  1. I just dont see the need as free costume tokens come so often in the vet program.

I get what your saying, but I have a soft spot for new people.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Same here. I spent the entire evening on a lowbie going through the basics with a brand new player this week. They were level 4 IIRC when we started and 8-9 when we finished with a flight pack.

During that time I had a few folks suggesting we run 'something higher' and sidekick him. A suggestion I resisted. The low levels the first few times are the training wheels and vets 'helping' newbies by getting them past that are really no help at all.
  3. The basic outline of the changes was posted in April, 'hidden away' in a thread that reached 39 pages (at 50 posts per page).

Somewhat more than a few players chimed in then, and the entire playerbase ha the opportunity now, but actually go on test and play it.

I know I was very pleasantly surprised by the changes, but then again I don't have a perma-dom let alone a Dom stacking Dom.

I believe the final mission of Sarah Moore's TF is in just such a map.

    This is indeed the case.

Yea true i didnt think about the ghost thing. Well then just ignore that post. How about this idea in game the days last half as long as in real life so a day cycle would be 6 hours and then a night cycle would be another 6 hours. Then you have the same amount of time and day and night is longer than it is now. and there would be two cycles per day.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The downside of that, someone who say play 8-10 each evening would only see day or night, unless you created a cycling of the timing.

    Customization?!

Its basically the language they use to talk to the graphics cards.

Are your vidcard drivers upto date ?
  9. The Steadfast specials both work down to 3 levels below that of the enhancement
  10. Confusion resistance is part of the purple triangles.

    +50 Mag when up.
  11. Mind/something Dom thats for sure. You have to face the phalanx one at a time.

the /something would want Power buildup I think for extra duration on the holds and one or two very high DPA attacks.

Both ultra-rares and the PvP sets provide substantial basic boosts not subject to exemplaring. In addition, the invention sets provide sometimes incredible set bonuses.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just a correction here, the buff the individual enhancements in PVP and purple sets give IS affected by the normal exemplar scaling mechanism.

The set bonuses are not affected by the level of the IO.

Purples especially the single type (ie Apoc: damage) get hammered by being reduced to 41.5% (from 53%), when exemping to 45 or less, and subsequent sclaing being based on that number.

How about a NARF (Not Actually Requested Fix)

    [/ QUOTE ]

But A fix was much requested..

so an AARF (Actually A Requested Fix)
  14. Random Rolls are random.

    http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Random_Rare_Recipe_Roll

Shows you whats in the pool, remember it is now weighted, and the 'popular' slotted sets such as damage ones, are significantly more likely than for example the confuses.

From my own posted experiments with the Pool A weighting the only mez types you see a lot of are holds and slows (slows can be slotting in most ice powers)
  15. Issue 14 sped up both hover and flight

My level 50 with 2 IO fly speeds wasn't quite speed capped before and now is.

I'm positive McD nuggets aren't actually food

    [/ QUOTE ]

There was the famous line in Red Dwarf when discussing three skeletal women (literally been dead for hundreds/thousands of years), in the episode where they rescued Kryten

'They have less meat on them, than a Chicken McNugget'

This was subsequently dubbed such that you couldn't really hear the 'Mc', but still knew it was there.

Apprantly McDonalds got upset and I guess no-one could prove that a Chicjen McNugget actually had ANY meat, so they didn't want to go to court just in case. As it was entirely possible that the bare bones had more meat than said nugget.

Honestly? I don't care about this issue at all.

They have expanded the Dev team -massively-. And so long as they don't start randomly firing them that means more money is going into CoH than has been for several years. It means that now we've got more designers and map editors, and power analyzers, and so on and so forth.

Assuming they all get between 40 and 90k per year in a salary we can pay -all- of their paychecks in a few months for the entire -year-. What do we expect the rest of the multiple millions we're putting into NCSoft's pockets to go? Hiring on -new- Devs? We've got 50ish and they're still hiring, aren't they?

We, as players, put about 18 million dollars into NCSoft's coffers on a yearly basis -jst- through subscriptions (assuming 100k players flat and $15 each) Assuming an AVERAGE of $50,000 a year per Developer and 50 Developers that's 2.5 million a year. Costs to maintain and upgrade (replace?) servers, Office Space and Supplies, Employee Events (such as team meetings in exotic locales or group vacations/meetings in Korea) and much much more would -still- cost about 5 million dollars combined with the employee salaries. That's spending 50k a -year- per employee on trips, office space, computer equipment, training...

So assuming that $5,000,000 a year goes into the CoH Dev team pocket for all their expenses over the course of the year that leaves NCSoft with a (are you ready for this?) $13,000,000 PROFIT. What are they gonna do with $13,000,000 a year off the CoH Franchise? Bank it? Or spend it to develop a new Golden Egg for the company?

    Which would -you- do.

    -Rachel-

The rule of thumb I was taught (back in the UK) was triple the salary to estimate total cost to the employer including overheads, with US health costs, that maybe an underestimate.

You also haven't factored in the server costs (depreciation of the actual servers plus the bandwidth). NCosft as a whole spent about 2.5 million US on their bandwidth in Q1 2009. $100 000/month would be a not unreasonable estimate just for Coh (8% of the total)
  18. Summoned Wolf Im guessing, Whould be wolf whistle (powername) or war wolf (summoned entity)

    The answer is no.
Thats a whole lot of Smashing/lethal/energy to which the red tower gives 105% resistance.

The 200% defence from the orange tower would also be tricky to overcome, esepcially as due to the AV resists and purple patch any defence debuff would be at of its effectiveness.
  19. My normal routine for a low level redisder

    Breakout, to level 2
Few mins down on the beach, to level 3.

Run Kalindas arc, Street sweeping anything close, Dropping the Contaminated mission on the farside of the map. That gets me to 5 or so. Then Port Oakes and 3 papers + safeguard.
  20. Tina is a level 40-45 contact.

You will have to run her arc via flashback.
  21. The pain that is the current respec system, is why I try to avoid using respecs at all.

In a given issue I'll maybe use one or two of the freebies. On a 50 its a huge pain, and yes I agree we should have a better more intuitive system
  22. Remember with Twins you can play man to man coverage, triplets you have to play zone defence.

  24. I find bronze rolls to to be quite lucrative, craft and sell the 'worthwhile' ones and vendor the trash.

Make sure to check the actual selling prices on the crafted IOs. Some sell for decent inf, even though recipes maybe cheap.
