Guide to a Small, Steady Income Redside
How can you turn 50 000 inf into a small, steady income stream for your Villans - its actually fairly easy.
First of all the Caveat:
As with all market guides, the details on prices movements and availability are subject to change., look into something before you leap ahead and go full throttle with it.
If you have more than 50K inf, make multiple enhancements at the same time.
The best time to start this is whenever you want to do so, but there are two good reasons to be at least level 12.
1) More market slots and recipe inventory opens at 12
2) you can run the university tutorial and get a free level 15 to start the process.
I have used this method now on 4 characters to get their first couple of million and its as much a part of my plan for a new character as their build is. Taking that starter pot and going to more advanced market play is beyond the scope of this Guide.
There are as of the time of writing five common IOs with enough throughput at the low levels, and at sufficient pricing that this works. Throughout, Im going to talk about endurance reductions specifically.
The same ideas can be used on Accuracy, Damage, Endurance modification and Recharge.
With your 50K you bid 500-1000 for a spell scroll and Ancient Artifact. Place a lowball bid on a level 20 end reduction recipe (Table Price is 15 200 so under this = inf saved). This will likely not fill immediately, but should do overnight. Take the recipe and salvage and craft your enhancement. Place on the market at no less than break even (For a table bought recipe, and at 2000 inf for salvage this is 52 889 inf). It is likely this will not sell immediately, but again will likely do so overnight.
Repeat five further times, so you have crafted 6 level 20 enhancements. Then move to the level 15s. (Table Price is 3300 inf).
It is harder to make a lot of money on the 15s, but your break even point at that salvage cost is 13 222, and the enhancements do sell for that and more. The whole point of these 12 enhancements is to get the Battery Powered Badge. Now not only do you not need a recipe, your crafting cost has halved.
With the SAME 2000 inf salvage costs, your break even point on the memorized crafting* is 19 111 inf for level 20s and 5889 inf for the level 15s. You craft and sell at a similar price point as before, but now instead of breaking even, you are making inf each and every time.
*Note there is some confusion in the crafting table to this day. To get the benefit of the lower crafting costs use the memorized tab to create your enhancements. I default to hide unknown recipes when crafting to make this easier to find. The memorized tab has no buy button only a create button
Going into the long term revenue stream, you submit buy orders for your salvage to be filled overnight, place your crafted enhancements on the market and go and do other stuff, in game or out of game.
If competition gets too tight, then look to diversify into another type of recipe through memorizing that or another tier of the same recipe. At least one back-up is sensible for if the competition for sales gets too intense.
The other thing, it only takes a few people not to exercise sensible pricing to mess up the market for others. This is the issue with most of the other types of recipes, someone going for field crafter and accepting a loss, just to clear their inventory can block sensible priced sales for days at a time due to a lower throughput.
The other types of enhancement do have slightly different memorization requirements,
http://cityofheroes.wikia.com/wiki/G..._Crafter_Badge has a great summary of the requirements for a particular enhancement and level split, which I use all the time.
Funnily enough this is much easier to do redside, blueside the raw salvage is normally more expensive and the competition intense. Getting the memorization badge is going to take an inf investment, and cannot be done with just a 50 000 inf kitty to start you off. -

Oh but they imcreased the animation times on Stone Melee for no reason, what a great waste of time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or so they can fit the Stone melee animations in with the upcoming Shield defensive set. But dont take BaBs word for it at all. -

Hmm logged in both my accounts (the second I want to change to mirror my first) and I'm not seeing any option to rename. What am I missing?

Its not been granted until Friday. -
The change goes through immediately on your friends list, I had a Gfriend use his token just a week or so ago.
-
Respec re-grant, definitely the right thing to do.
More costume tokens - meh for me, but my wife is very excited. Her exact comment is 'great but can they give us a 6th costume slot please.'
Global name flag reset - Something I would like to see annually.
Thanks NCNC -

PS. Chase is still barred from caffiene for another week. I can only handle so much at a time.

Im at 5 for 5 on the TF now, only once - and my only time on live with a majority of SG/Coalition mates in the team.
Interestingly, each time in the final fight we have used different tactics according to the team make up.
Eg the time with twin tanks we could seperate the nictii easily, this last run with heavy ranged damage we just zapped the he4lzor from range and brute forced it. -

Once again, you've outdone yourself Chase. You and Cinder did an excellent job of covering the majority of the new stuff in I12 without giving away any real spoilers.
[/ QUOTE ]
And a day after I sent it in I was swearing, "how the heck did I miss the "convert 3 glowies into the one of your choice" and "I Forgot to fit in FREEM! HOW COULD I FORGET FREEM!" "badges? I never got Imperius' Task Force completed! I missed badges!"
[/ QUOTE ]
This is forgiveable. There is so much fun in I12 esepcially in the QOL stuff that missing a few things is par for the course.

