Quote:Well if you want I'll add your Global later to give you more options when it comes to getting a team.Aww now I feel all bad, I always suspected that Shielder's nastiness was contagious!
You're safe enough anyway, I can only do lvl14 on a trial account, and given how you can't even broadcast or send a /tell to anyone to get a group during a trial I'm amazed anyone would want to upgrade from a trial account who doesn't already know someone in game.
But as SR / Bull Throttle will tell you we're pretty useless at actually managing to sync things to team together.* -

The Super Furry Animals sound delightfully Welsh. As does Marina and the Diamonds. And the entirety of Brit-pop in general sounds British (Oasis, Blur, Pulp etc).*
As the others say the stuff you seem to end up with mostly is the stuff packaged to sound American, probably so that you don't recoil in horror (or at least that's what the suits think would happen).
* *(Also we're very sorry for Boyzone, Westlife and Jedward too. Actually those three are all Louie Walsh's fault)
Now I've depressed myself with the lack of decent Irish musical talent*Thank the deities for Fight Like Apes!

Quote:I could walk down the street, knocking on doors asking people to give me $20.
The fact that they don't have to doesn't make it any less rude.
Yes, because the two things are exactly the same in every way.*
The "similes" in this thread make my brain hurt. Real Life != Pretendy fun-time-games on the internet. Someone asking you nicely if they can join your team isn't rude.* -
Quote:With the bug in sleet you almost want things to scatter so that it actually works. Almost.
What's the bug, it's been a while since I've been on my Illusion/Storm (I assume it's the same for both Sleet and FR?). Is it that the debuff lasts 15 seconds but the no stack is lasting 30?* -
Quote:Aye, but I've run them all through Mercy, Port Oakes and Cap as well. They're all somewhere around 20ish. Well there's one Plant/Emp Hero as well who I got to 39 during City of Dual Pistols.*I haven't quite taken the plunge yet, I'm on a US trial currently. The one thing that held me back from jumping ship was the loss of everything I'd amassed on Defiant & Union since EU launch: 9 50s, 3 bases built and a smattering of vet rewards amongst other things.
Then it clicked, once I hit 50 the alt was mothballed and I started again, the bases were nothing more than transport hubs and storage facilities (and a time sink in their design and construction). So really the only real thing I was losing was some inf & vet rewards.
Given the difference in populations I've seen based on when I play I'm more inclined currently to make my US trial a full account than I am of reactivating my EU account.
5 villains in 4 months is slow Carni, I ran 6 alts through tutorial and isolator on day 1 of my trial! -
For an Illusion Snow Storm is handy since you don't have many other ways of stopping things scattering from Sleet.
However you can skip the invisibles in Illusion since you can get a Stealth IO to combine with the toggle in Cold to basically give you the same thing. -
Quote:Pish Nom, I start again everytime I roll an alt!
Doing it all over on the NA servers made no difference apart from the first few characters didn't have anyone to bankroll the full set of DOs at 12, but that didn't last long!
My controllers do miss Sands of Mu though...doing it old-skool now!
^This actually. I make so many alts that losing access to older characters isn't that bad. And I did use the market trick to send a bankroll US side before my EU account expired. And the new Mail system let me divide that up into starting "help packages" for the 5 villains I've created in the last 4 months (help me! I can't stop rerolling!!). -

What's that Skip? Little Timmy is trapped down Old Man Sullivans Well?

Quote:The GMs have said a lot of things would "never happen" when it comes to the EU side. History shows that the Mod Team have a patchy record in predicting what will happen when it comes to changes with regards to the EU side.Yes, that was because they weren't profitable. The EU servers are profitable. So if we just stopped playing they would notice, but that profit is used to run the EU side.
So to do anything for us, it would cost them time and money that should be used to improve the game, not just on one server. Also, the GMs have said many times that a EU - NA server transfer would never happen again. So the whole thing would be a wast of out time.
In fact most of those self-same GMs probably ended up downsized. -
The two I've managed to get through the doldrums (22, when you get SOs) are an Earth/Fire and an Ice/Psi.
Earth/Fire is nice at the moment because it can work well from range. Getting into melee on teams at the mo is a bit of a nightmare (literally) thanks to all the howling cow-demons running on teams. Decent damage and excellent control. Works very well on teams.
My Ice/Psi works better in melee (so in the middle of the howling cows) so I've put them on ice for the mo. He is more self-sufficent in terms of survivability than the Earth/Fire and his end built looks to be impressively strong in terms of being able to take damage (for a Domi) but that's end game. The Earth/Fire (or anything/Fire) kicks his **** in terms of damage output.
Mind/Fire would probably be better as a soloist and Plant/Fire would be better in terms of AOE damage but Earth/Fire is a great "disable the entire spawn for the team" character who can then kick out a lot of damage. But you can generate a lot of hate very quickly on Villain teams and die in the blink of an eye when your AOE control suddenly wears off. -
Quote:Don't know if you've heard, but people solo AVs all the time, Masterminds do it easy, Ill/Rads do it easy aswell.
Heck, a few people solo GMs
A vocal minority solo AVs and GMs. (quite rightly vocal too, it's a decent achievement to pull off). Soloing the PvE game is nothing like soloing AVs.*
And nothing solos them "easy". Ill/Rads are probably the best at it but even they need help for when PAs are unavailable (either through Temps or IOing themselves so that PAs downtime is minimal). -
Once every 10 seconds (starting with a check at the very start) it will try and PROC against anyone currently in its range at that time.
Given that Snow Storm is fairly cheap in terms of slotting it can be worthwhile, but it's not going to destroy spawns or anything. -
Given that it's based on what a Developer said about the Going Rogue process it's pretty much a certainty to happen.*

