Endurance, endurance, that has always been the main problem with my spines/dark scrapper. Now with i19 i'm thinking about going backwards, and... dropping physical perfection, to grab some defense instead. I'm currently running with that build:

I tried a bit but gonna wait for the incarnate slot and full info to make mine. I'm pretty confident i can find a way to make a S/L soft capped spines/dark with 90% recharge, hasten, good endurance AND cloak of fear... Though i'll probably have to use the incarnate slot for that, atm i miss 0,5% def and a lot of endurance. A global bonus to either damage and/or endurance would help a lot to save some slots and maybe even bring back energy torrent in the build.
And that would be godly. I'm more excited about i19 than the whole GR stuff -
/dark for controllers is about the only thing i REALLY want to see proliferated. Waiting for it for years now. Illusion for dominators would be great too.
-
I don't know what to say. That's just awesome news. It just opens so many options with the lesser used power pools now that we're not stuck with the mandatory fitness.
-
15 weeks ago i logged my grav/empathy controller that i have not played for like 1 year, join a random rikti mission group with two players... 1hr later i look at the inventory, got an Apocalypse triple. Whew. I began to type that i got a good drop and bam... i looted another Apocalypse triple at the time i was typing.
I totally didn't expect to make 900mill in one hour helping someone on a low setting as well. So anything can happen, really -
I'd say level the spines/dark scrapper. My main farmer is spines/dark and i totally love that character, i don't think anything can go much faster though elec/shield and fire/kin can probably do a little bit better, it's not significant enough to make up for the fun of it
-
They're Epic archetypes in the sense of epic fail, actually.
That's one of the things i really don't understand when it comes to the design choices. Whole point of the game is to have high customization, variety and freedom, and a lot of the recent dev efforts have gone that way.
On the other hand, we're given epic archetypes who feel more like a common MMO character than a coh one, let's see:
-neither get any kind of power customization
-neither get to enjoy any kind of power proliferation, not even patron/epic pools
-they have a lot of restrictions when it comes to costume. Kheldians are stuck with a gameplay forcing them to turn into basic NPC models most of the time, crabs are stuck with the bacpack, other VEAT have poor weapon customization, and their special costumes, instead of being a "plus" lock them into looking all the sames as you can't mix them up with normal costumes
-while they have a high amount of powers, some of them are forced or restricted, and they can't really access a variety of playstyles like other archetypes do
On top of that the kheldians are a joke, while the VEATs at least feel like a useful addition to a team and an efficient archetype.
To make them truely "epic", what would be needed imo:
-power customization
-patron/epic pools proliferation
-allow VEAT costume parts to be used in normal costumes
-enable more weapon options for them
-make human form kheldian a viable playstyle
-customizable forms for kheldian which would be a unique ability and make them actually stand out
-rework some of the kheldian powers so they can be somewhat competitive and interesting rather than gathering all the downsides of other archetypes and mix them up in a single character
It's not a matter of "power" or efficiency (though kheldians really suck) but a matter of what makes CoX a good game: options, variety, customization. And oddly enough, the famous "epic" archetypes are totally lacking the qualities of this game, on top of being ignored by the recent changes. -
I only use the second build for leveling purpose (i make a first build for leveling, then switch to the second build at around lvl 30 once i start putting some IOs in there, and never look back). It's pretty much a free respec and nothing more.
I play on a single server so i have 16 characters, 12 of them being lvl 50s (and about 5 lvl 50s deleted to make room, none of them used 2nd build either).
I'd rather have stacking free respecs over the issues, than a 2nd one, really. -
I have a lvl 50 widow sitting unplayed for like 2 years, waiting for the day i can bring her hero side as i don't play villain anymore. Now when trying to make her build i'm quite stuck with the attack chain, and since i plan to try a fortunata build maybe, i was wondering what are the best chains available for both ? I'm looking for making a good build with soft cap and high recharge, but i just have no idea how the attacks blend together.
