It's hard for me to picture not using Dark Miasma and Necromancy together because they fit thematically and in use so well. But if I couldn't choose Dark Miasma for a Necromancy MM, it would either be Pain or Traps. Pain Domination can pair well with just about any primary. I'd choose Traps merely to blow up Zombie's purely for fun.

Purely by looking at the thread title alone, I believe the answer to your question is no.

Someone was buying lvl 30 Karma: Knockback Protection IO enhancements last night at 70 million. So thank you to whomever purchased one of mine.

Please no more new purple recipes or PvP recipes. Everytime one purple or PvP recipe is marketted, 20 pandas are slaughtered. Please, think of the pandas.

This isn't thread you're looking for... -
If you already have an ample amount of cheap recharge set IO bonuses, Hasten, and the alpha slot, you shouldn't have too much problems getting it perma these days. I am using one Membrane HO in my Widow, its more than enough. Franken-slotting Def/Rech set IO's will work too.

Back when I first got into this game... 33 months ago, I was part of VG with group of friends that I personally knew offline. The small base eventually grew and grew, we got the teleporters up, storage racks, etc. Then after awhile I ended up being the only member left playing, leaving myself my own personal storage bunker/base. Nice to have since there wasn't the function of e-mailing items yet and the CoP was still bugged, (I've never played the original version.)
So when it came time for the free-server switches the choice was the base or a more populated server. I chose the latter. I really thought I would miss the base, but in a few days, I forgot all about it. Then e-mailing items eventually came, and I've never looked back. Having the train lines connect in Paragon City takes away the need for teleporters. I don't miss the base, but for large well know super-groups I imagine it serves as great place to gather for events and TF/Trial functions. I think that the need is dying for a base for smaller super groups, but not large ones. -
...and the Candy Cane chaos goes on, we're all going to get diabetes at this rate.

No luck. I have updated to the newest nVidia driver for my particular video card, uninstalled and reinstalled City of Heroes, lowered the graphical settings such as no shadows and other effects which I could understand what exactly they did. However I still lag on occasion for varying lengths, on average five seconds. I'm not sure what else to do.

It's like Virtue is the adopted parent of all of Victory's lost gamers, myself included... I don't know where I'd be if not for Virtue. Cheers.

Quote:I think now with PvP recipes it's seven groups. After enough time spent in this game, I learned and then relearned what it took to get to the next level of enhancements, moving from common IO's and junk IO sets, to uncommons, to rares, and now purples and Hami-O's. Those PvP IO's are in a group amongst their own in rarity, scarcity, and price on the market. Or in the case PvP IO's... off the market. There are 6 pretty clear cut levels of enhancement:
1) Standard enhancements (TOs, DOs, SOs) (pre I9)
2) Common IOs
3) Frankenslotting junk IOs
4) Uncommon Sets (Thunderstrikes, Crushing Impact, Doctored Wounds)
5) Rare Sets
6) Purple, PvP IOs, and Hamidon Enhancements -
I ended up have to reset the game when I experienced lag exiting a regular tip mission last night. Also getting around in zones and in missions sometimes becomes a hassle now that I'm beginning to lag when playing solo. So I think it's getting worse... So now I have no idea whether it's just because Virtue server is so busy or it's a graphical issue on my part. I played around with some of the graphic settings, like shadows, water effects, or any effects that I could understand what those effects did. No change. Again, I haven't had any trouble like this prior to i19.

Quote:All right I'll try reinstalling CoH first and see how that goes. The last time I downloaded a new driver for my last nVidia video card, I somehow fried the video card and had to buy replacement. So I'm somewhat concerned about downloading new drivers, especially since right now we're entering the holdiays and I'd have to wait after the holidays for tech support, and if the video card breaks longer... Right now I'd rather just have the computer use without CoH at this point, then not having both.Ok so here's how it went down. I went over to my friends house where I backed up all my data including the CoH directory. I then reformatted and reinstalled a regular copy of Win 7 Ult. Great thing is, no bsd's, bad new though the client still crashes. So my friend suggested uninstalling and removing any leftover traces of CoH and reinstalling that from scratch. Went through the entire install phase, logged on and got the "No response from server message." Deleted the .checksum and .prv files, flushed my dns, restarted comp, restarted updater, logged in and now I haven't crashed since. So my suggestion is if you're up to waiting for about an hour try reinstalling the client. My guess is something wasn't over written and some code got garbled during the last patch and if you start fresh everything should be fine.

I'm in the same boat, it began occasionally, these long lag spikes that I only seem to experience in large teams, typically on Task Forces. I would immediately crash upon entering the zone for the Apex Task Force. My whole computer freezes during these lag spikes, leading me to believe that it's a graphical issue. I am not in ultra mode either. However it's possible it may be something else. I am playing on Virtue server, which in the past has had it's problems, it could be that the server is so busy, it could be my connection, or something else. But everything it all began after i19 was released. My video card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250, I purchased it not too long ago, so I really have no clue.

Conversely, I think some of the costume pieces male characters have should be available to female toons. For example, why can't the women have the skull mask from the Magic booster, hmm?

I have a DB/WP Brute, Blinding Feint > Attack Vitals, is a standard attack chain, although I think there is a better one if you're a min/max kind of player. Personally, I think Dual Blades is geared more towards a Scrapper's style IMO. Dual Blades slotted for recharge, allows for quick strikes and lots of crits. After the changes to Fury I don't see much difference in damage anymore when using Blinding Feint, and post-Fury changes, I'm doing noticably less damage for where it was. Just about every Brute primary could do more damage before and after the Devs changed Fury without the need to use powers in a certain order for combos. I really liked Dual Blades before the changes to fury, now I like it less, thus I really don't use my DB Brute much these days.
I'd make it a Scrapper. -
He's like a giant gooey pinata.

