Waiting for people posting in this thread to catch up to this...
Sound. Ta to Z (and other Z for shouting it loud enough so I could hear it above the sound of my own pomposity)
As for the rest of the site do what thy will, I've no real preferences or suggestions that haven't already been suggested. -
Quote:Zwill didn't suggest merging ATs into one parent Forum with AT specific subforums. He suggested just merging Tankers and Brutes into one "Tank" subforum with all the posts for either Tanks or Bruters appearing in it (or I misunderstood)I think a merge of the AT forums in the manner Zwill suggested is a great idea. The idea is to make the forums so you do NOT have to scroll down through a bunch of stuff. I believe what Zwill was suggesting went something like:
Main Forum
Subforum
- Tankers
Brutes/Tanks - Melee DPS
Scrappers/Stalkers - Ranged DPS
Blasters/Corruptors - Support
Defender/Controller/Dominator - HEAT/VEAT
Kheldians/Arachnos
(Yes I know, left out Masterminds, this is just an example)
Exactly HOW is this more confusing? It seems rather simple to navigate. It would be the same as before which ATs keeping their own subforums like they have now, just be divided into categories. - Tankers

I agree with the previous two posters. I bought the Barbarian set for all the little interesting bits I could tie into other, non-barbarian concepts. The belt and shoulder rings are great and Carnifax uses a combo of the Bolero and the chest detail with fur on the top (which actually clips slightly too but with the right colour combo still works to my mind).
There are few interesting options with the CoT pack, so I'm avoiding it. -
Quote:It's a legacy of Cryptic not thinking things through properly.Seeing as Ice needs to rely so much on ice slick...
Why does Ice control have -KB in its aoe immobilze?
This never made sense to me?
Is it a legacy of its original design before it was buffed (if it ever was...)?
Mind you I find the fact the Hold also does -kb even more annoying. It means when dealing with bosses you basically have to give them immunity to your main source of soft-control for a bit before you can lock them down.
Even more maddening is that Earth uses the same "logic".
Removing the -kb from the AOE Immob might have an impact on Ice/Storm builds but removing the -kb from the hold would have little impact I believe.
Electrical Control does it right though, letting the AOE immob and Jolting play well together. -
Shouldn't that be "Disguise yourself in villainous style as a low ranking, minion member of the occult group Circle of Thorns"
No Flamboyant Pope for you. -
Quote:My levelling approach is to stick Achilles Heels into Acid Mortar and Cutting Beam ASAP (I've them in already), stick the Devestation Chance for Hold into Acid, the Tier 1 Blast and Seekers (cos they have a 15 foot AOE), 2 damage procs into Trops and a Chance for Hold into Poison Gas. All the procs are level 30 or lower.Hi there ...
Seen two different schools of thought on Traps/ and procs in Caltrops and Acid Mortar and Poison Trap.
1 school says proc'em including KD in Caltrops (and dmg procs), Chance to Hold in Acid Mortar (and -RES and dmg procs), and damage procs and Chance to Hold in Poison Gas.
Other schools says avoid procs and instead use full sets that give you set bonuses, such as full Lockdown for +def.
I am trying to build out a Traps/Beam and I could use some advice.
My preference would be a fully-softcap toon but I don't know if that's achievable at reasonable cost if proccing.
Thanks!
This is because I'm a total altoholic and waiting until 50 and doing a set-based build just isn't my thing usually. I'd prefer to add even more support utility to my best powers for the journey and see how I feel about things once I get there.
Plus I'm a bit of a PROC ***** anyway. -
Quote:My Traps/Beam Defender is now 23 and I'm having a great time with her.Rad or Traps Defender. Both bring a lot of -res and -regen early, and also add a lot to team survivability (rad with -tohit, and Traps with the +Def FFG), and again, they do so early. That leaves ya free to build to blast, or pick a secondary for more debuffs, if you like. Dark or Sonic would be popular choices, depending on if you want an offensive or defensive focus. Beam Rifle also looks like it has a lot of potential, but I've not played it past level 5 yet, so I'm not an expert there.
Both have the key powers by lvl 12.
Got SOs last night and immediately afterwards we were doing a Bank Mission in Talos. Silver Mantis decided to show up. She went down faster than [insert tasteless analogy here] after being Poisoned, blinded by Seekers and doused liberally in some Acid. I mean she literally dropped in about 20 seconds once the debuffs ganged up on her.
I live for those points on the map where two spawns appear right beside each other. Instead of "Uh-oh" it's "Woohoo"
Traps is a drop-and-forget set and Beam Rifle appreciates a lot of attention and blasting so it's a nice combo power-wise as well as being very thematic. -

