This just in! Comm Officers forming a PROTEST LINE outside the Infinity AE Atlas building.
-
Back alley brawler just spawned..4 kronos titans, 6 adamastors, 5 babbages, Honoree, hro-dothz, Lusca, and a rikti raid among other things in Infinity Atlas.
EPIC WIN. -
wow..Infinity redside we had all 3 DE Giant Monsters, 2 winter lords, posi, and manticore all spawn on top of us at the same time. o.O
-
Nothing big on Infinity yet.

With the patch that hit test tonight, comms are now minions. Custom mobs all now get a base ranged attack
Wooot...exploits fixed.
Now..the secondary result of this is that now all the custom mobs are standardized based on difficulty setting. Pick your animation basically...so much for flavor.

well, blame the mewomeowmeow crowd for ruining it for both creative farm creators and arc writers alike? -

i just wonder why people seem to always treat roleplayers like theyre a disease that needs to be erased from roleplaying games
I have nothing against you if you don't want to rp, I just dislike when roleplayers get treated like some sort of virus for having the gall to exist.

Let me see we have umpteen threads where RPers are complaining about X on a RP basis, Y is Killing the RP game, minor point Z is against cannon, W has to be nerfed for rp reason V, etc etc, and you wonder why there is negative reaction ??
[/ QUOTE ]
To be fair, it works the same way the other way round when farmers or content addicts scream about how thing X is unbalanced or how unfair power z is, or how unfair nerf xyz was -
Electron Elly and Task Force Superawesome in my Fusionette Task Force.
EE is an extremely loose homage to a friend's character who uses lightning based powers and is named Elly
Team Superawesome was the name our scavenger Hunt team adopted this year in our yearly SG scavenger hunt -

sorry. Infinity has roleplayers too. :P. We just dont advertise on other servers like the virtue catgurl brigades. And don't get me wrong, I like smashing things too, i just wonder why people seem to always treat roleplayers like theyre a disease that needs to be erased from roleplaying games

My gripe is the complaining that someone else's playstyle/enjoyment interferes with their enjoyment of the game. I RP, on weekends, with my friends, in a D&D campaign that has been going on for almost 15 years. However, you don't see me yelling at the guys next door to stop practicing their band because we want to RP. It is the same principle. The main response was to the post earlier that didn't understand why non roleplayers were even playing a "roleplaying game". I'm telling you that I am not playing a role playing game, I am playing an action adventure game.

true. I was mostly replying to the people comparing roleplayers to Jehovah's witnesses, a group of religious people with a reputation for being annoying people you just want to fall into a pit and die.
[/ QUOTE ]
Jehovah's witnesses arent too bad if you answer the door wearing a loincloth, a goathead mask, and carrying a kriss blade. You look at the and say "the sacrafices are here!". they dont hang around much after that.
[/ QUOTE ]
actually I find the best way to repel them is to inform them you're Catholic. For some reason it sends them fleeing. >> -

Besides, no offense, but I never got why people would wanna play a role playing game if they have no intention of role playing. :P

To you this may be a RPG, to me it is a multiplayer arcade game smashfest. Roleplay requires an active participation I am not willing to give to something I am paying to play. I want entertainment, simple smashtastic hacknslash entertainment. Virtue is that way----->

Do you role play while playing Final Fantasy? Not the online Final Fantasy. Since that is an "RPG."
[/ QUOTE ]
I dont play Final Fantasy to be honest. Its a pretty horrid excuse for a jrpg.
besides. theres a huge difference. FF is designed to be a singleplayer game where you more or less take on a predetermined role.
CoH is a massive, social experience with no predefined role or story for your character. -

Can we get this thread closed now? It's run its course, regardless of what side of the discussion you fall on. Post in one of the more civilized threads from now on.

Yes because calling for the suppression of ideas that are disliked is so forward thinking. I would say civilized but its one civilization's tragedies that it is.

Yes. because its not like there arent 40 other topics about this exact same argument all of them going in circles. -

