    The Lone Bidder

I am frequently a lone bidder on lowbie sets, especially redside.

I do however try to make it worth the persons while, and floor my bid at 5*Vendor or so. Having a last 5 shoing > Vendor is a long term incentive for more people to list, if more people list, more people may buy and hopefully reveive the non-50 redside market.

    <--- is a dreamer, obviously
  2. As a benchmark, my latest 50 a sonic/sonic defender, levelled up primarily on mission teams and a few TFs, had 57 hours playtime all told. No PLing a few 'normal' AE missions if thats what the team was doing.

I think my Shield/Ax tank will be even ahead of that (currenly 46.9 so it wont be long).
  3. Doctored Wounds is my preference, nice +recharge for 5 pieces, and whilst popular it is an uncommon set, so it isn't that expensive.
  4. They are available in the MA to your hearts content.
  5. 2^31 = 2 147 483 648
31 bits used in the value and the one bit for a checksum in all likelihood.
(When dealing with rapidly changing important data you should ALWAYS checksum)

Changing from 32 bit to anything else would be non-trivial and I cannot forsee happening unless there was a pressing need from outside a few folks here.

2 billion is much more than enough for the vast majority of the playerbase, and a change could negatively impact everyone is it got messed up.

    Servers down

Well this is the 3rd thread I have seen asking the same question, so you didn't look very hard if ask me.

Its for a patch to hotfix stability issues, and the fact that the French and German player were unable to access their servers.

See the test Forum for the test patch notes, the live ones will likely read the same and be along shortly

    COMBINED

    Game

Addressed several bugs that were causing stability issues.

(Europe Only)Addressed a bug that prevented European players from entering the French and German servers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

People being locked out of the servers, any servers is very much worth a quick update if you ask me.
  8. The problem with subjective feedback boils down to, there is rarely a consensus in the reports on these topics.

In addition there is a self selection going on that people are more liely to post if the have a subjective issue, than if they dont. For every 1 subjective 'I dont like X because' there will be Y folsk who tried and simply dont give feedback because they like it the way it is.
  9. But did you purple the bandwagon, before or wafter jumping on it ?

This makes it impossible for casual 'pub band' members to purple out their wagons. They ought to fix that.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Because people won't invite you to do it unless you've come prepared with Shivans and nukes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thats an issue with those people, not with the game. Neither are needed at all.
  11. [ QUOTE ]

People have been, with a straight face, paying 300K for level 35 and 40 generic IO's for the last few months. Rech reduction, endmod, acc, dam, that I've personally made money on.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I got the 'magic' million inf for a common level 50 endrec. They were selling at about 500K, but sold out when I listed a block of 10, the first went for 1 million even. The other 9 sold out at decreasing prices down to that 500K. Thankfully I had the inventory of salvage to immediately craft another block of 10.
  12. Skydance has it.

Any team that takes 4 hours on a Citadel is pretty poor. Last time we ran it without goign crazy fast, it was 2 hours or so.
  13. PvP zones need a mini-game to differentiiate them from straight out arena type fighting.

Those are the mini-games, in each case an individual can get the shards/codes exclusively from PvP others. (someone has to get the code form a meteor to start the chain, but you can get them from otehrs who have).

So any chance of having them as rewards outside of those mini-games is slim.
  14. Last weekend I ran 8 Trials/TFs, mostly with coalition folks, but some with PuG members. Havign a core of people who play the way you like is essential.

As rule, we tend not to stealth that much, but beline from A to B in a defeat boss/guards mission defeating anything in our path. Exceptions would be Posi on principle, and some of those 7 floor Manticore misisons, or if it is gettign late and folks are feeling tired and want to just bully through.

So find yourself a group who feels the way you do, it makes the game a whole lot more fun
  15. For Hired Gun

Its 10 total craftings of Rechage and Interupt at level 10.

That can be 10 recharges or 10 interupts, or any combination of the two that adds up to 10.

When you get to mez ones for example it is any combination of: Sleep, Snare, Hold, Stun, Immobilize, Fear just as long as the levels are right.
  16. A reicpe memorisation badge allows you to:
    1) cratft without having the recipe dropped/bought
    2) provide ~50% discount to the crafting cost.

