Quote:Not that I'm as good as a bunch of the people posting in this thread! But it looks good to me, based on the research I've been doing to rebuild one of the computers here. You'll need to go to 64-bit in order to take advantage of all that memory. Thanks, FX. Always nice coming home.
If you have a second, does this look acceptable to pull the trigger on? Or do you have better choices in mind? Uggh... guess I'll need to actually purchase Win7 with it as well. Pro OEM 1-pack should do the trick, yea?
And yes, the OEM should do fine. Next time I have to ... "upgrade"... I'll probably wind up getting a 10-license pack of the OEM version.
I have video card envy. -
You CAN go up to 20k. However! That 20k seems to include all of the salvage in your racks, as well.
We've long since noticed that at about 14,500+ items, the base vanishes into never-never land, and the GMs have to restore it from backup (which makes them grumpy). Therefore, we recommend stopping at about 12,000 - 14,000 objects.
Nevermind that you can't get 6,000 items into storage from your base, but there seems to be an overhead cost.
Does that help ? -
If this is still available toward the end of the week, I'm in (redside Triumph).
I just have to finish getting up over 100M. -
"buy" slots via the store until you got an open one (no, Test does not charge your card).
We all understand, of course, that this is for when Beta goes Open. -
Quote:I'm sorry, but by now they could have easily said the target date for pre-orders and yet . . . nothing.
Pre orders have been announced in a couple of gaming webzines as March 2nd. What's in it has yet to be announced, but that's probably either next week or the week after.
Quote:especially for the Demon MM. The Test Server has been abuzz for a while now, they should have some good shots for us.
Quote:3- an explanation of why the release of GR has been move to the 3rd quarter of 2010 would be nice.
Your rant is one of the reasons they so rarely tell us the target goals, and demands like the one you made is less likely to get us information, not more likely.
Your $15 gets you into the servers, PERIOD. It doesn't entitle you or me - or even Arcanaville, Arbiter Fabulous, and Samuraiko - to anything else. -
Quote:That's it. That's the one I was thinking of. It was just 6 of them set into a circle pattern then?
Yeah. Arrange them so that one of the points is inward (there's a front "flat" side and a pointed "back" side which - if you pay attention - you can distinguish. It works best with the pointed back side inward). There's a little overlapping to be done, but not much. Mostly, you'll want steady hands or it'll be frustrating. -
First, make sure you have teleporter rooms (the 2x2 will hold 2 teleporters & 4 beacons. This is a decent starting point).
1. Decide if you want to have arcane or tech teleporters (the tech beacons are easier to read, just FYI).
2. Put down a Basic Workbench in your work room from either the Tech Workroom tab (for tech teleporters) or the Arcane Workroom tab (for arcane teleporters).
3. Make sure "hide recipes missing ingredients" and "hide unowned recipies" (in the bottom right corner) are turned off.
4. Open up the "transportation" (could be "teleport") section.
5. Look at the 3 recipes displayed. Write down the salvage you need for them.
6. Determine how many teleporters you want. Look through your racks and vaults to see if you have any of the salvage. Buy enough salvage from the market (or turn in Architect tickets) to make up the difference.
7. Go back to the Workbench and create the teleporters.
8. Go to the entry room. Click on "place personal item". Place the teleporters in the room where they will go. Don't worry about placing them neatly. Once they're placed, click "exit".
9. Go into the base editor. Sell back the Workbench (so you don't get charged rent on it; you WILL get back the prestige). Go to the teleporter room and place the porters where you want them.
10. Go to the "teleport" or "transportation" (I forget which it is) of either Arcane or Tech, depending on which type of porter you have, and place the beacons you want to have on the wall next to the teleporter. You may have 2 beacons per teleporter (please note: the 1x2 transport room will only allow 1 beacon to be placed. Don't bother with this one unless you're short on prestige).
11. Check your power and control bars to make sure you have enough power and control for these. If you don't.... that's a different conversation (the oversight power & control is sufficient to run 2 beacons and 1 porter + medical. More than that, you need power & control rooms and items).
12. Get out of edit mode, and use your new teleporters.
---
To check which beacons you have, go to your Badges list, open up "Exploration" and click on "Supergroup Badges". Any badge you have in there will give you a beacon to that area. If you do not have any, or do not have the one you want:
1. Go to the area in question.
2. Make sure you are in Supergroup Mode.
3. Go to each badge in the zone and land on it (you will NOT get notification).
4. When you have hit all the badges in the zone, you will get a "Congratulations!" notice, and the supergroup will have the beacon for that zone.