Quote:With my tinfoil hat in place, can't help but think that Posi's statement is just an excuse for CoT pack 2.
"Since you wanted these parts so much, we'll be nice and give them to you (for another 400PP)"
"Tinfoil Hat is now available on the Paragon Market for 600 points" -
Quote:I'm in a spiky sort of mood today anyway, but the idea that you do an overhaul, with a specific design goal of making the results available to the player-base and then when it's done say that some of the key items didn't make it because they failed that design goal is just silly.Ouch... That's sharp, even for my sensitivity, but damned if I don't agree. Half the people in both CoT threads were saying "Everything else aside, I want to pope hats," they spent all that time redesigning the CoT ostensibly so that their costumes would be applicable to players, and we still get a massively cut-down version of them.
Really, what was the point of spending so much time making their costumes player-usable if you didn't make them player-usable? -
Quote:Hey everyone,
I know there is some disappointment in a few of the COT pieces that didn't make it into the package, and I want to dispel some of the rumors that we do this to keep unique pieces in the NPC's hands.
What is more likely the case is that the pieces in question clash with over 20% of the other pieces in that area (cutting through geometry, in general looks really bad). In these cases we reserve the right to withhold these pieces in order to maintain the good looking characters you guys are capable of.
Not an answer that will make everyone happy, but we do our best to ensure that a vast majority of our costumes, current, past, and future, work with everything else. Not everything will fit the bill, and just work with one or two other pieces, but that is a situation we work hard to avoid in the first place. Sometimes a look just has to win out though, and the piece gets made anyway. It's just that we work under slightly different guidelines when concepting and making parts for an NPC group than we do for PC costumes.
So you spent all this time redesigning the CoT group so you could release Player cossie pieces for it, attracted a vast thread criticizing many of the changes (as well as some hilarious new memes), redesigned it again and then when it comes to release many of the things people were looking forward to aren't included because of "clipping issues".
Time well spent. Kudos to the art team. -

So the reason for going F2P is to allow for downtime to go F2P?

Quote:Yes, but they wouldn't be running through others and also alerting them for me. I'd actually have to aim properlyWhether toggled or clicked, they would still come running when you hit them with it.
(on the plus side you wouldn't have the "Warwolf running off with it on and coming back with some mates" thing, but I've always found that hilarious anyway)
And if the changes also meant the Recharge was upped to 120 seconds it'd really blow -
I wouldn't. My Dark MM / Defender / Corrupters and Brutes with Darkest Night would abhor this change. Darkest Night is my "pull a spawn hither" tool.

Quote:Soul Mages do look Ok.Having actually examined the CoT mobs up close, courtesy of the Who Will Die? arc...
I actually don't hate them so much anymore. They don't look anywhere near as 'busy' as they seemed in screenshots and, while Ruin mages colours still look daft (blue, orange and yellow. Not a colour conscious mix) the rest of the stuff actually looks pretty nice. Soul Mages especially look quite threatening.
The minions seem to be using the Zebra method of defense though, maybe Orengbungabaha is infested with lions? -
No Flamboyant Pope hats? Just the horrid "trying too hard" shoulder-pads and skirts?
Pass. Unless I decide to create a Lordi tribute character of course. -
Quote:Indeed. I propose something easy likeWhile I certainly appreciate your viewpoint:
What if we provided guidelines so that posts were easily identifiable within each forum?
I don't particularly view it as pigeonholing, simply as...well...simplifying. There's a rather large amount of forums to sift through here on our boards, and to a new, or even veteran player who hasn't spent time on the forums, it's a bit confusing.
Forums should be easy to understand at a glance.
Blasters
Brutes
Controllers
Corrupters
Defenders
Dominators
Kheldians
Masterminds
Scrappers
Soldiers of Arachnos
Stalkers
Tankers
Anyone confused by that probably shouldn't be allowed to use a computer
Grouping them behind parent forums only adds an extra layer of complication (really what you're doing is splitting Archetypes & Powers General Discussion into 5 or so different parent "playstyle" forums, which are pretty arbitrary)
Do what you want with the rest of the forums, but leave the bit I find interesting and useful as-is, it works well currently. -

Quote:Not counting any running around loose, hidden away someplace.
Not counting any time-locked away in the Time War. Gallifrey still exists. It's just been sealed off from the rest of time and space.
Not counting any resembling Peter Davidson who have spent the last 450 years stuck back in their own private anti-matter universe following a rather confusing weekend spent in 1980s Amsterdam (we've all had em) -
Quote:Every 10 seconds starting at second 0 (when you throw them in other words) it will check against everyone in the AOE.How do enhancements that have a %proc work with caltrops? Is it every damage tick? Is the the first damage tick? The first damage tick per enemy? I'm thinking caltrops slotted with a whole bunch %+Damage would ridiculousness. Also, the %Knockdown from Ragnarok would help caltrops control. Any of these idea's viable?
Each Damage proc averages out 1.4 damage per second at level 50 (but since they do chunks of 70 damage it's in practice better than just saying "an extra 1.4 DPS")
Quote:Based on procs on my earth/ troller (wich have similar effect as caltrops), it has a continues tick. Basicly each 'tick' (be it damage, or chance to) the proc can trigger again. I have the -res from defense debuff in my quicksand, wich seems to continues work on mobs inside or getting inside the quicksand.
Volcanic Gasses and Acid Mortar are slightly better because they summon a pet which actively casts a power. So they'll have a chance to proc every time that pet/pseudopet fires off it's attack (ditto with things like Spectral Terror and Lightning Storm) -
-
That's how Power Boost works, it buffs any power cast while it is active for the duration of that power. (in fact all PB does is fiddle around with your inherent AT modifiers for various things like Defense, Mez and Heal, which is why it can also work on Pseudopet powers if you summon the pseudo after PB). It works exactly the same way for Mez powers, if you PB and then do something like Seeds the duration of the mez will be up around 60 seconds somewhere.
Because toggles are actually very short duration buffs being constantly applied PB'd Maneuvers or Weave only lasts slightly longer than the PBs 15 seconds. -

Please don't merge the AT forums, it'll just create a confusing mess.
