go. Normally I see, Team 1 Lab, Team 2 Warehouse. But there is a catch. Be patient Grasshopper!
Wait for a buff with Veng or Destinies, shields etc, then gather around the correct doors. When the League Leader says Go. Then enter. Jumping through the doorways as fast as possible is as bad as Jumping mob to mob around the street. Just don’t do it.
2: PHOTOBOMBING IS FOR NINNIES
Another thing, Let’s not sit back and not help with the lab and warehouse, and instead get ready to photo bomb the Cut Scene. Look, that stuff is funny the first time. But, you know, if you can’t manage to not agro the AV and his mob, upsetting the opportunity to buff up again before the first GO, then, please stop. Again, think of the Desks. *To be clear: If you are a running back from the hospital, in a hurried attempt to get back into the fight, and just happen to get in the Cut Scene, you are good, it is not an issue. If you are found to be doing a dance emote, or the Praetorian Protest emote and have a specific Battlecry, for just the right part of Maruaders' speach, the yes Virginia, you are a NINNIE*
1: Leave the glowies alone.
Outside on the ramp is a good spot to buff up again and transfer the Pacifier Grenades to the person the League Leader says to. If you decide, after both teams have gotten 10 nades, and 10 acids that those mobs covering the glowies are a good idea, Just Sit On Your Hands. Look, every time someone has hopped over to get the mob guarding the acid glowie, Marauder and his mob always, always notices. Which screws up the buff up time, and the initial attack that clears the mobs surrounding him and gives a clear notice of whether or not he is going to Nova Fist? It just seems to be a waste.
The first dozen or so runs of these that all of us were doing, most of us were -3 or -4 to the mobs. We all were excited to get the new shiney and we had collectively a learning curve to overcome. At this point many of us have at least one character that is 50+3 for the trials, with a decent Judgement, Destiny, Lore, and Interface. Many are trying to get the rare and very rares at this point, but there are plenty out there still looking to just unlock things.
I think it might be fair to announce when forming a League just what it is that you are planning to do. Much like KILL MOST ITF's for shard drops, its nice to be told that going in. So if you are planning on get Master of Badges or going for other "needs" like iXP runs of BAF where you purposely let Siege and Nightstar rez to get more iXP from the adds, please let your league members know. Its the polite thing to do.
And most of all, please don't be shy to ask questions. If your team members aren't responding, they may be on TS or Vent, if League chat isn't ready for you, use Broadcast or Local, or Request Channels to try and get peoples attention.
Things could and should run smooth as Willy Wonka's chocolate river, but only if we all take the time and effort to try a little. -
My question comes from the stand point of how a Spiritual recharge icon, is next to my pets' name in the pet window. Now. I understand that the Spiritual does not effect the recharge of summon. But does it effect the recharge of the pets' attacks or buffs?
I would think so. But I have no idea how to test this. -
This is what I would use if I was running a claws/fire.
I typically run with a few people, or just my other account. And I have no issues letting the lowbie bite it, so I get to be soft capped, perma.
With hasten, and the proc in Shockwave firing, your recharge will be insane. Making your Healing Flames, and Consume come back fast. Burn and Spin become your bread and butter. You literally aoe everything to ashes. no real need for a single target chain. But, I tried to keep what you seem to be looking for.
YMMV, Good luck, and burn baby burn

