Quote:Just logging in with someone over 20 will do it, that's what I had to do using a level 27 dom.You should try logging in one of those villains over 20 but I recall people in beta actually had to train up to a level of 20+ to unlock it. So if just logging in doesn't do it, you need to have someone gain a level who is 19+ and go train them.
I did have a spare Earth/Fire dom hovering at 19 just in case though. -
Quote:I don't really know where else to put this but is anyone else rather pissed that just about anyone can get a EAT now?
There are called Epic or Prestige because it is a badge of honor just having one. I know when I was a newb I used to think it was so cool when someone had HEAT you had to earn it, you had to know what you are doing, you had to work to get it. Now just some dumb *** newb who spend a week getting to 20 can get one. It took me 8 months to get my 1st 50 blueside and I had been playing almost 2 years before I got a 50 redside.
Of course, as I type this I kind of feel bad for people who don’t get to feel the joy of getting their 1st 50 after putting in all that work and now getting to experience this cool new AT they just unlocked (if you are like me you would have been looking forward to it forever). So I guess they have been deprived of something.
I know this is just a rant but WTF? Why did they make this change?
I've been playing this game 4.5 years
I've just moved from the EU to the US servers
I'm delighted by this change as I can now make a Widow and remake my Warshade US side.
Great move IMO.
Given that there is new level 50 onwards content on the way with GR, and that the devs said unlockable at 50 ATs were a mistake overall it's a clever move by them (I'd probably have gated it to 35 but 20 is fine by me too). -
Quote:Well, you can by 22.I'm curious why people are choosing hell on earth as soon as it's available, it has a 10 minute cooldown and seems like it would be a bit of a waste until you can get some decent recharge slotted.
Getting it at 18 means you can slot it up, take Stamina at 20 (assuming you need it) and have both slotted with 3 recharge for HoE and 3 Ends for stamina at 22. -
Quote:So, anyone willing to read through all that for the maybe one or two new pieces of news?
Despite repeatedly inquiries they didn't address Server List merges at all in any way, shape or form. Well the Ocho did bring up Forum merges and the reasoning behind it but that's all. -
The new Market Interface is ugly. Really, really fugly. It's like someone looked at Steam, said "Ooh, grey makes everything look good" and then made that out of it. Not sure it's much better than the old one either to be honest.*
Ultra Modes reflections & shadows actually work on my Craptop. So I have a shiny laminated Widow now, who I'm enjoying playing.*
The Whip Animations look excellent, really good job. The tier 1 demons, less good job. The heads are too blocky and crude looking, it's like they're wearing papier-mache masks. -
These are the European ones, right Damz?
-
That's a nice bit of foresight right there. Kudos.
Wait, I mean damn your eyes, you unscrupulous profiteering monster! -
Nothing about Server List merges? I'm surprised it wasn't brought up.

Quote:Your sarcasm meter is broken.Actually it's the usual Issue day schedule. They push the patch Live, then do back end work on the servers to make sure nothing broke. They probably also bring the servers up but closed to us so they can see how everything looks. Issues are definitely more work than a regular patch.

My current domi is a robot called RuntimeException.
So handwaving such weirdness is pretty easy -
I'd still consider that needlessly draconian, I'm happy with the current set-up.

