    The key word being negative. You can disagree all you want, doesn't have to mean being negative. That is what all of this is about. The negativity in these forums is off the chart. This is supposed to be a place where discussion rules, not /jranger or /no answers. If you stop and think about it, you have to admit that it has gotten way out of hand lately and this is a step in the right direction. The community needs to come together and start helping each other instead of trying to insult each other. We can all help by being less "negative". That is all.

  5. I havent tried but i suspect that using Stunning Arrow followed by a Taser shot WILL indeed stun a boss. This could make Taser worth taking imho...

  7. Seriously, the CoP , base raids and Items of Powers have been one of the biggest failure from the Dev team in this game. Just thinking that these features were showing on the CoV box when it first came in store makes me laugh alot.

    I wonder if it will ever be fixed. With IOs available nowadays , Items of Powers seem pretty powerless. Theyd need to give a way better bonus so that players be willing to raid to get them.

    I don't know if I would call it a fix, but because of the way defense stacks, every percent counts for SR: positional defenses can be expensive to get in the sets because they require five or six of a single set, and many of the sets are pricey (not all), but if you can get them, you can increase SR to very high levels of defense. Its not difficult to get to the 35%-40% range without too much difficulty, and that is a substantial improvement in strength. Going tough/weave opens another possibility: getting to the "magic 45%" mark where you begin to floor foes without tohit bonuses. Slotted weave is about 6%, and tough can take the steadfast protection Res/+3%def IO, so the fighting pool actually has almost 9% defense to all theoretically within it. That's most of the way from the about 30% defense SR has to the magic 45%. Set bonuses and power pools can get you the rest of the way.

    That's a pseudo perma-elude build there, at least for PvP (in PvE, just barely getting to 45% is of no use against any attacker with any tohit buffs at all).

    You mean it is good to achieve 45% for PvE. In PvP that would not buy much against the common To Hit Buffs that are used all around.

    Anyway i mostly play the PvE game and it is really nice to be able to wade into Nemesis packs without Elude on and not being shredded by all the aoes and jiggers explosions

    I still have lot of problems when i face packs of enemies that are 3 levels above me but at least now they often miss me enough to buy me some time to react, hit inspirations or withdraw. I rarely faceplant on the alpha-strike like it used to often happen. Overall, i am very happy with how the IOs helped SR powerset. And i added over that the Numina and the Regenerative Tissue unique IO and my health bar really seem to replenish somewhat faster even during combat. I also get 5 times 4% regen from all the Serendipity sets i have slotted so its all adding up. And finally all the accolades bonus hitpoints are adding over that. No doubt Regen and DA scrappers still are greater overall but i am not ashamed of my SR performance during combat anymore. And i must say that my SR really seem to be the first runner when it comes to fight packs of carnies and maltas. Dodging endurance drain really is one of the thing i like the most with SR

  10. I will miss Q 4ORCE so much! These 4 guys really were giving me a good laugh

    I liked the Top Cow comics but i prefered the way they were drawing the characters in the first issues. In the later issues, i think they changed the artist and i didnt like the new art ( which was looking more like anime to me ) . I prefer classic drawing and i liked alot Blue King Studio art. I wish BKS had written a story about the Freedom Phalanx.

    I would truely love to have that at times as well. And I think the devs would like to have something like but, but I beleive that design considerations prevent it. A lo of players on the CoV side of the house take a bit hit in framerate if too many MMs are on the team. You hope for the bestest systems to run your game, but you have to design for more modest systems. I think that the 3 minions = 1 Heroes is partially in reponse to that design contraint.

    I think this could be achieved by simply adding another "difficulty setting" where enemy number would be three times more than normal but conning green minions and blue lieutenants. Some of my characters would really enjoy such a setting.
  12. I agree base percentages of powers should be available in game. It would be nice to see at a glance that when you enhance 57% of Damage Resistance power you are actually enhancing 57% of lets say 40% Base resistance. Just highlighting the Base number in the SO enhancing screen would do it.
  13. Great post discussing optimization of ATs via IOs.

    In theory , if a player could get access to all these IOs in a timely manner it could be great. I cant wait to see how things will turn out on live servers. On test so far, acquiring Scirocco and Numina IOs is very random and expensive.

    KB protection IOs seem fairly numerous and can be bought for cheap at WW these days. This single IO with one extra slot allocated in a Res power let you free yourself from Acrobatics and that is really neat.

    Availability of the most wanted IOs on live servers might prevent a lot of players to achieve builds like the one you propose. Healing IOs are quickly bought by all ATs. I foresee prohibitive prices on Live for Numina IOs and that if there are any at WW.

