30 dollars? You guys are being gouged. I'm paying 10 euros a month for a 5Gb limit (which I never even get close to).
I love my HTC Desire. Music Player & Radio, GPS and Maps, random spur of the moment photos, browsing the web to check things like bus times or buy tickets for gigs when someone mentions an upcoming one when I'm out and about. Plus it has a fully formed Speccie 48 emulator linked to a site with 1000s of games on it. Score! -
The stuff we are allowed to know is probably in the Training Room patch notes which have been up for a week(ish).

Quote:Ice is just a bit dull I found. I might retry it but I gave up and moved onto more exciting combos, Ices main issue is the mediocre damage, coupled with nothing particularly flashy to look forward to in it.Alright I used to play a Plant/plant dom back in the day. I have barely touched it but I did like the Dom class to dabble with.
Now I have just leveled high enough in Electric/Empathy Controller to get a good feel for Electric use. I think I am ready for something different now that isn't healing in between.
Now I have ruled out Thorn (dots), Fire (Dots), and heavy melee types of secondary like Earth.
I am mulling over going PSi or Ice now. Pros and cons with Electric Holds ...can yah provide some input of your experiences? I am not wanting anything that is melee heavy (when it comes to best skills on the AT Secondary). I am wanting more ranged that can compliment my electric primary.
PS: Team only player...I will never solo honestly.
There's a bit of synergy between Elec and the additional aura and early PBAOE attack in Ice, and some nice, quick animations, but overall I found it underwhelming.
Psi is nice as a secondary (I've an Ice/Psi), Static Field & Drain Psyche would be an excellent, safe method of maxing out the drain. You will be to-and-fro in and out of melee though, Psis two biggest hitters are melee attacks when levelling.
Edit : I think I'm going to chance Thorns personally. It was my gut choice when heard about Elec Assault coming and one I want to retry (very first villain was a failed Fire/Thorns), I'm aware of the lack of synergy between the sleep and the DoT but at least they'll be able to do decent damage. -
Quote:I'm not sure I understand the first line, but it's exactly the same AOE as my Scrappers Blazing Aura.its range is 1ft over the usual melee range of 7 for doms, so it doesnt give alot of wiggle room like tanker of scrapper damage toggles to have them spread out in melee.
Earth is pretty end heavy too, even slotted sensibly (that is just SOs tho, should get better when I IO up) so I find i've better things to waste my endurance on. Also with APPs theres alot of choice for AoE thats better than mud pots.
I'd agree with the second point though, it's End Expensive and a Domi probably has more useful options to take. Jolting Fences is certainly one of them, amazingly useful and cool looking power (and very interesting PROC options IMO). -
That's the problem with bad Masterminds. They're more prone to aggroing extra spawns than any other AT really. And surviving, which is the irritating thing, they don't even die for their sins and thus (hopefully) learn to rein their pets in a tad.
On the plus side you do now get VEATs hero-side too, and they make up for it
Quote:My Fire/Dark corrupter will cast it where ever makes most sense in terms of hitting max number of baddies with it. Which could quite feasibly be the exact same place you decided to drop Sleepie-nighty-snoozey-snooze. Mind you it's going on top of Fearsome Stare and Tar Patch and there's a Fireball and Breath of Fire following it up, so I too would be perplexed if it was just a RoF and no follow-up AOEs to finish the job.(P.S. If you are a member of the Church of He Who Casts Rain of Fire In a My Neighbor's Sleep Patch and Follows It Up With Nothing, I must admit I hold some prejudice against your faith. Freedom of religion is sacred to me but your method of worship leaves me perplexed. Perhaps someone can school me in the mysteries of that faith?) -
Last night it took 35 minutes for GM_P_Leonard to help me with a buggy mission where freeing the last hostage didn't trigger the mission end.
I was very impressed with how quickly they responded and how swiftly he checked the mission and confirmed the bug before triggering the complete for me.
Thank heavens because my Complete Mish timer was still had 2 more days to elapse and I didn't fancy fighting those wretched Clockwork again.
