Quote:Bingo. Kinetic Melee is good on Stalkers and okie on Scrappers. For Brutes and Tankers, there are far better options.I have nothing against Kinetic Melee but it doesn't strike me as being particularly noteworthy for tanks or brutes. Without the instant recharge on the Build Up, it doesn't seem to me like it's got anything to recommend it over the other options available, outside of concept. You'll do fine with it, but it doesn't really pull ahead in any area.
-
From worst to best, imo:
Energy Melee < Kinetic Melee < Fiery Melee < Electric Melee < Martial Arts < Dark Melee < Street Justice < Super Strength -
I plan on making Street Justice / Electric Armor and Street Justice / Super Reflexes Brutes. Both secondaries seem like the best pairings to me.

So Cardiac Core Paragon Alpha slot it is! Thanks, y'all.

Quote:Exalted is the America of City of Heroes. It is the melting pot of servers. You have (a large amount of) people that emigrated from Freedom. You have people that emigrated from Guardian. You have people that emigrated from Champion. You have people that emigrated from Pinnacle. Etc. While we all play the same game, each server developed its own particular way of doing things. With people emigrating to Exalted from all these different servers, it's resulted in a bit of a culture clash. People want to do things the way they're used to doing them. Except everyone has done things differently.Although Champion is and will remain my home I did move 3 of my toons to Exaulted. I thought it would be another good place to run trials and such since they seem to have slowed down on Champion quite a bit.
This was a mistake and I regret it. I've spent a decent amount of time there and they do run ALOT of trials and task forces but here is the problem as I see it. Because everyone is a VIP no one wants to step back and take orders or instruction. It seems everyone there has this "I know what I'm doing, don't tell me what to do." attitude. And because no one will listen or take intruction it's chaos and any success seems to be chalked up to luck rather than skill. In one day I was on 3 failed bafs and 2 failed lambdas simply because everyone thought they were the leader.
That was about a week ago and I've not logged back in over there since and the next time I am on Exalted it will be to move my toons back to Champion.
So, right now, Exalted has a bunch of people that want to run the same content (whether it be ITFs, LGTFs, Hamidon raids, mothership raids, Incarnate trials, etc.), but are used to running it in one particular way. Most people are willing to listen to the leader, play nice, and try new ways of doing things. Unfortunately, you also have some stubborn people that say things like, "No. Back on Freedom, we did such and such this way. You can do it your way, and I'll be over here doing it the RIGHT way." (From my observations, most of the stubborn people that are unwilling to listen and change emigrated from Freedom, but that just may be my own prejudice.) This results in things like you experienced, sadly. Fortunately, that situation has been few and far between in my experience.
While Exalted is currently experiencing some growing pains from being the America of CoH, it'll settle down eventually, and get into its own groove. In the meantime, I'm actually enjoying it. It's been educational. We (The Stoned Templars) actually learned a couple of new Hamidon raid tricks from an experienced supergroup from the Pinnacle server that's been helping us lead Hamidon raids on Exalted, for instance. -
I managed to snag "Moonwing" on the Exalted server, the day it opened. I've been saving it for the Street Justice powerset.
-
It wouldn't surprise me, but I personally haven't noticed it. That's because one of the first things I do after making a new toon is to remove the Help channel from my chat tabs.

