Buffs are there to be used, i'd never shout at someone for letting a buff drop for a bit in the heat of battle but unless I specifically opted out of a buff (not that I ever have personally, all buffs are welcome, but I can certainly allow for others not liking certain aspects of some of them) I'd expect it to happen without me having to say please and thank you.

I will make comments on how awesome my character is with the buffs on them however (and will go *Squee* in team chat if my Combat Numbers are ridiculous because of them).
  4. Ye designed the new system to eat peoples goods after a time limit, and then on top of that didn't bother telling anyone? Awesome.
  5. From personal experience Burn on a FA Brute killed the set for me. Mostly because of how Fail it is with Fury. Although in fairness it's pretty fail for most ATs that get it nowadays.*

Lightning Storm nearly does it for Storm as well, simply because it's pretty meh and it's supposed to be your ultimate, level 32/38 power. My Illusion/Storm was horrified by how meh it was when she got it. Didn't quite kill the set (Freezing Rain is that good) but certainly the set ends with a whimper.

Top end of Dark Blast did the same for me, once you've gotten the 2 cones in the middle of the set the rest is pretty rubbish (a cone knockback, a blast that's a weak heal and weak damage and a bog standard nuke with a crash. Meh).

Agreed on this. The only Dom I'd consider skipping Stamina on really is a /Psi one (and I did). Even my Earth/Fire has it, even though he could get Consume. Slots are so precious to a Dom when levelling that Fitness lets you get away without slotting for End Reduction, as well as having 2 powers in it which don't really need to be slotted for a Domi (I never slot Health up on a squishy).

In the 40s if you get a decent amount of +recovery, get a fair whack of End Reduction from IO sets in most powers and also go for Mu for Power Sink then it might be worthwhile then respeccing out Stamina (Dark Consumption wouldn't cut it IMO, the recharge on it is ridiculous and the AOE laughable).

We will be doing 98 percent PvE, with going to the PvP zones for accolade purposes mostly, sometimes I may want to kill squishies though, so that is a possibility.
Don't forget you can dual build and both play whatever you like as you feel. That's how I'm playing my Widow at the moment, shifting build between the two as I feel.
  8. Eeep, I had a few start up packets lodged on Villains for any alts I create. Better check they're still there.

I think it is more of a case of feeling secure, and relatively safe. Sure naming your SG and being a part of it may draw flack, but there are alot of people who haven't had the best of experiences with other people in real life, and in game.

Many major towns and cities have support groups for people dealing with having an LGBT sexuality, down to all levels of need, from full on counseling, to social situations where you can be yourself.

Wanting that sort of thing in game is not that unusual, especially since the game doesn't require all alts to be in the same SG, nobody has to fully segregate themselves.
That's a pretty good reason actually. In terms of acting as a semi-anonymous support group for someone I can see the reason for a GLBT SG in the game for those who wouldn't be able to talk about any issues they had in real life for whatever reasons.

Yes it does, all Dwarfs get an AOE Taunt, the Antagonize powers. They're ToHit needed (unlike Tank and Brute versions) 15ft, 5 target Taunts. They do have decent Accuracy though.

If you mean Taunt Aura then yep, neither gets that and only White Dwarfs get an AOE Punchvoke power.

I have a Shield/SS Tanker that I've leveled up, but I really don't like Shields that much even though I know it's the flavor of the month. I find it very tedious to level with. I also have a DP/Fire Blaster who just shreds spawns, but the rest of the time he's faceplanted on the ground. I'd like a happy medium.

What would the community recommend (That isn't the generic Elec/SD Scrapper) for a smooth leveling, survivable AoE specialist?
My Fort is basically at the melee softcap and running 35% to everything else most of the time, and that's without any IO bonuses. She's only level 31 too. It's crazy. She's got 2 cone attacks, 1 AOE and a crashless nuke on the way so tonnes of AOE. None of it hits incredibly hard but it all mounts up very quickly.*

Plus when I get bored I can switch builds to the Night Widow and pretend to be a scrapper/Stalker cross, who's even better in terms of defenses.

A lot of it is to do with frankenslotting 4 Def/Recharge IOs into Mindlink (8 of em altogether) but they're fairly cheap.

Well I find holding shift down and just clicking away less annoying that hitting shift then hitting lbutton. I used to have it like your set-up because I copied the bind wrong and found it much more prone to error when quick-chaining TPs

When you use +lbutton you're basically firing and selecting in one go, so no target circle as you say, you just TP in one action. Much easier to string them together, just keep your finger on Shift and click the mouse.

  15. Actually there's a recent suggestion in that subforum detailing just that, but as a new AT rather than as an oddball MM set.

Prices should be high so that either heavy marketers can afford it or groups of people would take them out.

Topics would have to be related to the game. No McD ads. Advertizing a AE# or Tanker Tuesday or

Bid 666 for a Better Tomorrow.

And, as far as pricing...Location location location. One week in Atlas is worth nearly a whole year in Faultline. Probably over a few months in Galaxy [which should be nuked in a future storyline].

Yeah, I'd like rented billboards. But not animated. I'd see if I could get a Katana club up.

Take a leaf out of Googles book and do it like Adwords, let people get into Inf bidding wars over them.

Ok, that's not really relevant to the thread in any way though, even if the game did support OnLive you'd still need a NCSoft style server for the OnLive service to connect to.

OnLive basically turns your machine into a thin client which is streaming what is for all intents video of a running game to your machine, your machine sends your input back to that server. So the game is actually running remotely and the output is sent to you as a stream and your input is basically sent back to that server.

It's not even live yet so I'd be interested to see how it works before saying "Hey, CoH should support this".

