I duspute that entry into IO sets are that problematic even for a new player.
Uncommons are mostly cheap easily available, and most of the time get good basic coverage of a powers needs, maybe with a slot spare to put anything missing.
(Exception the real lowbie sets with have just 3-4 pieces, but again put all of a set then cover the weakness with commons).
Optimising builds maybe problematic for a newcomer, but slotting 'Volley Fire' plus an extra damage or two really is not.
Heck, the first character I dipepd into sets with, I basically slotted IOs for the set names (Emp/elec with Thunderstikes and Doctored wounds). It is a valid approach for a cheap performance boost over 'regular' enhancements at any level. -
Which is simply replacing the random chance with a merit type increment. Still ties to victories (with a minor nod to an arena defeat), and the same issues the current system has.
-
Its not 50% by any realitic estimate, as any drops solds is not reduced at all by SG mode.
TopDoc showed earnings from defeats to be roughly on 20% of the 'real value' of each defeat. Now that figure was based on the market and the time, but it is realistic in the current market. (Heck given the purple pricing, I'd say drops are worth more than when he did his analysis)
8% chance of a recipe drop per minion, and 32/41 drops being common, level 50 commons alone when vendored offer more inf then the drop off.
Throw in anything marketable, and its easy to see how you reach a 3-4 fold figure from drops versus the direct inf. -
The Devs should never have coloured the Pool A 'Rare' the same as Pool B and Pool C (and in the old days Pool D).
'Rarity' only matters in Pool A. The others are attained through other means.
(When you have 100% chance of a pool C drop via a merit roll, rare is just the wrong term to use)
At 10% nominal chance per person per door mission, Pool Bs are pretty common drops, and unlike Pool A drops, they scale with team size. (Though more on the team often means longer to finish a given mission). -
Quote:Posi is a minimum of 3 to start, so the first point is a slight error.Translation: as long as you do it with a team size it wasn't technically intended for, at a level it wasn't intended for and sidestep the all the pesky 'content' then it's a easy TF.
.
Using 50's and skipping to the end of the non-defeat alls does make it fast. -
The one thing that always makes sure I am flush. Getting Common IOs early
At level 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 buying a single ACC SO at each 5 level increment (so no 'greening up') = 266 112 inf
Crafting from memory including buying the salvage at a reasonably patient (ie overnight cost) is ~60 000 inf.
200K inf saved per slot at 22. Usually more for me, as in addition to having a field crafter I normally have the characters put patient bids out at below my cost to craft
Even as late as level 40 crafting commons is a saving over buying a level 40, 45 and 50 SO.
That really adds up over time.
Two Acc DOs at 12 and 17 is 14 175, if you can snipe a acc IO at 15 for less than that, you come out ahead in inf as well as with a better enhancement value. -
In almost all 5 slotted purple sets I have skipped the acc/rech.
The exception being Ragnorak which was in shockwave, and thus the knockdown proc was superfluous. -
Quote:Without a detailed look at various things, its hard to say for sure. Now I'm playing a 6 year old game on new hardware that run SF4, LoL and WoW without any problem and in CoX which again is a 6 year old game I have conn lag issues during big maps and in an almost empty Pocket D!? Explain!
What I can add is almost every time my wife complains about lag and the like, the video drivers on her PC need an update. -
Quote:Swoop is the only Battel Axe power with knock-up.
I have powers in some of my ATs, say Axe for my Tank, clearly says the effect of using it states it knocks-up. When I go fight mobs, I use that one power, and the foe is knocked clearly across the room. Annoying to me, to be frank and a departure to what the power description says that power is supposed to do.
All of the others are knock down (ie 0.67 knock back) and state that. -
What do you want out of the rolls ?
If just raw inf, bronze rolls are good. Usually I roll the 35-39 teir. -
Quote:Drop pools is something that the wiki is very reliable on. There was a general effort a long time ago, then twice I led an effort getting the 'unknowns' pinned down. (which also included an 'audit' of all the lists).Speaking from experience on where these can appear, the wiki is correct.
Are there still errors there ? Probably as we are all human, but they will be few and far between. -
Quote:The advent of genetic screening and IVF makes this less of an issue. The moral ambiguity gets reduced when only the embryos are press screened before implantation.
Which, I suppose, brings me to another point. Compare, if you will, a genetic anomaly that crops up in a child of a consensual act of incest to a baby born with some genetic condition that the parents knew there was a good chance of it getting based on their own genetic predisposition. Does that mean that it is unforgivable also for known carriers of genetic diseases to reproduce? The same effect is created in the child (genetic problems) and the same knowledge is basically present (most people know that incest can bring about issues in their children). I am pointing this out to see just where you would draw the line. If one is bad, why not the other? -
The absolute best way is to have a empath proactively hit you with Adrenalin Boost. With a single endmod SO(opr common IO) it outweighs the -recovery effect of the Nuke.
Then have a kin fire off transference after you pop.
Full end bar and positive recovery... -

And the daylight is 15 of those 'hours', and nighttime a mere 9
Thats 18.75/30 mins daylight and 11.25 mins nightime.
I would be against extending the in-game 'day'. As if you have a task that needs one or the other at least you have at most 18.75 mins to wait.
Doubling that would make it more frustrating -
They are grouped by origin and tiers, for example Lowbie tech is grouped together
(Alien Blood Sample, Enriched Plutonium, Source Code, Complex Chemical Formula, Plasma Capacitor, Heads Up Display) -
Unfortunately (or probably fortunately) that is a level of detail we will never know.
I know there is a case right now in Germany where a brother and sister are pushing a case to the highest levels.
Its not so much that I find the prospect of adult consensual incest distasteful (which I do), but its more to me about protecting any possible progeny from the much higher risk of severe genetic issues.
BUT this a sideline treading on dangerous (modlock) ground in an otherwise solid thread, so I'll drop it. -
Nope. It was a beta forum section that had been set-up but someone forgot to lock down. It was visible for maybe 10 mins tops.

Quote:The Royal Families in Egypt, most extremely the Ptolomaic period. King Tut being born of a brother and sister is in the news right now.And I defy you to provide me an example where incest wasn't considered wrong by the populace.
However, if that teaches us anything, its why incest is normally considered taboo, as the genes WILL out. -
I have little doubt that the Regen Tissue and Miracle will be similarly adjusted.

On Friday (IIRC) there was briefly a 'closed beta' ultra mode section that hadn't been created correctly and was visible.
Its pretty likely the Ultra testing will begin early next week from that little hiccup by on of the Community team -
Whilst not complete, and still needs more data

gives a good insight into relative weightings. -
If something is worth more at the vendor (so 250 for common salvage) than at the market, there is already a supply excess of demand, and clogging the market with more items would do no good.
If something is worth less at the vendor than at the market, then its a reasonable assumption that the majority end up on the market anyway, so this would do little.