I've a feeling there's some bug (maybe related to the cross-faction attacking bug) which is killing off the hostages rather than rescuing them as I had the same sort of bug with the "Get food for Ghouls" mission, last hostage was dead when I arrived at his spawn location and clearing his spawn and the rest of the map did nada. -
Quote:The Fire Blaster was right to do so, especially if you were also Fencing them nicely for him and no-one was dying.I finally got my Elec/Rad up past SO levels, and played him on a small team and a large team.
On the small team, Static Field was great. Especially since the new Kinetic Melee is very single-target focused, Static was able to control groups while the melee guys took individuals down.
On the large team, Static Field (as a control) was far less effective since (a) we were pretty much an undisciplined hoard just plowing ahead, and (b) the Fire Blaster liked to pick that group that I had just slept with Static Field to use Rain of Fire on. Fortunately, Static Field recharges much faster than Rain of Ire, er, Fire. Still, Static was great for heading off ambushes and as a nice team Endurance Recovery tool. I was still throwing it around as much as I could.
At least Static Field has the option of being a nice Recovery tool for the meleers as well. A lot of AOE control becomes very marginal indeed on a decent steamrolling team. -
I've got about 12 characters I actively play every now and then
1 uses the dual build actively, my Fort/Widow.
Some of the others used it at 22 as a freespec and then left the old build to rot as they don't use it any more or have need of it. -
Quote:I've never run Tactics on my Necro/Dark and didn't notice anything too untoward in regards to the zombies missing. Just get them to 75%+ Acc and they're good.Fair enough. I occasionally find hover useful for maneuvering inside maps, but nothing crucial; I could probably live without it. Thus far, lag's been pretty livable.
Is Supremacy really enough to make up for my little demonlings being two levels under even-con mobs? It seems like it provides a pretty significant effect (since its to-hit bonus is inherently multiplied by accuracy in most cases).
Trying to run a Staminaless Dark with the Leadership Toggles sounds like no fun to me personally.
Kiwis build with the Leadership toggles swapped for Petrifying Gaze and another Whip attack would be roughly how I'd build one. -
This also occurs in Praetoria with the Loyalist / Resistance divide, which could well be related.
It's hilariously funny, we had a seriously irked Demon MM on the team last night who was getting annoyed because his Demoos kept getting Sliced.
I saw it as payback for 4 months of having to listen to those growls and screeches.
Less funny for the poor Loyalist Brute who got Scourged to Death inside a Rain of Fire cast by one of the corrupters though. -
Quote:Yep, and WP works really well with anything that also likes being surrounded. Dark/WP is awesome for the self-heal which happens to be stuck in your attack chain anyway, along with Soul Drain.No.
It's power is in the combination of ALL of its clickies: Dull Pain, Instant Healing, Moment of Glory, and even Reconstruction and Revive.
Okay, seriously now.... While the underlying factors are the same, Willpower and Regen are two VERY different sets. Willpower is a toggle on and forget set. Regen is ALL about the clicks. With a good plan of which power to click in what order, you can survive through almost anything... and get right back up and into things that you can't. And Moment of Glory is just awesome.
Also, something to consider: Willpower will only match Regen's NORMAL regeneration rate, when RttC is saturated. Regen gets that kind of benefit at all times.
Regen obviously works best with a primary that can provide good mitigation - like Broad Sword and Katana, for example.
I'd reckon the new MA and WP and Dual Blades & WP would work well together as well for the PBAOE knockdowns. -

Quote:You can buy your own strong liquor. Your days of being asked for ID as you do so are done as well*BIG SIGH* Today is the first day of school for my daughter, she is in the 7th grade, junior high. She also turned 13 at the beginning of this month so I am officially a mother of a teenage girl. Today happens to also be my birthday and I am now officially in the over 30 catagory.
Who wants to buy me some strong liquor?

