    Santa = villain?

He SEES you when you are sleeping.

    He KNOWS when you're awake

If THAT doesn't creep you out, nothing will.
  2. I tend to view build goals differnetly for variouis characters.

A billion inf for Catwhoorg for a single IO if I wnated it is just fine, and I can wait months if need be.

A billion inf is several other characters worth of IOs, and with the lower inf amounts the timeframe is substationally reduced for them.

Again simply not the case. On Catwhoorg Knockdown from Focus is his #1 survival tool in a boss fight solo. (EBs and AVs often require a different approach). Last night I was reminded that Snaptooth is another example of an EB who you juggle and with just a little care he cannot get more than 1-2 attacks off in an entire fight.

It is impossible to overstate just how useful reliable (as in the 100% from Forcebolt rather than the 20-60% chance from most energy blasts) knockback/down is.

That holds true no matter what the AT is using it.

Air Superiority is suprisingly effective at knocking foes down, and since I needed to be near the action to provide Dispersion Bubble protection to the team, I actually found it quite effective using the melee attacks.
Take that 100% knockup lesson from AS and apply to Force Bolt from range
  4. Windows Vista Home Premium, 64 bit to be exact.

I'll be taking the plunge maybe this weekend, probably the weekend after. Accoridng to what I have read, this should be a very straightforward transition.

Besides the usual advice of backup everything first is there anything specific I should be looking at doing with this particular upgrade ?

There is a clear mathematical progression of all of the levels.

You will barely notice the difference in practice (They lie between a white SO and a -1 yellow SO)
  6. Lord Winter:
5 back to back runs on Triumph Blueside. He went down really fast with the sheer numbers wailing on him. Co-ordination seemed not to be much of an issue.

20 candy canes is a decent return, 8 merits (for the 3 guardians plus him) is logical and its certainly a reasonable return for the event.

All in all I enjoyed this test, and look forward to the event coming live pretty much as is.
  7. The event mobs (Winter Horder) and the Red Caps and Tuatha inside the mission drop entirely Arcane Salvage.

Arcanes will get increased supply, and tech will become scarcer.

Can't be done under the current engine.
A toggle pulses, lets say every second (it does vary)and applies an effect that lasts 1.25 seconds.

A 'phase' toggle applies then 1 second later sees the target is 'unaffected' and shuts off.

Granted, my Scrapper is largely Defense based, but the Defender has half the Defense, half the damage and far less health, as well as lower regeneration and resistance. Granted, the Defender might be able to benefit from staying out of melee range, but one or two shots hitting him is all it takes to be defeated. Lacking any credible defense, resistance or regeneration, this is a very likely event.

However, even though this is an extreme example, the fact remains that this exact situation HAS happened to me. The Scrapper defeated the Chief Soldier (with difficulty), and the Defender was defeated before he did even a tenth of the Soldier's health.
Check the damage on a Rikti Sword, versus the blast from the end, and compare how faster attacks cycle in melee and range.

The scrapper HAS to be in melee range (minus claws or spines obviously and even then they would have to kite to stay purely ranged).

A resist based or regen scrapper simply cannot survive long enough to defeat a +4 Rikti Soldier without mitigation from their secondary. (or use of a tier 9). If it is fair that many scrappers have to use secondary mitigation, surely it is acceptable that a defender does?

The defender has 16% ish defence just from the big bubble (can easily get more from pool powers and IOs).

An /SR scrapper has 30 ish (assuming both the toggle and passive each 3 slotted), so they are getting hit approximately half as frequently other things being equal, but each hit that lands with the sword does more, and the attacks are cycling much faster.

Personally, I take hover on most of my defenders, simply to stay OUT of melee of the heavy hitters like this. In addition to the basic range is a defence, attackers can get 'stuck' into wanting to close and if you keep knocking them away you will have little or no incoming fire.

Play a FF defender like a scrapper wannabe and you will not do well. Play to its strengths and with heavy use of knockback, you are much much safer in this situation.
  10. Winter Horde inside the BBNY mission are dropping Candy Canes.

Excellent move, I'm working of firming up an estimate of the drop rate.

I hated clicking presents for canes.

    I wonder that myself sometimes

    breaks down roughly as
    $75 for digital preferred teir
    $25-30 for internet (I forget)
$5 for a modem rental (yeah I'm that stupid - I'll buy one when I move next)
$10 IIRC for Sports Package so I can watch the Permiership games on FSC (Fox Soccer Chanel)

the rest is fees and taxes

To get the channel line up I want on DirectTV requires the 'Premier' Tier ($84 a month right now, $110 after offer expires and that includes Starz, Showtime etc which I don't want).

Im seriously thinking about adding Setanta to that for another $10-15/month, mianly for their rugby coverage.

Looking at the last few TFs added

    5th Column - Signature
    ITF - Non-Signature
    Lady Grey - Signature

The Devs have mixed signature and non-signature in the TFs added.

The argument over the choice that signature TFs even exist, was commented on long ago (old forums and I'll try to find if it made it over) and is clearly by their actions, something the Devs intend to keep using.

It was when the products merged.

I expect the two new powersets to be GR purcahses only for at least 12 months, probably more like 2 years. Only time will tell at this point.
  15. Hami always spawned at 50, so a bunch of 45s used to be able to start, but basically be unable to finish.

The STF villains always spawn even higher.

Posi always spawns at 15, though in this case at least one group of 3 level 10s ran this just to show it can be done.

Signature TFs have been like this for as long as I have been playing.

For Lady Grey Specifically: The first way was you needed 4 players at/near 50 the rest needed to be 35+ (then adjusted to 45+)and were sidekicked manually, or now have a single 50 and the rest 45+ under SSK is all that is needed.

SSK makes it easier than ever to get a team, just make sure the 50 starts it.

Exactly, the unaffected by buffs on reconstruction makes me a happy Kitty.
(also useful versus Cold defs/corrs in PvP, then they just plink away from range with slows)

Actually a FF defender can likely handle a +4 Rikti Chief Soldier in a far safer manner than anything but a defence based scrapper.

Force Bolt will keep him at range for you to whittle down. A single hit from the sword will wipe out the scrapper unless he is nearly at full health.
  22. Thats a 2 day attempt for sure.

Ran it this weekend myself, taking it easy took about 5 hours in a single sitting.
  23. DM/SR or DM/SD built for +def (to softcap for positional defences) then +recharge should both be good places to start.

To get a feel for it before spending vast amount on IOs, I would suggest taking the DM/SR and trying as you are riuht now, using a single luck to softcap yourself. Renewing it as needed, that gives you a 20 min window to get one down.

After getting the hang with inspirations, you can advance to the no insp type set-up
