I agree with the usefulness of the Lockdown in char. You're sacrificing a slot in order to add another chance to Overpower to the hold. Against nasty bosses (which the Incarnate Trials are stuffed with) it's a nice addition IMO.

Of course it's wasted against Lieuts and Minions, but at the end game level they're mostly trivial distractions anyway in terms of suitable targets for a single target hold.

Sloe Gin is gin flavoured with Sloe berries.

So Sloe D'jinn is a play on Sloe Gin, but where the two component words also play on the features of the primary and secondary (A Djinn is a demon / spirit type usually associated with Fire Magic and Deserts. Time is good at slowing things down)

/Traps might fit the theme, amd she's only lvl 2 as yet so I could reroll her np, but I like the look of Poison.

I'm nit a great player by any stretch. I solo or duo mostly on lowest dufficulty settings. I don't need to kill AVs or PvP. I've got a few 50s with loads of inf so I can afford to pimp her out if necessary.

Is it just players who know the ins and outs of numbers etc who notice Poison's shortcomings? If I'm bimbling along just slowly playing for story, will I be ok?

I think a lot of the problem is "busyness". Poison is reasonably clicky, Beam Rifle works well well you can focus on it in other to Spread Disintegration. Both are pretty single target focused (which means you tend to get drowned out on 8 man teams sometimes).

I'd say for a Soloer / Duoer it's not going to be too bad of a choice.

Fire looks like the way to go with APPs. Is the dominator Melt Armor nerfed beyond reason or is it still a good force multiplier?
Bonesmasher is pretty much your fastest DPS move, plus it comes with a 50% chance of a stun which can Dominate, which is rather nice.

The only better attack in terms of DPS is Power Push (and then only just) with 79 DPS at 50. Bonesmasher has 76. Total Focus : 69 (but it also comes with a high risk of Corpse Clobbering on teams), neck and neck with Power Burst : 68.5, then Power Blast : 62.275 and way down in last Power Bolt : 53 (but Energys advantage is that you can eventually no slot it at all and remove it from your toolbar).

So even though PP and Bonesmasher come early they're the two best attacks in the set.

Note that I'm biased though, I play Elec/NRG so it's a primary which lends itself to melee (my Plant is a Plant/Emp controller).

I'm not sold on Melt Armour at all, 11.75% -resist every 200 seconds. Whereas Sleet is -30% every 90. I'd just go for the Armour, Rain and Fireball I think.
  5. A lot of the Traps are the Corruptor version too aren't they? IE FFG gives you 10% defense as oppose to the 7.5% you'd expect a MM version to do (and as MM Dispersion Bubble does).

I think the End costs are higher than Corruptor versions but any of the powers which use a Pseudopet (even Trip Mine!) uses the corruptor version.

    ??/Traps

Beam suits the Fire and forget nature of traps. Drop traps, they debuff, you shoot things and try and get the Disintergration Spread message as much as possible. It's also nicely thematic.

Dark has some lovely synergies, lots of -Tohit to stack with FFG, an AOE Stun for easy toe-bombing, a Cone Immob and a self-heal. Darks downside is a crappy other cone (Nightfail) and somewhat meh single target damage (although Life Drain may have be bolstered, I'm not sure).

    I have a Traps/Beam and like it a lot, but occasionally I yearn for a Dark/Traps too.

Rick's head never grew back, but he didn't seem to be any worse off for it. When a mad scientist noticed a man walking around the back alleys without a head yet still somehow alive, he took Rick in to serve as a guinea pig for his experiments. Rick didn't seem to mind. He didn't think he'd miss his arms, anyway, and the cool mechanical replacements the scientist gave him seemed to work just fine.

Eventually, the mad scientist was arrested by police and Insane Rick had to be rehabilitated into normal society. To his surprise, most people didn't want to be friends with a man who had no head and refused to wear clothes. Such strange people. But Rick was good person and tried to help people anyway. So when those nice bank robbers came to rob the bank and shot several magazines into his chest, Rick politely asked them to leave. These days, Insane Rick lives on the streets and doesn't eat or sleep, but this doesn't seem to bother him. He tries to be nice to people, but they usually scream and run away. He tries to be nice to bad people, too, but they usually try to hurt him. And when Rick returns the favour, the always seem to die, somehow. It's all very strange and confusing to Rick. He just wants to help. In the eyes of some, he is a hero. In the eyes of others, he is a monster. In his own eyes... Well, he doesn't really have eyes any more.
    That's... unsettling. Very, very unsettling.

DF *should* be acting exactly as Poison Gas Trap in terms of how Lockdown works with it (and other procs). There should be proc rolls against every in the AOE every 10 seconds starting at second 0.

Haven't gotten to level 27 yet to test it properly though (because I got distracted getting my Traps/Beam defender to 27 to do exactly the same thing with PGT ) DF recharging 50% faster than PGT makes it even more inviting to PROC up though.

For Arctic Air you really want to slot out the Confuse on that sucker. Max End Reduction, Max Confuse. Yes the duration is lowish, but so is the 30% pulse time, so slotting up Confuse will help out a lot in terms of keeping more things confused.

