I do not endorse this practice, however, as a tri-form warshade would already be short on powers and couldn't afford the useless fitness pool.

It might be better to stick in in one of the powers which heal. Stygian Circle probably, simply because you'll use it a lot, so it'd essentially be perma, or maybe the Dwarf Siphon Life clone if you're in that form a lot (again say for AV fights when there's no corpses to Circle off).
  2. I like both sides. I love Controllers and MMs (yes, I know they can both be "easy mode" but that's what the Diff Slider is for) although I can find myself getting bored easily with Masterminds and bored solo with Controllers (although I tend to get bored solo with everything bar Brutes).*

I like Brutes but find Fury is a two-edged sword. I love it when soloing when I can set my own pace, hate it on teams.

Defenders and Corrupters I like pretty much equally, when I play one I miss the strengths of the other (if I'm playing a mid-level Corrupter I miss the Support powers I would have had, if playing a Defender I miss the Corrupter levels of Damage).*

My Warshade was my favourite character ever. So many options and roles to switch between in the middle of a battle. "I'm bored tanking this group. Oh look, my Nuke and Pet are recharged...". Haven't had a chance to play the VEATs yet but Fortunas and Crabbys look interesting to me. Dunno if I could take the first 24 levels much though (some powerlevelling might be required to get past them as quickly as possibly).

At the moment I've much love for my Domi, have a combo which suits my playstyle well and my love of interesting power combos.

Don't really like the one-dimensional playstyle of Tanks, Scrappers (my Claws scrapper was fun, my Claws Brute was more fun), Blasters or Stalkers so much. On that basis I suppose the nod has to go Villain side more as there's less ATs I dislike there.

Correction: With some recharge, you could maybe put -45% on two to three targets.
It's rather strange really. Lots of powers (say for example an Ice Controllers immob or a Psi users blasts) will stack, and stack well, but Entangling Arrow won't (which I didn't actually know until I went and checked)???

Trick Arrow was Castles first set and I think he made a lot of "play it safe" errors like this which unfairly penalize Trick Arrow. I'd remove the no stacking from most of the powers as part of a full pass of the set, it should be a strength of the set that you can stack effects onto enemies.*

Personally I'd even remove the No Stack from Acid and Poison Gas Arrow, and slap in some -regen into PGA and Disruption Arrow (maybe 100-150 apiece).

    * This is what I do too, Frankenslotting from about level 27 (when I can slot 30s) onwards, piecemeal. Although they are expensive Frankenslotting helps since you can buy the cheapest choice examples from any set (for example by going for Acc/Dam/Recharge from Air Bursts rather than Positrons Blasts in the Targetted AOE sets) plus you can sell any of the choice ones you manage to get to drop (say if you got an Acc/Dam/End Posi as a drop it should still sell well since people want a set of them for the +Recharge set bonus). Done well you can get very good enhancement values in powers with fewer slots (very useful for slot hungry secondaries like Dominator or Tank attacks)

At 50 if you then want to work on more set bonuses or whatever you can either switch to your Dual Build to go for it, or respec and remove items for resale on the market (remember you can only keep 10 enhancements in a respec though).

  6. I've been pleasantly surprised by the deluge of i17 / 18 & GR / i19 information and content coming given over the last 2 weeks or so. Thanks Devs.

I'm not so happy with some aspects of the game, which are more in NCSofts area rather than the Devs, but I'm looking forward to the next few issues, looks like they're ramping up their game a bit after a fair few relatively weak Issues.*

Even if the devs could create an XML / RSS feed of WW/BM transactions (probably a number of them, split into categories since they'd be rather big) that'd be a nice addition. Then you could write / use an app which could filter it (or rather interact with a 3rd party server which parsed the feed and recorded it into a database which the app could query).
  9. Don't forget Dark also gets Fluffy, who comes with the wide area Defender version of Twilight Grasp (because he's the Defender pet, just on a longer recharge timer which is easily frankenslotted around). Combined with the most -ToHit of any MM secondary, a nice chunk of -Damage as well and more control than any set (even Trick Arrow, Dark kicks its **** in terms of quick recharging AOE control) Dark Miasma does not need a better heal.

