Seems like levelling in the 35-40 range is just as awesomely boring, tedious, and slow as it ever was, mind you.
[/ QUOTE ]
But that's where most of their effort has been directed recently - the RWZ and the Midnighters/Cimerora give you plenty of things to do at 35.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well there's not much to do in Cimerora but the RWZ is certainly a breath of fresh air. Can't wait to get my MM to 35 to hit it.
What I'd like to see (and I've been saying it for yonks but the rest of this thread depresses me so I'll try and salvage it) is a 20-35 co-op zone. I think it'd work wonders villain-side in getting teams and keeping the villain numbers up. I know two of my mates loved villains but gave up playing as it was hard to get a team in the 20s and 30s. -
Probably a Brute of some sort (SS/WP for example seems to be quite popular)
Or a MM with a debuff secondary. Dark and Traps are both excellent and don't require any / little initial set-up (Traps you summon the FFG but thats it).
Also you don't need to buff every henchman before starting the mish. My Necro/Dark I just buff the Lich and Knights before heading off and buff the rest on the fly (bar one zombie since he's sent into the first group to die so I can summon the spirit).
My Necro/Dark is my soloist of choice (although I have a Thugs/Traps too I find the Necro more fun at the mo) -

Good question, and not sure. To my mind, Quality of Life is pretty much anything that fits into the classification "Improves the information I have about my characters. Improves my ability to communicate with other players. Improves my ability to play the game the way I want to (finding teams, managing teams, avoiding teams etc. Improves my ability to avoid wasting time and get on with missions)". All else (i.e. anything relating to things that you use in combat) are Gameplay Improvements to one degree or another.
So, asking for a 'Team leader star' on the Team search menu is a QoL issue. Asking for adjustments to the Auction House search system is a QoL issue.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, that's how I'd see it too.
(and yes to the Auction House search improvements)
I'd also like to see a personal History list in the Auction House, so you can quickly call up the last 10 things you've looked at. Mainly because I'm impatient when crafting stuff so I frequently place a bid on something, go off shopping for whatever else I need and when my initial bid doesn't work go back to the initial item and rebid at a higher price. It'd save me a bit of time.
A "bookmarks" or favourites would be nice too but probably not as useful. -
Oh goodie. Vin Diesels head all over the place.
That's the flaw with the ad system, if there aren't many ads to rotate we're going to see his big bald head everywhere.
Where's the Batman and Hellboy ads, eh?
Or even things like Heroes (starting on Sci-fi, although already shown on BBC) and the like. Ring up SciFi, Channel 4 (Reaper), Virgin 1 (home of Star Trek, Terminator etc) or whoever and get some quid pro quo ads going (we advertise them ingame, they have a "City of Heroes" mini-ad thingy when they go or come from the ad breaks on the shows). -

It's not intended that low level characters be fully IOed up though, they get TOs and DOs.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm sorry, I didn't see this anywhere in the manual. If it were true then surely these IOs would not exist.
The fact that many low level IOs are used by high level players is an indication of a flaw in the invention system and the high price of components necessary for low level recipes is an indication of a flaw in the market system.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well you can IO at low levels. I often do with a few Accuracy IOs in the teens, just so I don't have to worry about them for a while. But generally SOs are better until the 30s so I stick with them. I might also add 3 way set IOs (Acc/Mez/Recharge for example) to some powers in the 20s (AOE Holds and Fearsome Stare for example) since you can get them cheap.
Never found them too expensive really, Salvage drops generally pay for them pretty well. But as Standoff says its a piece by piece system, I don't hit 32, respec and fully IO my build (one of the reasons I don't like posting overpowered IO builds on the forums, they're rarely practical as a levelling build) -
I've a US account and use it regularly.
Basically I play anything that needs a team (currently a Dom) on the US, making big PuGs (and dying a fair bit. Had a car crash Mayhem on Friday, although the people on it were sound and didn't seem to mind too much, we had fun dying ad nauseum breaking out of Prison and respawning).
Here I play mostly anything I know can solo since chances are I'm not getting a team, generally my MMs and controllers (although my MM got a few invites yesterday afternoon). -
Carnifax lives in and helps run a shelter for misunderstood demons dragged here by The Circle or whoever (happens a hell of a lot), helping them integrate into life in Paragon City.
Maloth doesn't live anywhere, he just patrols hazard zones ad nauseum. Being a robot he doesn't particularly need to rest.
Attila the Bum lives on a park bench in Perez. When not picking fights with Skulls or Hellions over them.
Johnny Moronic lives in a loft in Cap Au stuffed with shiney high-tech toys, computers showing interesting screen savers (which he has no idea how to use) and lots and lots of chrome. -

It'll improve the recharge times of his attacks that take Tohit Debuff sets. Which, uh, should be mostly everything?
[/ QUOTE ]
Will it also improve the recharge of my Dark Servant power? Because I need something like 90% to perma him afaik? -