    Passive powers are always on, therefore any enhancements of this type would always give their bonus.

    Right. A Set Bonus which gave +Regeneration would *always* be active in Dull Pain, while an Enhancement which grants +Regeneration would only work for a set period of time after Dull Pain was activated.

    So quick rule of thumb.

    Set Bonus' = Always On in clicks / passives
    Set Bonus' = Only On in toggles when toggle is on.

    Special IO's = Always on in passives
    Special IO's = Only On in toggles when toggle is on / Only on in clicks when the power is clicked.

    Devs really think players will have fun exemplaring to do TFs in order to get a little shiny recipe? Especially when it is clear than IOs arent such a big deal in the end? Look , Task Force Commander accolade gives a nice little boost but still i never envisioned getting it for every of my alts because the boost just isnt really needed.

    Id rather keep defeating enemies that are around my level and gather more influence, salvages and SOs while keeping getting xps. I can still try to trade later. I really dont see myself exemplaring and wasting 5-6 hours on Positron TF. Not much fun imho and not enough rewarding.

    The thing is that the physics calculations are done on the client, and not the server. With the calculations performed on different machines, and no mechanism to synchronize them in the current protocol, any differences in the environment (like the ones caused by differing network latencies) would cause different results, and the ball would be in a different place for different people.

    In short, the network protocol, server, and client are not structured to handle putting the ball in the same place for everybody.

    Thats really too bad. I think this Big Red Ball thingy would have been great to revive the Arena. Super Powered Soccer Matchs would have been soooo cool. Just imagine the two teams using all their powers to try get the BRB in the opposite goal Blasting at the ball , hitting hit with melee , flying , superspeeding , jumping around to get to it

    Awww... This arena event would have hooked me like Blitzball did with FFX You know when you come to like a minigame more than the real game

    There must be a way! Devs please think of something!

    The comics and novels failed miserably. Even many of the players of the game didn't want the comic free with their subscription, it was so bad, hence the option they had to put in to not have it sent to you.

    The CoH "signature" characters are bland mashes of overused cliches, and this goes for heroes and villlains. So I'm not sure what they'd used for merchandising that would have any appeal.

    Well , you are entitled to your opinion which i personally find a little too harsh... The comics werent that bad imho. I especially liked the Blue King studio writing who was so often relating to the stuff players see in game... And as far as saying that CoX signature heroes are cliches... well , maybe they somewhat are but it doesnt make them as bad as completely unique heroes that are sooo unique that they look just too weird in the end to be liked. One Spawn at times is cool but i like also to see that simple good old heroes ala Thor or Captain America or Statesman arent completely forgotten.

    As realistic as this AI can be, it really is just an annoyance to have enemies running away when you are a melee attacker with no real ranged attack. Especially in the lower levels where it is common to prefer fighting green, blue and white cons because you arent tough enough to fight higher enemies. Maybe the AI should be reviewed?

    At this point , i would just let players e-mail themselve enhancements and influence and get rid of the base concept. Many people seem only to be mostly interested into the "storage" facility which really can be useful for transfering stuff to alternate characters. I wonder if we need big bases and all that just to achieve this. So far , i have zilch interest in bases and i despise prestige system . For me , gaining prestige means losing influence . And influence is far more important for the gameplay than prestige . It really is that simple . The only useful thing ive seen in bases so far is the teleporter device. I only wish devs had spent the time they were creating base items to create new costume options
  20. In the end , when you die , its your own mistake . I mostly only play with PuGs and when i see that things arent going well , i leave. And i will certainly withdraw in a middle of a fight if things are turning bad. Some players tends to just stay there , hoping for a miracle to happen and they die . Then they complain. Only you can control your own character , thus you are responsible of his wellfare before everyone else. But of course, blaming the N00b is easyer than blaming oneself i believe

    Why is it soooo hard to get them back ? Ill give them back the Toga anytime for my old skirt in exchange ...

City of Heroes will receive a cool graphics upgrade, new base items (Empowerment stations!) and access to Recluses’ Victory. It’s true that CoV received more attention, but that’s mainly because we needed to fill out the levels. I had the option of releasing I7 or waiting until we could fill out the City of Heroes content. Obviously, I chose the former. New content should get out there when it’s ready. We'll be focusing equally as much as possible on each product moving into the future...


    For those who have speculated that Newspaper missions are coming to City of Heroes, they aren’t…yet. That’s coming a little later in the year. I’d like to add something different to the CoH system…
