Looking for some help regarding this build and the ability to do the current trials and looking to the new one on the way.
Any help would be great.
Besides Trials, I was hoping for good TF/SF all around. I am not opposed to going all the way Villain to unlock the Patrons Pools for a final build.
This one is to mostly get my feet wet.

Thank you all for helping me finally get the Mo badge. Chocolate syringes for all of you!
I was surprised at how easy it was to do...
Glad we have some many awesome people on this server! -
Syntax is writing semantically. Which to me seems Symmetrical!
-
The reason I went the way I did for a build, was after looking at the various types of mobs you will face in the late game.
Most of the end game mobs are going to be hitting you with multiple types of attack damage. With energy, smashing/lethal, and fire being the main ones.
I know I like farming Nemisis, Demons, Crey, and the AE Firemaps. I recently did a build for a warhammer/fire and tried to make it Praetoria mob friendly. And it did well enough that I began making 2nd and 3rd builds on my other Fire Armor toons along those same lines.
The sets that seem to help the most in finding Ranged or Energy Def are as follows
3 or 6 slots of Thunderstrike
2 to 4 slots of Basaliks' Gaze
3 or 4 slots of Reactive Armor
3 slots of Eradication
Some Primary sets and Epic powers allow for a good number of these sets to be included.
My other idea comes from me having two active accounts. I use one to farm, the other as veng bait. Doing so really helps make a difference in how the build can look.
This is far from a perfect example, but is similar to what I have currently on one build

Gotta love it how after I log for the night..that is when you all make it happen.
Grats none the less. -
Would like to help you here, but I would like to know if you plan on doing a lot of Incarnate Trials and what kind of farming are you talking about. Or do you just want to be able to handle most everything the game has to offer?
I assume money is no object?!
This is the kind of all around build I wouldn't mind using

This is cut from my post titled TOP TEN THINGS NOT TO DO DURING A TRIAL..
2: PHOTOBOMBING IS FOR NINNIES
Another thing, Lets not sit back and not help with the lab and warehouse, and instead get ready to photo bomb the Cut Scene. Look, that stuff is funny the first time. But, you know, if you cant manage to not agro the AV and his mob, upsetting the opportunity to buff up again before the first GO, then, please stop. Again, think of the Desks. *To be clear: If you are a running back from the hospital, in a hurried attempt to get back into the fight, and just happen to get in the Cut Scene, you are good, it is not an issue. If you are found to be doing a dance emote, or the Praetorian Protest emote and have a specific Battlecry, for just the right part of Maruaders' speach, then yes Virginia, you are a NINNIE* -
This is my attempt at giving you a build similar to what i use on my claws/fire brute. Personally, I can not see myself farming without the +recharge proc from Forcefeedback. So I set you up with a way to get that in a build that normally wouldn't see it.
I tend to try to get about 32% def to fire on my farmers, as that seems to help manage the +4x8 maps I do. I also tried to set you up with decent energy def in case you ever wanted to do the Incarnate content, to make yourself a bit more sturdy.
If anything, this is another way to think about things. You would be using FSC, Burn, and Energy Torrent repeatedly. But that is the fun with something like this. The Epic AoE's tend to be costly on the end bar as well as seem to be on longer timers. Hope this gives you a few ideas

Darn..I will try to edit it to work.
But wouldn't copying and pasting into Mids' work as well? -
And here is an idea for a build that takes you a small purple inspiration from softcap to type except psi and toxic, while being not to shabby at postitional.

I have a bit more time to give you a better reply. I enjoy the hell out of claws/fire. The first one I made I ran through in Praetoria. As I liked the fast attacks, a PbAoe at level 6 and the ability to be "decent" against most things from 1-20 in Praetoria. The self-heal on a quick timer also helped.
What I noticed is that most of the mobs in Praetoria did fire, energy, or smashing and lethal. And a few mobs seemed to like ranged and or aoe attacks. The clockwork, IDF, PPD and the Syndicate come to mind. The one weakness was against psi or toxic but if the heal was up enough, you got to have some toxic resist as well.
As I moved into CoV, doing radio and tip missions untill I got some contacts under my belt lead me to working up a few different builds.
Until I hit the late 40s up to 50 and Incarnate powers, which lead me to trying to get a build that was good to go in many situations. Both in the trials, as a farm toon, and on almost any Oro arc that sent me back to my younger days build wise.
I typically do not use miracle unless I two or three slot it for bonuses. I would rather go two slots of numina's.
I also have two accounts so I tend to use one as veng bait, and I like having the bonus during tf's and trials, incase the poop hits the fan.
I also use Shockwave and the Forced Feedback proc liberally. It brings back the attacks, Healing Flames and Consume all the faster.
This build includes those Incarnate Abilities I have unlocked and slotted.
Follow up is slotted with Mako's bite for the damage buff and extra hp. It could as easily be slotted for Kinetic Combat.
To answer your question, Kinetic Combat and Obliteration give bonuses to Melee and S/L def. Personally I prefer to get positional defense, as they are easier to find.
If you turn on Vengence you can see what it does to the defense totals. You should be pleasently surprised.
My other goal was to use as few purples as possible. I like what happened without them.
Hope this helps give you your own ideas.

