boards.coh.com does not automatically redirect to boards.cityofheroes.com
After login, it redirects to boards.cityofheroes.com
Any click thereafter goes BACK to boards.coh.com for which there is no cookie and thus site navigation goes boom.

This post was made from the home rig over remote desktop by logging directly into boards.cityofheroes.com

Now all I have to do is figure out WHY the redirect from boards.coh.com is not happening immediately as it should be happening.

Is coh.com even valid for this site? Never knew that.

I'd stick to the "proper" one : boards.cityofheroes.com and use it all the time if possible.
  2. What domain name are you using to access the boards Bill?

Can you disable Automatic Redirection and see if there's any cross-domain jumping going on?
  3. I just used it (or rather a pair of them) as a Rename for one of my Praetorian characters.

    I concur.

    And brains of course.

DA with a Founders style make-over & TF would be awesome.

Red side I was going to say Sharkshead, but St Martial is indeed dull and needs it more. As is it's like Brickstown, a non-descript, dull zone. It's like the designers were running low on ideas.

    Ambushes - FFS

I've gotta agree here. Was doing the "Lure [insert name here] out" mission last night (can't remember her name but she had a red afro and hit like a truck) and it was one of those "get to the end of the map and click a glowie" style missions.

Oh. My. Gawd. The carnage. I've never seen so many ambushes. I got late to the party and was hiding in a corner when 2 Syndicate guys spotted me. Followed by the rest of their spawn. Followed by another ambush spawn. Followed by another ambush spawn of Resistance. As I lay on the ground I counted another Resistance Spawn Ambush heading off to massacre my team-mates.

I like a challenge and all but this was horrific.

There's also a lot of "ambush pops into existance around you" moments which brought me right back to my Doom 1 days. Rather silly.

Now granted, when CoV first came out, the Real Numbers didn't exist, and I stopped playing the Robo somewhere in the early 30's, so I never got to Dark Servant. I don't know if the launch version has always had an 8 minute timer, but it would make sense from a design standpoint.
It did, it's always been like this since Beta.

There's a fine line between challenge though ("THE GHOULS ARE COMING" AAAAAH! *Desperate Fight*) and boring. (*waits around for HP/End/Rest to recharge*)

Lastly, I also feel that the lack of NPCs to alter difficulty enhances the issues. With difficulty modification, those on less solo capable AT's have their option to have things at an easier pace, and those on the more capable could up theirs if they liked the risk.
This is how I feel too. I sorta know why they didn't add the Diff Modifier contacts from the off, because people would slap it up to +2 without thinking and people would REALLY be complaining but my Elec Domi wishes I could knock the diff down by one and not be getting my face clawed off by 4 +1 Ghouls at level 8.

Like I've already said I feel the devs developed level 20 enemies and scaled them down but left their powers and abilities mostly intact.

To counteract I rolled a Fire/Dark corrupter (damn you Silas for sowing that seed in my head) and have been clearing up since. She welcomes those continued ambushes with open arms. Except the ones that just pop into existence around you. That's just silly looking (sorta handy though if Tar Patch is still hanging about, idiots).

Haven't found End to be an issue on any characters though, not dying horrifically solo has been my chief issue for the fledgling Elec Domi and even my Broadsword/Fire scrapper (both level 8 or 9).

I've noticed most teams are very offensively based as well at the mo, there is a noticable lack of support characters being rolled, so on teams I think people are getting in over their heads and those coming from a Hero PoV aren't quite used to not being able to fend for themselves (another reason my Fire/Dark is getting on so well).

This advice stands for any Brute before you get SOs. Slot all your attacks with 2 Accuracy and as many End Reductions as you can and let Fury worry about the Damage. And with Stone make sure you take Stone Fists. The other powers are so slow to recharge you need it (and Brawl, keep Brawl on auto as it costs no End and adds to Fury)

I found my Dark/WP to basically be an unkillable machine.

Once you've gotten your Brute at the level where he can keep on trucking without stopping for Rests I find they solo about as well, or even better, than Scrappers (since their higher defenses mean you can get away with silly things. My Dark/WP has jumped into situations where I thought "Well now I'm dead, didn't spot that pair of +2 bosses in there as well" and come out alive).

As others mention Masterminds have finer control over their Pets and can issue them orders.

Imps are ADD lunatic children and will attempt to claw the face off anything within their perception range. However they are "leashed" to you as Peacemoon says so you can wrangle them somewhat by ensuring you don't get too close.

They are the worst offenders of the Controller pets because they don't have ranged attacks and are quick moving. So they'll frequently rush into one spawn to attack and then spot another and go "Oooh, look. I'll get them instead".

You get used to it and you generally have the tools as a Controller to deal with it (Flashfire and Cinders are gold).

For my elec/ice its gold, especially since its cheap to slot and will take one or two handy procs.

So yeah for something like Earth assault it may be overshadowed but for me its another layer of soft control.

Mind you it was given a straight damage buff, not DoT I wouldn't complain bit for a domi I'm not crying out for it. Maybe more damage for the first strike, to help out controllers.

The update/launcher loads up, but does not download patches and the graphics that are in the box come up as Windows cannnot show webpage again from the DNS.

Im completely lost as to what to do. I do use a router, so maybe it needs to be rebooted? Im not sure, and Im not techy really.

NCsoft pages opened just fine for me to make my account and buy a 6 month package. but even it's slow.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Ps. I did open a ticket to customer service already but have yet to hear back

What side of the pond are you on, US or EU?

Their DNS has been flakey recently, without any acknowledgement of the issue from anyone at NCSoft here (which is pretty chronic).

There are three separate options available to you if you feel you need another respec, use them.

As is isn't that impossible since you cannot have more than one freespec?

And from a business point of view why would one do that when the small subset of people who use Dual Builds and need to respec both can either run a Trial, buy an IO or just spend some RL monies on the second one.

I have not picked a build yet...as for I have to level some on my Tanker tonight to get to Shark Head Isle ...then it's on to defender.

Before I pick, I want my defender to offer some solid support for big teams...and I am undecided if I should even go down the dark path . I have a corruptor I love already. DP/Dark he does a great job in heals and dps. This time I want to be more support less dps for future teams on Villains.

Throw me some pros and cons you Defenders.... I would love your input.
Plant/Emp controller. Excellent levels of support, decent control & decent damage via Seeds, Creepers and the AOE Immob. And a stupid planty thing pet (which is Ok since you can heal it and Fort it to keep it alive).

Or a Traps Defender maybe. They offer decent levels of support without you feeling like Mr Buffbot. Traps/Ice is one character I have on my radar to try, eventually.

That cartoon makes having to get up early on Saturday mornings to provide breakfast worthwhile. I've managed to divert my 3 year olds attention away from Dora towards it which is great.

Blofelds volcanic base is, for me, #1. Syndrome was just an homage to it.

Really? This is very interesting so. In that case i'd slot it in Jolting anyway, since it's so quick and you reuse it a lot and any other AOE knockback powers you might have and use a lot.

But then again I'm a bit of a junkie for that PROC.

I am liking Elec Control at the mo but I do love Dark Miasma a lot and at the moment from what I've seen Praetorian teams seem a tad melee heavy, coupled with lots of Elec Control and a Dark Miasma would fit in well, not to mention that Fire Blast would be a bit easier to use with the lag I've been getting.*
