Quote:Going Rogue will not have general case Diminishing Returns applied to PvE. There has been some discussion of enabling DR specifically on Debuffs for certain encounters, but that has largely been discounted at the current time. *IF* those specific encounters prove to be too easy in the Beta process, DR *may* be revisited as a solution but even then, it is unlikely due to the amount of supporting code that would be needed.I'm part of the doom-callers (not so secret) society of players that think GR is going to come with some very major game altercations like diminished returns implemented into the pve side.
TL;DR 99.9% sure there won't be PvE Diminishing Returns.
(Thanks for the PM's pointing me to this thread!) -
Quote:Different people. Now, if you really WANT animators to be poking around in the source code, we could arrange that, but I suspect the game would never compile again...I'm sorry and don't want to or mean to offend anyone but(personal opinion not meant to take shots at anyone)but they have time to add stupid **** like a walking toggle but can't fix Task forces from being stuck on easy mode. This is really disheartening for me and this is just how I feel I can't help it.
EDIT: Dangit, BAB's beat me. -
Quote:Working on it. They are updating the Update server with the correct client now, or so I am told.Test patched for me and seemed to work just fine, however this is the first time that I remember ever getting this error just after logging in and choosing the test server, which is green.
Wrong game version. run patcher and reconnect, server 1600.20091102.0 client 1600.20091015.6T
server page shows test as "unknown" which is common when there are not many on test and it's working. Sooo bugged or test just not quite patched yet -

Quote:Dunno...it's a toss-up. Either /enable_Edit_mode or `rosebudWhich would you use?
Now wait, before you just roll your eyes and say "What a load of crap" or "I'd quit", hear me out. I'm not just talking god-mode here, or infinite inf, although those are possibilities too. I mean any cheat, from any game. Sometimes they actually make a game harder (or impossible), or just allow you to do silly stuff after you've already won the game once, to extend the replay value a bit or just mess around. Or just to see just how badly you can break the game.
Here are some possibilites from various games, adapted somewhat for Co*.
- God mode
- Infinite inf
- All contacts available, no level restrictions.
- All powers available from your sets. You can pick a tier 9 at creation if you like.
- ALL powers in the game available, limited only by their level restrictions. In other words, if you've always wondered what a Fire/Regen Blaster would be like, or a Necro/Kin MM. Or a Kin/Necro Defender with Fireball, Integration, and Oppressive Gloom!
- All unlockables, including costumes and weapon skins.
- All TEMP powers only.
- reservoirdogs, my personal pick, and why I think so fondly on the PS1 era game Oni. It made enemies attack each other just as readily as they attacked Konoko, using all their various special moves. It was hilarious to see a cutscene of a bunch of thugs running in and saying "Let's get her!" and then start beating the crap out of each other. (It was only available when you had already beaten the game once.)
- Heaven or Hell mode (also available in Vagrant Story). Everything in the game has ONE hit point, including you. It's the ultimate gamble. You'll just play a Fire Blaster you say? Ahh, but there's always that 5% chance....
- /fallingdamageisdeadly 1. /knockbackdistance 10000.
Obviously you can also make up your own code. Perma-Invis? Perma-Hasten? Inherent Stamina and Health? No end crash on nukes? Infinite endurance? Break the game, fix the one little problem you've always had, or wallow in I Wanna Be The Hero/Villain 3D. -
Quote:If you go all the way from Villain through Rogue to Hero, then you can use WW. Conversely, a Hero who goes all the way to Villain can only use the BM.If our option with GR is to play on blue side but still have to shop red side and are unable to pass insps, enhancements, recipes, and salvage back and forth between red and blue then it isn't worth the money to buy GR. We have all ready mostly abandoned red side, our only real interest is preserving the characters.

It's (obviously) not impossible, but it has been EXTREMELY time consuming getting it to work. I believe the Dual Pistols animations took about 1/5th of the time that the Whip attacks have taken...and there were more animations required in that set!

Caps are tied to AT. Powers that summon pets use the Pets AT modifiers. While we can manually adjust scales to mimic the effect of AT mods on the class tables, we do not have the capability of doing that with Max values; the Caps.
In addition, both Lightning Rod and Shield Charge are highly modified powers. They do not follow the normal rules, for a variety of reasons, the largest being the fact that they are not designed to be used as part of a normal attack chain. If you do use them as part of an attack chain, that's great, but they are not intended to be used that way. -

Yes, but were you ever able to accurately calculate your Carrying Capacity? (The math formula and the English explanation thereof contradicted one another...I have both the first release and the Revised Edition rulebooks here at my desk!)
As for Bill Willingham, I've been a fan of his since I read "The Elementals" way back when. Very good series that was ahead of its time, thematically.
Scott Kurtz is indirectly responsible for my working here, believe it or not. One day way back when, he posted a link to this game he had heard of called "City of Heroes" on his site and I've been following the game since, first as a fan and later as a developer.
Rooster Teeth? Well, those guys are just Awesome! -

Quote:A bit of both.My guess would be that it is either his personal opinion that there are too many options for defense which is not necessarily shared by his colleagues, or that he feels that there should have been less of that sort of thing from the very beginning but now reducing those would constitute a major nerf to far too many characters.

Quote:Key the Metal Idol reference for the win.Don't worry, they need 30,000 friends before that happens, and since everybody knows* this game is dying, they'll never reach that threshold.

Quote:I won't argue the Hess aspect; I don't know what changed there or why any more than you do. It sounds like someone dropped the ball, certainly.Find a better way to get the reporting system to the people who can and want to help you is my point. The fact that Hess and Katie were screwed up isn't the root of the problem, it's a symptom.
However, the issue of Katie not following properly is a flat out bug. There's no way we can provide you with documentation on a bug, since by definition it shouldn't have happened, period. -
Quote:This is true. Nothing I've read in this thread provides me with sufficient detail to try and track down what's going on, aside from Katie's odd following behavior. I *think* I know what caused that...but there are 2 or 3 possibilities. And, for the record, none of those possibilities was intended to make the task forces any harder.OP, I would suggest to you that instead of ranting about bugs/undocumented changes, perhaps you should provide detailed bug reports so the devs can address your complaints, rather than rambling about irrelevant topics and calling the devs out for non-existent shadiness.
I'm still completely unclear on what the issues with the Hess TF are because instead of describing the problem in detail, you chose to make every other sentence an attack on the devs. -

The only way I would be ok with build switching without visiting an NPC would be:
- Set Player Health 1
- Set Player Max Regeneration 0, duration 60 seconds.
- Set Player Max Endurance 0, duration 60 seconds.
- Set all powers state to Initial Recharge.
- Wipe all Buffs/Debuff on character.
In other words, we do NOT want players to be able to situationally change power selections. -

Quote:Amusingly enough, the "Charge" power that Blue Mito's use is exactly the power "Charge" power Famine uses. As in, he actually calls the same power, with the same limitations. Sounds like you had a particularly bad streak of luck -- after the 3rd jump, any bolt has a 75% chance of not jumping again. It appears that the never-ending chain lightning from the Blue Hamidon Mito blasts may be back. Or it may be only back for one reuse of that same effect from a different mob.
One of the Rikti War Riders in the Lady Grey Task Force, Famine, uses this attack. Once my LGTF team was hit by it, it lasted for the rest of the map on which Famine appears. -