This would be my suggestion, for the end game, as most of the mobs in the Incarnate trials seem to do alot of energy damage.

Why do I get the feeling that I should have posted my ideas to the suggestion and ideas part of the forum. I was not trying to derail the thread. I was trying to give out ideas for a viable alternative, and attempting to reply with consideration and some measuse of humor.
I believe if you don't like something, you should come up with a possible solution. Heck, I don't care if you think me a loon, but if you have another idea that might work, by all means, share. Maybe in the end we can get something in the middle and more than half the people talking about it will be moderately content.
Anyone have a better idea than the two I have talked about a few dozen posts back? -
Quote:I don't mind giving up Astral and Empyrean Merits if I can unlock 75% of the content solo. I don't mind not having all the same options those that do the Incarnate Trials have.As long as this arc also granted an emp merit at completion (once per day as per itrial,) astral merits (as per itrials) and random threads, I'd be all for it. Again, make the enemies level 54 to keep it all comparable.
I'd still much rather see the shard system dumped as unnecessary.
But I will admit that have at least one other path would be nice.
How about a way to get Astrals and Emps through certain Challenge Settings in Oro. -
Quote:I see you have a team vs solo account of how long it takes to get rewards. But nothing said of why one would even need the abilities solo.
I will take a stab at this. To me, the Incarnate Powers are a way to fill the gaps in the various Archtypes. If you are an Invulnerable Tank, who has always had trouble with endurance issues and the build has no endurance recovery like some of the other Armors, you can go Ageless with Destiny slot and fill that gap. If you always wanted to have a Boom like a Blaster but made a Defender now you can pick up a Judgement power that feels very Boomy.
It isn't so much that you need these abilities, but if you look at them as Super Pool Powers, that requires work to round out the rough edges of a character you have enjoyed playing, then more options, paths, or roads to glory can't be all bad can it? -
Another addition to my idea would be to add a story arc that allowed for each Incarnate power to be unlocked.
Maybe they plan on doing this once Paragon Points comes out. But a story arc for each Incarnate Power would be nice. I wouldn't mind if it was something like a Patron arc, with its 10-20 missions to complete, if it was meant to be similar to the grind of Incarnate Trials.
Would anyone be opposed to something like this? -
How about make it simple
Hero/Villain Merits only for conversion:
Common:
1 Hero Merit equals Common Component. For sake of normal dev design, or old timer end of TF random drop, let it be a random roll. But, I would rather be able to pick
2 days of Tip mission runs per Common. 6 days for a T1
Uncommon:
2 for Random Uncommon, 4 for player pick
4 days to get an Uncommon
Rare:
5 or 10 Hero Merits.
10 to 20 days.
If I am remembering it right. Doing the math: 6 days for T1, 10 days for T2, 26 days for T3. 42 days total for Level shift on Lore, Destiny or Alpha. Or about a month and a half.
Now, lets say we use Reward Merits. At a conversion of 100 for Common, 200 for Uncommon, 500 for Rare. Depending on how you go about it, this would be a way, but would take much more time, unless you do a week long W(TF/SF).
How is this for an idea? Does it help the against "horders" of Vanguard or Reward merits? Or just gives two other options, either do a series of Tip Missions as they come, mission arcs, vanguard missions or Mothership raids, etc.
All leading to 4 different ways of getting to most of the Incarnate stuff. But still "Gating" Astral Merits, Empyrean Merits and Very Rare Components to the Incarnate Trials.
Trials Continue to be the fastest method, but with the inclusion of Auras, Emotes and Costume Pieces opened by Astral or Empyrean Merits, they have a way to entice players to do Incarnate Trials. It would seem "fair" to allow something like this alternative path. -
Quote:If you can come up with a similar plan that does not allow for stockpiled tokens to be used, it would be viable.
Ok, I understand your point. But, may I suggest that at this point the majority of people that had a GET IT NOW, have done the grinding the "usual" way. Enough so I feel comfortable calling them a majority.
I would say that for the remaining Solo-ers, those that have a stock pile of certain merits, would then be able to catch up to their peers. And be able to function better, if they did choose to join with other people, but would not be forced to do so.
I only made that post as an example. Maybe a starting point. But after I posted it, and someone replied that is would be 2 hero merits to equal 200 reward merits to buy something like a LotG +7.5%, that I came up with another idea. I'll post it in a sec. -
Bases off of Bills’ trade in idea
Let the different types or merits be able to be traded for Incarnate Components.
Vanguard Merits: 500 per Common Component
A couple of Mothership raids and you could easily get a T1.
Reward Merits: 120 per Uncommon Component.
I chose 120 as I seem to recall a LotG + recharge being about that. So a few days of Weekly Strike forces and you could get enough Uncommon Components
Hero/Villain Merits: 5 or 10 per Rare
Between 10 to 20 days of 0x1 Tip missions yielding a chosen Rare seems reasonable to me.
Now, what does this do for the Solo minded person? Does it give a path to the Incarnates that does not seem to far out of whack?
If you did a combo of trials and WTF, and solo, you would have an easier time all around.
Very Rare Components, Astral Merits and Empyrean Merits would be “gated”, but that seems a fair trade off, for the ability to have choice in how and what a player could do to get most of the Incarnate powers.
How is this for an idea? -
Personally, I find that it isn't so much the costume, but the way the Iconic character is treated and/or portrayed.
Batman: Blue with grey or Black with Grey, Yellow oval or basic Black. Armored cowl or Cloth-like means little. Is he a master detective? A multiple martial arts black belt? Is he the 2nd best escape artist in the world? If we get to see a character that is confident that under almost any situation he can find a way to come out on top. If we are shown all of these traits, then the Icon is there. If it isn't hidden or forgotten about by the writer at the time, the artistic rendering is a little less important to me.
Superman: Should have a humble confidence. He knows he is god-like in power, but understands all the different ways those powers can work together. I think most writers forget that he comes from an once highly advanced race of beings. Super-science and incredible intellect was at least a basic part of the former Kryptonian culture if I am remembering things correctly. (but its been a while since some of the post-Crisis of Infinte Earths, so I am not sure what is cannon) So, not only is he super powerful, but at least as smart as Batman or Luthor. His look doesn't mean as much if the writers do not nail the Gravitas. That sense of awe and wonder the other characters in the world should feel when Superman enters the room.
Essentially, if the core Iconic status and the basic ingredients of the mix are there, if the general colors of the orginal design are there, then I am happy.
I do not really like the way Jim Lee has redisgned most of the Justice League or Teen Titans. But I guess I will wait and see if they nail the character traits before I make a further ruling.
Hopefully my ramble wasn't to hard to understand. -