Memorising recipes outside of level 10s is done in pairs, (15-20, 25-30, 35-40,45-50). You have to craft form both levels to get the badge

In addition to the effects above two of the 'tiers grant extra inventory
    25-30 grants +2 salvage inventory
    45-40 grants +1 recipe inventory

    http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Gainin..._Crafter_Badge
has the summary requirements for each of the memorisation badges in one compact table

How about this instead? A discounted or free server transfer off of freedom and/or virtue to another less crowded server? I can totally see getting a few toons off there that I dont play that would get play time if they were in my sgs on other servers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No. People would move lesser played alts, and roll new ones that they actively play.
Actually making the situation worse in the short term

You're comparing apples to oranges. Baseball games and Flights are not a Monthly fee service.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of course its ridiculous as flying to another city to watch a game, is not the same as swapping to a different server.

Hopping to a differnet channel for a ball game (or NFL) because the local team is blacked out, is less of an strecth. I mean no-one ever does that do they ? [/sarcasm]
  20. Invincible (5th) is normal mob sizes and +2 levels

There is not a +2 levels and larger mob size setting
  21. [ QUOTE ]
    great post Dr. Mike.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Indeed. It must be the little things that are basically 'certain' that keep me going.

Getting the next inf badge say is a long long way off, but I do feel accomplished working towards that goal. Getting a PVP Io drop (when not bugged) would be much much short term, but is a) uncertain, and b) you aren't really getting other rewards when doing so.

As I said in the other threa I was in awe at Snappin's tenacity and stamina for his running his arena farms. I'll happily admit I must be just wired differently and accept I 'need' the staedy trickle of small stuff whilst working on a big payoff.
  22. Yep. Close to the MAN concept. I need to dig mine out and get another couple of levels on him.

The other restriction major on MAN builds was that only team with other MAN builds, basically to stop people leeching or PLing and claimed to have got a MAN build to 50.
  23. [ QUOTE ]

Just so you know i won't be logging off from Virtue that weekend provided the mapserver doesn't foil my plans. :P

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which makes you part of the problem, being logged in sat in your base say whilst you sleep would be stopping folks from getting on and playing.

The whole double XP weekend is a great example of the tragedy of the commons, where selfish behaviour by individuals, collectively messes things up for the whole.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
I'm not sure they'd touch Trial accounts lightly, as a lot of new players try a trial, spend some time away, remember about the game and THEN sign up. Having their old characters there sometimes helps, though in a lot of cases people just start over anyway. Plus, with all the restrictions put on them to prevent RMT spam, what's one more indignity? That, and Trials are a very easy magnet for names, as they're free and people can only use them for 15 days.

Come to think of it, it sounds like a smart plan. Trials are limited to 15 anyway, so I'd say put their names up for grabs at all levels after a sufficiently long time of not having been activated.

    *edit*
The "name purge" isn't actually a constant, ongoing process, it's a one-time script that puts names up for grabs once that has to be run manually. It hasn't been run recently, to the best of my knowledge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In the same discussion that Posi I referenced a couple of posts ago, the statement was made that they can (and do) wipe trial accounts separately.

I would like to think that perma-banned accounts also get wiped, but have no basis for that hope.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
I find a lot of good names.

Something needs to be done about names, though, because a lot of people don't have the time, patience, or desire to search through thousands of words to find one that isn't taken.

I suggest a scaling name purge system whereby the longer a person has their account deactivated, the higher level the toons are that have their names made available.

    For instance:

Account inactivity for three months results in level 5 and under characters having their names made available.
    Six months, level 10.
    Nine months, level 15.
    Twelve months, level 20.
    Fifteen months, level 25.
    Eighteen months, level 30.
    Twenty-one months, level 35.
    Twenty-four months, level 40.
    Twenty-seven months, level 45.
    Thirty months, level 50.

Maybe something a bit less drastic, even - it could go something like:

    1 year, level 10.
    2 years, level 20.
    3 years, level 30.
    4 years, level 40.
    5 years, level 50.

... and that would still free up thousands of excellent names on all servers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think it was Positron who posted the reason for the lowering for level 35, was that he had people coming up to him at cons and the like, saying that they were going to come back, but their favorite character had 'lost' their name, and it was a huge disincentive.

NCsoft has to balance this carefully. It is easier to get a customer back (and ex-customers are targeted specifically) with a non-draconiam policy such as the current level 6 cutoff.

Time (and dataminiing) will tell if this level drifts up, but the bulks of unusued names were (maybe still are) below that level 6 cutoff.
