Played brute tank and scrapper versions with a variety of damage sets.
Shield is fine. If anything its above the mid point for scrapper sets
Toss IOs into the equation and it moves up higher. -

Heh, I'm afraid that yours is one of the avatar's I have to hit escape to stop the animation from playing. Thankfully IE and Firefox both will suspend playing animated gif's when you hit the escape key.

And today I learnt something useful
Thanks. -
Id like to keep Galaxy nice and quiet and spam free thanks, so a NO from me.

Proton Volley does sound very much like Photon torpedoes
Night Fall from Dark Blast could be what the OP is thinking of as well. -
I find the actual invasions very laggy on my old machine.
I enjoy playing through them for the shineys, but I find the process not that great.
If I happen to have the desktop in the house and find one going on, then it is much more fun as there is minimal lag. -

Again, though, the pool powers are not taking away from my defenses, they're actually making them STRONGER. If I left them out, I'd have 0% resistance instead of 15% (21% now I'm L23).
[/ QUOTE ]
The opportunity cost is that you are missing powers which would work better than those you chose.
Yes the powers make you stronger, but other powers could have made you MUCH stronger. -
You did get it NAO! though
Commiserations, now make it back fast. -
Did you logoff in the Vanguard base recently?
Most likely it is the Vangaurd Day job bonus -
you are missing just one:
5) delete
Certain level 10s especially are not worth a storage slot, or placing on the market. If there is a bid I'll list them for 1, if not its straight to the trash. -
The main reason I want the team size slider to be accepted by the TF contacts is simple.
I hate bugging my SG and coalition mates for a filler or three when I want to solo, or duo a TF.
They dont complain, but I know I am taking from their valuable in game time.
I mostly run them teamed, but ti would be great to have the option to avoid bugging them. -
Foot Stomp could be Ground Punch
Hand Clap and Hurl are more tricky -
Traps/AR defender
Claws/?? Brute (probably will power)
Both will be great fun and I'm sold. -
I have been wanting a traps/AR ever since proliferation was first mentioned.
SQUEEEEEE -
Purples are going to drop more often, thus increasing supply.
People are going to want purples more to solo 6-8 man spawns thus increasing demand.
On balance in think its goin to affect the supply more than the demand, but its if goign to affect both. -

So, it's ok for other players to have those buffs, but not the Defender?
[/ QUOTE ]
Abolsutely.
The Devs have few issues with TEAMS being 'overpowered'. Witness Castles various comments about groups like the Repeat Offenders.
When one character can survive everything thrown at it, and do large amounts of damage, thats a tank mage, and that is bad for a MMO.
[ QUOTE ]
Making the class weak solo because he can help other people more smacks of bad design to me. As I said before, why would I want to play if my only purpose is to make someone else's game more fun? I want to have fun too. Every other AT brings something to teams, and none of them suffer solo as a result of that
[/ QUOTE ]
You are not the sole arbiter of fun. Some people enjoy playing buff-focused characters. Why deprive them of the oppurtunity to have their brand of fun ? -
I find the -range very useful on my tanks with taunt.
-
Its a design choice.
They can and do introduce in small chains. -
[ QUOTE ]
I am likely in full agreement with you that defenders should be able to self-target with buffs, I never understood that design decision - but the defender AT doesn't suffer much for it outside of solo, and bring incredible value to a team.

30% def all (perma) hits the Soft cap with PowerbuildUp
900% regen (perma with hasten) Plus anoth 900% almost perma
1000% recovery boost
13 Mag mez resist (perma)
Plus a damage boost that brings damage scale up to 1.
Thats a self-targeting empath right there, which explains why you can't self target those buffs. -

Now THATS more like a soloing defender build. I note the use of both primary and secondary to boost survivability (detention field is a great tool solo).
Personally I'd have left sniper blast to later, but thats about it. -

10 powers, 9 of them pool powers.
Thats an issue when complaining about primaries or secondaries.
Heck, this build is just a step away from a MAN build at level 22. -
Thanks for the headsup and the quick fix to that pesky bug

i wasn't calling myself casual. i was just asking the question based on my influence gained compared to my 20+ hours a week of play.
perhaps 20+ hours is too casual to purple out a toon. if so i may have bitten off more than i can chew.
thanks for the advice. i will check it all out.
[/ QUOTE ]
It really depends on what you are doing in that 20 hours.
The inf earning of a level 50 playing for 20 hours is vastly more than running a character from 10 to
~30 (or whatever you get to) -

play money rains down from the sky in this game- all anyone needs to do to become filthy, stinking outrageously disgustingly rich is hold out their hands to collect some of the downpour...
...I kinda like the current price madness- it makes the stuff you want worth going after again, instead of casually picking stuff up at BUY IT NAO prices just because you can.
[/ QUOTE ]
For a minute there, I thought you were talking about Monopoly... which prompts me to ask:
What's the player's ultimate goal in City of Heroes nowadays: to make money or play a superhero/villain?
[/ QUOTE ]
The two are not mutually exclusive. -