When i was playing her i remember endurance being a major issue, as well as me spaming whatever was up, pretty muchSo i'm a bit confused especially as the large variety of attacks makes it hard to find the pattern.
Thanks in advance -
Not sure if you meant not repeating the same combination of powerset or not using the powersets again at all. First thing i think with that name is demon/storm MM. It fits both the idea of creating chaos (summoning demon) as well as spreading chaos on the battlefield (storm).
Or just make a SS/whatever brute/tank and name it K-O creator -
And meanwhile on the french server we're still in the green even at prime time
WTB server list merging... -
Mmmh that's pretty much what i expected. For the other pets it shouldn't be a problem, planned build is ill/storm and all pets are not targetable, exception for the phantasm but he usually doesn't take much damage. I'll just give it a try i think, the AoE part looks interesting enough at least.
-
I can see how you feel. Back then when i was a beginner i always felt bad when seeing all the vets power, now there's even more, and while i'm a 1,5 years vet and i have a lot of powers already, i know there's still a lot more i'm missing and i kinda feel it's weird to have such difference on starter powers. But most of them are just QoL stuff anyway, the only ones that really make a difference are the attack ones. They really help to fill the lowbie attack chains or have some "big hitter" once in a while instead of spaming brawl and a lvl 1 power.
-
Hello dominators
Since we get the patron pools hero side i think i'll get more detailled answers here even if it's for a controller. I was thinking about adding the mu pet to several of my builds, mainly for the healing he can do that seems perfect to replace aid self for some builds (i don't like to rely on random inspirations drops and to be without a way to heal myself).
So, how good is he ? Is it worth slotting him for that ? Can i count on him to keep me alive or does he heal only when he feels like it, as dumb as a pet can be, i guess it would be whenever i'm already full or when i run out of the mission
I'm not too worried about keeping him alive, more about him keeping ME alive, heh. So any info about that pet would be appreciated, as going villain, then coming back, and blow two respecs is a bit too much for a "test".
Thanks in advance -
The 3sec animation makes it a bit long to cast during a melee but, i see it as an "alpha eater" for any of my /dark characters. Usually i die in the first 10sec of a fight, if i don't, everything is dead
So using that before jumping in could make a huge difference.
I'm pondering if it could even allow some AV soloing for whatever/dark. It makes me want to play some older characters again, too.
Now the question would be, what offensive set gets the most benefit out of it ? I'm thinking a set with a natural gap in the best attack chain, able to deal some high dps even with a 3sec "hole", while allowing for high recharge slotting to get the most uptime on Shadow meld, but which one ?
For the alignement change, i don't see that as a big hurdle. 2 days to vigilante, 2 days to villain, then 4 days to come back. And the patron storyarc on a low setting can probably be rushed in a very short time. Looks totally worth it. -
So, it seems we'll get the stalker Shadow meld with Patron pools proliferation, unless i totally misunderstood what i read.
What are your thoughts on this power, and does it work as well as it looks like ? Slotted, a 15sec 30% defense buff that can be up every 25sec with good recharge slotting looks borderline overpoweredAny scrapper with 15% def (very easily doable) can be soft capped for a while with that power alone, and it doesn't seem to cost much endurance.
I sure plan to consider it for my spines/dark, it might be that "magic power" to solve my survivability issues in big fights. What uses do you foresee for this ? Anyone else thinking it's the best epic/patron power along with Physical perfection ? -
Quote:What a jerk. And what an incompetent Scrapper. When i'm playing a Scrapper my whole goal is to find the biggest, nastiest or most dangerous to the rest of the team
Depends on the playstyle and spec. I do the opposite most of the time as i favor AoE damage rather than ST. I just unload the AoEs in the pack, kill the remaining lieuts then hope the tank will move to the next spawn so i can do more AoE rather than end up hitting a boss with my lousy ST damage. And most of the time if the difficulty is low (like on most TFs i do) and the tank is slow (most are) then i just run to next spawn as soon as BU is up.