THEN DC WILL kill this game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not if it turns out to be carp, which is quite possible. Just look at SWG or AoC.
I am not a comic book fan. I play CoX because I enjoy the gameplay more than the othe MMOs I have tried. As far as I'm conerned, any new MMO is a competetor for CoX, regardless of genre. DC may have rubbish gameplay. It sounds like CO does have rubbish gameplay. On the other had, by all acounts WAR has excellent gameplay, so maybe that is the competetor that NorCal needs to worry about.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm with PRAF on this one.
In fact I didn't even consider CO or DC Online when posting my initial concerns about the lack of updates. I'm not too sure CoH has too much to worry from these feature-wise.
In fact after reading preview articles for DC Online I wouldn't be worried about it at all if I was NorCAL, other than it maybe causing a blip in the number of concurrent players for a month or two when its released. It seems pretty rubbish / poor from what I've seen so far with nothing innotive or stand-out.
Personally I just don't like the lull we've got at the moment, it feels like this year has been treading water for the most part so far (at least from this side where we know little to nothing about whats to come).
Personally for me WAR is more likely to steal me a way for a bit. Which may be a good thing in terms of having a little break and coming back whenever i13 and 14 materialise. -

What I would like to see:
More high quality suggestions, thoroughly researched, using the search function, completly developed, all implications weighed up, amount of workload estimated, and trade off value calculated (i.e. what would you be prepared to not have while the developers are working on your suggestion).
[/ QUOTE ]
That sounds like way to much work to be honest. People are suggesting what they think would be fun / good ingame, not applying for a business loan.
Why suck all the fun out of someones idea? As for working out implications, if people worked all that out beforehand what would we have to argue about in the thread? -

You might want to check out this thread.
Looks like the answer is yes.
I've not really IOd my MMs that much. The set bonuses for the pet sets don't seem to stack very well. I would try to get my hands on the defence and resitance uniques though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Interesting. I'm not too worried about Set bonuses, I'm going for frankenslotting, especially on the Lich, to get his -ToHit, Accuracy, Damage and maybe a bit of recharge in there.
I think the Defense and Resist uniques will probably be going into Spirit.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's a great US thread on this here for those interested.
Best approach seems to be straight up Acc & Dam for the zombies.
Acc & Dam for knights, the Achillles Heel PROC for -resist in their broadsword attacks and a Def Debuff/Recharge or two to speed up the broadsword attacks.
Acc for the Lich coupled with ToHit Debuff/Recharge as it'll improve the recast speed and ToHit debuff of almost all his attacks.
Anyone know about Dark Servant, if I slot ToHit debuff/Recharge will it improve the recast time of the dark servant as well as speeding up how often he attacks? -

When you say "its a shame that instead of red names doing something about the problems they are on here posting reprimands" it sounds like you think GR should hop over to his coding terminal, make a few changes to the game code in line with the posts we've made over the last few hours, and upload it to the training room for testing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, come on GR. Get coding.
And fix Oil Slick while you're at it! -

does that one give out a recipe, i though it just gave you the badge for doing it been so long snice i done that one

I avoid it at all cost and dont think I've done it since inventions were in the game so not 100% sure. Paragon Wiki cant answer that question for me either it seems

Pretty sure it does. I seem to remember getting a Snipe receipe on it last time we trioed it. Mmmm. Level 14 Snipe Recipe! -
[ QUOTE ]
I dont see why there is a level 14 restriction. Frightened they may hit 50 too early? What other reason can there be?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because farming PLed Trial accounts were the chief source of the Inf that the professionals were selling.
Also, they're Trial accounts. You're not supposed to have access to all the tricks of a full game in a demo. I can't think of a single game that gives you full access to the entire game in its demo.
Personally I think the restrictions on Tells for trialists was a step too far, it restricts their abilties to team waaay too much. Other than that I've no real problem with the changes -

Perhaps I'm an optimist, but I sincerely think we're in for one hell of a surprise with I13, and I want the devs to get it right.
[/ QUOTE ]
*giggles* You have no idea.
[ QUOTE ]
Here's my take on it: The devs know that they're going to release I13. They will have begun development on it long before I12 came out. They know it's a biggie. They are also abundantly aware that CO and DCUO are in development and that they have to take control.
In their shoes, I would do two things:
Firstly, I'd make sure that I13 was top-notch. Primo, game-release stuff.
Secondly, I'd put off releasing any details, even at the expense of annoying my own player-base, until the very last minute I can so that the developers for DCUO and CO can't do anything about the funky new stuff I'm including without it becoming clear that they're only copying.
This is what I mean when I say I want the devs to get it right. If you read between the lines of Redname posts, they're laughing in their beers about our speculation, and, from experience, that means that they know they're going to be exceeding our expectations one way or another. I'm willing to put up with a bit of tactical silence from Positron if it means really cool stuff, and that is the only reason I can conceive of for such a silence in the first place.

