It's worth trying at least. And jump kick can hold a knockback set, and we know Talen loves socketing him some Kinetic Crash.
50% chance of 0.67 knockdown. and it takes Knockback and pbaoe sets.

I've put it onto my Ice/Thorns and it's quite nice. Does about 10% more damage than Thorn Burst to those really close (8 feet I think) and less to those further (I think 1/3 of that but I'm not 100%)

The downside? A 2 min recharge. But if you're building for recharge out the wazoo you could have it up every 30-40 seconds I guess?
  2. Come on folks, you gotta expect this sort of thing in an open beta

You want to fight Pumices, Lost and lowbie CoT with all of your powers available?

You don't see the problems that would cause (hint : "Pum Farm team LFM. PST")
  4. At a guess to try and match the number of new characters that would be floating about after an Issue Release, and so it's more enticing for all the F2P and Premium Players to try out.

The entire issue seems devoted to giving the lower half of the game new things to do, so thematically it fits.

I'd guess that future chapters will up the level range until the last is 40 or 45 to 50.

I was quite happy to have a character which suited the arc and the arcs enemies, I wouldn't fancy fighting Malta or Knives or whatever even before I'd gotten my grubby little mitts on SOs.

Oh wait, that's exactly the opposite of what you want. Me am Bizarro-Carni. Me am happy that you got exactly what you didn't want.

Me too, although I went the Defender route instead for some reason (actually I know the reason, I'd played a Thugs/Traps MM before so wanted to try Traps from a Primary PoV instead).

I knew I liked traps but I'm amazed at how addictive trying to make Disintegrate spread happen is.

I was going to cite a Plant as well. Creepers can do completely evil things to the average Ambush Farm, especially when procced up. All you have to do is spam Roots, fling seeds occasionally and try not to die.

This I agree with. At least stick a "Don't ask me this again" tickbox on the stupid thing.

With the corruptor, the moment the ambushes were announced, I ran out of the mission, went to make a sandwich, and went back in once the timer had run down. I can't imagine that was the devs' ideal solution, and it certainly isn't mine, but it worked and it's probably what I'll do if I run these arcs again. (Sandwich optional.)
Did this last night. The team comprised of one Warshade, 2 Trap/Beam Defenders, 1 Sonic/Sonic Corrupter and a Time/Ice Defender

We had loads of fun battling away. Our only downside was we ranged from level 14-20 so no SOs and our damage was pretty low (I know my Defenders attacks are currently way underslotted for damage).

Eventually they wore us down, but not before we destroyed 100s of the blighters. It was probably one of the most fun fights I've had in CoH in years!

My Traps/Beam defender is probably going to get it too. Having an emergency "Give me all my Traps and my Tier 9 back NOW" power seems really appealing for her.

My Ice/Thorns is probably going to pick up Spring Attack as well, SJ is fine for me as a Travel Power (I have fly but it really doesn't suit him). I'll pick up CJ as well which is a nice "doesn't need any additional slots" power (essential on a mid-level Domi).

Whether it's worth 2 picks to get to really depends, if you're taking Combat Jumping and Superjump anyway it could be well worth it, if you've to sacrifice things to get to it then it probably isn't.

I'm kinda the same. I went with a Traps/Beam defender and I'm really enjoying it. Like FF Once you've lobbed a few powers out from your Primary you've nothing really to do other than blast stuff and try to get that delicious "Disintegration Spread" message.

Weird thing was, when I was reading about the two new sets I figured Time would suit me down to the ground and I'd no interest in Beam. But when it went live I really liked the Beam effects of teammates and I found Time a bit meh (the sound effects I think).

Both sets seem pretty PROC-compatible as well which will be nice going forward

This. On a defender sticking a standard SO into Neutrino gives about 7 extra damage (33% boost, damage at 50 starts at 22), sticking a Proc in averages an extra 14 damage (20% chance of 70 damage at 50).

So PROCs are much more effective in it, assuming you can live with the randomness.

You've a fair number to pick from, even outside of Purples : Devestation chance for Hold, Achilles Heel : Chance for -Resist, Touch of Lady Grey : Chance for Neg NRG Damage and Shield Breaker : Chance for Lethal Damage

No offense, but this is is a jerky marketing move. Make something "limited edition" so you can try and charge extra for it.

    Errr, no.

Also does anyone know how close the mobs have to be? or what the radius for spread is? not listed anywhere that i have looked.
The cone can take -res procs?

    Hot damn!

Weird. The impression I got from it was that is was a fail-safe for when weird exploits crop up, moderating the damage until a proper patch can be applied, not a half-arsed rush job, and it's also an event hook for flagging when those sorts of exploits are triggering

Mobs are invulnerable for several seconds after rezzing, until well after the animations have played out, et. cetera. They can attack you a fraction of a second before you can even target them. They are no more easy to defeat than they were the first time you hopped into them with a taunt aura, gathering them in a second or two, and dropped a burn patch or whatever have you on them. This is ridiculously faulty logic.
No, they are player untargettable. They aren't invulnerable at all. Certainly Freaks aren't. I've seen Carrion Creepers and imps rip their faces off while they're still rezzing.

Well no, this isn't quite true. Why? Because when they rez they do so right beside you (so they're already clustered up nicely for you), pbaoes and pets can eat their faces as they rez and they're also in any patches of horridness that you may have set up (debuff patchs, burn patches etc).

Personally I'd say it's a fair enough change. I've used them myself for some powerlevelling but certainly having the XP bags pop back up right beside me so all I had to do was spam my PBAOE and pop Insps seemed a bit off to me. Personally I'd have given 50% XP for them, but this is obviously aimed at stamping out that behaviour altogether.

    1. We can make better pirates with the CC as is (give us the shoulder bird)
    2. This thing dose not work with stealth powers making it useless on a whole AT
    3. It is purely cosmetic and only makes you look like an NPC
    4. 600 PP and that's on "sale"

If this is your plan, to nickel and dime us for junk just so you can make a profit, its disgraceful. This is a money grab, and you and your marketing team should feel bad about it.
I'd prefer they try and nickle and dime us with terribad offerings like this rather than stuff I'd actually want.

At least I can laugh at this.

In fairness Marketing have probably seen some of the ridiculous eBay auctions of these things in the past and thought "Hot damn, we gotta get ourselves some of that action".

Unfortunately for them they didn't make the connection that most people I've read comments from found those auctions for a minor cosmetic power beyond ridiculous in the first place.
