And then you have a level 20 character with no contacts and stuck with radio/newspaper missions.
Sorry, but /not signed.
[/ QUOTE ]
But you only need to do one "round" of radio / paper missions and you get olffered a contact once you do the safeguard / mayhem. I tend to miss most of my contacts pre-20 anyway and this is the way I catch up.
For me I'd limit it to level 10-12, the really dull annoying bits where you run everywhere and have few attacks. Yes they only last a few hours, but my god they're dull. -

it was just an example i would like somewhere tween 5-15% increase for a few hrs if this is the way
or starting at 1.5x and gradually decresing to 1.0x over a few hrs
[/ QUOTE ]
I can't see that being of benefit to the game, the casual players could be tempted to play for their 2 hours of XP bonus time and then log out to play WoW, CO, et al until their XP bonus has increased.
Not a sensible proposition IMO and I doubt I'm the only one who'd think that
[/ QUOTE ]
It'd be a dream for us chronic alters though! -

how do you auto target ?
[/ QUOTE ]
Surely by sticking the power on auto-fire and getting the blaster to target the main? -

Oh, and re: Creative Genius - the English one has been run monthly on the English forum all year (although I'm a tad late getting the August nominations thread posted ... off to do that now).
[/ QUOTE ]
I actually knew Creative was up and running pretty well at the mo, but it was more likely to draw a response if I mocked it too -
Before there was suggestion of a system of a semi-serverless enviroment, where your character could temporarily "jump" to another server for a play or teaming session. That'd be my preferred option to be honest. You'd only "lose" your name temporarily while a guest on the second server if there was a clash (I'd even say if the original toon hadn't logged in in a while you keep your name and they get renamed for the session if they then log in at the same time you're on).
I'd obviously like such a system to be cross EU & US, despite the unlikelyness of it actually occuring. -

I was going to say something sarky involving boys, wolves and parables but I cannae be bothered.
[/ QUOTE ]
"Wolves who live in parables shouldn't throw rolling boys gathering no moss in the hand"?
[/ QUOTE ]
That's the one.
Take note NCEU, take note. -

What I wondering is - would it really be a *massive* problem to simply say 'the website is getting an overhaul, so thank you for your patience', rather than cryptic responses? Would the 'competition' really worry about it? Would it not make the community happy?

Never going to happen, this lot thrive on carrots, the dangling of them

Awesome carrots, don't forget.

1) server population: no advantage unless you play after 10PM GMT
[/ QUOTE ]
Not really true, Freedom Villains has more people on it at almost any time than the equivilant time on Union I've found. I was playing both one Sunday morning about 11 and Freedom had more people on (and it was 6am over there). Freedom is the highest population server over there though (which is the primary reason I'm on it).
[ QUOTE ]
2) Performance: No detectable difference for me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, both are grand but a bit patchy in places in my case. West coast US servers (like Virtue) are a wee bit laggier though.
[ QUOTE ]
3) Number of stupid rude people: much higher on US servers
4) Number of pleasent people: much higher on EU servers
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, but I think this is partially down to the time difference. Times I play over here is 9pm onwards, lots of older people on. On Freedumb it seems to be the Back from School crowd on at the same time.
I've found a higher proportion of leechers, afkers and leaders who won't move until you have absolutely 8 people on the team on Freedumb. -

There are a lot of reasons associated with price discrepancies between the regions. Prices will be set by region to reflect numerous business considerations, and as such comparing prices through exchange rates that frequently does not tell the whole story.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's funny because I swear that, when I buy something from a UK internet shop, they don't charge me the way NCEU does.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's just an "unfortunate" fluke that the flucutations mean we've always paid more than the UK price.
In fact the EU price has never even been close to the UK one, the fluctuations don't seem to fluctuate that way. How odd! -

It's pointless wishing for things like merging the server sets. It's NOT going to happen, and has been explained why many many times. If you want to play on the US servers, you can do the same anyone else can. Buy a copy of the US game, and start from scratch. Not the ideal answer, but the ONLY answer.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you've nothing better the add - please stay away from this thread.
I'm sure we all know whats been said in the past. However I and others do believe this is a need for the good of the game. If we stop asking then it won't happen.
Please don't try to shoot people down in flames just because you don't want to see the feature being suggested.
[/ QUOTE ]
FFM didn't shoot anyone down in flames, he just repeated what is the current stance on this I'm afraid.
You've no right to tell people not to reply in a thread, especially if its just because they make a point disagreeing with yours.
[/ QUOTE ]
So what gives you the right to point that out to me?
[/ QUOTE ]
Note I didn't tell you to leave the thread or accuse you of flaming. That would be the difference. -