If you're still having trouble keeping specific people alive (personally I just let em die and then rez their sorry behinds, auto-hit AOE stun FTW!) even with all of that then Aid Other is just 1 choice. That's what Pools are for, filling in any build gaps to suit your playstyle better (please give us alternative emotes for Pool Powers).
  10. I'm a little nervous about the sheer number of Darkity-dark-dark whip wielding ladies in scanty clothes we're gonna have when this does go live. There's going to be a LOT of new, n00b mastermind players and if there's one PuG member who irritates its a n00b mastermind with little idea of how to control his pets and who focuses solely on healing them and shooting / whipping. Nothing worse than a MM who doesn't help his teamies out with his support set and instead does things like try and heal the tier ones (that said in the last week almost every MM I played with was pretty darn good, probably because I'm out of the lowbie zones).

    * I'm planning to pick up Aid Self on my Dom.*

It's a pity Kinetic Combat and Elec Control aren't out at the same time really to help dilute the effect (plus I could start a KC/WP toon and not worry about the kinky whip-wielding DSers saving me on teams).

I think the main problem Castle has with it is it combined with Buffs where you get corner engineering problems when it acts as a multiplier on things like FF Shields and basically doubles the effectiveness of them for 4 minutes.*(the extreme example is probably PB + Vengeance).

Basically unneeded on Warshades (although I did eventually buy a Chance for End for Lobster form to try and help in AV fights where you're the tank and there's no yummy corpses available).

Great power. Just don't pick it up at level 6 or 8 or whatever like I did (level 18 is good I'd say).

It does cause a bit of sloooow scatter but I find that's rarely a problem on Villain teams who are used to things being a bit more chaotic.

Any Hero-only players who decide to Go Rogue may be in for a bit of a culture shock when they hit villains. Was on a team which was comprised of 3 corrupters, a Widow and the Brute leader last night when I joined. The leader was a hero player and was asking "So what do we need now on the team" when looking for members. Answers were basically "We need nothing, anyone will fit in happily". Of course this is also true Hero side but a lot of people get hung up on roles and team composition there.*

    * My 20ish Ice/Psi (who just got Drain Psyche, yay) opens basically as Bill does but with cones thrown in. Ice Patch > Shiver > Psi Scream and then in with AA to Drain and use the 1-2 Melee whilest they attempt to do the slo-mo running thing and occasionally hit themselves.

I can see myself using Domination & Glacier together a lot when I hit 26 or 27 or so.

Far as I know DoT doesn't work like that. Basically it's baked into ToHit checks, but both Nightfall and Tentacles only do one at the start, so only one scourge check.

Rains do multiple ToHit checks so run multiple Scourge checks as they go.

But I would not be against an INSTA sell to market feature of the stores. It would work like a deletion for me, but help the market. As long as it doesn't take up a market slot or cost me a fee. I also shouldn't get the inf for it, if it sells. I'm okay with that.
How is polluting the market with *more* garbage helping anyone?
the stuff that isn't worth selling isn't worth selling whether you list it yourself or there's some automated feature that lists it for you.

if the 'general population' thinks its useless....then it IS useless. the playerbase defines value in this system.
worthless junk cluttering the market doesn't do anybody any good.

My 20-something Plant/Emp who was able to slot low 20s Confuse sets for absolutely nothing disagrees.

I would like an option where if something hasn't sold for a week or so you get a button which lets you instantly Vendor it there and then though, just as a shortcut rather than taking it down and selling it manually or deleting it. I put "trash" up for 5 inf a lot, and buy a fair bit in my early 20s too (at that stage I'm only looking to Frankenslot mostly so I don't have to buy SOs every 5 levels), I'd kinda like some way of encouraging that behaviour.

One of the major changes is the difficulty adjustments. No longer do you just select a 'Level' of diff and go.. It got all complicated =P

I tried to do some searching for a while (Site is REAL slow for me atm) with little luck. So on to my questions..

I am playing a Claws/WP Brute. I will be Soloing and sometimes Duoing with a DM/WP Brute.