At that point, Cinder switched me to decaf.

This however is not....
Great work you two.
Id love to see the I11 eventually, but fully understand that your priorities were elsewhere at the time. -
Laaaaaaagggg
On one hand I am loooking forward to a few old friends popping in.
On the other hand it would have been nice to have this, the first weekend, to work on I12 content before being distracted by them popping - say mid-TF.
On the gripping Hand obviously tying the reactivation to a 3 day weekend in the US is good marketing sense
On the left foot the server 'stability' after each issue is a problem for a patch or two. (By stability I mean zone times, disconnects and the general ctach all of slightly under optmoised code) and getting the folks back at this time can give an unrealsitic impression of the servers.
On the right foot I have a sock with a picture of mickey mouse.
I'll be sending a few pokes out, but my feedback and suggestion is to not do these sorts of events until one patch post an issue relase in future, for all our sanities. -
BUG found:
When running Lost and Found on a 6 person team, everyone on the team got a mission complete credit for each hunt.
This meant by doing the hunt 20 synchronised we each got 6 mission bonuses. It may be an unavoidable side effect of having a badge tied to the hunt. -

Here's something I experienced while doing Montague's arc...specifically, Curing the Lost. I was teamed with three others, all calling in our mish completes as we went, except I forget to call in after people craft their wands. I crafted my wand, but before I could call for the Cure the Lost mish, the others had already started curing Lost in Perez, so I went to join them. I had my wand in my tray, and used it once before the team had cured 20 people. I received the badge, and then used my wand one more time before it disappeared from my tray. I called Montague to get the Cure mish for myself, but having no more salvage to craft another wand, I had to skip the mish. I am able to get into the Club, like I'm supposed to.
Now, the end result didn't affect me in anyway, except I had to burn a Mission Skip. Is it intended for the wands for the whole team to disappear in this manner? It says you get 20 shots, and if team curing counts, than everyone had shots left in their wands. This might be an issue if someone used their Mission Skip recently, and has to wait 3 days to complete the last mission in the arc keeping them from getting in the Club. Again...not gamebreaking, but it can be an annoyance, and if it could be dummy-proofed (I take full responsibility for not keeping up with my contact calls. Was doing that all day today) a little further, it couldn't hurt.
[/ QUOTE ]
I came accross (and bugged that) on test. The work around I used on my team last night, was to make sure everyone stayed still, until we had all got the wand, then all called and got the hunt.
etc.
Side effect is theres a lowbie in our SG who has both badges before level 10. -

Alright, here's my feedback.
The content balance for this issue sucks.
Villains get less than half the number of Midnighter missions that heroes get, and the Origin of Power story arc is completely absent. Villains can only get the Midnighters missions at 30 while the heroes get them at 10.
The content imbalance was already marked before this, what genius decided to make things this way? Those of us who play villains exclusively are totally screwed over. Thanks tons.
[/ QUOTE ]
Villans do have the Origin of power arc available. I ran it on a couple of people on test.
Ashley McKnight offers it as well as the intro arc. On test I ran it at level 10-20. Not sure if that was changed later.
Darrin Wade (20-30) has a new and very villanous feeling arc tied to the midnighter club content.
So redside gets two shorter arcs over the longer heroside one, plus the mini-arc for the origin.
Please get you facts right before ranting. -
Bought 5 for myself and 5 for my wifes account.
Lucnhtime the purchase took a while and didn't eventually through.
Tried again this evening with no issues.
Thanks for this option.
And curses for giving me worse altitis. I may never hit 50 again. -