Quote:I've taken a bit of what's been said so far and incorporated a few things. With that in mind I came up with this variation.
- Tier 1; Melee, Minor DMG(Lethal), DoT(Energy), Foe -DEF
- Tier 2; Contaminated Strike - Melee, Moderate DMG (Energy/Smash, Foe Knockdown) Foe -Defense
- Tier 3; Irradiate - PBAoE, Moderate DMG(Lethal), DoT(Energy), Foe -DEF
- Tier 4; Taunt - Ranged, Foe Taunt, -Range
- Tier 5; Radioactive Smash - High Dmg(Melee, Energy/Smash, Foe Knockdown) Foe Disorient, -Defense, -Fly
- Tier 6; Build Up - Self +DMG, +To-Hit
- Tier 7; Electron Haze - Close (Cone), Moderate DMG(Lethal), DoT(Energy), Foe - DEF
- Tier 8; Neutron Cloud - Location PBAoE, Moderate DoT(Energy), Foe -DEF [Up front dmg like Burn, but -Def cloud left behind. Variation on Burn Mechanic, without the DoT]
- Tier 9; Cosmic Pulse - Close Chain AoE(Like Jolting Chain) , MInor (Energy), A cloud of radiation effects the foe next to them. First target receives moderate -res, each proceeding jump the -res gets weaker till it's dissipated.
Not sure I like the idea of the Tier 9 power to be a chain attack, with a chance to fail after the first hit.
I would suggest reordering things this way.
Tier 1: Melee. minor
Tier 2: Contaminated Strike
Tier 3: Radioactive Smash
Tier 4: Taunt
Tier 5: Atomic Charge; new type of buildup
Tier 6: Solar Wind: Electron Haze graphic, but faster animation: need to remember the kb for the lovely Force Feedback proc
Tier 7: EMP; Handclap type, irradiates aoe high -def, low acc
Tier 8: Atomic Blast; Neurton Bomb animation, but single target This sets Hurl
Tier 9: Pulsar, Irradiate graphic, Footstomp range, possible knockdown
The main thing this set lacks is a overpowered single target attack.
Atomic Charge: not sure how to do this. But I would like to see it be a Rage clone, but with a twist, that while active, the damage swaps from energy/lethal, to all toxic. No real damage buff, but seeing how most of the game has little toxic resistance, that might be the better deal. A similar rage crash could be explained that your atomic structure needs time to readjust after its use, before being able to expell "normal" energy.
Even if it worked like buildup and lasts 10 seconds, with a recharge of around 30 after enhancements, that would be ok as well. -
Didn't realize that. What happens when the cob webs are still up in the brain pan and I am thinking of stuff at work.
Thanks for the info. -
I guess my reasoning for the fire/cold def, was to shore it up in case I find a repeatable mission to do.
I thought postional would be a good way to go, but thought it was easier to use the Kinetic Combats a few times and save slots.
Something I just remembered was that I have the vet reward that gives me an extra 5% to any pill I take, so a small purple nets me 17.5% def across the board for 2 or 3 minutes. Which made me think, If i can get my defenses to a minimum of 28%, I would be soft capped with just one baby purple.
So I tweaked the build a bit. I would be soft capped to everything except psi with a baby purple.
Also leaving me with 84.6 % S/L resist and 90% Nrg Resist, and 60% to Fire/Cold/Psi. That made me fairly comfortable.
As to why not take Combustion and Lightning Field. I feel Combustion is sluggish to activate and feels sub-par in the damage, and I like having the 3 sword attacks for concept reasons.
Thanks for your imput. -
This is a build I was hoping to use for my current main tank and long term Incarnate project.
He is the first tank that I have stuck with since the year CoV came out.
I have done the RSF, LGTF, Apex, Tin Mage, ITF, and Rush the Rikti raids. And with the great teams I have been with, have felt very tough and durable.
And as the new Incarnates unlock I hope to see much use out of him.
But any help in tweaking the build would be great. As the build stands, I could actually slot it this way. As I have all the set pieces somewhere.

I have to wonder if Hickman has a little bit of a multiple personality disorder...if you check out the facebook page...one has to wonder....
So the question becomes, when did he first start hearing "the voices"....
I have a feeling it might have been due to us on these forums, and you know, COH/COV/GR!... -
well I guess this all depends on your play style. Before stamina was an inherent power, I would not always get the first 3 attacks in any set. I normally found the Endurance use far exceeded my Recovery rate and left me feeling winded after almost every other mob. Makes a basic mission feel like it takes forever.
This is an example to get you started on basic stuff. At least in my opinion.

This is an idea I came up with, after talking with a server bud. It has similar goals as yours, but gets helped over softcap with 2 little purps.

