Quote:I've done that myself plenty of times. You just shunt the IOs from one power to another usually, most Epics I've used have similar powers in them.Ok, lets say you want to change your Epic, I can think of at least one respec just for that in cases, let alone a few power choices in your primary.
I've personally (and I respec 3 times in a characters life generally at 27, 37, 44 and/or 47, I like to use them to burn up unwanted yellow SOs) never had the situation where changing my epic or switching a few powers has caused me to disgard an IO because I couldn't either slot it somewhere else or stick it in my inventory. -
Quote:*5 spawns later*This. And I'll extend that to any tank that hangs back without warning and lets a team run in to make a point about how important he/she is to their survival.
"Whee. This is fun. Tank, are you coming, you're missing out on some serious fun here!" -
I'm reasonably sure that every Domi Epic Pool will have a toggle armour in it (yes I know I'm being a spoil sport pointing that out)

Quote:Junk IOs can just be sold for cash as part of the Respec process. If they are truly junk then there's no real reason to keep them anyway, it's not like they're going to fetch much on the markets. So you're saying that each time someone respecs, they lose all their enhancements except for those 10, unless they they want to go through the BS of having to respec multi times(if they can), great! I have no problems with it really, as I have plenty of them. I guess all those new people(with a junk IOd out toon) that the devs want to keep bringing back, that want to respec, are **** out of luck
You don't "lose" all but 10 either as people have pointed out, You can slot them into powers and keep them.
The only reason for this "Super Respec" is that someone has got a heavily IO'd character they've decided they don't like any more so they want to strip them of absolutely everything. New players aren't affected by this limitation at all. -
Plant/Emp is another good combo, because like Illusion and Mind it works from range. You shed aggro by confusing the lot of them and then summoning Creepers in their midst. Then use the AOE and single target mezzes, buffing whenever the buffs come back up (I fire my AOE buffs without warning in the middle of combat, close to as many people as possible) and healing when needed.
My Plant/Emp is a beast on teams. And I skipped the Rez and Absorb Pain. Don't need them. -
Yep. I'm thinking they'll do remixes of each sides Epics / Patron pools with an eye on the "No duplication of powers" rule/guideline.

Quote:If you've got defense covering you you don't need that much Regeneration. Especially on a Corruptor, where Regen isn't that useful really.I won't be feeling problems with not having so much reg? even aftr health?
Triage is slow to recharge and static. It's useful for big battle, but FFG is perma and useful everywhere. -
Quote:There is a difference between a forum and a social network as exemplified by MySpace and Facebook.
Social networks are actually more like a "look at me!" kind of thing, where people create their own individual "worlds" or "houses" and other people stop by to visit.
A message board of forum, however is like a bar or a dance club, where everyone comes in to meet with other people, talk, and have fun.
That's the difference. One is about the person talking about themselves at each other, and the other is about bonding with other people.
It's the difference between Napoleon Dynamite and "Who's Line Is It Anyway?".
Depends on how you use the tool.
Personally I bond more with friends on Facebook than I do arguing random things with strangers on a forum. Your milage may vary with both of course but both are forms of social networking.

Having the AOE immob is good for when you hit the 40s, assuming you're taking an AOE Blast. The one-two combo gives your fairly weak aoe blast a nice ooomph via Containment.
Personally I'd take Quicksand and Cages (the two work nicely together) and drop Snowstorm, probably on a level 37 respec (I usually do one around then).
Before that I'd take QS and Snowstorm and ignore cages. Pseudo-hold is nice and all but not as critical as people sometimes say it is, a bit of staggering about isn't a bad thing. I've always found Snowstorm something I used widely initially and less and less as time went on and I went up levels. -
Quote:Are you running Vista or Windows 7? If so try using the "Run as Administrator" option for installing it (right-click on the icon and pick Run as Administrator from the list).Hello. When I attempt to download mids hero/villain designer, when I try to install, It says "Error opening file for writing:" "C:\Program Files\Titan Network\Mids Hero Designer\Hero Designer.exe"
Click to Abort to stop the installation,
Retry to try again, or
Ignore to skip this file.