Quote:I've got a different build again, pretty much evenly spread across all three forms and heavily Frankenslotted. I've a few viable Human Form powers, including three toggles (Smashing/Lethal shield, Shadow Cloak and Inky Aspect) and both Shadow Blast and Essence Drain 3 slotted and well slotted Nova (5 slotted AOEs, 3 slotted blasts) and Dwarf (Mire, Taunt and Heal strongly slotted, weaker single-targets).Agreed! I'm sorry if I came across sounding like my build is better. Hardly the case at all!
It was not my intent, I was just bringing to the front where our difference in opinion probably started.
So I play according to whim and whimsy mostly. If Unchained is up I'll use the human blasts to make a corpse to explode. If I've two Fluffies then I'll tank for them, if Quasar comes up when I'm tanking I'll do the double-mire Quasar thing (it's hilarious when the Team Tank decides "bored now" and nukes the rest of the spawn). If Eclipse and Mire hit well I'll play the Floating Purple Platform of Doom for a bit.
Only pool I bothered with is Speed, don't have the dedication or resources to work towards a Mule build, but I could certainly see the attraction if you can afford it. -
Quote:This. Imagine if we used the model WoW and WAR used and merit roll results became Bound on Pick-up and other Recipes Bound on Craft.(Nearly) Every MMO that has some form of items and economy has to have a way of removing items from free/easy circulation.
Unlimited items are created, to avoid mudflation, some simply have to be removed.
One approach is bind on use (or the worse bind on pickup). The 10 item per respec is certainly much less of a restriction than having every IO bound to the character permanently, but serves the job of restricting the reuse quite nicely.
There is no way in heck I'd accept a larger than 10 IO tray, as then some/all items would have to end up being bind on use.
*shudder*
The wails from the Marketing forums would be epic though -
Quote:They're the people who make the game. You have the choice of paying 8.99 to play their game by whatever rules they decide on, whether good or bad (or both).Yea god forbid that players use dev supplied tools to level faster.
Personally I don't find it fun to play anything other than a level 50.... infact I haven't been in a team lower than level 50 in about a year, and I refuse to exemp on any of my toons.
If I want to play another AT or another set of powers then I farm it...
This is how I choose to play, why should the devs say that what I do with my 8.99 /month is wrong and I should be playing their stale slow content for weeks.
Asking why the devs should say is kinda redundant, it's what they do for a living. -
Quote:That's called Godmodding isn't it?That part is called fudge, the player just happens to be acting just as your character intended.
"I'm actually controlling your character now"
"No you're not"
"I meant you to say that"
"Take this so!"
"I meant you to start slapping me in the face"
That's a daft argument, CactusB. There's such a thing as fudging something beyond breaking point.
You'd be better off coming up with a better explanation, even if it's something like "I'm using a device I got off DATA / Ritual I got from MAGI to bring you back from the brink". -
Quote:The Devs disagree with you, one factor determining how they change things is how widely it is being misused by the playerbase. Part of the change was aimed at changing players behaviour as well.I highlighted the 2 bits that didn't really make sense.
So they nerf custom mobs... fair enough.
Choosing easy powers to defeat is an expliot.
HOWEVER,,, allowing players to get 100% xp and inf from Bosses only of standard mobs should not have been changed!
I sorta agree with them too, for example Freakshow bosses are trivial to certain builds (anything with high melee defense or lethal/smashing resistance which does NRG damage). With the minions & lieuts thrown in too they become a little more varied in terms of the damage they do. -
Quote:Then why did they stop boss farms?
There was no Risk/Reward Ratio exploit....
There was no Glitch that gave more Xp than usual...
The Rewards were in propotion to the mobs that were killed...
A single enemy type, with one set of attacks and defenses & weaknesses is easier to game & exploit than a number of different enemies.*
Given that they also developed a new set of Difficulty settings around the same time it seems logical to infer that they also wanted to move farming away from the MA, where it doesn't generate much in the way of "trivial" drops like common salvage, and back into the main game where spawns follow the traditional spread of Minion, Lieut & Boss. -
Quote:The devs don't care about stopping farming. They care about stopping farming which exploits glitches in the game and leads to rewards being reaped out of all proportion to the risk involved.stupid stupid stupid !
Did anyone tell you that you are not forced to join or participate in farming.
Oh and while we are on the topic of farming and subs...
How many player have more than 1 account for farming??
HEY DEVS!!! WAKEUP,
If you manage to stop farmers it means that lots of players will only need 1 account. -
^This.
I've got kids now (well 1.5 at the moment). Even when my friends are local a lot of them are nurses working nights etc and it's too easy to lose touch. Facebook lets me see when they're planning a gig or night out or if a birthday is coming up and plan around going out with them that night.
People seem to think Facebook is an alternative to having "real friends" and "real get togethers". It's not. It's a supplement to them and lets you keep in contact casually with those you don't see for months (and plan when you will see them again). It's a lot more casual than making a phone, and more sociable too since ALL your friends can see the bit of news or planned get-together and decide to join in.
There's lots of things I don't like about Facebook such as privacy concerns and Farmville spam (both can be dealt with though), but there's lots of good and useful things about it as well.
If you don't like it grand, but don't assume its for losers "who have no real life friends" or a means for you to soley talk about yourself.
I don't Twitter, but I wish I'd invented it. Watching the ebb and flow of trends is more interesting to me than reading what people actually say on it (the metadata is more useful than the data IMO). -
Quote:* 10 slots does not equal ten brand new IOs needed to slot them and 10 discarded ones which you need to save from the old powers however. Every Controller Epic has an AOE blast and toggle shield for example.*BS, a new epic and a few dif powers can easily take 10 slots
Your argument was that there's no way for new players of keeping junk IOs in their inventory. Which is frankly baloney. New players won't need more than 10 slots and "junk" IOs are by definition junk and may as well be Respec Vendored.
There's only two instances where I can see that you'd end up with more than 10 decent IOs worth saving which you'd want to have in your Inventory.*
1) A PvP build from before i13 *might* have slotted IOs which are now less than optimal resulting in the need for a "from the ground up" total rebuild (dropping sets which give Defense for Regen & +HP ones or something)
2) You're gutting a character because you don't like them any more and want to transfer a lot of IOs to a new build.
But you didn't cite either of these reasons, instead you choose arguments and situations which aren't really valid IMO, probably to attempt to strengthen your case.
In both cases if you feel that strongly about them you can respec multiple times with the character, using a combination of Trial Respecs, Freespecs, Vet Reward respecs, IO Respecs and/or Paid for Respecs.