Quote:"The new companion will be Bonnie Langford as Mel, who is taking over from Perry"Oh gods, Doctor Who has gone to the Americans!!
Seriously, I hate this idea, I like the fact that in the UK we get a full season of a show, from start to end, usually in the right order with no breaks. Cliffhangers that last several months suck. I can cope a week or two, but several months, no, I hate it
Bah, worst news about the series ever
For a 12 year old boy THAT was the worst news EVAR! -
Quote:Actually I remember, I did two of Hatchets missions yesterday as a duo, so a marginally increased rate of levelling there which probably caused it. I'm on the third zone and doing it exclusively solo so I'll see how that goes for him (although I joined a PuG for one mission yesterday. Damn it! Although that provided it's own merriment by way of a Loyalist Demon MM Teamie who conned as an enemy to us and got irate because his silly demons kept wandering into range of my broadsword). You need to faceplant more
The debt that my first Praetorian accumulated (and very little street combat since I used hover a lot) meant she only just dinged 19 at the end of the Neutropolis arcs, so I had to street sweep to 20, since I didn't want to spoil the other paths as I'm saving them for my next alts.
That's on a blaster though. Debt is a blaster inherent.
I can see myself revisiting GR's 1-20 game often. For starters I have at last another 3 alts to run through the different paths, and thats 20-30 hours of play for each of them. Then there will be eventually be heroic alts that require a villain AT from level 1; villain alts that require heroic ATs in the same way; alts with Praetorian back stories; or simply alts who start in Praetoria because it's a change of pace from blueside or redside.
My Fire/Dark Corrupter hasn't actually done ANY of her own missions at all and she's level 15, she's too irresistible to PuGs (purely my own fault of course). -
Quote:^This (although blaster is a pretty bad example IMO, they do tend to need it). Buff your pets that need it (and resummoning isn't the end of the world if the odd tier 1 drops), ignore any one elses pets and don't bother shielding anyone who doesn't need it, for example Ranged VEATs are probably ok. And, oddly, things like Tanks, Brutes and Scrappers can often be pretty much self-contained and not need your shields at all. My Empathy Controller generally ignores the tank for Buffs as they're usually built well enough in general play without them.So true. Buff key targets at the right time. If that blaster is fine off to the side with no aggro and dishing out damage, then stopping to put more shields up is worthless. The way the spawn points are, there is ample chances to stop and buff players after the buffs wear off.

Quote:I'll agree with this much. Honestly I don't see why GR didn't stretch to 1-30, the level ranges of the last two zones are surprisingly small (6 and 4-5 levels or so?).The issue isn't price, it's value. Lvl 1 - 20 are the quickest lvls to get through in CoH/V and for some people are the least enjoyable due to the lack of travel powers until late and then issues relating to stamina / endurance and attack chains.
Tis weird. I'm loving GR, but I'm just rather surprised by that decision having seen how much work went into each zone (coupled with the fact that I've generally been levelling so fast I haven't even made it through a single morality mission yet, I get to the end of the 2nd or 3rd contact and I've actually outlevelled the rest and don't get referred to the next one). -
Quote:I'm towards the end now doing the last series of arcs and I'm here now. Getting my bosses downgraded to Lieuts is now irking me.It's funny, because there are other vets complaining about Praetoria being too easy. Ah well!
Sticking in the difficulty settings would let me set sensibly so that my squishies can manage the 1-9 settings easily and my older characters can set theirs to something which suits them better.
Seems to be a no brainer now that we're two weeks in and most people are aware of the new factions and how nasty they can be. -
Quote:Dark would work well as PB will also affect Dark Pit (which is usually pants but if you Frankenslot it it'd be alright). Not to mention a self-heal and all that stacking -ToHit.Ah cool, so secondary effecting shields don't benefit for the whole duration.
Thats quite nice for Forcefields then... Soul Mastery on a bubble fender means that you can powerboost shields and give your team 38.5% def ! :O
Just to pick a secondary now... hmmm
You'd be very team orientated of course. -
Quote:Out of the 3 I would say in fun order Dark, Pain, Thermal. Though I am sure if you pick up the right powers from those 3. I think you might get more teams with the reverse order. I know teaming with my DS Pain people usually cheer to have a healer type.