Ahem
After reading the first 20 replies I noticed this is transformed into a semi polite flame war.
Still despite rudeness, questionmarks etc. I am in favour of merging our servers into the US server sets. That would mean Vigilance and Zukunft remain as they are but the german and french speaking persons can go meet more exciting people on Union Defiant plus the American servers.
It would solve our population problems, it would also boost the population of the American servers. For me that is a win win situation.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd be happy for this to happen too, although I've found the population on Onion pretty good hero-side recently.
Villains I either solo my MM since there's not many villains around, or play my US account, where there are plenty about. -

Last time I checked My main was closing in on 2300hrs. Put it this way I was passed 1000hrs by the time I hit 50....
Just asking about one of the SG guys has over 3000hrs on his main blaster.
But as there are some people out there who play nothing but one toon, there must be much higher than these.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm interested to hear what GGs is! -
One thing I pondered about that when I first read it, if Castle has scripted Custom AIs to work in certain ways, ensuring toggles are on or whatever, it might be possible to assign the most suitable of those AIs to a custom character and get decent results.

I don't RP or move in RP circles often, so the only time bios are read are when we're waiting for the team to turn up, waiting for next mish to be put up, etc.
[/ QUOTE ]
Aye, I'm the same. My bios tend to be a backstory instead of just a roleplaying description of what you can see, for that reason (I find full bios more interesting). Only exception is the bio for Attila the Bum, mainly because it was more fun writing it in rambling deranged tramp gibberish.
I tend to prefer to plonk a bit of humour in them if appropriate. I've gotten a fair few compliments over Johnny Moronics.
Wytchs tend to be my favourite to read, especially the teenage girl who won a Crey competition from a packet of breakfast cereal, got various unpleasant proceedures carried out on her and is now under control of Marketing and the cereals new mascot. -

A) Many, Carni took 18 months to get to 50 (many thanks to the Alts)
B) I've really only "pimped" 1 toon, my Grav/TA. Even then "pimping" means just getting Recovery bonuses so he could skip stamina. That said my Fire/Rad is fairly PROCced out now too and Carni has a few hamis in her build. -
It's a long, long way off but I'll tentively volunteer too with my Necro/Dark. I can't guarentee the zombies won't try to eat the racers (or other zombies) though

Like attacks of the munchies, forgetting where their stash is and being distracted by shiney things...
Ooh look, some tin foil. -
Oh yes, I would be interested in an occasional team, or a TF. Currently only level 25 though but it is my current toon so thats increasing all the time.
On after 8:30-9 most nights and I could arrange to be about for a weekend tf if its not too long (I have a toddler so it'll require some wheelerdealing) -

God I hope not. Last thing I want is more of them running about in those kinky outfits.
I mean do they know they look like walking condoms in those cossies?
DOWN WITH LONGBOW (unless I'm on my Necro MM in which case Braaaaaaaains. Nom nom nom) -

This is the can o' worms I mentioned initially. It's quite hard to catch all the "not originally intended" cases, especially if someone has hacked the data file to do something unpredicatable.
[/ QUOTE ]
But if the options are selected mostly by drop-down boxes, like the costume creator, then it doesn't matter too much whether you can access the file client side. It would be like having an offline costume creator with text files: sure, you can "hack" the file and change the line that refers to your top as "Take That re-union tour t-shirt", but when you load the costume creator, it would then default anything like that which it could not find to generic spandex.
I imagine if they have something similar for missions, if they store files on your home computer, so if you change the line that refers to "map type" to something out of range, it will default to a standard map or prevent the uploading of the file.
[/ QUOTE ]
They might have mutually exclusive options the standard designer blocks out, like high flying Longbow ambushes (e.f. Mayhems) on an interior office map. Hack the file to set exclusive options and things could go horribly wrong when the game engine tries to set the map up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hee hee hee.
*plots*
But even things like changing the mob types to something a bit odd (say like Hami or a GM of some sort) or something via tweaking the data file could give bizarre results.
All conjecture of course but hey, tis Friday, my feet are wet and my will to work is low -

Are we able to use this? I would love it if we were!
[/ QUOTE ]
There was talk of it but I haven't seen it confirmed.
I sure hope so but since it hasn't been mentioned I'm dubious it'll be in the initial release.
[ QUOTE ]
As for keeping files off-line, it could be something along the lines of the "interpreter" we have for movies where, sure, you can go and "hack" the original file, but anything not originally intended may well get thrown back as an error message when you attempt to publish it.
[/ QUOTE ]

I'ld be up for this, be funny just to see all the warshades rush to each mob to get their double mire before the mobs destroyed.

Was on a team with 3 blasters last night and it was like this. Could get mired fine but by then everything was dead!
Oh well. *blasts the next spawn before the tank is there*