Hi, its Lant.
Just wondering if anyone was planning on going, so, you know, I wouldn't be all alone in the vast concrete jungle of NYC. -
I used to go to a Pen and Paper RPG store that also sold comics, and had a pay to play computer area. Well, I was coming in to pick up my stash of comics for the week, and I look over and a dude is playing a colorful looking game I had never heard before. I ask what he is playing. He says it a beta of City of Heroes, and he and a few others are going through the maze in Perez Park, and I just see all the "stuff" going on.
From then on I was looking forward to its release date, knowing that the computer I was using at the time, had no chance of running it. But I did have a friend whose computer could. Bought the game the first week it came out, took it over to a buds house, and ran the game.
Being a comic book fan, and getting to use super speed or flight was the highlight for me, the character creator was the best. Having that much creative control was fun.
My first kept toon was an Empathy/Rad defender that would eventually be my first 50 but sadly hardly gets touched anymore. Lanterness was my first creative name for a toon that wasn't already taken. Her name led to my in-game nick name of Lant that has lasted 6 plus years.
After the struggle of getting her to 50, I went the usual route and made two FOTM toons of Fire/Nrg blaster and Fire/Ice tank. After those two I made my big "I want to be different" toon and made a Stone/SS tank. And some how made a decent build before ED and the IO changes.
At this point, with two accounts, and over 50 50's I have done plenty in the game. Some things I have not done in so long that they are new now. For 5 years I have been a redside man. Never jumping off for more than a TF or two, but now with yellow side, I got to more a brute into Talos for the first time in years and am sort of liking things again.
The biggest break I took was for a free month trial of worlds of why..which I broke off after getting to level 14 and asking...where's my travel power...someone there laughed at me and told me when I got to Buy a mount..so..yeah..frak that noise, and back I came and stayed.
I started with a love of comics and some favorite characters, I stay cause of the people and the fun. -
Well, I certainly look forward to trying to get into the Meet and Greet...what's proper attire? Spandex and iron gauntlets..or..you know...something more west villiage?..hmmmm

Ok. How about something totally different..
Clint Eastwood for directing.
He can make a personal film with scope and heroic themes.
Find a director of photography that could give us epic visuals using a real city scape.
Get someone to write a score that evokes John Williams but sets its own standard.
Get an actor that has the gravitas and the awe shucks maim needed to play both Supes and Clark
Its not the CGI set pieces, its not the villian, its not the flying, the heat vision or lifting a small moon. Its the personal choice to do the morally right thing that sets Superman as the icon of heroes.
At least, thats how I see it. -
Quote:No. Most of us suspect it's a marketing issue again, and they assumed big new numbers and did not want to scare away new players from the forums with, you know, intelligent, civil discourse on anything BUT this game. Truthfully, with the rules as they are, they can lock down threads about Marvel/DC Heroes as they deal with other games and the competition.
The sad thing is, of the other MMOs out there, they all freely allow the comaprisons, and make allowances for civil political discussion. Even still, their communities suck. This is the only forum I read regularly.
Depending on the topic...I have a strong belief that civil, intelligent discourse is like a SR scrapper with no auto powers and all toggles turned off, fighting +4 Supa Troll in Skyway. Lightly interesting, but mostly..Painful -
Quote:Hello, be aware of:
The discussion of real world issues and real world politics past or present are strictly forbidden on the forums. Please keep your comments within the forum rules.
Ok..i get how rules are rules and all...but..does anyone think its "interesting" that the enforcement of these rules goes into effect after GR comes out.
Darn Praetorians! -
Looking at the last post..i just had a thought....Shocking I know...
Instead of beating up villians..
Why not give them a box of kittens... -
I can bring a dark cor, but I would like to bring alongmy /wp brute as well..maybe we can do more than one run?

When I was younger I played Heroes Unliminted. One day I was making a character, and just rolling the dice and I came up with Alter Physical Structure: Stone, Enegry Expulsion Fire, and Wingless Flight. I was trying to come up with a name, like the fire aspect and may have just read a comic with Carnage in it. So I started mashing up different fire words, and got Charnage. I like the sound of it, and well, when City of Heroes came out, it wasn't my first name. My first character was Lanterness. but, it didn't sound tough enough for a forum name, with all the fun that we have here, so I changed it to what I have now...Grrr...Arrrgh...