Quote:Sorry, but you're sort of missing the point of the guide. The point is that instead of controlling your minions in one chunk (using petcom_all commands) you can divide them into functional subdivisions which reflect their purpose.*To be honest, I didn't read the whole thing. It was way too long. I stopped after seeing all the verbiage in the second post, and the third and later posts were totally skipped.
The question I answered was in his thread title, which is what I was hoping the OP was going to talk about. "What two macros do you need?"
The two macros you need are:
1. Bodyguard mode with a Follow command.
2. Some form of Attack macro.
The rest is flavor and personal preference. And if the OP needs 6 tl;dr posts do say that, then I think the OP went off into the weeds in his discussion. Explaining why you need those macros is easy and doesn't take that much discussion, and most folks get it right away.
Maybe if you could break his doctrine down a bit for us, I'd be interested. But there's just a wall of text up there and I don't think I need to read it just to justify making "two macros."
So instead of commanding them all, or using number binds to command by tier you use petcom_name and a suitable string in each name to divide them into functional groups, one focused attacking one and one defensive one (which should probably be made up of ranged attackers so they stay close enough to you).
Works really well with Thugs as per my post above since the tiers are a bit split in terms of their functionality (Arsonist is a bit of a meleer, as is the Bruiser and Enforcers are damage doers and have the pbaoe buffs, so can be really helpful offensively and defensively so I tend to put one in each grouping).
Doesn't really work as well with say Necro, where by-tier commands actually work better IMO (since Zombies are all the same and can be BG fodder, your Knights are melee damage dealers which need Goto commands to work well and your Lich is so good at lockdown that you tend to want to give him a different target than the knights to take advantage of his cones better).
It is a massively verbose way of explaining that though. -
Quote:Of those, at least for me, I'd drop Petrifying Gaze. I love holds and all (stacking that and Soul Storm is fun, but Necro can stack holds anyways.), but if one had to go, I'd do that one.
Granted, I don't take Vengeance, but that's me
Just checking, you know that Vengeance only works with defeated teammates not with defeated pets. Your pets will get the buff, but you need a dead teamie to fire it off.
I'd probably drop Soul Storm actually. Simply because Pet Gaze recharges in half the time and isn't much worse in terms of Hold Duration. The damage from Soul Storm is nice and all, but MMs don't don't much damage anyway so it's not exactly amazing damage anyway.
Of course Soul Storm has a cool animation so if you're looking at style and a bit of damage then drop Pet Gaze instead. -
Quote:The drops will be the level of the mobs (up to 50, obviously). So if you farm -1s at 50 then you'll get level 49 IOs (but obviously level 50 Purples). When i used to farm it was before all this new fangled mission level/mob spawn settings that we have now so i just want to double check if i should be making it quicker by lowering the mobs levels.
Yesterday i was doing it with the mobs set at +2/8 but was wondering whether the drop rates would be the same at even con or -1/x8? It's on an IO'd out elec/shield scrapper so the level doesn't bother it, but if they were lower i'd imagine it would go much quicker.
So if you only care about drops and not Inf then +0x8 makes sense. -
Quote:I originally made him as a MA/Electric. Not horrible for a ghost concept, but really doesn't seem to fit. I don't want to make him in to a tank, because I don't want him to have to tank.
The only oddities I'd prefer is that he might be able to hover while totally invisible. Now, there are IOs for the fly pool, but I don't want him to have SS feet while doing it, so 2 pools are sunk in that, fly and concealment. And why be a ghost if you can't recall friend, so third pool is taken. And really, stamina is an ASAP, so no pools available. [I have Ninja Run, fwiw.]
I kinda wanted him to be weaponless...
Ideas?
Stalker? Say Dark Melee/Something (SR or EA?) -

*puts on the gold gloves* Time to get the place ready for hot date tomoz night![just had to slip that in sorry!]
(I tried so, so hard to stop myself typing that but couldn't. I think the spirit of Sid James possessed me and made me do it) -
*pop*
Now look what you've done. You just repair reality right now young man. I mean it!
I sorta like the idea personally, but I'm not sure if it would work or if it would be perceived as a wanna-be Mastermind by people (perceived being the operative word there).
Also wouldn't they (as in the summoner / master / whatever) be a bit limited or squishy? Is the primary Ranged or Melee (or Assault?) -
Quote:No it doesn't, Pain Dom does
You don't need to "keep the team healed", since Empathy is not a healing-based powerset.
Bad idea
Maybe you should learn how to team up with a proper tank then
This is probably one of the only few things you've said that's true.
Thermal's healing abilities are weak, it's a buff/debuff set, not a healing set.
Truth
Dark, kin and rad are not "healer" powersets. If you think they are, please stop playing forever.
I'd actually suggest not taking your first few powers as an Emp. The only real healing ability you need is Heal Other.
Truth
Also truth
THIS
Wait, you managed to contradict yourself here.
You say skipping Absorb Pain is a bad idea and then say "I'd actually suggest not taking your first few powers as an Emp. The only real healing ability you need is Heal Other."
Make your mind up, or at least try and stay consistent through the one post.
For the record I skip Absorb Pain too, you don't really need it. If you're looking for a great team character OP I recommend a Plant/Emp Controller. Excellent team support and a lot of fun.*