This is a sample of how i might make a build. I use two accounts. One to do the work, the other as a corspe. Pre-vengence, the defensive numbers are decent enough to manage the Trials with little issue. With vengence, you are soft capped. Making the grind of +4/8 doable.
Just one fire monkeys' opinion! -
well...
Just for fun I made a new fire shield brute, and sidekicked to my claws/fire brute, who has tier 4 ageless, tier 4 Musculature, tier 4 Pyronic Judgement, and tier 3 Reactive.
With +4/8 on a 50 AE map that I created with 5 missions, Including load times and me getting food and a few bios, took me 2 chats with the AE computer, and 2 hours of button mashing to go from level 1 to level 36.
I wasn't looking at ticket caps or money earned.
Just looked at going from level 1 to whatever level I could in two resets of the AE mission arc.
I am going to say 8 to 16 hours, would certainly get me to 50. Probably sooner. -
random thoughts of the day...
could the use of the high collars in the majority of the designs be a defense against the new vampires of the DCnu?
Also, does it bother anyone else that the picture of the Dcnu Frankenstein makes me think of a cheap copy of Hellboy?
The cover pic of Batgirl, It seems to me show a metallic shine to most everything from the neck down, except the gloves, which have what looks like extreme grip design for rope line swinging and climbing..could the reason she is moble be that she is wearing a ironman type suit, and thus could still be wheelchair bound? That could explain the large smile on her face, the freedom of motion.. -
Happy Hatching Day. May you crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women!