TF is skippable IMO, although personally I love one-shotting a Lieut. The animation is SLOOOOOW. Bonesmasher on the other hand is a must-have. Power Push is my favourite power in the set, decent damage, insane base Acc and great animation time plus some soft control in the knockback. PP > TF is an epic Boss Clobbering combo if you queue them (PP will send them flying but TF will still animate and hit them even though they're halfway across the room now).

Vines and Powerboost seem so worthless with Seeds of Confusion and Domination, should I bother with those powers?
PB is a little debatable, my NRG is Elec so it's important for him. PBing an AOE Hold is superb though. Vines I'd get, it's an AOE hold but it's ranged which means it can be used preemptively, especially when combined with Domination & PB. If you're tight on slots (and you will be) then 3-4 Acc/Hold/Recharges in Vines is easily good enough as oppose to going for a set and leaving it underpowered (or go for Basilisks Gaze for the set bonuses if you've got the slots)

See, when I talk about sets worth their money, THIS is what I mean. Sure, the Vampire faces are horrible and the fish man head is goofy, but the "think tank" alone is worth the price of admission, and the Vampire Collar is just priceless. It's a bit too high to use without some kind of shoulder support to balance it, but DAMN if I won't be using it! Oh, sure, it clips with most hair styles, but I'm fully capable of picking a hairstyle that it doesn't clip with, so it's still good. I just want to see the ascot fixed, as it's bugged right now.

So, yeah... I'm happy with this. I couldn't be happier. I'll buy this set as soon as I'm done making this post, in fact.

    *edit*
If I can ******* find it! Why are new costume sets never listed under, you know, "NEW" in the Paragon Market? Why do I have to go fish for them manually?

    *edit*
Oh, this is rich. So the Halloween costume pack is NOT in the "Featured" items, it's not in the "New" items, and if I go looking for costume bundles, it's the last item on the last page. Um... Why? Do you NOT want me to buy the costume set?
It's early over in NCSoft /Paragon Studios now so it'll probably be recategorized and made a New and/or Featured Product once they've had their morning coffee and danish.

    Yes but there's a but.

If you want to get PPPs and you're still levelling up you're best off only getting to Rogue. That'll let you join in on teams Hero Side but also take and complete missions villain side so you can do the Patron Arc.

Once you've done the arc and unlocked the PPPS (or if you had already) you can go full Hero and still use or respec them as normal.

This too, the jar is excellent. I'd quite like some silly things in it too, like goldfish. But animating that would be rather tricky.

This too. Is there any reason boys can't have snakes for hair too. Yes I know Medusa was a lady-type, but more options is always good.

Overall though this pack is snazzy (once the bugs have been dealt with) so kudos to whomever dreamed these up.

Mind you in the next week I forsee a lot of Paternity Tests coming up for the Clockwork King as a swarm of illegimate clockwork princes turn up to make stake on his kingdom.

I do remember stone melee being ridiculously heavy in end use. I love the animations, but the lack of people responding to this thread make me believe perhaps it's a bad combo?
I dusted off mine from my old account (now Premium) during the week. He's quite fun but End use is an embuggerance as you say.

Tremor is meh, as people point out. Mind you FE > Fault > Burn > Tremor always cracks me up regardless.

Fiery Embrace is now excellent on Brutes because it adds a second tick of Fiery Damage to all your attacks when active and that second Tick is affected by Damage Enhancements, Damage Buffs (like Build Up) & Fury. FE > Build Up > Single Target Attack Chain is silly, especially if you've a bit of Fury going.

You can still be considered squishy for a Brute, your main defenses are making things fall over (and Seismic Smashing bosses) while you melt them but I find the animations of Stone great fun.
  24. I'm a bit miffed about this, last time we got a pack (CoT) we're told lots of items didn't make it due to Quality control / Clipping issues. This week we get a pack which looks great and has lots of cool pieces but seems clippy and buggy as hell.

Can't we have some sort of happy medium (I suppose we did with the Barbarian Set, which I love to bits).

Mind you I'll still be buying this one, but given the stance on dealing with "bad looking" pieces which Posi delivered in the last Pack thread I'll expect it to be patched pronto.

ps. How would you slot Creepers? atm I have 1x Acc 5x Procs
I've done loads of testing on the procs on Creepers (there's a post somewhere about it all). Basically the Slow and Posi onces proc about 10 times more often than the others because they chain down to all the different attacks the various Creeper components use. The Immob and Knockdown procs are only used by one or two sub-attacks.

I think I slotted with Posi and the Slow proc, a Nucleolus Exposure HO, 2 Damage/Recharge IOs and a Recharge IO (although I replaced that during my tests with various of the other PROCs).

Because the Vine Spawn can take up to 10 or 15 seconds to happen when the invisible creeper is following you it's often best to recast it in the middle of a spawn so you get an insta-batch of Vines, which is why I have Recharge maxed out.

In terms of "does this have the ability to keep up with a Brute" I dunno really.

However one thing to maybe consider is taking Ice over Fire as the -Resist from Sleet will bolster Creepers and all the procs as well. Dunno if it'd be worth sacrificing Fire Ball and RoF for Sleet and Ice Storm but it might be, overall.
