"Beginning October 16th, 2009 at 12:01 AM PT you will be able to contact Customer Support and for the standard Character Transfer fee of $50.00 you will be able to schedule a transfer for your character, eligible structures and inventory."

So I think we got a pretty good deal. It's not cheap, but it isn't outrageous compared to others.
Am I reading that right. SWG is merging servers (check), tell players to chose a new server (check).

If you are not active right now say, and re-up not only do you find you server gone, but then you have to pay $50 to transfer to a single character server that is actually there.

You know I have seen bad business decisions before, but wow that one is right up there if they have any hope of getting former players back into the fold.

    Rogue (villain going good)

In a worse case scenario you need a 3rd neutral party to handle the trading.

You only need to do your activities in the absolute worst case scenario where a gray cannot trade with a rogue or vigilante.
And hence my comment about gamers generally finding the easiest possible path.

Gaaaaah Can't believe I missed that obvious set-up.

    * Gold WOULD have been a great investment 5 years ago, I mean it has doubled in value in the last 5 years. It isn't going to do that again anytime soon, the recent performance is for a variety of macroeconomic reasosn, not least was several goverments flooding the market by auctioning off their gold reserves. Goverments are stupid enough to annouce this is advance and depress the market they are trying to sell to.

Catwhoorg is not an investment advisor. I mean I do OK with my own money but thats becaue I have an advisor and actually listen to him. Nothing here is an endorsement of any product, future, stock or commodity. Except Cookies. Buy Cookies and send them to me. KThanx
  4. Its funny we were speculating about the movement of items and the like caused by GR in my coalition channel last night.

My thoughts, GR will inevitably cause an normalisation of pricing between the markets if not an outright market merge. (yes please to the latter)

Depending upon excatly how much effort is involved in side switching, I can easily see the following occuring.

Take a character and run the GR missions until you are right on the cusp between red and blue. Say you are blue side, take something which is pretty cheap here, say pet sets. Buy a whole bunch of them, run the one mission to tip you over the edge, then sell to redside.

Then being 'just' red it should be relatively easy to run back up to the cusp. Buy something thats cheap red and more expensive blue (IM thinking luck charm would be an easy example), then run that final mission to bring you back to blue.

There are obvious ways to limit this, Say there are 10 'rogue' points to go from one side to the other (1-5 red 6-10 blue), what you do is instead of putting a new villain at 5 that last mission puts you all the way to 1. Puts a barrier there to some degree, but that just slows the process it doesn't eliminate it.

To go all chemical analogy on folks, the disparity between the markets is an enthalpy difference, it will drive a reaction (item transfer) forward. The difficulty of the side-switch is the activation energy required, make it high enough and only a small portion of players will be motivated enough to transfer items. (The reaction is energetically favorable, but kinetically slow without an external stimulus think burning/oxidation of wood)

If its low enough, there will be a flood of the items, and that will quickly work to normalise the differences, leading to a defacto merged market anyway.

Gamers being what they are, someone will quickly find a way to minimise the effort (activation energy) required, which is akin to catalysis.

As a 60 month vet, a loyalty program member and sight unseen a GR pre-orderer I know I'll be in the beta at somepoint. I'll be paying VERY close attention to the effect on GR on the markets, as well as all the other testing I would normally do.
  5. ZOMG only Freedom is Locked, and Virtue isn't, the game is DYING.

    or

ZOMG only two servers are locked, merge the rest of them now. Queuing is good, when I want toplay I want a server filled to beyond capacity such that you have to wait to even have a chance of teamign with me...

Heck even if every single server was locked during the double XP weekend, I'd lay pounds to pence that within a fortnight we would have a 'game is dying' type thread.

  7. I'd like to see the US and EU server list merged.

I'd alos like the localisation ability used for the EU to be used to create an extra Spanish language server on that merged list.

The Global issue is a big deal, just look at the _NA/_EU issue on these forums and how that upset a good number of people.

  9. Whilst you pioint may have relevance in the real world, but it is certainly not valid here

Every single critter defeated that can drop level 50 commons, has the exact same chnace to drop a purple as any other crtitter of equal rank (minion/lt/boss).

No-one is 'born' into good drops or bad drops. Fight critters that can drop purple and drops will come on average at the same rate (drops/critterdefeated) for you as for everyone else.

Of course some people kill more critters/hour so get more drops/hour by doing that.

