What they have on the front page is pretty disappointing over all. It looks like a normal weekly sale with a great deal for new players. I was hoping for at least a slight discount on some of the account options like extra slots or costume slots. If the sale ends up being what is posted so far I will be a bit bummed myself.
  2. Great information with some really good news there. Thanks VK!

Nah, they are there, I saw one last night post three times in a row on the help channel.
  4. Death as a plot point is a core part of comics mythology, if it is often done badly it is only because comic stories broadly are often badly done. I have no problem with death as plot point, it is how well the plot point moves the story that matters. If the SSA is well done the death will an interesting story, if it is badly written it won't be the death that makes it badly written.

As for the original question, the only one I would hate to see go down is Back Alley Brawler. As a hero I like his back story, as a villain there is no one I like to beat more, as he has beaten me down in many fights.

As for the dislike of the surviving eight and other named heroes, I think a lot of that comes from the fact that they detract from our stories in the game. That is a big part of why I haven't tried the DC game, no character I make will ever surpass any of the named DC heroes, why should I try? In COH they do a better job of keeping the focus on the players, but too often the focus shifts us to secondary roles. We need 24 heroes to keep Desdemona alive in the underground trial, shouldn't that at least be one of the league? Statesman gets most of the hate because he sucks up most of the sunlight that we want to shine on our PCs.
  5. It is my honest suspicion that this is one of those 'legacy code' issues. No one really knows how it is all held together and they don't want to break it. That said, it is a needed part of the game, it is frequently a Weekly Task Force and thus is a really poor place to highlight bad design. Rather than rework it, a new one is fine, but if not how about
    • Enable PVP while in the reactor, folks can farm for pvp ios during the hours we wait for the next wave to attack.
    • Let us run the Dr. Quarterfield task force during the hours we wait for the next wave to attack.
    • Move all costume contests from Atlas Park to the reactor core so we can judge during the hours we wait for the next wave to attack.
    • Give us the option of speeding up the next wave in the Paragon store say 100pp a wave. It would be blackmail most foul, but I would pay it...
    • Praetorian raids, rikti raids, zombie invasions all could help pass the time during the hours we wait for the next wave to attack.
  6. Things to make the reactor section of the hero respec trial more interesting.
    • An in game ebook we can read War And Peace on during the hours we wait for the next wave to attack.
    • A floor show. Carnival can-can dancers circle the room while you wait hours for the next wave to attack.
    • Computer terminals so that our charcters can play MMOs while we wait for hours for the next wave to attack.
    • A trainer, Icon Outlet and Wentworths so we can do chores while we wait for hours for the next wave to attack.
    • A wacky candid camera monitor so we can watch the wacky hijinks of the next wave as they take hours to assemble for the next attack.
    • Online gambling for Paragon Points guessing which door the attack we are waiting hours to attack will will come from.
    • Mystery guests we can fight during the hours we are waiting for the next wave to attack.
    • AE Terminals so we can run missions during the hours we are waiting for the next wave to attack.
    • Ken Burns documentaries we can watch from end to end during the hours we are waiting for the next wave to attack.
    • The enemies to attack with shorter pauses between attacks.
  7. Yep. Also in the City Info Tracker site they have a low hanging fruit report that I find to be a great help on my badge hunting characters. It list the most common badges available that your character does not have yet.
  8. Yes you can, I assume you are using the Titan Sentinel, while in City of Heroes you call up your character information from the options menu while playing. I always click on the badge tab after I have it up, but I have been told I don't have to do that. This is all done within City of Heroes itself, by bringing up the character info you give the Sentinel client what it needs to know.

Once you have done that Titan Sentinel should update automatically next time you check in, but you can ask it do under the options menu in the Titan Sentinel client.

On my heroes I stop everything I 'see' happening. Normally this means right in front of me as all my heroes have poor peripheral vision. I will pass them up if on a timed mission however as the cities safety has to come first. I just can't resist intervening if I see an old lady surrounded by thugs.

That I disagree with. IOs take game time that I don't always have. I have a couple of guys IOed out, but many of my characters that I mutz around with have no IOs at all. SOs give you the choices to modify and flavor a power without spending real time on it. Keep them, just make the system simple.

    Makes sense to me.
This is where I would go with this. Three tiers plus IOs is pointless and needlessly confusing. It make take some adjustment to get the low level right with this in place, but given that we already have the effect of a perma DO from the Death From Below Trial, I think they have it in hand game balance wise.

I was chatting with a genuine new player the other day and remembering how confusing all this stuff really can be. Doesn't help, does detract, remove TOs.

  13. No plans to move. Hoping some old friends come back to the server as well.
  14. Flambeaux: It isn't easy being awesome and hot! I said hot because I have these great fire powers in case you missed that part, anyway I really like my mirrors to be shiny and all that so I have some lady clean them with Windex. Thanks to Windex I get to see how awesome I am really clear. Well until the windows get all sooty and junk.

I was going to whine that you got my phantom army but not me, but I am in the shot with Ms. Liberty and of course I have invisibility on, which may reduce my odds of showing up in screenshots..... Doh. Anyway I had fun slapping the Praets around, thanks for the photo gallery.

  17. Nice. My graphics are set to banana republic, yours are much nicer.
  18. As an emergency back up for tough AVs I always carry the Envenomed Dagger temp power as well and will mix it into my attack chain to slow the AVs regen. Don't normally need it, but solo or on small groups it has saved my bacon several times, once on a team that was struggling with Primal Duray.
  19. Thanks to everyone that came out. The next person that complains that there is nothing to do but trials gets no sympathy from me. We slapped around the Vahz, the Clocks and the Hellions and filled the zig up. Many a purse made it home safely thanks to the efforts of the heroes tonight. I had a great time and I hope everyone else did as well.

  20. Just a reminder that this is tonight. Come out and help, we will need everyone we can lay our paws on to pull this off.

My dog is terrified of thunderstorms but he was fine through the earthquake. He did come down and sit with my son and I during the quake itself, but before and after he was just as calm as can be.
  22. Idea wasn't mine, it was Guy_5's, I am just banging on the drum trying to get people out. Hopefully he will turn out and help us bash stuff. I am more of an Atlas guy myself, but hopefully this will be a fun send off and give us a cool Galaxy story to tell later.

It was the biggest the east coast has seen, but just a solid roll, no big snap at all. Lasted about a minute.