I don't know about Lionsbane but I'm getting damned impatient. i12 wasn't that huge and NCNC have been talking about how the team is much bigger now and there's loads to come. And yet a lot of the really cool ideas I've seen seem to still be at the Survey level, not even close to being implemented.
[/ QUOTE ]
Here's a question for you: Have NCNC ever done a survey before? No? So how do we know how far into development some or all of these ideas are? They might have just been doing the survey before they decided which ones to actually put into I13, and have them all ready to run at a moment's notice for all we know.
Can everyone please stop assuming that it's business as it usually was with Cryptic? At Omega Sektor War Witch was really excited about the ability to take the game in the directions they wanted to, without the shackles they had previously been bound by.
Perhaps I'm an optimist, but I sincerely think we're in for one hell of a surprise with I13, and I want the devs to get it right.
Here's a non-doom-and-gloom theory to be going with: What if I13 has EVERYTHING in the survey in it, plus shields, plus anything else we know about? Would you be willing to have waited if hindsight shows that we're getting something THAT huge?
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree with most things you say here Shadowe. I'd be delighted if your theory is correct, it'd be amazing. I'll be the first to be jumping up and down and waving wee flags.
At the same time I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about how long its taking and the lack of any meaningful communication about whats to come over the last month or two. And I'm not sure its fair for anyone who voices such concerns to be labelled a "doom and gloom" merchant any time they post anything critical of the devs.
I just wants new stoofs. i11 and i12 didn't really interest me much at all (i9 and i10 I thought were great though) so I'm itching for some new content! -
[ QUOTE ]
Lionsbane, I would just like to point out that you come across as someone who is very impatient, wanting everything now. I for one think that we should at least let NCNC show us what they can do before saying they're not doing anything. You may argue that you're not saying that, but that's how it comes across. If you think they are not doing enough to deal with the competition then i'd like to know what the basis for your feelings are: i13 is the first post-JE issue. Let's see what it is before we decry it. And let's give the devs a chance to do it right.
[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think its going to be the death of the game or anything, I just want em to get the finger out. 8 months of the year are gone already and we've still only got 1 issue this year, and not a very big one at that. I wants new stoofs!
As for the cuts in the Austin branch of NCSoft, that's nothing to do with CoH is it? It's more likely a ramp down of Developer numbers following the release of Tabula Rasa. -
[ QUOTE ]
Hmmm... my original conception for War Crow (Kat/Reg Scrapper) was far more along the line of a Stalker. Stealth in, rescue the hostage or surgically take out the lead villain. Very much in the Batman school of villain stopping. There's nothing to stop a Stalker being a hero.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sneaking is underhanded and therefore evil!
I'd love to see Going Rogue finally implemented. And I like the idea of "Exempler Heroes / Villains" as a counterfoil to going rogue.
Problem is, if they're still at the Questionaire and Polling stage its going to be years before it actually appears! -

More movement
It seems odd that AV's are generally happy to stand arround in one place, or even if they move, it's not that fast.
[/ QUOTE ]
Heehee - have you faced some of the villain-side AVs? I'm thinking Ghost of Scrapyard in particular.
That craven "monster" runs like a girlie at near enough first contact, and keeping up with him well enough to maintain damage is a real struggle. Persuading him not to run into ferry drones or the Black Market, vaporise himself and deny everyone the badge can be quite the challenge too...
[/ QUOTE ]
Deathsurge is a big wuss as well. Last time we took him down the only challange was all the running.
Although it did add a slight bit of a chllange as we kept aggroing additional mobs. Still a boring grind though. -

I've returned to my Necro/Dark (my initial Villain main) recently after moving him to Union and really enjoying him at the mo.
Just wondering about this. If I stick ToHit/Recharge Set IOs into the Lich and Grave Knights will it improve the rate they cast those powers?
Similarly if I stick Def/Recharge into Grave Knights will it decrease the recharge rate of the broadsword attacks.
Finally what levelling slotting would people use in their pets. I'm level 32 now so no purples or HOs please. -
Hmmm, year on year thats a 10% decrease.
Wish they'd get a move on announcing i13 and what's going to be in it. Game really seems to be treading water at the mo. Even i12 wasn't that amazing content-wise.
Come on NCNC, time to live up to the hype. -
I'm throwing EVERYONE into Room 101.
Plus all the devs, servers, zones and mobs! EVERYTHING!
GAAAH!
(damn I want a ciggie. *Starts singing "Tempt me not foul cigerette"*)
Seriously I do want to throw Castle in slightly as most of the changes he's made which would have seemed to solve many of my little irks (Flaming Oil Slick scaring Controller pets, Grave Knights relucatance to get into melee fixed by having them draw their swords for the Blasts) seem to have made bugger all difference.
In fact the Knights now seem to draw their swords twice (or at least play the Ching noise) and still need prodding into Melee same as always.
Singy is still a big girls blouse as far as the Flaming Oil Slick goes. -