I have tried Retry and it just shows the exact same screen without doing anything.
Any Tips?
*Edit: Damn. Beaten. You win this round SinisterDirge but the battle isn't over! -
Quote:Why do people make it sound like the developers are trying to hide some sort of conspiracy or something?
Q&A was a marketing maneuver to promote what is coming up, and spill out some new info to tease the players with. That's how Q&A for upcoming products works. That's the entire purpose of them.
Given the amount of snark in the comments posted by some of the people here, I wonder why they're still playing this game if the developers are soooo dumb and soooo stupid and are trying to hide some sort of a biiiiig conspiracy! And oh dear gawd, they have no idea what they're doing, and only the few snarky people do! They should be the developers! *eyeroll*
It's a video game, people.
As for the questions answered, yes, I was expecting more teasers. But oh well! We'll find out all about it in a few months!
It was an oddly timed Q&A really. Nothing meaningful imparted. They could have waited until after i17 goes live (since we know all about that) and used the opportunity to give details on the next booster and i18 snippets rather than a heap of rather vague "wait until after i17" answers.
Not that I care particularly. But that's kinda the problem, I knew it'd be like this so I didn't really care about it one way or another. -

Quote:Uuh... Far as I'm concerned, Facebook and Twitter can die in a fire. Please pardon my inner curmudgeon, but I'll never understand people's need to broadcast their lives on the Internet AUTOMATICALLY. I'm still not done grumbling about blogging, but at least people have used THAT to make something decent like ICanHasCheezburger, but I don't care about the minutia of the lives of my friends and family. Why would I so much as considering caring about the minutia of the lives of practically total strangers?
Why would you have total strangers as your Facebook friends?*
I use Facebook, with bugger all personal information added (since anyone who's my Friend is actually a friend and knows all of that) to see what my mates are up to and see their photos.*
I do care about my family and friends lives and Facebook lets me see the little things they come across day-to-day which never get mentioned in any big gathering but might pop up as an odd aside on a Tuesday evening. -
Quote:Yep. The first few days in Mercy and Port Oakes are going to be epic in terms of Car Crash teams, until natural selection kicks in. The higher concentration of VEATs (that's what I'm playing) might help a little, although there'll probably be loads of them skipping their toggles and complaining about being too squishy.Sadly, it happens. Fortunatly, the MM noobs will likely quit playing it rather fast. Might not even make it to 18. Unfortunately, they will damage the reputation of us skilled masterminds.
Think I'll lead PuG teams rather than just being on them, at least then I can try and steer the careening car wreck instead of just being stuck in the back screaming. -
So many alts but my Warshade wins I think. Mostly because it was like playing 3 alts rolled into one. If I got bored tanking a spawn I could just decide to nuke em instead. I could open by SSing into position invisibly and mezzing the lot or TPing in and buffing myself up before switching to Flying Purple Death Mode and flying straight up to AOE them or sticking in Human form and attacking one enemy with melee and blasts and then making the corpse explode. Or switch to Tank-Scrapper mode and focus on making things attack me while my pets AOEd them. Options, options, options.
Awfully fond of my Grav/TA character as well.
Red Side my Dark/WP Brute, just doesn't die (I remade him as a Dark/Energy Aura US side over the weekend and it's not the same). -
Quote:Do you consider yourself a n00b MM? If not then you escape my broad, sweeping statementQuote:
I'm a little nervous about the sheer number of Darkity-dark-dark whip wielding ladies in scanty clothes we're gonna have when this does go live. There's going to be a LOT of new, n00b mastermind players and if there's one PuG member who irritates its a n00b mastermind with little idea of how to control his pets and who focuses solely on healing them and shooting / whipping. Nothing worse than a MM who doesn't help his teamies out with his support set and instead does things like try and heal the tier ones (that said in the last week almost every MM I played with was pretty darn good, probably because I'm out of the lowbie zones).