Only time i stay for one or two mobs alive is when the difficulty is high enough we can't steamroll it, or there's the AV or something important enough to stay. If 6 or 7 peoples can't manage one or two bosses and the scrappers are supposed to tank them then something is wrong and not only about the scrappers behaviour. And i'm not build for survival so if they rely on me to tank, then we most likely won't do the TF at all
That said, considering the answer you got they probably were not very clever anyway. Whenever i do that and see someone is not happy with (usually the tank complaining) i slow down and explain or just leave if it's not a tf. There's no point going SLOWER with a group than i would do solo. What was not inappropriate imo was not the fact they were rushing but the fact they didn't communicate enough about it to make sure everyone was prepared and ready for it. -
That's an awesome build Myriad
When i saw it i thought it was some really good basis for what i'd want so i tweaked it a bit and got that:
Code:80% rech, 46% melee defense, 1757 hp and no gimped attacks. Endurance should be manageable, the net recovery is pretty much what i have with my current build.| Copy & Paste this data into Mids' Hero Designer to view the build | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;1417;719;1438;HEX;| |78DA9D935B4F134114C767E9C252BAA52DB4DC2F0581422F5B8A57406354345129A| |9427850A05961A48DB56D764B226F7E009F34D127A312A8FA118C1F4D713D9769E3| |B39BF6FC76CEFCFF33276766F3AFD64C215EDF145AEF9D8AEDBAC5CD7DC7AED7A56| |36CD88D23C7AE98F963A76C1FC4B74A35A76A0821622D45312F2B525A8F8ECA958A| |3BDACEAEC9E7B2EA4A6BCD765E146F392F6B4EE47EB5241D596D58AD17B350AB55A| |C7BE54655BA2E0FD6A55D2F570F43ADC18174DC52B91E54CAC35203662377EBE57D| |EB76EDE0B898B7DD86748E87A0A205F87FC2D2E8F13AC5134042743C65EC10F45DC| |61EA1AB48584097A65C4978C989AE14A13BCDC8107A2C4696F0D950267069373A30| |655E672C137A5718AB84B0474882CBA7F6F2616A5C84850FD1774EA3BE3FA48BFE2| |24CFC267C0157A7DAABF32BA4A222DAA4998133C67742E694F18D70022E43B98C1C| |A5861619166124C3C812C64E04220D163F57A8F90735AC696C88D00533019E11817| |9120F402AA8C4C17381AA8918B5C78099909A096D6BD8E78907840CCC44348DCA8A| |1428157FC8C893756A9DB141C8F5517BBAC1D5CFEBF9FADF52C153EF0817DE333E1| |04E4117530D8E71CFE3D86010704B67CE19DCD9196E770A5C83CA35C8C73CC73761| |8E6F42860F3DCB1722CB17E20C5CC3AAC1C3BCFA1C2F9BE04D12BC7A82EB58E03A2| |C708DF25E1DA357013A5CDE16B97911908CABE68D732AA9144D989AE43DF5C925BE| |5317195708E94B8CCB040DE4D32C17D31E3C22079959BAB99E984DD129FA2035AF4| |4F34B54A40EA9942A32A5B64E73255935DC04A1A55C162FD40C0AB1A85C8B7C4839| |3E965C9C04637AFB03851F96B3FE6FC64FDA82DEFEB28446A249BDFD857AFEB0C03| |E0AF6FFD7F3C36C2DE77FDC03710B430182B68D6F3B187671B8876F36BE3DC3B08F| |43EFA7D9AA38740DEB5AC6B0826115430CEA136F506904200430981882187A31843| |08431F46318C1F01183F7176861F925| |-------------------------------------------------------------------|
Now i'm really considering something like that as a second build, though not fitting Hasten in there makes me sad. Going back to the crap slotting in Impale would be enough to put Hasten instead of maneuvers but i wouldn't be happy with lower ST damage and lower AoE compared to my current build.
