Quote:Unfortunately, at the moment, Mad's left the game (he finally got pissed off), so he won't be answering you. He only left about two months ago, though.I found this in some old bookmarks:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?k...X_BMKHMw&gid=0
It's the prettiest spreadsheet I've ever seen on base info, but it's got the old values for everything. Would MadScientist be willing to update it, or willing to share edit permissions so that others can? I apologize for any ignorance I show in this post...I've been gone from the game for quite some time, and this is my first day back on the forums.
Thanks for any info! (and let me know if the URL doesn't work)
I forgot to send him the spreadsheet when we were compiling the information so he could update the prices, and he forgot to give me editing permissions. Then everything got compiled elsewhere, and I think we just lost track of it all. -
So on night 2, Whimpitron is mostly just confused, and decides to stick with night 3's plan anyway.
Right. :P -
Quote:There's other threads that address this in the forum, so I'll try and summarize:So I was AFK damage farming a bit and came back home and played the same character. I played for about an hour and I did NOT LEVEL AT ALL or anything of that nature. I go back to farm damage (For my Born in Battle accolade) and now the damage meter does not update.
What is going on? How do I fix it?
Edit: I should also note I am using the EXACT SAME MISSION. Its a newspaper mission in St. Martial.
First, the stupid question: You're sure you weren't in the AE, right?
Second, if you have any accolades (or possibly any other sorts of buffs) that raises your HP above the BASE LEVEL (so you have 225 BASE HP + 100 BONUS HP), any damage you take first takes off the bonus HP and (stupidly) that doesn't count toward the badge.
So, using Whimpitron up there (must be a petless MM):
- He sets up an overnight. The guy he goes up against does 98 points of damage each hit. Absolutely NO work on the badge is done. Whimpitron pouts.
- Next night, he finds a different guy, and gets 212 points of damage each hit! Whimpitron is somewhat disturbed to discover that only 112 points of it counts, but hey, it's damage.
- Third night, Whimpitron figures he'll find someone who does 220 points of damage. He manages to make it through the night without dying, and makes much badge progress. Life is good.
Edited to add: You possibly, while playing, added a set enhancement that changed your bonus HP, which would have made that specific mission go from "useful" to "aw, crap." -

Quote:Oddly enough, I had previously set the message editor interface to enhanced. I'm replying, in fact, with the enhanced editor interface.Quote:Quote:I need to figure out how to post a link as text on this new forum. Oh well.
Remove the spaces inside the brackets, those are just to keep the stupid system from automatically trying to convert the above to a link (the code /code doesn't work in this case). You have to do it by hand on this board - it doesn't provide a nifty shortcut like the old one did.
And when I click on the insert link button, I get a form to fill in the link. Once the form is filled in, and "okay" is clicked, the link is inserted, but no form or box is provided to insert text for the link - the link is just placed into the reply.
Now, I happen to be using Firefox. There might remotely be a different option under IE. Regardless, however, I suggest you look under "insert link" in your darling FAQ and see what you come up with for an answer (hint: there isn't one).
Perhaps the standard editor actually does provide a text box, where the enhanced does not. I cannot answer that.

It would seem even Beta Testers can't get in, based on the last comment.

Quote:Well, it's hard for me to say much of anything, since I can't actually seem to find a back issue of the EU City Scoop to even look at from the last two months. My understanding was that the EU version was going to be a monthly publication, with the first issue coming out sometime in late April or early May (ETA: My search-fu is terrible).i'd like to know what you guys think of CityScoop EU?
good idea? bad idea?
should or shouldn't we?
I not going to say it's a bad idea to keep the EU version separate, if only because that'd seem awfully self-serving. From prior discussions with him, however, I don't believe either Snow_Globe or I (the editors-in-chief of the US CS) quite understand why the EU CS leader is desirous of keeping it separate.
I think both Snow_Globe and I would welcome any EU contributors who wanted to talk with us - we're already international, since we've got members from Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and (of course) the US.
Either way, the new boards are... voracious... when it comes to eating the layout for the US Scoop (as the back issues can attest; they didn't look that bad when they were published!) and we're trying to figure out a solution before we publish the issue we presently have proofed and pending layout. If the EU Scoop chooses to stay separate, we're more than happy to talk things over with their folks and see if together we can come up with a solution.
Anyone interested in the US Scoop is welcome to PM me (Cende) with comments and questions. You may also mail Snow_Globe, but he's a little swamped with school right now, so I try not to volunteer him much. -
Quote:I doubt you can set the spawns for LESS members than you actually have - if you have 8 people on your team, I doubt you can set the spawn rate for 3 or 4 people and run through that way. From the I16 news alert:
What I am wondering is the opposite case - Will "Master" badges become meaningless? Sure you would still have to fight the AVs in the missions (since I assume they do not spawn dynamically), but all the other spawns do. Being able to set the level of the spawns down 3-4 or more levels will make speeding through the TF much easier. Hopefully they will set a requirement for the "Master" badges that they must be run with difficulty "set to par."
I suspect it'll be something like:
- Mission chosen
- Mission difficulty set based on holder's setting
- Mission size set based on maximum of either holder's setting or team size, whichever is GREATER, not to exceed 8.
- Mission spawns
- Mission chosen