Catwhoorgs Guide to the CaP SF
Contact is Virgil Tarikoss, in Cap Au Diable (-2800, 238, -528) the strike force requires a team of 4-8 and has a level range of 15-20.
For Black Market Liberation Squad (BMLS) runs, I aim for a team size of 5-6. A Stalker (or full invisible) with recall is a huge help for a fast run on this strike force. The Macros in Italics are obviously Triumph focused and are to ensure the team understands what is going on.
If you are totally focused on getting the Pool C drop as fast as possible, you can leave the team leader at the contacts for missions 1 through 3 to eliminate the travel time.
Generally, this SF will take much less than an hour, crafting an empowerment stealth (and maybe knockback) in your SG base should give you stealth (or KB protection) for the whole SF.
Using this method I routinely run in under 45 mins, and have hit the 30 min time with a few lucky placements.
Mission 1: Stop the Legacy Chain Auguring always in the South of the Zone.
Defeat all Legacy chain in an office map. This is a good chance to gel the team, and get the tactics for fights down pat. Map is variable from a small selection.
Mission complete Macro: Head North
The team leader heads back to Tarikoss, the rest of the team moves to the North of the zone.
Mission 2: Find Reason behind Circle Attack defeat boss group and rescue the Foreman this mission is always in the North of the zone, somewhere between the University and the radio station.
Macro: We have a specific Hostage to find the Foreman and the defeat the boss group. MMs hold you pets until we are ready for the boss group
The stealthers find and rescue the hostage. The find and summon the team to the boss fight. The map is the normal PTS map, and the foreman is in one of three, spawn locations. The boss group can be in one of three spots, and with experience a stalker can scan the spots fast.
One tricky location is just to the West of the silos/storage tanks, it is easy to overlook the Boss group in that location.
Mission complete Macro: hang loose
The Next mission occurs in a similar area to the 2nd one.
Mission 3: Retrieve Padre Henri's Journal from Legacy Chain find a glowie, defeat boss group (Note; NOT boss room). The glowie is usually in the final room, but occasionally is elsewhere, even on a different floor.
The office map is variable from a small selection
Macro: Wait for TP to final room.
Mission complete Macro: Back to the Contact
All the rest of the missions use the arcane portal next to Virgil.
Mission 4: Prevent Circle from Controlling Bat'Zul Glowie in boss room, and Boss group. Mission is always on the same Oranbenga Map.
Macro: Wait for TP to final room
If you have no recaller, head left at the first junction and keep heading South. You may catch a patrol, but there is usually only a single group between the door and the boss room.
Mission 5: Find Method to Pierce Barrier Escort Technician to the Computer Terminal
Macro: Find the Technician, and escort to the Computer Terminal. The Terminal is always in the room on the 2nd floor. The Technician can be anywhere on the map. Please turn Shadowfall OFF now
This mission is one where the variable spawn nature can be great or can bite you badly. The Ideal technician placement is inside the 2nd floor room, good placements are on the straight path to there. The Technician can even spawn on the 3rd floor.
Once the Technician is rescued, there will be wave attacks afterwards. The person who he is following just breaks for the computer and goes, let the team deal with the ambushes.
If he is on the 3rd floor, clear the route of longbow to ease the journey for sure. Others consider on a case by case.
Phase shift, hyperphase (Warburg) or the ethereal shift (Black Market 5 uses) gives you a full 30 seconds of immunity, which can be the difference between a straight run or a mess.
Mission 6: Bind Bat'Zul 5 Altars remaining Defeat Infernal, Bind BatZul.
Cats: way
Macro: Stealth to the altars, WATCH THE LAVA it destealths you. Rest of us clear the groups here, and fight Infernal
The steather, goes after the Altars. He may need help if there is a large group surrounding one. He can pop several lucks (or use the Demonic Accoldae power) and roll the dice and avoid being it hopefully, he may be able to break line of sight (LOS) by using terrain The Altar itself can break LOS if you kneel down.
Additionally by targeting the glowie and use interact you can often be further away than using the blue hand.
Meanwhile the rest of the team takes down Infernal (hey he is an AV so lots of XP/inf and a good drop chance), then if needed comes to the aid of the stealthier if the come across lots of altars with mobs round them.
There are waves after Infernal is defeated, and again after all the altars are clicked. BatZul will appear after a couple of these waves. Choose your ground to fight him and pull him.
There are several ways to pull him, I typically use a ranged attack. Others include dipping into the lava where the purple triangles are circling, after you see his dialogue appear
*BUG* BatZul goes crazy with certain toggle debuffs on him. Pull into a confined space to minimizes this. This Bug is fixed in I12. Until then do not use toggle pull methods.
Alternative way:
Stealther goes for the altars, clear the front groups but dont fight Infernal. Pull BatZul to Infernal and watch/join in the fight. Defeat the winner who is down to half health or more.
Badge Awarded:
Binder of Beasts
Mission complete Macro: This CaP run brought to you courtesy of the BMLS. Check out the Market Forum for more details. Regular runs on Triumph are Monday and Wednesday. All runs are announced on Triumph Watch.

No problem at all here Jules with the downlaods.
They have kept me entertained as I have been having a grand clear out in my office at work. -
Nice interview. Thanks for the downlaod version.
Hope your 'wipe out' from the Meds gets better soon Jules. -
The Credit card thing has been touched on before in the past.
The spammers have a large number of credit card numbers on file (from buyers) and happily use them to validate trials in other games. -
Anyone can see notes ?
No way - its far to open to griefing. -
I agree with TonyV on this. I see it asked almost weekly.
-
New ways.
I really hope a Spam/report option in the E-mail interface is one of them.
The tells are one thing, but backspace and switch the /t to /ignorespammer.
Keep up the fight folks, they will adapt and evolve, but make it another games problem, by making it more pain than its worth here. -
I would assume that as this is part of the I12 stuff, they will come with actual the I12 patch.
