    I also am in the habit of slotting sets in the low 30s for the purposes of exemping.
    You are quite correct, that would have been a better phrase to use

  4. The MM buff is hard capped at a maximum of 6 targets

    A single target click buff like and ally shield could conceivably affect
    7 team mates
    with 6 henchmen each
    plus a fluffy

    Thats 49 targets already (currently would be 438.75 for a MM force fielder), the upside return is simply too good even at 45 end per power.

    add a gang war or two (which are affected)
  5. You biggest bang for the buck would be frankenslotting some key powers.

    Thats taking a mix and match approach with set IOs. Generally with triple bonus IOs (though it does work with doubles as well)

    You dont' mention you AT, so I'll use ranged damage as an example

    Instead of and ACC and DAM SO (so using 2 slots)
    Put in
    Acc/Dam/Rech from Thunderstrike
    Acc/dam/Rech from Ruin

    That will give the same ACC boost (all will be a touch better than SO in fact), the same dam boost and a full SO worth of recharge.
  6. I have deleted more than my fair share, though before we could buy extra slots I did use other servers to test combos then re-create them on triumph if I felt they had staying power. Many of them are still abandoned and lonely on the other servers,

    A few highlights on the delete list.
    My ever 2nd villain Cool Cymru (ice/cold corr) though the name was recycled for my rad/rad corr.

    So many early heroes its hard to recall.

    I have been through 5 incarnations of Mr Greece, the current inv/fire tank looks like a stayer though.

    before we got extra slots I deleted my Claws/dark Lil Fluffy in her 20s, though she returned and is now 30 in the new incarnation.

    It really depends on how you intend to play the character

    Getting them 30-33 is very exemplar friendly. Getting them later in the game gets, the best bonuses.

    Only you know how you intend to play the character, and that determines your answer
  8. I'm 95% certain the signed portion is so the same variable is used for costs at stores etc, as for drops, which is why I didn't suggest that route.

    trade off market for 3 billion inf = zero inf destroyed
    trade on market for 3 billion inf = 300 million inf destroyed

    I'm not sure I agree with the OP's conclusion, but that is the rationale behind it
  10. I may well make an optimized 'gun runner' or two once I see how it plays out for myself and if necessary for friends.

    BIG ASSUMPTION is that the side switching stuff is soloable. Most of my playtime now is outside peak hours and I tend to solo a lot in it.

    The missions with 20+ glowies and 20+ hostages purely to get badge credit that used to exist and now do not, tend to disagree with that position.

    Just because they weren't XP farms, doesn't make them any less of farms.

    Rather than getting the badges overtime people just made easy missions for credit and clogged the system,

    I have a mercs/traps (At 42 IIRC), I have a lot of fun with him. Not as much as I do with my necro MM, but certainly enough to keep playing him.

    I don't think its the most potent primary, but its certainly not terrible.
  14. An SG mate of mine has a netbook that he sometimes runs COH on (Minimum settings and almost nevers teams when on it.)

    GR and beta

    What happened for the COV beta was:

    1) 'normal' server was kept up and running for any incremental patches.
    2) The COV test server install overwrote the normal client install.

    Obviously there was no server transfers into COV testing, ans no-one had villains available.

    There are very good reasons for keeping test available for incremental patches during the much longer beta for a boxed expansion testing.

    Without a redname answer one way or the other, we simply don't know at this time. It makes sense to me that we could transfer characters to the GR test, but there is nothing official either way.

    Several types of PVP IO are regularly going for greater than 2 billion off market, either in direct inf or inf + other stuff.

    They are going for exactly 2 billion if one is placed on the market, with many bids at that price.
  17. I'm very much into reading that blog, as an insight into the designers mind.

    Rate of reward, and especially the distribution of that in play is something that can be looked for and controlled. You really want a continuous distribution, not necessarily a true 'normal' in stats terms, but you certainly want to avoid a heavily skewed bimodal, where one particular way of playing has a so much greater rate of earning.
  18. I still have characters that haven't converted their inventory to brainstorms. Mainly lesser played alts on 'other' servers. I ought to see if anyone pays crazy prices for what they have.
  19. There is a code reason why 2 billion is the cap. It is a non-trivial task to change it from a 32 bit integer to a 64 bit one, that is frought with the downside possibility of missing an obscure one and seeming randomly wiping out peoples fortunes.

    The maximum for a signed 32 bit integer is 2 147 483 648 rounded down to the 2 billion inf we have. In the early days of the game there was no cap, and people passed the coded maximum and ended up with negative 2 (and change) billion inf.

    This was obviously a bad thing.

    For all put an extreme minority of players 2 billion is more than is ever needed, and so any change to the cap has potential massive downsides and limited upside.


    Despite all that I still think it is time to examine the cap, I am just trying to put down the reasons why it is unlikely.

    Having had a day filled with discussion on quantum mechanics (Electron tunneling, Molecular orbitals and Heisenberg uncertainty principle), that's an interesting read.

    Not sure I agree with it, but its a decent enough theory at first glance. Needs testing with more data though.

    I am afraid I have to trump this.

    The Universe is tending towards increasing entropy, and cooling towards absolute zero. Even when the sun dies, the universe will continue, for a while.

    it really isn't that hard if you approach it with a truly open mind, and a tiny bit of knowledge.

    Swap out one Acc and one dam for 2 Acc/dam/recharge triples

    You get the same acc boost, the same dam boost and one whole 'bonus' recharge enhancement.

    ADR not available ? drop in an ADE for splitting the 'bonus' between end and recharge.

    It is especially easy with melee and ranged attacks due to the large amounts of sets there.

    Here is my hint for ones to try this with:

    Melee
    Focused smite and Crushing Impact ADR

    Ranged
    Ruin and Thunderstrike ADR