Quote:Okay, folks,I realize you are new to the US forums, however, the "Base Building Community" has been asking for many, many items and upgrades to bases for 2-3 years now.
We're all builders here, together. None of that "you're new here, aren't you?"
GH, someone could easily come back and say that you're new to the EU forums, they've been just as polite on their base builder forums and they've never had an issue, you know.
"Exploits" was not meant in a bad way in this particular thread title, although I think it was a bit of a mistake to use it. It leads to too many misunderstandings. -
Quote:To get stacked quotes, you have to go through and choose multiquote for every single post you want in the stack, then quote on the last one. They posted stating that they wanted the forums up and running first; then add the shiny stuff (like the dev digest etc.) They will be updated eventually.
(guess quotes don't stack)
You can then proceed to have them one after another, or you can move the quote tags around so that they're nested (which can sometimes be useful). -

When you go into the forum you want to read, at the top of the forum is the banner with Forum Tools and Search This Forum tabs. Click on Forum Tools, then under that, click on Subscribe to this Forum (you can also subscribe to any thread in the same way).
When you log in, go to the User CP link from the top banner. That'll take you to your control panel - all your forums will be listed right there. Down the side will be the controls for PMs and options; at the bottom will be the subscribed threads.
A difficult way to do it in my opinion as well.
Ah well, I was afraid this would be my only option.
At least it is one of the few things I've found so far that I don't like on the new vBulletin forums.
Yeah, I'm not all that thrilled with it, either. For one thing, the only way to get to the calendar is through a direct forum link - can't subscribe to it and there's no quick link.
Could you try bookmarking the UCP, perhaps?
I only read a handful of the forums, and for time-management reasons, I really need to limit the ones I look at (if it's written, I'll read it - not seeing it is one of the few ways I have of defeating that. I could spend all day reading these forums, and I'm not paid to do that). This isn't one of the best options there is, but at least it is an option.
There's a couple of things I don't like so far. On the up side, the editor's better.
The Scoop's having fits, though. -
Quote:Yes, although it took me damn near forever to find it, and it's not much fun. Also not as intuitive.I "think" what they are looking for, as I am, is the Favorite Forum toggle that UBB had that would allow you to customize what you saw on your front page. When you wanted to see the rest of the forums you had to click a link to show all forums.
For example, for the longest I had Justice Server, Announcements, HeroCon, Developer's Corner, Technical Issues and Bugs, and The Training Room (Test Server) set as Favorite Forums so that I didn't have to see all of the other servers that I wasn't interested in. Occaisionally I'd add a new Favorite (much as I recently added the Technical Issues and Bugs section or various Beta boards as needed) but mostly I only saw the forums that I wanted to see.
Is there a way to set this in vBulletin?

The Taurus has been replaced by the Fusion. Focus is equivalent to the Sunfire. Fusion's a nice car, though, especially the '09 package.
Anyway, yeah. When you want to get bigger, you start looking at replacing the Oversight Center and the Combo Unit with a Energy Room, a Control Room, a basic generator and the first tier control. You're going to run into control issues well before you run into energy issues, btw, so pay attention there - that's your upgrade bottleneck.
Bill's right, the first step is to add in your toss-away alts, up to the first 15. You'll need about 450k to get over that first hurdle (including the amount you're refunded for the oversight room and the combo unit), so if you've got 100k saved up, you're most of the way there already, once you've got your alts in.
On the up side - even though that first step's a real doozy, once you're over it, you're done. Control is your steep upgrade path, but everything else comes in pretty cheap - even the rooms tend to be 50k or less for gradual upgrades. One night of play will get you a teleporter and pads, or some decorations.
Eventually, you'll even be able to get rid of those useless alts.
Good luck! -
Well, what happens when you have two people working on the base at once? Since these are not active changes to the base at the time you're making them, it could be possible, and if you've got an *offline* version (which is entirely like the MA), it's entirely likely to happen.
You and I both decide that our base is bland, boring, and badly organized. I come in first, and I'm working on it. I've put in an hour and a half. You come in a little later, and you're putting in two hours. I finish before you - having both started and finished before you - save and apply my changes. I'm happy.
What happens next? Do my changes get uploaded to your version, so you can see that what you WERE working on is no longer the most recent set? How about when you save? Do you overwrite my changes, making my work useless? Does it toss an error at you, saying your file is no longer valid, and your changes are now useless?
Please note, I'm not saying you're wrong. I'd very much like exactly what you're proposing in fact - I've also worked with a CAD program in the past, and just about anything would be easier than what we've actually got. I'm just pointing out that there are some very serious concerns that have to be addressed when looking at this sort of system, and that's at least part of the reason, most likely, that we don't have more than what we've got. Well, that, and the fact that I don't have the liveliest respect for the coders of CoX. -
[ QUOTE ]
My major pet peeve is having to ensure correct pathing at all times.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not arguing with most of the rest of what you're saying, but pathing is no longer an issue for items.
The only requirement for pathing is that rooms actually be connected, and that's just so nobody's trapped.
Keep in mind that the one problem with requiring a save is when someone crashes out of the game for whatever reason - where do you save? Do you go back to the last "safe" spot and undo all the work? Do you put in temporary links? As long as *room pathing* is required, that's a non-issue. When you remove the room pathing requirement, you have to consider these things.
All things considered, requiring room pathing is less of a hassle than losing a few hours of work because just before you were going to reconnect all the rooms together, you crashed due to a power outage. -
It is possible to ask for help on the basebuildersinc. channel - if someone's on at the same time as you are, they'll often pop on an unaffiliated (often disposable) character long enough to help you get your spares into your group.