I have no idea how to adjust the difficulty stuff now. At least, I need to know what is OPTIMUM.. I saw it mentioned that going to -1 and then a higher X factor is good. Is that the way to go now?

While my character is low level for now, being a new roll, I wanted to state that I am a fairly good player. I don't need things toned down for my lack of skill I should say. Not trying to boast, mind you.. Just setting the stage here.

    1) In general, what's a good difficulty setup for a solo brute
    2) If it differs by level (just asking for general info, i know it will differ on many factors), what level ranges should i try what diffs
    3) Will I need to adjust the settings when I am duoing

I know the best way is to experiment - And i fully plan on doing this. BUT. For the sake of not trying to reinvent the wheel, I'm looking for standards you all have come up with to use as a starting point here.

Thanks in advance for any assistance. It's great to be back.

    Acidon
Claws and WP both like lots of enemies, Claws for Spin, WP for the Regen they give. My Claws/Elec started out on -1x3 and went up from there, to about -1x6 at 20ish, then switched to +0x4 or something. You'd easily be able to handle that with WP.

-1x[lots] is good because you can mass-mow things down really, really easily since your Fury gets a boost per attack made at you, so trying to max out on the number of enemies you can handle makes sense. And because Drop Rates aren't affected by relative levels you've got a constant stream of goodies *coming your way from them.*(pop Insps constantly, or do what I did and make some binds to auto-combine them into Blues, Purples and Greens)

Once you've built yourself up a bit you'll get a better feeling for yourself but my recommendation for that combo at lower levels is lots of relatively easy enemies and Spin them to death whilest they feed your Fury and Regen
  17. This is the experience I had with Dark/Kin. Very click & position intensive, there's lots of repositioning needed to get the cones working well and Dark Blast sorta peaters out towards the end. Dark Blast really needs a Dark Melee style revamp of some sort. The overall Damage is pretty meh (the sea of orange numbers from the two cones is cool, but even they are a bit of work since they're different shapes, hideous in tight spaces).

Selling level 50 recharge IOs for 300,000 or less is IMO not very clever. At the rate you're earning (only accounting for the time you actually spend making the enhancements and posting them) you'd be far far better off spending your time doing task forces for merits (and inf) and then spending the merits on Miracle +Recovery IOs and selling them for around 200 million a shot.

What you're doing is a relative waste of your time. You'll find players will pay 400,000 and even if you aren't the only one selling at that price you'll still be getting a much better return on your investment of time.

PS. If your intention is to undercut everyone else trying to make a reasonable profit, to drive us out of the market so you can then raise your prices and still have the whole market then you can forget it, because I'm not going anywhere (and I very much doubt I'm the only one). I'm going to keep checking the prices in Wentworth, forcing you to grind away your time as that's the only way you're going to keep me from making a reasonable profit from my time. You want to work at this like it's a real job? Be my guest. It's your time to waste. When I'm not checking the market I'll be the one doing TFs and making your rate of return look pathetic.
Oi, leave them alone. They can do what they want. Buying and vendoring those cheap IO Recipes is my lowbies standard way of getting a few million together for absolutely no work (well 2 minutes work).
Keep selling cheap 50s. Think of it as charity towards the chronic Altisis-afflicted (who in turn throws all those lovely low level salvages on for 5 inf apiece).
  19. Is it just me then that thinks the Ninja Run stance makes it look like everyone is about to sneeze?
  20. Remove Inf from the MA anyway, that really doesn't make any sense to me at all either mechanically or in terms of what Inf is supposed to represent. Throttle Ticket Drops a bit as well.

Not sure on XP to be honest. No XP would kill it altogether, a slow sliding diminishing returns might work better than a hard cap (but would probably still be Gamed).
  21. Useful if you've a few of the Vet attacks as well. Any of my chars with a reliable -Def debuff tend to use the Vet attacks a bit throughout their career (my Illusion/Stormie for example loves the Blackwand after a Freezing Rain and my Grav/TA likes the Acid Arrow -> Nemesis Staff combo against ghosties). Any that don't, the Vet attacks tend to be shelved by level 20.
