Except in their own heads of course. In there ALL DEPARTMENTS ARE UNDER MARKETING!
Mind you inside everyones head their department is the indispensable one. Even Scruffy the Janitor thinks the only reason the Fortune 500 company he works for is still in business is his devotion to mopping, cleaning and... other activities

Quote:I will just say that this week is really starting to get under my skin.Ok the extended 9 hour downtime to put the big stuff on that was expected, then we had the servers go down as something broke another day screwed and now we have daily maintenance at 4 pm just in time to hit EU prime time, what happened to the normal 12 pm BST start time,
just wish they would get their act together ,and stop changing times on us.I think this is the first time in 5 years that I have posted a negative post, but that's the way this week has got me could have something to do with what the doctor told me Tuesday as well that I will keep to myself.Ok rant over are we all enjoying this when we can play
.
I kinda agree. I understand the need to fix things, but if this turns out to be another extended maintenance right in the middle of BST primetime (ie after I've put the kids to bed at 8) I'm gonna be very annoyed. -
<--- This one (without the _NA obviously)
It's been my global name since day 1, both sides of the pond, so it'd be nice to get the character name on Ex -
Spent the subscription points I had on the Barbarian set, beam weapons and the Tux cossie part.
I actively dislike the rocket board so I won't be getting that. Not planning to spend money on points really, there's nothing much else I want. -
The market interface is more or less what I expected from our UI designers. That's not a compliment. Churning through the jacket pieces for sale was a trial, and the whole thing feels clunky, slow and user unfriendly.
The Sewers Trial was fun though. Loved having a trainer on every level. Didn't get to try the rest of the lowbie content since I'm level 11 now.
Time is a very fun set. Love the PBAOE toggle, it meant my Ice/Time Corruptor found herself in melee range far more often than I normally would. Time seems nicely paced as well with goodies all the way to 38.
My level 36 Earth/Fire Domi was delighted to be able to respec Snipe out in order to get Rain of Fire, and the fact I could take a Travel power at 6 without needing a precursor power meant I could give him Hasten and TP which suits him much better. -
Quote:I really think most folks overreacted on this. Standard issue farming is probably going to be fine.
Agreed. MARTy seems set up to curb and identify behaviour like the "Mastermind Pets 1 shotting AVs", Comms Farms and Munkie farms more quickly than they have done in the past and act like a "band aid" on them until a proper fix can be implemented to close the exploit. -

<---- Didn't get this
Because it was so late going live last night I couldn't log in, had to go to bed. Tried just now when I got home from work and someone has already taken Carnifax

I just changed my password to what it was anyway. That seemed to do enough to kick the password back to the forum software.
Account Management was as slow as molasses though. -

Is it too much to have dual slows? No, not really. You want to ensure that entire bunch of +4s cannot leave the Ice Storm / Blizzard you've just set up and that they are at the -recharge cap.
Ice/Time/Power is what I'm looking at too. Dunno if I'll do it straight away or when the next bunch of Premium Sets come out, when everyone will be making Street Justice and Titan Weapons meleers instead of Time support characters. -
Quote:Also, isn't 12 AM to 11 PM twenty three hours? That's a lot longer than nine or ten hours.
It's actually 12pm til 11pm, and the post is pretty much typical of Sinergy_X. There's no real point arguing with it, they're just a glass half-empty sort of person.
I just picture this in my head any time I'm reading one of his posts.