Traps, while awesome on paper, is too slow for team use, imo. Most teams I've been on won't wait for you to set up things. So, if you plan on mostly soloing, yeah, Rad / Traps Corruptor is a good way to go. If you plan on teaming half the time or more... no.
The answer, imo, depends on your playstyle.
Do you plan to mostly play the 1 - 50 content, or do you plan on doing a lot of 50+ content?
If you plan on doing mostly level 1 - 50 content, Force Field / Rad Defender, imo.
If you plan on doing mostly level 50+ content, Rad Blast / Energy Blaster with the Clarion Core Destiny. -
Quote:I'm pretty sure the Hami raids on Sunday is a mistake. I believe it's still Saturdays at 10 P.M. ET. I'll contact Cherry, and she'll let y'all know.Hami raids on Saturday @10 been switched to Sunday @ 10pm ET?
I will host the RWZ Sundays at 8:30pm ET(so no conflict of the raids). Be in RWZ and on league to start exactly at 8:30. Takes 5-10minutes to get all the pylons.
I'd like to attempt to lead a Hami Raid Fridays at 9pm ET(herding up by 8:30). Only led 6hamis, 5successful.(not counting last week) was testin' binds =)
As far as leading a Hamidon raid on Fridays... be aware that we've been discussing two back-to-back Hamidon raids on Saturdays. Two Hamidon raids per week is already a bit much, imo. Three Hamidon raids per week is just going to lead the server to become severely burned out, as experienced on Champion. We started out on Champion with one Hamidon raid a week, then two, then eventually three. It was just far, far too much. Now, as far as I'm aware of, Champion has no Hamidon raids, because two or three Hamidon raids a week just burned everyone out too much on 'em. Now, it's your $15 a month, do what you want, but be aware that having more Hamidon raids is most likely going to burn people out. -
My experience has been the exact opposite. Very few leagues I've been on where we covered the doors had escaped prisoners, while leagues where we set up choke points had a flood of 'em.
-
Quote:I know how choke points work, but I personally prefer having the BAF league spread out to each door. It's simpler, and less error prone, imo.I've only played lightly on Exalted but I have a different take on this situation as I have experienced it on other servers, from the position you're speaking against. Just to be fair, quitting a league because you don't want to put up with wasting time street sweeping/taking out turrets in a Lambda (as opposed to just clearing around the building and going in) isn't something I would file under "superiority." The fact is that Incarnate trials feel like a bit of a grind for a lot of people who are just trying to build t4's and have played the trials to death already. Now, many of those people (myself included) join leagues for the purpose of finishing as quickly and efficiently as possible.
It is a bit of a difficult situation, because that can be perceived as "elitism" for new players who are still getting to know the trials, but for others it's seen as a waste of time that, if it weren't wasted, could overall lead to being able to get another trial or two in for the day and maximize reward opportunities.
For a lot of us,even doing trials efficiently can feel like a grind without the hassle of shaking your fist at the screen every time someone wants to kill turrets during Lambda, or spread out to each door during BAF's escaped prisoners because they don't understand how choke points work. This might be misinterpreted as a feeling of superiority, but I think the feeling of frustration/short tempers is a pretty reasonable thing in a lot of cases. -
Anyone have Alpha slot advice for the build in the original post?
-
Exalted server holds Rikti mothership raids every Sunday night at 9 P.M. ET / 6 P.M. PT, and every Thursday night at 8:30 P.M. ET / 5:30 P.M. PT.
-
This is tonight, y'all. There will be at least a one billion INF kill shot on Hamidon. Hope to see y'all in the Hive.
-
I, personally, have not seen nor experienced any of this poor attitude. While I mostly solo until level 32 or so, most of the people I've encountered on the BMT of Exalted and Exalted Events channels, and during raids, have been good and decent. I'm not going to claim what you say happened didn't happen. Sadly, every server (much like every village), has its idiot. However, I can assure that that is the exception, not the rule.
While I moved to Exalted and made it my home to escape the general nastiness that tends to come with free-to-play MMOGs, that does not mean I consider myself better than anyone else, and I very much doubt I'm alone on that. -
I saw what going free-to-play did to another MMOG. As a result, I transferred all four of my favorite level 50 toons to Exalted, made a few new toons, and called the server home. Does that make me an elitist jerk? Perhaps. Do I care? Nope.

I don't see how I am relying too much on Afterburner... My ranged defense is soft-capped at 45.3% without it.
Endurance will be a bit of an issue, but that's why I'm leaning towards the Cardiac alpha slot. Of course, I am open to and want suggestions.
The reason for the five travel powers is that you need two Flight pool powers to get Afterburner, and I'm a flight junkie. Personally, I don't really want Super Speed, but I've learned the hard way throughout the years that it is necessary to keep up with my teammates, who keep Super Speed always on and rush through missions. Without it, everything in the last room of a mission is already dead before I get there. :\ I took Combat Jumping to keep my ranged defense soft-capped while Super Speeding through missions.
You seem to have posted the same build twice, btw. -
I am currently leveling a Force Field / Fire Blast Defender, and would like some advice. Namely, how is the current build I am working towards, and what Alpha slot would y'all suggest?
I plan to mainly use him for Rikti mothership raids, BAF trials, and Underground trials.

Quote:A couple of things. One, red side always has a lower population than blue side. Second thing, many of the Incarnate trials on Exalted seem to be forming in the Rikti War Zone sadly.I had a bright idea to leave my sg on Freedom server and switch 2 of my favorite toons to Exalted (VIP). My thoughts were that all the paid players would switch over and there would be some kick a** groups and teams... My Freedom server had 2 yellow dots as well as the Exalted server.. I made the transfer.. I knew I was in trouble when there was no one standing at the BM at Cap. So then I hit the pocket D Vip button... " Bam" 2 people on the dance floor...? Quickly I bought 2 more transfers and back on Freedom.. Was I tricked by the 2 yellow dots on the Exalted display?
... Uh, what? Yes, most of the toons on Exalted are lowbies, but I'd hardly say that most of the level 50 transfers are people selling PL services. I've transferred over four level 50 toons myself, and everyone in my SG has transferred over at least one level 50 toon each. -
Personally, I'll stick with BMT of Exalted and Exalted Events. They both work just fine for me. If they merge, fine. If not, fine. For me personally, I see no reason to join any of the other channels.
-
Quote:So... you're advertising a channel on a thread that's about condensing channels?Suggestion Exalted Elites would be good to have its like a lvl 50 channel on my home server has general convo with side of Forming Teams,TFs,Trials,etc.... thus i made it and is available to anyone who wants to join it?
...
Riiiggghhhttt. -
This is one of the main reasons why I moved to Exalted.
-
Oh, I believe you. I'm just greatly annoyed that for the first time in the game's history as I can recall, a contact below your level range is introduced to you. I have OCD, and I made it a point with all of my toons to bring all of the contacts introduced to them to "confidant" status. I even routinely turn off XP while leveling, so I wouldn't outlevel a contact. It's a system that's worked for me for years. Now this throws it all out of whack.
