Bah. This new issue sucks. But only because it drew me back in
Atlas Park sure looks pretty on my new desktop machine with world detail ramped to 200%. And Dark Control is so far a lovely set to play.
Damn yer eyes! -
I've gone with a Dark/Time Steampunk type which is a lot of fun. Fearsome Stare plus that PBAOE toggle = everything is quivering in fear and has their ToHit nerfed into the ground. At level 8. There just seems to be a lot of toys to play with in both sets.
No idea what the beasties are like though.
It also looks pretty good (that could be my new PC though).
Plant/Dark sounds really nice as well, mainly due to my unnatural Creeper lust (I must get that treated). -
We can post in here now? Sound.
I assume I'm avatar-less as well though?
Edit : Yes indeedy. Oh well. -
Nope, not that it ever was. Interest waxes and wanes and at the moment we're in a waning phase (mostly because I've a beastly new PC on the way and other things piled up to play on it). Nice to know I can drop back in whenever I like without needing to resubscribe though.

Quote:Have you looked at the powers she has? They aren't fresh or exciting at all really. They're 50% Fire Assault, 50% Ice Assault, one Ice Block / Incinerate combo and one Fire Sword / Ice Sword combo. My money is on this specific set, i do believe your right tho maybe a dark control will pop up soon, however i like to think Autumnal will be it because its fresh new and sounds exciting
plus an assault set to go with it!
they wouldnt just give a whole new set to a villain inspite of players, i can guarantee this is it.
I really doubt the new Domi stuff is going to be this (if it is I'll be distinctly disappointed in the devs lack of imagination). -

Quote:Agreed on this. Demons are the most annoying pet ever. Which was actually a pretty competitive field given how annoying the knockback-happy Stompbots are. I still have nightmares about playing my Blood Widow around the time of City of screeching demon-flesh (probably the main reason I first went Fort with her was so I wasn't being annoyed by demons so much). As effective as Masterminds are... any time I end up with a Demon Summoner on my team I start looking for excuses to leave. Most. Annoying. Pets. Ever. There are some things that can't be measured, and IMO those huge pets pushing me out of the way constantly and cluttering up the screen with busy graphics is worse than a Peacebringer spamming knockback.
But I understand why people like them.Even if I'd always prefer a non-Mastermind, and especially a non-demon summoner.
My Plant/Emp controller was a pleasure to level on teams and is still fairly handy solo. -

Ice/Time is fun, kinda Fire-lite but the secondary effect of Ice compliments both Time and Ice Storm & Blizzard well. Having multiple holds is nice too.

Yay for them, but my word they very nearly blew it again against the French when it really mattered.
Fair play to France for ratcheting up the pressure though and playing the final in the cleverest possible way from their PoV. -
Quote:Architect is Tier 5 or something isn;t it? It's certainly in there and available before Inventions.Well... OK. That's part of how the system works, and I'm sure that particular implication has been considered.
That and the Architect, which last I heard wasn't in any of the veteran rewards or in the Paragon Market. Not that I specifically WANT the Market, mind you, and I already have T9 VIP status, so that's not an issue in my case. But I'd lose access to the SSAs and I'd lose Time Manipulation, at the very least. Plus, I like having live Customer Support -
Quote:This is kinda the problem. There's ALWAYS some "huge new game feature" which they're working on. Our Developers kinda suffer from ADD most of the time (or "Dog chasing a bouncy ball" syndrome as Memphis Bill put it). That being said, they did just come out with a new, huge game feature (Freedom) where they said that by changing their business model, they could get us a lot more stuff quickly. From a business perspective, for the first few months after that, you kinda need to keep up with that promise. Not saying I necessarily agree with that, but I can understand it.

Quote:This is true. I don't particularly want Jay fixing powersets. That would be "Crossing the streams" badNot all game developers have the same skillset. Fixing bugs in powers can't be done by artists sometimes. Fixing UI bugs is better handled by people who work in the UI system all the time than people who have never seen that code before.
Think of it this way: you're really good at plumbing. But your ceiling fan stops working, and you've never done electrical work before. Sure, it all has to do with your house, but it's going to take you a lot longer to fix your fan than someone who's good at electrical work.
It's the same situation here. Better to have the Devs who work on various systems within the game continuously upgrade and fix those systems than to have people who have never worked on a system previously muck around with the code (because that would likely just introduce MORE bugs). -