It's certainly technically possible I guess, you'd still need to pay for your account from NCSoft and pay the OnLive people for the rendering server on their end (your proxy client as it were). I guess if you really wanted Ultra mode and had a craptop it could be an option if it works and NCSoft had any interest in supporting it.

In general I'd be interested in seeing it work, as in terms of support it could mean great things for Linux and Mac users. I'm very skeptical of it though, especially in terms of IO delay and lag and how well it will scale and deal with high loads at peak times.

Erm, that doesn't make any sense to me.

OnLive is basically a client proxy server. For an MMO to work with it it would still need a proper server for the OnLive server to communicate with. OnLive is basically the Client in our terms, it'd still need to communicate to an NCSoft server.

I haven't seen anything of OnLive actually working in a live environment. All I've seen are tech demos. Does anyone have experience of games actually running on it on a live environment?

    What we are seeking for:
    - Reasonable speed in exp gaining, not going to speedexp everything, just reasonable
    - Possibility to duo some AVs/Heroes
    - Good chunck of debuff and aoe stuff
    - NOT a buffbot (not a duo brute/kin corr or brute/pain corr)
    - possibly two squishies (no brutes, at least)

We came up with a few options, but would like to add some ideas on top:

    - soldier+widow (to be crab+fortunata)
    - 2 corrs: actually the most yummi one, here's plenty of options, need suggestions for good survivability and reliable dmg.
    - corr+dom: another good one, been thinking about rad/rad for corr and earth/fiery for dom.
    - 2 mms: anything but not /dark, we have plenty.

    Thanks in advance.

Crab and Fort is ridiculously good. I've been on several 3 or 4 man teams recently with a Crab and we *make each other pretty much unkillable. Nice thing is also that you can both use Dual Builds and switch between being Forts or Night Widows and Crabs or Banes/Huntsman depending on how you feel at the time.

Thugs/Traps and Thugs/Pain would also be an excellent pairing.

Your choice of Corrupter & Domi would be really good as well.
  21. Aaaaaah!

I was stumped on this yesterday too. Hard to see with all those customers and stuff cowering. I was trying to reposition the camera and click in behind the grille for a few mins (until I got a tell asking if I wanted a team so said "Sod it, I'll do this later").

Nope, It's far, far worse than it was on the old one. I suspect the new interface is causing greater load on the Market Server for whatever reason. Previously it was intermittent. Now it's basically on everything I (try) and do.

There's also incredibly stupid and frustrating things with the interface itself, like field tabbing not working at all. If you're required to use a keyboard to enter a figure then you should expect something simple like that to be allowed for also. They also didn't allow for auto-focusing into fields. So for example if I place a Salvage Stack into the MI I've to use the keyboard to specify the quantity. When I hit return then I've to go back to using the mouse to put text focus into that price field before I can type a price. These are beginner mistakes in terms of workflow and all add up to a frustrating experience for an end user (I do this stuff for a living so I know personally how important tiny things like this can be in terms of making a store interface "flow" well).

I cannot see any way of re-minimising an expanded Recipe or Salvage one, which coupled with the vertical listings is really annoying.

Some concepts are nice on it though, the "Find" and "Find all Salvage" links are excellent and total godsends.

    * Pity the workflow is still so clunky and the Server seems unable to cope with the workload the new MI seems to be causing it (and I admit I'm making an educated guess based on my observations on that one).

AVs are basically balls of HP with exactly four weaknesses (-Regen, -Damage, -Resistance, and incredibly stupid AI). The recipe never changes, so if your character specializes in -Recharge, -Endurance, -ToHit, Knockback/down/up, et al you basically completely fail while characters with abilities AVs don't resist wipe the floor and can even solo. Things are really bad when a team of 8 can struggle to reproduce what a single character could do if it has the "magic" ingredients. The fact that every single AV has the exact same vulnerabilites tips the scale to the point that AVs are less of a boss fight than the "you did bring a Phoenix Down, didn't you?" type of thing the linked article talks about.

There are a few AVs with wrinkles than that, Protean for example is a step in the right direction in terms of making AVs more than a big bag of XP. A few AVs now are like that, the end of the STF for example, Reichsman and Nosferatau also come to mind.

i17 was a real positive step IMO in terms of redefining how missions, contacts and AVs could work in the future (about time too).
  24. Dear Market Interface,
*Please stop making my actions disappear and needing to be redone 3 or 4 times before they "stick". It's tedious beyond belief watching a bit of Salvage I've bought disappear from the Market Interface but fail to appear in my Salvage and then pop back into the MI 20 seconds later. Makes trying to buy and build a few common a frustation I'd rather not bother with. Taken with all the other crap you pull on me it just makes purchasing anything so frustrating.

    Love (well not really)
    Carni

This has little to do with my personal performance. As I say, I've considerable experience and rarely have any difficulty with anything in the game. The problem is it's just not fun playing when I'm more concerned with conserving endurance than defeating the enemy.

Also, this is not some personal crusade (well, maybe a little). The fact is, I'm not the only one that has said this, and it's been brought up countless times over the years. That suggests to me that there's some kind of a problem that needs to be examined.

Why should it change? Because it's NOT FUN, and that's the only measure that really matters.

The problem is people play, build and slot for "Max Power" and "Max Defenses" and ramp up the difficulty before they have matured, and then give out because they're gasping for Blue.

Building and slotting as Stryker suggests isn't "coping with an existing problem", it's playing the teen game as intended IMO. People tend to take their defensive toggles early and slot soley for Acc and Damage because they like over-egging the game difficulty early.

    * * I don't see a reason for Rest not to be reduced to a 20 second recharge or something though (since the Time/Reward curve should still be the same between the "ramp it up to 11" crowd and the "it's a marathon, not a sprint" brigade).