I wonder if it's really worth it and if the survivability is awesome enough to make up for the loss of AoE dmg, as i currently run with 105% global rech + hasten and energy torrent. -
Hard to say since the prices change so much but my main character is probably worth 4, maybe 5 billions or something like that, though i bought a lot with merits and tickets when the prices were crazy in the old AE days. Still probably not as much as most out there, no pvp IO and not a ton of respecs or changes.

I'm lazy so i just did a single run on the map, it took 13min30 and based on my experience what i got is a fairly good average sample so i'll just multiply by 4 to make it a "one hour run".
Character: Gwandoya (spines/dark scrapper)
Settings: +2/x8/No bosses/No AVs
Mission: Demon farm from Harvey Maylor
Influence from Kills: 5.368.635 *4 would be 21.474.540
Influence from Drops: 835.175 *4 would be 3.340.700
Total influence gained: 6.203.810 *4 would be 24.815.240
Final time would be (let's round up to 14mn): 14*4 = 56Min, leaves some margin of error
I know it's not exactly how you asked it but i don't feel like doing one hour of rush and a lot of maths so better than nothing hopefully. I'm fairly confident i can do a slightly better average than that as i wasted half a minute here and there to answer some chat or something, and i think i got a slightly low average. I'll post more accurate data if i ever get motivated for one hour like that. -
I can't say for Thunderstrike as i don't play elec melee but, i tend to like the force feedback proc in an aoe attack i use every 10sec or more, typically a cone (shockwave, energy torrent...). If you spam it too much you'll waste the proc as it has its own timer to reapply. It procs fairly often if you hit 5 mobs or more with the attack

I'd consider switching the slotting from spine burst and one aura. I didn't run any math on this but from personnal experience i believe low end red on the aura is less "costly" as low end red on the pbae, though it depends on how often you use it prolly. If you use it everytime it's up (let's say every 8sec), you can save let's say 5 end every 8sec with better slotting for end on spine burst, while you save 0,3/sec on the aura... Looks better to focus on end red in the attacks.
I'm fairly sure you'll have some end problems with that build, mine has about the same end recovery after discounting the toggles (i have a lot more recovery but didn't slot end red on the toggles) but the attacks have better slotting for that and i tend to run out of end if i fight non stop with no blues. Conserve power keeps me going and it's recharching right when i need it usually, while yours sure won't be up nearly as fast. Spine burst at 12,8 and Ripper at 9,3 will kill your endurance as fast as mobs -
That's a weird build but i don't know if you're on a budget or if you have special powers you want/don't want, but some random things:
-perf shifter proc in stamina and physical perfection + one perf shifter end mod + one normal IO end mod would be better
-no miracle/numina uniques ?
-i'd drop superspeed and get combat jumping instead, slotted with a lotg unique + the kismet unique and use ninja run instead, but if you don't have the pack i guess superspeed slotted like that is ok
-even if you need the S/L def the recharge on build-up is awful
-consider Lotg unique + 2 enzyme exposures in your def toggles, fewer slots and capping the needed stats
-no impale ? It's very useful to finish runners and/or kill any kind of solo targets. If it's a farm build i'd say you can live without it, but then, why the +def ? If it's an all around build then ST dps is always useful
-same for the KB, with only one anti-KB IO you'll get knocked around often (stacked grenades in an alpha strike, bosses, etc). I tend to go for 3 of them and only Nemesis can KB me on a regular basis
-i don't get why everyone keeps slotting for accuracy in dark regen. I always slot 5 doctored wounds (maxing recharge and endurance) + the ToE proc. The dark regen base accuracy is enough that with some global accuracy bonus you will always hit 2-8 mobs when you fire it in the middle of the melee, which is where you have to use it anyway. The only times it fails is againt a when i'm debuffed to hell by carnies or against a bunch of def buffed lvl 54 mobs, either way you need to-hit and not base accuracy to overcome that so it wouldn't change much -
I'm a scrapper so i just run ahead of the team and kill everything before they come to make sure they have no problem targeting the hostage or glowie.