Quote:You seem to have the same blindness to the word "balanced" as I do to "most"Is there some language barrier here preventing you from grasping the meaning of the word "MOST"? ( By the way, funny how both of those were bugs centering on new content, which you had criticized them for focusing on.... )
Weird, isn't it? -
Quote:The first "halfway" patch we got is a good example of doing it right. It introduced some cool new features like Real Numbers and fixed a lot of issues and people loved it.Spending a whole issue doing nothing but fixing bugs wastes a whole lot of Dev time. Not only can you not be guaranteed to actually fix all of the bugs that you wanted to, but then you've got a whole art department sitting on their thumbs doing nothing.
It's one of those things that sounds good on paper, but actually ends up being worse in the long run for the company. I'd rather they fix bugs as they go.
Now, would I like them to spend an issue fixing up old content that's been forgotten about? Yes. But a whole issue just spent fixing bugs does less than you'd think.
I'm not saying "Lets just fix bugs, screw new stuff", I am saying there's a much happier balance between the two than the current development team are treading.
The "change" to Poison Gas Arrow from Trick Arrow kinda illustrates this, people have been vocally calling for tweaks to the set quite a lot on the forums. Instead we get one tweak which, on the face of it, does rather little. -
Quote:I wouldn't call Defenders Chronoshift bug "barely an annoyance", or the fact that Defender Beam Rifle seems to have been left out of the Spread changes, since they are both key parts of each set.Nevermind that bug fixes go into every single damn patch out there. Let's just throw out hyperbole in massive quantities!
Nearly all the bugs currently rate barely in the "annoyance" category at worst. In terms of marketing in ANY MMO, new content >>>>>>> fixing minor bugs. Like it or not, right or wrong, that's the way things go.
Pet AI is STILL screwed from i13 or i14 or something. Pets being the main focus of an entire AT (who can at least attempt to control it) and a Tier 9 of 2 others (where they don't have a choice, the pet is going in regardless). -
Quote:Unknown. One would have hoped that i21.5 was going to be their "Take a breath and fix all the broken things" patch, since it's a halfway patch and not a full issue. However instead it seems Paragon Studios are continuing with their "Screw old stuff, let's just add new crap" approach, except now they are also adding stupid gates to it. But hey, at least the BAF and Lambda are "fixed" now, hey?I would like for the Devs to take an issue and devote it to fixing the various bugs in game. It would make having new content more meaningful if the new content worked and if it didn't break old content. As I understand it, there're various bugs that have existed for years. I think that it would do wonders for VIP morale. I think it would improve the game and make it more fun for everyone.
AFAICT, the only downside to fixing bugs us that it costs dev time. Which, arguably, they're going to spend working on something anyway.
So, what is the best way to communicate this desire to the devs? -
Quote:Me too, my Plant/Emp logged in yesterday, joined the queue and ran the Trial with 3 other randomers without too much hassle. The last chap was tricky on our poor brute, with his special attacks, there was lots of rezzing involved there, but other than that it went smoothly.Ok first off, I see nothing wrong with this Trial, Second there nothing wrong with the LFG it up for this Trial, It works just fine and I had no issues with the teams when i am playing on Virtue.
I did miss not being able to AB people and I had no single target attack chain but it was still pretty enjoyable. -
Quote:Show us on the doll where the bad developer threatened you.Does it even matter?
They can cancel their changes and even announce a public apology if they like.
It still doesn't change the fact that they threatened us in the first place.
I'm pretty meh about i21.5 as well and probably moving to Premium for a bit, but I can't see where you're getting this "They threatened me" from?? -
Well they said "soon", so I don't think it was unreasonable for people to assume that they meant with the next big game patch (21.5).
I'm pretty disappointed by i21.5. No tweaks for underperforming powersets which have been crying out for them, nothing for Domis to bring them in line with what every other AT got in i21 and no fixes for power bugs in i21 (Time for Defenders and I'm pretty sure Beam Rifle for Defenders are both out of whack compared to the other ATs).
Instead we get more daft incarnate junk with the Powers team spending their time making mostly pointless new Alphas (and some nice new Interfaces admittedly but I'm not buggered playing City of GrindyZergfest to get them). -
Quote:I'm reasonably sure my Devastation in Seeker isn't working. Which is a bit of a pain. It does work in Acid and the Lockdown works in PGT.I have 5 Unbreakable Constraints in my PT, and the proc from that set seems to work every now and again. The Lockdown proc is great in there. More often than not, I hold entire groups including bosses with that proc in PT.
However, procs in trip mine don't seem to work and I also heard somewhere that procs in seekers don't work either. I have a set of Armageddon in there and the proc has never fired once. I made a post about it in the Market/IO forum asking people to help me confirm it, but people there either only care about bragging how much fake money they have/have given away or no one has a /traps or /devices toon that is willing to help test some kinda simple.
With regards to Trip Mine I've no idea I'm afraid. -