If you need additional answers, please post. Also remember to join the BaseBuildersInc. (remember the . at the end!) channel for more in-game, on the spot help. -
Talek posted a shot of the 6-in-a-circle that he did for Unbidden (from above, it looks like a flower). However, while we still have that picture, it's currently... in an unknown location.
However, if you want to see the thing in person, let me know. It's blue side Triumph. -
Quote:This is WAI. If the mission holder has their numbers set to above the number of people in the group, it'll go up to the mission holder's difficulty level. Also, it looks like the mish diff is now set to the mish holder's level, not the team leader's - AND everyone is SK'd to the mish holder's level
Also, yes, ever since super side kicking came out, everyone is SK'd to the mission holder's level.
Both of these are not news. -
Hey, glad you posted... I didn't look around as much as I could have when I dropped off those planes for you, because I wound up having to leave.
Believe me, folks... it's impressive to see this base up close. -

It's not hard at all - anyone can play with lower level players, and that counts for the mentoring badge. I had it in my SG before I was level 15.
Any time you spend as team leader with lower level players, you earn time on the mentoring badge. Just make sure you're in supergroup mode.
And now that you've been answered, PLEASE stop asking the same question. -
Quote:The "cubicle" out of "other furniture" acts as a portable wall. Overlap it with the porters such that the wall of the cubicle lines up with where you want to place the beacon, and there you go.That's neat how you overlapped the pads. But how did you get the beacons to mount directly to the pads instead of the wall?
Be careful when selecting the cubicle to remove it, however. -
Quote:As soon as you get all badges while in SG mode, yes.I do have one question about the Teleporter Beacons. AFAICT, the beacons are available as soon as you get all the exploration badges from a map, and aren't crafted. Is there a way to change where in the map it sends you? In a conversation with the previous leader (before leaving), I was led to believe that the destination point is selectable.
Important distinction.
However, the previous leader (mistakenly) mislead you. Unfortunately, you're stuck with the location the teleporter sends you.
If you use the Base Teleporter Power (from vet rewards or monitor duty) to go to the base, you'll return to the place you where when you used it upon leaving by the main entrance.
If you come in through a Base Portal, you'll return to the same Base Portal if you leave through the main entrance.
Otherwise, it's pretty much fixed.
There is some indication that in SOME locations that don't have porters (Shadow Shard, Terra Volta, Cim) if you go to the base to rez, when you go back out through the main entrance you'll wind up at or near the mission door. However, I'm not sure that's currently confirmed. -
Make sure you have the Super Computer badge in the Achievements section of your Supergroup Badge Listing. If you don't have it, it's the one for 5 hours of mentoring while in SG mode.
Once you've got it, the computer unlocks. -

Quote:Ok, here:you misunderstood my post,I am the first, last and only member of my SG/VG,did it all on my own.,if i were to lose that due to a server merger, i would be not happy.
The servers Are Not Merging. You Will Not Lose your supergroup.
ok?
Don't borrow trouble. Worry about the whole SG issue in five or ten years, when they actually consider merging or closing servers. Not now. -
While it might be nice, please be aware that petitioning is against the forum rules. I suggest rephrasing your request to just be a suggestion.

Quote:It seems to happen often enough that it's not rare, but I wouldn't say it's all the way up to common. But a question first: Is inheriting a SG (+base) rare, uncommon, or does it actually happen fairly frequently?
I suggest joining the BaseBuildersInc. channel, if you're interested in doing it yourself and just getting the occasional bits of help. That way, whenever you're specifically in need, you can immediately ask. -

They can't join SGs. At least, in theory.
Quote:If yes, then just create a second trial account and get a character up to level 10, use that character to create the actual SG. -

Well, Talek's and my anniversary has come (and gone!) and we're finally organizing our mothership raid. We're inviting anyone from Triumph to come and join the raid, although we strongly suggest that you're at least level 35 (lower than that, you might not get a team).
When: Friday, January 8th at 7:00 pm Pacific
Where: The top of the Vanguard base, Rikti War Zone
Contact: @Cende (Ms. Sturm) or @Talek (Invisible Imp)
We have a Teamspeak 2 server; I'll see if we can open it up for at least the team leaders.
Normally, this would happen in mid-December, but this year, the only time we had available was eaten by the Mr. & Mrs. Paragon City / Rogue Islands contest (and congrats to the winners). We're hoping that we can move it back to December next year.
Once again, Talek and I would like to thank Triumph for being a friendly, energetic server that's been very kind to us. -
Quote:This actually got changed sometime last year, so that the lowest load servers are on the TOP, directly under the server you last played. The servers with the highest level of activity are listed at the top of the server list, while the lowest activity servers are listed at the bottom. (After you've already selected a server, the last server you've played on is moved to the top of the list and the rest of the servers are listed below it by traffic volume.)
So if you choose Virtue or Freedom (knowing that they're going to be pretty high) and then back out to look at the server list, Triumph is usually between the top (just under the server you temp-chose) and about four down (we vary). Most recently, I've only seen it at the top once or twice; I usually see at it two or three.
I have no idea what it'll look like after the transfers are all over, but that's how it's been up until now.
In general, I suspect an awful lot of the server is either hiding or in missions, so people looking for others aren't going to see folks just standing around (thank god). When I *do* want to team outside of my SG, I don't usually have a problem finding someone, and I know the last couple of impromptu MS raids turned out three and a fraction teams.
We're fine. We never have server lockouts on 2XP weekends, we get raids and TFs together without issue, and if people are proactive, teams are readily available.