* I'm planning to pick up Aid Self on my Dom.*
It's a pity Kinetic Combat and Elec Control aren't out at the same time really to help dilute the effect (plus I could start a KC/WP toon and not worry about the kinky whip-wielding DSers saving me on teams). -
Quote:Given the troubles they seem to be having with the set I'd prefer a proper working version of it is released a week into May rather than a buggy version next Tuesday.Well, the very last weekend of April is here. It is now Friday and we still have no Demon Mastermind. Unless they are going to work on the weekend or release it in the middle of the day I guess we are not getting a weekend in April to play. At this point I’m thinking they meant they were going to be releasing it (exclusively) on the test servers in April lol
It should be soon, and I’ll still be checking every day myself, but still… I hope next weekend in May I’m in game and not here
I suspect they might try and throw a new test patch out later today and hope that works to elimenate the Sound and Particle problems the pets seem to be generating. Then they can push i17 out next Tuesday or Wednesday and still be within their "In April" timetable. -
Also don't forget Dual Builds.
If you're willing to leave your Enhancements "locked in" your current build and buy new ones you can switch to your Dual Build and then rechoose your power choices and slot placements there and then (basically if you haven't already used it then it will switch to a level 1 build with 33 "Level Ups" to go through immediately). -
Quote:Errr? Why is 63% "a lot worse" than 2/3rds?I eyeballed the ratio at around one multi-aspect enhancement aspect being about 2/3 of a single-aspect enhancements', but it's actually a lot worse, roughly at around 63%. So what I originally figured would be a massive gain based on "finger maths" ended up being a lot less impressive in practice.
I'm perplexed. -
Why are you limiting yourself to Dual Aspect enhancements? When I'm Frankenslotting I go for useful triples where possible and then duals.
List of them here
Good example is AOE Mez sets, I usually go with 3 Acc/Recharge/Mez and 1 Mez/Recharge, giving me in 4 slots better values than 6 slotting usually does (actually small drop in Acc but not massively so, around 4% and about a 20% increase in Mez and Recharge).
Triples are usually where I see the best savings, 2 or 3 triples in a power and then a few Duals to finish it off. -
Quote:My Warshade : "Mmmm. Corpses. Om nom nom"When there is nothing left but ash and drained souls, there is no need for your wussy heals, lightbulb. Don't worry; when the New World Order comes, your passing will be swift.
SG Teamies : "Your preoccupation with corpses is starting to worry us."
Hurry up i17. I want to be Purple Death again. -
Quote:To be honest, that's kind of his point, and in this I agree with him completely - THAT is annoying busywork that even I'm not going to bother with. Flipping Inventions, grinding tickets, playing the Market, all of that might seem easy to you, but to me it's doing the dishes - it's a chore I don't want to have to do.
But at the same time, you DON'T have to do that. Just selling your own drops at the Market is more than sufficient. Even as the Goat suggested, just selling everything for, like 100, is going to earn you a serious amount of cash. The point is to make money off the Market the same way you make it off the vendors - show up, sell things, leave. THAT is not a lot of work, nor does it really need any specific knowledge. Just sell whatever sells and vendor everything else.
I don't think I mentioning "grinding" tickets at all. I just run solo MA story arcs as an alternative levelling path, roll the proceeds as either Bronze rolls or common salvage and sell em. No grind involved (of course you may have a different definition to "grind" than me).
I don't flip inventions either, just low bid on common ios and vendor the purchases as part of my "go to Market and sell salvage" trips I do at the end of every playsession anyway. *No knowledge needed (other than the ability to set the filter to "50-50, For Sale Only") and the ability to read the price the last 5 went for.
Last time redside I did need to do that around level 20 because selling dropped salvage for 5 apiece hadn't returned enough for me (damn you RNG).