Dunno, but I always check my spam folder before doing anything with it, and it's never gone there. I have NC's mail set to deliver into a particular folder, but it hasn't been there either.
[/ QUOTE ]
Any chance your ISP is screening it right out to the bit bucket?
The reason I'm asking this is because every so often, my mail server gets reported as a spam server (it's a hosting server, and they're very quick to take down spammers, but too many people don't report to the hosts, just to the blacklist sites). When it's blacklisted, quite a few of the people I know absolutely cannot receive e-mail from me, even though they can the rest of the time, and I have to (at least temporarily) switch to my gmail account. My renters, on the other hand, cannot ever receiver email from my principal account, and must always get it from gmail (which is annoying in the extreme).
It's not that the email I send to them gets dropped into their spam folders, it's that the ISP just flat out doesn't send it through. Because the host I'm sending from is listed on one or more blacklisting site, the email is dropped quietly by the receiving ISP, with no notification to anyone, me or the recipient, that it's going bye-bye.
It would not surprise me at all to find out that the mailing list site that NCSoft is using gets regularly blacklisted. If that's the case, is it possible that the people who are not getting the email are not getting it because their *ISP* is dropping this "Scam spam" email before it ever reaches the point where the recipients filters can look at it? -

There was one largish email sent out on 7/16 at about noon.
The topics included were:
[*]Head Topic: Issue 16, Power Spectrum announcement[*]Going Rogue update[*]Double XP announcement (no clear indication of reactivation weekend)[*]Super Booster III now available announcement[*]City of Heroes "Summer Tour" announcement - SDCC, PAX and HeroCon info[*]Miscellaneous links and help.
No Ritki announcement was sent.
The email was sent from: newsletter@ncsoft.com as the sending address.
It was actually received from: newsletter.newzyouwant.com (rs1.netatlantic.com [69.25.195.202])
Thunderbird had to be informed that no, it was not a scam.
[/ QUOTE ]
I didn't get this one. Yes, I'm signed up to receive newsletters from NCSoft. Yes, my correct e-mail address is listed in my account. All known NCSoft e-mail addresses are on my white list. The newzyouwant.com address is on my white list, too, because I'd read that the original Going Rogue e-mails came from that address. (But I didn't get those either.) Besides that, I regularly check my e-mail's spam folder before deleting it anyway.
I'm not getting some NCSoft e-mails, and there's no reason on my end for why that's happening.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, that's why I included the info, just in case anyone was missing the header info.
However, is it possible that your ISP is being .... "helpful" and screening this "scam" email?
Not that I'm trying to shield NCSoft, mind, but it's just terribly strange that you're not getting it and I am. I think I started after you, and I'm almost positive I started after Zek.
Heck, that brings up a thought. What if the people who aren't getting it are all people +55 months? (I know Kendaer got the mail, and he's at 54). -

Other things that will be announced soon:
4) The final 3 Star Wars movies announced
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, based on the newsletters I get semi-randomly, I think the final 3 Star Wars movies got turned into books. Lucas said something about leaving it for his son to do, and his son said something about "when hell freezes over." -
That'd be us. The image is presently unavailable, due to a revamp I'm doing on the website. I'll try and have that fixed soon and post it up.
There was an issue with choosing which of the locations to go to. If you weren't absolutely careful with how the overlapping was done, then either only two beacons would attach at all or only the center stone would work. It was aggravating. Also, there was a considerable amount of flicker (although it looked oddly appropriate in this case). -
I so don't see this thread going anyplace good.