So, if you don't like being bothered by farmers, the "solution" is to just:
Stop listening to broadcast
Stop looking for teams
Stop being visible to others
Stop going to zones with AE buildings
Stop posting your negative opinions
... what else? Stop playing on your regular server? Stop playing, period?
One of the reasons I've always been fond of this game is that I could at least pretend it wasn't like all the others. But with every update, the people who are trying to turn it into ProgressQuest have gotten more visible and more aggressive. It's very discouraging.
(I await the inevitable cries of "so leave.")
[/ QUOTE ]
No. you could try..i dunno. being proactive about teaming and realize the ONLY zone on most servers with AE spam period is atlas park? -
[ QUOTE ]
ok really that is a dumb idea doesn't get rid of Farming at all ... people wont be in atlas or talos cause of the farming being else were this isn't a solution to the problem at all.
Your worried that you can't do the costume contests or talking in Atlas. Well one solution you can do is get rid of xp in AE all together. No Farming no Problems. Now with no xp your looking at people on doing AE for the couple reason NCsoft wanted too.
1. Badges - collectors will go there to get them
2. Tickets - Recipes and enhancements
3. Creativity - the reason AE was meant to be
See 3 very good reasons why people will still use AE without xp.
[/ QUOTE ]
and no. if there was no exp, I feel the vast majority of players would see little point in going to the AE just to see new content if they could not gain levels doing it. if anything, it'd just become a ticket farming hub for 50's who don't need to farm for exp. -
[ QUOTE ]
I've got to personally agree with the "Remove AE from Atlas" group, here.
I just started a new toon. I went to Atlas. And found it crowded as all heck. Calls for Farms blaring across Broadcast, when people weren't getting into arguments, or laughing at the poor sod asking if there were any Sewer Teams forming.
The traffic was so bad that I was rubberbanding so much it took me more than three minutes to move 200 feet.
And this is on Victory. Not one of the major populated servers.
Atlas is simply too central too the game. Characters from all levels were always heading back to Atlas for one reason or another. With the AE showcase there... I'm getting bogged way down.
I don't care about the farmers. I don't do it myself, but hey, to each his (or her) own. But when the farmers are so prevelant that I can barely move my character?! That's a problem. And the only solution I can see to this is to shut down AE in the normaly heavy-traffic zones.
[/ QUOTE ]
heres an idea. roll new toons in galaxy. -
[ QUOTE ]
I don't know about all you special people, but I've been PuG'ing since I first signed on to CoH a few years back, and that represents the bulk of my teams. I rarely solo.
I'm really torn on the AE farming business. A part of me likes leveling quickly. It's a lot more enjoyable to get to 20, grab stamina, and move on to the cool powers. Another part of me hates the fact I can't get a team together to run arcs, whether the normal ones or AE missions.
The farming fad SHOULD wind down. Mowing down walls of Rikti Comm officers or whatever the muppet-of-the-month is going to get old, and once a character hits 26, I can't stand farming them much longer. I just hope other people feel similarly, and that once they get their 50/their third pet and second pet upgrade/their 15th 50 they lose interest in farming without losing interest in CoX as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
well, for me. I gave up on pugs years ago when i realized that either soloing or teaming with SGmates was far less likely to fill my bar with debt.
So I've been running lots of story arcs teamed. even the occasional farm when we just feel like making some quick prestige for the SG -
[ QUOTE ]
I haven't PUGed in years, but that doesn't mean that it should be destroyed as a viable option for folks looking to do the other 98% of content in the game (including NORMAL AE missions). As is, it's a useless avenue until the exploits are closed or people get bored with it and move on.
[/ QUOTE ]
true. but I do think the devs are working on that, albeit slowly. yesterday there were multiple 4starred farms with 500-600 votes. Theyre gone now.
and just the other day i rolled a new char on virtue, joined a low lvl pug for the heck of it adnd they were running lowbie arcs.
The demand is there, you just have to be proactive. -

I think theres a difference there, dont you?
I also think its funny that all these people are defending the farming Spam when its obviously not something the Devs are okay with and are just like 'Ignore it and go play your game, its not affecting you!'
[censored]. It is affecting me. Im having difficulty getting PuGs Together, TFs together, or anything thats not a Fracking AE Farm. I dont mind running the missions but Id like to not kill level 54 Bosses for the rest of my time in CoH.
Anyone who says it HASNT affected their PuGing is Lying.

and to answer the earlier question about what a meow farm is. Its a comm officer farm.

Like the Rikti doll ones? I thought those got nerfed (or was that a different Rikti?). If it hasn't, I'd be certain they'll get to it.
[/ QUOTE ]
they nerfed dolls. but they didnt do much about regular comm officers that naturally give lieutenant exp because of the portal summoning thing. -

[ QUOTE ]
If you read back you will see that it wasn't a blind invite and I was actually looking for an AE team when the newbs invited me....the mission they already had loaded was a Meow Farm that auto levels everyone up to the max level. I was just sharing my story of why this is a problem. You don't need to think all us are in the wrong because we are expressing our dislike for the farms that are causing problems.
If you don't think it is damaging the game, then you should check the drastic price drops on some items like Chronal Skip.
[/ QUOTE ]
So let me get this straight.....the increased quantity of recipies available as well as rare salvage has caused these prices to plummet, allowing more players to create tricked out endgame builds....even the casual players. So now...only the ultra rare "purps" are truely "hard" to get.
This is a bad thing how???

even the purps seem to be falling in price a bit.

As i said, i enjoy lvl as effective as i can, however, i also enjoy a challange, and ill admit am lazy.
This combination of factors makes me, and i guess a few others, vunrable to these kinds of things. Vunrable in way that it makes other things to do feel like "less fun".
Your comment of me being away for four years is 100% valid. Yes i dont know enough from Coh to enjoy al its challenge's beceaus i simply dont know them.
But atm for me, and me being a new player. There is no reason to embrace those challenge's beceaus im not yet end game yet at 43, and there is nothing faster or more rewarding then these meow missions on the moment.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, CoX isn't like most MMO's. There's no reason to hurry to 50. There's only a few things to do once you get there. There really isn't any "end game". It's not like many, where getting to the top level is where it "starts". CoX isn't about the goal, it's about the journey. But if you want to hurry, that's your call.
[/ QUOTE ]
ah, let him hurry to 50. then he can scream about how theres no endgame content derp derp. -

Here's the real solution to farming, in three easy steps:
Ignore it.
Play your own game.
Get on with your life.
'Nuff Said.
[/ QUOTE ]
You know who else that worked for?
The Native Americans. They just ignored the problem of the White Man, and now they've got no problems, they've still got their own country, haven't been [censored] or pillaged, none of that.
Clearly, I'm kidding with the dramatic tone and real world example, but this is actually a problem, it hurts the economy, it hurts the player base and it hurts the game when it gets so consumed by farmers as it has.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hows it hurting the economy?
if anything making money now is so easy that nobiody has any excuse for not being rich,