The PWCC issues appears to have been resolved, which was causing issue for a large portion of those playing on the East Coast Servers, pretty much constantly.

Now I have an SG-mate who is getting issues, but a good portion of that seems to be her router (I think its going to need to be replaced, its requiring frequent reboots and after each reboot the lag goes away).

Then there was the PuG member who last night dropped 3 times in the cause of 5-6 missions.

    1) You are not alone, but you are in a minority
    2) there doesn't appear to be a general issue (Like the PWCC one) affecting the majority of folks
    3) work with Support, and maybe if there is a localised issue with a switch/router somewhere in the internets, they can pool data from several customers and get it identifed so the owning company can fix it..

The Player Guide to the Cities Section is meant as a replacement for the old style game manuals. Nice thick and Chuncky, but giving detailed step by steps for everything
  14. Renault SF spawns at level 30, its falls under the signature TF/SF rules. Get four level 25s and it will still spawn 30s.

Also Agincourt does spawn longbow as low as level 31. Still above the TF Cap to be sure, but not quite as bad as 33s

What toons have you been playing for all this time?

A wide variety, my publicly listed stable is 59 alts. Only one of these I Class as 'retired'
    http://cit.cohtitan.com/profile/780

Though one on that list is likely to be deleted and rerolled very soon. (Former Mr England, he 'went rogue' via reroll. At the very latest I'll make him anew once GR comes out)

Have you played one from when you started till now?

Catwhoorg (Claws/regen) was rolled the very first day my account was created, and was last played on a Master of Khan TF on Sunday.

    Whats your favourite build?

    Blueside solo - Claws/regen
Blueside teamed - damage AR/Dev blaster, Support rad/rad defender

    Redside solo - SS/fire Brute
    Redside teamed - Crab Soldier

use the wiki.cohtitan.com or paragonwiki.com addresses

Both go to the same place.

    The Perfect 10

Is the form bug still prent during a respec ?

Im specifically thinking putting the level 3 and 5 slots into nova form blasts.

that would certainly help out at level 10.

My own little anecdote from last night. Started a duo with my wife, we have a special teaming night we have missed for a coupel of weeks and our characters dropepd back a few levels.

Within a couple of mins, that was upto a team of 4, then for most of the night it was a team of 8.

We were 24 to start, and got through to 26. On the team were a couple of folks in the low 30s, some in the 20s and a couple of lowbies with jetpacks.

Now the latter would happily have been sidekicked before, but the keeping powers when -5 levels and XP when exemping meant the 30s folks were more than happy to tag along.

I simply cannot praise the whole SSK package enough for making it easy to build and maintain teams. It has been a paradigm shift, that will take some time, beofre it is fully appreciated.
  21. My own claws/regen runs Posi pretty fast. Regen specifically for the click heals and Qucik Recovery for low downtime.

A good chunk of the time for a run is taken gettting actually between the missions and the Fedexes, so a true speed runner needs to be SS or maybe SJ.

After that the secret of a good speed run is really playstyle. Know which missions to skip to the end (literally a scrapper can just run past the mobs in the boss/guards missions), and which you need to fight in.
  22. Historically,I mean waaay back in beta, the decision was put to the players.

    Females in existing groups
    or
    More Variety of groups

    the players chose the latter.

That is how we kinda of got into this situation. I have always thought that a nice little project for a newish hire into the art department would be to create several new skins for most groups, some of which could be female.

There was the push for COV with its new grousp, then into the Freem-15 period and a lack of resources.

Im guessing that a lot of art development time is beign tied up with Going Rogue, but maybe after that hits the shelves we could try to get a comitment to flesh out some of the thinner groups, and include some female skins.
  23. Both regen and willpower are great secondaries for claws. will power will have the 'toggle on and forget' aspect like /SR, whereas regen will require some degree of active management of the clcik heals.

    In terms of claws
    Strike or swipe to taste
    Slash
    Follow-up
    Focus

is the core of your single target chain

Evsicerate spin and shockwave give 3 nice AOEs, though be aware shockwave is knockback, and leanr how to use that to your advantage.

On just about every secondary I tend to take 7 attacks, for seperate Single target and AOE 'chains'

Skip the bolded powers (even for 2 levels) and I will personally call down a meteor shower on you, though not on those you hold dear as they should survive to learn from the error of your ways.