Quote:This. This is exactly what I was looking for. When I was queueing attacks I was getting caught especially summoning pets as a MM. Suggestion for Masterminds, don't resummon pets on the ground floor, run back to the top to resummon.Did this yesterday, and it took a long time, but we got it done. Team was three scrappers, 2 controllers, 1 corrupter and 1 defender. No dedicated healers among them.
Things didn't go very well for a while, because the blue patches seemed to send a lot of the team into panic mode and we got very disorganised. Eventually about half the team wanted to quit, but we made a plan, drilled into people's heads that they'd have to KEEP MOVING and it wasn't too long after that we whittled her down.
When it comes to dealing with the patches, positioning and survival are your highest priority.
1) Zoom out your camera as far as it goes.
2) Keep an eye on the current patches.
3) Watch your feet: as soon as you see a blue marker appear, move to open ground.
4) Steer clear - patches appear to be slightly larger than they look.
5) Avoid queueing attacks, or at least stick to quick ones. You need to be ready to move.
6) If you're in a really tight situation, bear in mind that the current patches will fade about a second before the new ones appear. You can move into where they were in that time.
7) If you die, don't try to use a wakie or hang around for a rez. Just hosp. If you load quickly you can be back in under 30 secs.
8) Don't hang out near the door, certainly don't fight there. If a patch drops there warn anyone coming down.
Aside from the patches, BM herself didn't seem much of a threat. All the scrappers on the team were capable of tanking her for extended periods. My softcapped /SR could happily hold her aggro just by spamming shuriken.
For my team, the most important thing was just to stay calm and focus. Once we got over the THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE!!!!! angst, things went pretty smoothly. Yes we died lots but it worked out in the end. And I, personally, had a hell of a good time. -
I didn't say it was hard a Task Force or that it needed any changes.
-
You take a glancing blow from a AoE, not full damage but then sword comes by and finishes you off, you die. You take damage or use an attack, SS or SJ is suppressed for a bit, you take some damage. Granted yes, you should keep moving. But you honestly believe that someone isn't going to take damage?
Constructive, non-one line thoughts please? -
I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread for ideas and strategy for the Apex TF. This is not a guide, I do not presume to have the winning combination a mere two days into the live i19 release. I just felt a thread where people can simply post ideas or share experiences thus far doing this task force would help others do this task force.
First mission was not so bad. The team I was on was composed of 3 Brutes, 1 Scrapper, 1 /Rad Controller, 1 Nrg Blaster, 1 /Dark Mastermind, and a /Storm Defender.
I really don't have any complaints about the first half, Clockwork were no problem and Hydra were efficently destroyed. Warwalkers were not really a problem, we were not making a determined effort to try to keep the Police Drones alive for that badge, which was agreed on before the TF started since most of us were getting our feet with this TF. We certainly had more than enough members to Taunt Warwalkers away from the drones though.
The second half. Wow. Well, after the second ambush of swords atop the building I DC'ed....so yeah. I didn't see how the first Battle Maiden attack went. After logging back in Battle Maiden had already been defeated for the first time. So imagine that part did take too much time. Those endless sword ambushes are the biggest problem to me. I think the best thing to do is to defeat all but one, then focus on Battle Maiden when she returns. If you keep moving those AoE's are not nearly so deadly. You'll probably get caught while mid-casting something. Death is inevitable. With people spread out so much healing others became difficult. Having some many Brutes in our group to pull aggro away from squishy toons helped.
Our team was mostly melee. So we had to adapt fighting Battle Maiden. Once we got the hang of it, our hit-and-run strategy began to pay off, but more ranged attacks would obviously helped.
I think an Empath or Pain Domination Corruptor with Recall Friend is very useful here. Leave the Empath on the top of the building to TP and Rez fallen allies, while safely being out danger would cut the time between dying and getting back in the fight by a lot, and make dying less frustrating. Anyone tried this?
Any other ideas? -
I have to say obtaining the Laureate and Takedown Artist badges could become very challenging for lower level toons. It's sort of a different animal fighting several critters that spawn to your level, as opposed to one big GM and then on top of that having a timer. I was a bit surpised that among Minion, Lieutenant, and Boss level foes there were also Elite Bosses and in the case of the Syndicate Takedown event I took part in there were several Archvillains.
It could just be the number and rank of the spawns depend on how many players show up for the event, which would make sense. Last night I was part of teams, that including myself, had several level 50's allowing us to plow through everything. Then if you include the clock factor ticking down on you. It's a frantic race to get each task finished.
These were really fun to do.I definately want to see more stuff like this.

This is good news, I've been complaining about this for a while. Since my badger's a Mastermind the Max HP Bonuses, Defensive mode, and my pets simply taking the most of the damage for me has really made the task of gaining credit for the damage taken acheivement badges near impossible.

I got into this game when a freind of mine showed it to me. We had a small villain group and a base on Victory server, along with two of his buddies that I personally did not know very well. Alas the two I did not know particularly have stopped playing this game, my friend still plays occasionally devoting his time to other MMO's and his wife. So I moved my toons to higher population server, Virtue, about a year or year and a half ago.