More or less this. I wouldn't touch Thermal on a MM because of the tediousness of having to reapply all those Fire Shields (don't be a loser MM and just buff your pets).
Of the choices I'd personally go Pain but probably recommend Dark, because I already have a Necro/Dark MM. Dark is awesomely good, even with the small heal radius.* -
Quote:Yep, this. I love playing my Fort/Widow. Log in, decide if I'm in a Blasty mood or a slashy mood and switch builds accordingly. Also dead handy when you're PuGing, you can alternate according to team make-up (in other words switch to Fort when you find yourself on a team with a Demoo MM. Damn screeching, shoving cows).I agree with this suggestion. VEATs are very flexible and can be built however you like. Another huge benefit is that you get two toons at the (XP-) price of one! With the alternate build you could have both a range/control Fortunata plus a high damage nightwidow. Or a AoE-crab + stalkerish Bane.
+great team abilities.
Awesomeness.
And if you get another VEAT on the you basically both become god-like (softcapped defenses and usually stacking damage buffs), as does the rest of the team.
Quote:Fire/Dark Corruptor, Dark/Sonic Defender - both are great. Dark miasma has tons of tools: debuffs, slows, a heal, a rez, controls and a pet. Sonic blast adds great debuffs as a defender and has adequate AoE. While fire blast doesn't add debuffs for a corruptor, it more than makes up for it with lots (and I mean lots) of AoE. Both are solid for teams and solo. Both are very durable - Darkest Night means that you can essentially tank. And neither cost that much to outfit - they're effective with the base SO enhancements.
And I had to stop playing my Praetorian Fire/Dark corrupter in order to actually see some of the GR mission arcs rather than PuGing my way through them, as I was leveling too fast. On a team they are lethal.
Enjoying my Broadsword/Fire scrapper at the mo too, great soloer since he's nicely self-contained and decent on teams (but nothing like as silly as the Fire/Dark corrupter). -
Quote:For your example (Deflection Shield) it sticks around for the duration of the Shield (4 mins). Ditto with something like Fortitude.I am liking the fact that in GR, Defenders now can access a powerboost other than the very long recharging Powerbuildup.
But can anyone tell me if I powerboost, and use for example Deflection Shield... does the increased defense stay on the target until the shield expires or, only until the powerboosted time runs out (15sec)
Thank you in Adv for your answers.
Your big bubble would only get it for 15 seconds though (ditto with the PPP Defense Shield Black Scorp has) because they are toggles, and Cold Defenders are out of luck altogether because it won't affect that at all due to the minor Resistance each shield also gives AFAIK. -
I'm not going to comment on the builf, but Elec/thorn was the combo I was thinking of before the powers became known. However once I read up on Elec I decided against it due a lack of synergy with the sleep patch and the DoT AOEs.
I'd still be interested in trying it though or hear peoples opinions since I'm pretty overwhelmed by Elec/Ices lack of damage. -
Quote:In fairness in their case I think it's scripted / expected behaviour. They are snipers after all, and they do tend to reposition and take potshots at you, rather than doing the ridiculous "Run away in terror and then stroll leisurely back to their starting point".Mook Hitmen have definitely been extremely terribad in this respect for a LOOOOONG time.
I do agree that it does seem borked though the amount it happens, especially at the start of combat BEFORE ANYONE IS EVEN HURT.
I've had Purple conning Freak Tanks take off from the off, which makes no sense to me. -
Of course now I've managed to incur the wrath of all the posh girls who compete in the Modern Pentathlon (all 7 of them). I'll be hunted down on horseback like the dog I sm, chased over small walls until cornered.
Of course since they are now armed with laser pointers I should be safe. At least until they break out the fencing foils.
Note to self: rally the IOC to add Oik Pursuit to the list of events.