Quote:Pixelforge: Currently, there is one board. It's red and white striped, looks like a bulky surfboard with some tiny engines on it.
I would buy Rocket Board in an instant if it meant any future "similar technology flight powers" ("Vehicular Flight"?) came free when released as a "customization" of my original purchase. I would have it grant different flight animations, e.g. a rocket board, a broomstick, a flying carpet, an energy disc, etc., based on different toggles ala Swap Ammo/Prestige Sprints.
If I have to separately purchase every single different vehicular flight "individual power", especially at close to a thousand points EACH, there is no way in heck I'm buying multiples. I might not even buy Rocket Board, just on principle.
This is where I am with it. It looks horrible and there's no way to customise it.
I suspect they are planning to release each vehicular flight as a separate purchasable temp power, which means I'm not bothering with it at all.
The fact it's faster than flight is just ridiculous. -
Normally when something like this happens I try and create a new character who will compliment the huge numbers of New Set that'll be running around. When Dual Pistols was released I played a Plant/Emp controller who was immensely popular. When Demons and SoA at 20 happened I played a ranged Fort.
So since there's going to be a ton of Time and Beam characters running around I reckon some sort of meleer is called for. I might reroll my BS/Fire scrapper as a Brute or try some other Brute combo. -
Quote:Uh, what? PG is still kindof a turd but the Dark Servant is perma now. 240s recharge 240s duration. So I guess there's a couple seconds downtime for the cast if you have absolutely no global recharge or recharge in the power. Fluffy is very definitely perma and has been for a while.
Oh and Corruptors are still totally better at everything ever.
I think they mean perma as in does it act like Controller pets, cast once and it hangs around for ages (9999 seconds is it?). -
Quote:I rolled an Ice/Time/Leviathan on the beta servers and the combination is incredible!! Really good mix of AoE, and if you pump up the recharge as high as possible then your standard attack chain of ice bolt, ice blast, bitter ice blast does some really high DPS.
Highlights are lots of slows, lots of mitigation against incoming damage, and high DPS! (not as much AoE as fire though, but definitely higher DPS)
I also took leviathan mastery for school of sharks, it locks down enemies when your ready to use ice storm and frost breath
Plus with colour customisation, Time Manipulation can look very much like water/whirlpool effects! What is not to love?!
I'll be looking at an Ice/Time/Power Corruptor I think. Power Build Up looks to tempting to skip. -
Quote:Elec/Energy and Ice/Thorns, I've one of each.Just adding a reply here not to clutter the forum with too many " WHAT DOM SHOULD I MAKE " Threads
I am considering making a dominator for my first time, and I have narrowed my power sets to these choices, and am curious from more seasoned dom's which would be the stongest combination
I am interested in Ice Control and Electric Control mainly, and slightly Fire Control, and I am really interested in Energy Assault and Thorny Assault.
The KB on NRG isn't too bad really. Because it's so single target focused it's fairly easily controlled, you can even use the single target cage to negate it if you really like. Generally the enemy you're knocking back is going to be dead pretty quickly anyway, meanwhile his mates are all asleep around you and being drained. Power Push is a brilliant power when used right, can easily keep a really nasty boss off his feet long enough to get a lock-down on.
Ice/Thorns can be a bit of a death fest sometimes but it's always fun. If you hang back you can often find yourself in trouble whereas jumping on in and letting Arctic Air do it's thing can work wonders. Great AOE damage, Fling Thorns is a superb cone which takes Achilles Heel procs. -
Another fun combo is Ice/Thorns. Ice likes being in close for Arctic Air and it goes pretty well with Thorns.
Thorns does have some slow animations but the Cone attack is the most melee friendly thanks to it's wide angle and quick animation and Skewer is quick animating too. Plus you get Aim, which is nice for a bit of Spike Damage. All of your attacks can slot the Achilles Heel Proc as well.
The downsides are that the PBAOE takes an age to animate (hits hard though), your Tier 2 Blast uses that "pitching a baseball" animation and you have to wait til 35 and 38 to get your last two attacks and it's mostly Lethal with a side order of Toxic DoT. -
Quote:No, there is a second Fear effect, the original one. It's called "Afraid".City of Data agrees with you (and so do I
).
Spectral Terror still has it, as well as the Terrify effect.
Caltrops uses Afraid rather than Avoid as well. I'm not sure which Burn used (Rains use Avoid). -
Quote:It depends really. Ice currently gets the Blaster version of Ice Storm but I think I heard RoF is going to be a Defender specific version rather than the Blaster version. I'm not going for 100% "the best", but things which will have a bit of synergy (Stacked Holds and -Recharge in the case of Ice) and sound interesting.Hmmm...is Ice Blast enough AOE? That's why I suggested Fire Blast. My next suggestion would likely be Time/RAD Defender, as I recall it having decent AOE and I think being one of the more top tier sets (I dont recall).
Rad's problem is that the Cone is very narrow and the Tennis Ball of Doom is a bit slow to animate. The PBAOE has nice synergy on paper with Time though (as would Elec actually although Elec doesn't do massive damage and it's secondary effect always gives me slotting dilemmas, it's AOE Blast is quick to animate too). -

Quote:Because I already have a Fire/Dark Corrupter I'm probably going to go with a Ice/Time Corrupter or a Time/Ice Defender. Haven't really decided which yet.The OP defined "best" as "'Most effective' meaning most useful in incarnate trials... able to survive and overcome medium sized groups of +1s to +3s."
I'm behind BrandX. Time/fire defender. I really don't notice doing much controlling needed on incarnate trials. Have enough damage on BAF, particularly AOE damage, and you don't really need to control the prisoners either.
With the consideration of Incarnate-hood, heavy IOing, and general survivability boost from time defense, just skip the controller part and play a defender for straight up damage.
Basically it'll come down to Scourge vs earlier and more potent Time powers. Scourge is gold with Rain powers and vs AVs.
Which version of Rain of Fire are defenders getting? The Blaster version, a la Ice Storm or a normalized version specific to Defenders? -

Got my Earth/fire domi from 31 to 36 on Virtue Friday. Didn't play again until Sunday morning/afternoon Bst and Union was pretty dead so ended up spending an hour and a half soloing my Db/Elec Brute from 21 to 25 in an AE Elec Ambush farm

Hang on, you skipped Heat Exhaustion? Is that intentional?
Drop Spirit Tree, move Assault back there, take Heat Exhaustion at 35, it's your boss / AV crippler.
Take Seeds way, way earlier and make sure it's 5-6 slotted, it's the cornerstone of a Plant Domi. Seeds turns a large amount of the imcoming damage you're struggling to heal against the mob itself, meaning you spend far less time healing and more time stacking Roots and firing off your AOE.
Roots doesn't need 6 slots really, unless you're planning to proc it out a bit. Even then there's no way Roots should have more slots than Seeds.
Water Spout doesn't really need -Def IOs, keep one in there as a placeholder for the Achilles Heel proc (personally I think Fly Trap is a far better place for one though, 3 of his 4 attacks have a chance of triggering it).
You don't really need +ToHit IOs in Forge or Vengie. Take both slots out of Vengie and place them elsewhere, replace the one in Forge with more recharge.
Frankenslotting rather than Common IOing can be your friend. For example I have my APP AOE Blast slotted with 2 Air Burst and 2 Detonation giving 50% Acc, 95% Dam and 50% Recharge with 4 slots.
Vines and Seeds also benefit strongly with this, a lot of the Acc/Hold/Recharge and Acc/Confuse/Recharge IOs are cheap and plentiful and better than SOs or Common IOs from level 25ish onwards.
Try and get the Slow PROC and/or the Posi's Blast PROC for Creepers asap, it does wonderful things, especially on large teams
